Has anyone seen Tamsin Greig's hair style? She plays Beverly on Episodes. She has a really cute short haircut that would be perfect for chemo growout - short and straight in front and a little longer and wavier in back. Might be a style to try for, especially since the hair grows faster in back than in front.

Herstrong - I just looked up Tamsin Grieg. I have been searching celeb short hair styles for months now but I hadn't come across hers. It is cute, but the problem im having, my total aversion to short hair, I think is that its such a reminder of this whole shit show. I wish I could get over it, but I feel like ill be wearing a wig til next summer. Anyway, thanks for suggestion - I saved the pic of her in my celebrity hair file in case im ever brave enough.0 -
shore1- I feel like you do. I want to wear the wig until my hair is as long as it was prior to chemo. I don't stop chemo until Oct. 17th so I will probably wear the wig until next summer anyways. I want the nose hairs to come back first so my nose will stop dripping like a faucet.

Dianarose, that's how I feel but im not sure how realistic it is because pretty soon ill have to wear a wig cap to contain my own hair under the wig. Ill really be a sweaty mess then! But I keep thinking it'll be less traumatic for me if I transition from wig to my own hair at about the same length (I wear the Nariko Jolie short bob).

Shore1-I got a long wig as my hair was long prior to chemo. The wig is not as curly as my own hair though. I was just reading on the thread about permanant hair loss from chemo and I pray to God that does not happen to me. I would be totally devistated. These woman were told their hair would come back and it has been 2 yrs for one of them and no hair. Even when I went to Boston the MO said one thing they could guarantee is that my hair would grow back. I am not so trusting now. You are right and that it is a shit show. I want off this ride.

Shore1 - Shit show? What shit show, lol! Best advice ever came from my daughter during chemo - Well put a hat on and move one! Haha! She was right. I'm not trying to be mean (neither was she), but some times we need to realize that there's nothing we can do to change the SS. You see my long blond hair in my avatar? I lost a lot of hair and feel so ugly. But I don't want to wear a wig anymore, so here I am. Like it or lump it. Once you have an inch or so of hair it's hard to wear a wig anymore - at least for me. I wake up most mornings and feel my head. Oh yeah, I have BC. Crappy hand to be dealt but at least I have Tasmin's picture as a goal!

herstrong, I had long blonde hair also, and my wig is long and blonde. I can't wait to ditch it! I am only 3 weeks PFC, but I think once I have scalp coverage I will start going out on weekends with out the wig and just wear the wig to work. Once I can "style" my hair I will ditch the wig at work too! At least that is my plan.
I think I miss my hair because not having it reminds me daily that I have cancer - not that I have forgotten! LOL

I had my next-to-last Herceptin tx today, and of course hair is a popular topic of conversation in the chemo room. A new chemo nurse asked me how much longer I would be wearing my wig. I hope I didn't embarrass her, but I explained that this IS my real hair. I admit that my own hair looks more like a dull fuzzy wig than my actual wig did, and I hate it. I sure hope this mop does settle down soon :-/

OK calm down--I'm an old pro at this---my lashes and brows came in first, then my thin hir on top and ok hair the rest of the place. Still thin---lases seems to fall off easily and are short, very short they used to be so long--well u really can't see them--my eyebrows I fill in--never had to in my life. And it's been over 2 yrs. That's my story and I'm stickin to it. LOL

And I suggest you stay away from that discussion thread about hair not coming back, unless you're six months PFC and no sign of hair. Yes, it does happen. But it's quite rare and there's no reason to put yourself through that worry until or unless there is good reason. In the meantime, take a picture once a month and compare. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how your hair grows. And remember, 1/2" a month is normal. I am an exception to the rule - my hair grows really fast. If you can, go back and look at your baby pictures. I have a hunch that if your hair grew fast as a baby, it will grow fast post-chemo. I know it sounds crazy. But if you saw my baby picture, you'd know why I think this is true.

Another good thing is mine came in like silk--new hair--it was never like that and it still feels silky so u'll notice that riht away.

LuvRVing: Love your hair. My hair is pretty long on top 4 weeks PFC. But it's white, so unless you look up close you can't tell. Note: My hair was brown before the chemo. I am not going to worry about it. Due to new HOTFLASHES occurring, there have been times, I have whipped off the wig at work and said sc....w it! I think some of my male co-workers were appalled, but they have more hair than I do! I am getting braver and braver about going topless, even though there's not much. Maybe in another month or two I can just wear the wig out on special occasions, like my son's wedding!

I am just glad to have hair again, any hair. It is short and soft but it now covers my head enough that I can go without head covers. I hated having stuff on my head, other than hair.

I want my eyebrows and eyelashes back more than my hair. I finished treatments 3 weeks ago and hair is slowly coming back but no eyebrows or eyelashes yet. I bought the MaryKay product and have been using it hoping for improvement. My onc would not prescribe Latisse without research and so far she must not have gotten around to it. Oh well, I guess this is the least of my problems! I should feel glad to be feeling stornger and have more stamina.

I don't like the silky hair...I wish it were thicker and more coarse like before. I am grateful, just wishin'.....

My Mo said Latisse would be fine, as did my derm who gave me the rx the other day. Just have to pick (and pay for it!) it up.

I have been using latisse for almost a month and nothing! I think it works better when your lashes grow back in. Since mine are gone I haven't seen any growth with it yet, though I will continue to use it!

I think u'r right. U have to have somelashes to start with--cuz when we have none the growth isn't there. So save it for a while then use it. maybe it will work better.

Yes, gals,it's true about latisse. I am fortunate (thus far) I have lashes. Not too many have fallen out (yet).

Hi ladies! I've been on vaca for the past week - celebrating my 20th anniversary with my DH and when we went out at night - I made an amazing up do with a fake ponytail!!! It was so amazing to look like my old self! But now I think I'm missing my long hair even more!
And don't stress about the lashes/brows - ive been thru 3 rounds of rethinning and regrowth - every time is less and less - never even close to the chemo loss!0 -
Well MamaV congratulations on 20 yrs. and good idea about the ponytail---U'r hair will all come back and u'll have u'r real ponytail before u know it.
