Kjiberty, I am doing ok. The pain isn't bad and I am out doing a lot of my normal stuff. I even went on a 2 mile walk today. Surgery itself wasn't so bad at all.

I am going to need more surgery though, I had a positive margin. I am going to try another revision to my lumpectomy. I had more positive nodes than I was hoping too. My response to chemo wasn't all that great. Scares the poo outta me. It is left to radiation and hormone therapy now. I am not even all that worried about the breast, it is what is probably left in my axilla that I am worried about. This whole thing is just so scary. I hate it.

My hair is somewhat like its former self, now just a very, very slight wave and thicker.  I know one thing for sure, it takes hair color much differently.  Before chemo and hair loss, I used a strawberry blonde hair dye and the color would be soft yellow-copper red-ish blonde.  I used the same hair color today and my hair came out pinkish copper red.  Yep, I kept looking at it in the mirror and could not deny that pinkish tinge.  I'm not sure how I like it...hopefully it will fade a bit and look more natural in a few days.

    2 questions:

When did you all stop wearing something on your head?

Also, is #weeks "pfc" from the day of your last treatment? I got my last taxotere/cytoxan on July 3rd. Am I 4 wks pfc, or 1 wk pfc?

Carrol2, thanks for the info.  I am so not used to working with my hair.  It used to be brush and go.  Good to know the weight will help in time.  Most of the curl is now at the back of my neck and the wave is more than I've ever had.  The wave almost looks like it's from the layers on top of each other.

Nkb, strange how we didn't think about the regrowth.  Years to grow and years of styling.  I am so hoping that somewhere along the way I will find a style that will be a keeper and maybe not go back to my super long hair.  I guess as I get closer to 50, maybe it's time to change the old style.  I always thought I'd be one of theose old ladies with long hair... maybe better that I'm not :-).

Rocky and others, when my mother had chemo, herotherwise straight hair came in with lots of curls. Once it grew to her normal shoulder-length do, it was back to its normal straight texture.

anndh, my last treatment was June 3, 2011.

On August 3, 2011, I stopped wearing anything on my head.  I was 8 weeks pfc.

Ann, pfc stands for "post final chemo". Some like to substitute a different f-word of their choice for final ;-)

anndh - you are 4 weeks PFC!  Congrats!  I was a total wimp and waiting 5 months PFC before going topless!

You all crack me up with the mullet talk!  I have not gotten my hair cut at all - still say I NEVER will again LOL.  I would always scrunch up the back to make it curlier and shorter (the top and sides are just wavy now) to avoid the mullet look as best I can.  My hair is almost 5 1/2" inches so now I can get a tiny ponytail in the back.  I twist it and pin it up!  It works b/c it's 100 degrees here.  I'm hoping that in 2 months when it cools off, I'll have long enough sides to look less like a mullet!  We'll see I guess!

Every day ... a little more grows!  It HAS to!

Anndh, I am 5 weeks pfc (post final chemo or post f'ing chemo as I used to think it meant). I stopped wearing anything on my head at 4 weeks pfc but I started getting some growth while I was still n taxol, I am not shy so I started going topless as soon as I had enough coverage to not see my scalp. I still look kinda like a mans hairstyle but I hate wearing stuff on my head.

I'm almost 4 weeks PFC too. Lots of peach fuzz on my head. Sure wish some color would come in so you could see it! I'm hoping I can go topless by 8 weeks PFC. That would be like a dream!

My leg hair sure has figured out how to make a return! It could have stayed gone.....

I know this isn't the best timeline picture (it's hard to get my head in the same spot each shot!), but here's my journey from 3.5 weeks to 8 weeks PFC. I've been going topless now for about a week. It's just too hot here in Chicago for me to wear anything on my head! I get a few stares when I go out, but that's okay. I'd much rather be comfortable!

I started going topless on April 12th, 18 weeks PFC.  My hair wasn't as long as I wanted it to be at that point, but it was so thick that it made it wearing the wig difficult, and I am just not a hat person.  I am now almost 8 months PFC, and my hair seems to be starting to grow faster lately.

Joan - impressive growth!  And it's dark too!

Joan looking good. I had that same haircut back in early 2011.

Kristin looks like you have some nice growth there too. Mine never came in that evenly.

OK don't hang out here much but I thought it was time I posted this again: linky

Hello ladies! I've been trolling around this thread periodically since my hair started falling out late March or so, and now I'm at the hair re-growth part (3 weeks PFC) so I feel I can finally join you. I am at the peach fuzz stage, never did lose my hair 100%... so now just waiting for some colour and progress. The fuzz seems to be white except for around my ears, so I look a bit like my dad!!! :) thank you all for the excellent inspiration over the months, it has helped so much.

Hi ladies, went to my 3rd TC treatment today and asked for a prescription for Latisse.  My MO seemed to discourage me from it saying it is expensive, takes 8 weeks for a pharmcy to obtain, and could discolor my lids.  Would appreciate any info you have on it. When would I begin using it?

Eyebrows and lashes are thinning now and I imagine it gets worse.  Losing the hair was traumatic but now I think my eyes make me look like I have cancer.

I luv this site.  I asked my MO for advice on hair supplements and he had no clue.  I am grateful for all the info and encouragement shared here!

    Thanks for the welcome jpmo3.

Re: supplements... I'd love to hear more about what people

know about ANYTHING that helps with healthy hair re-growth, vitamins, supplements, massage????? Patience is probably the most important ingredient I guess.

kristinfro joanquilts you girls have some great growth coming in, you will have a very chic short do in no time.

rocky I was a big chicken with the haircuts and got very very little cut off. No idea how to measure how long my hair is now at 1 1/2 years. I can make a pony tail, and I have to flip it out of my shirts when I get dressed. I guess you could say almost shoulder length. I think my avatar was at a year I am not sure so probably at least 2 inches longer now.

Hi hikergal--I think it's way to early for the latisse u really meed hair being able to grow to use it and u'r Onc is right--it might very well discolor u'r eyelids at this point. There are a lot of good products out there for brows--alot of the cosmetic cos make that so that shouldn't be to hard. Well hair--patience, patience, patience--those are the three main things. Luck to all u newbies.

hikergal - i was using latisse while I didn't have any lashes and nothing!  It was recommended on this board that I save it till my lashes start coming in.  I didn't have any discoloration of my eyelids in the month I used it.

JP:  Sorry to hear you will need additional surgery.

I am 5 weeks PFC tomorrow and I have the peach fuzz on top but more is growing on the sides and back.  I am getting braver and braver every day (see new avatar), which means I tend to wear the cap out, instead of the wig.  I did have a few stares from little kids, but that's okay.  I have been "topless" at the gym.  Even the buff is too hot.  I actually did Body Pump on Monday. I hope I can keep it up.  I need to get going on the exercise!

14 and a half weeks and just got my 1st haircut !!!  I was pretty nervous,  but it needed to be shaped.  What a nice job my SIL did and I was very surprised that by shaping and evening it up, it is much thicker looking.  I think she took off about 4 weeks of growth, but it looks so much better !!  The chia pet look wasn't working anymore..lol
