slak- Mine is just a little bit longer than yours but it doesn't lay flat.  In fact it actually gets messed up!!! I have been spiking it because I have no idea how to style it.  My son wants me to try a faux-hawk.  Its longer on top and shorter on the sides.  I hate it but last night one of my friends said it looks hip.  My last chemo was April 23 so its been just over 3 months for me!

Tina -- how nice to have hair that gets messed up! Mine is not there yet.

I live in a college town and have seen the  "faux hawk" on a few artsy chicks in the past few years. So it is a cute style on some people.  Even though I like it (for now)... my reflection reminds me of a Teletubby. Interesting -- when I told my boss that this was how  it was growing in and that I wasn't doing it 'on purpose'.... he was surprised.

Looking forward to the wind blowing hair around.... what a feeling that will be after all of this!

shera - my faux hawk is not behaving anymore.  I thought it was kinda cute at first (I am 45, too) and my DD said I could pull off the short look.  Of course she is an artsy chick (goes to the Cleveland Institute of Art).  Now it is a little over an inch long and has a mind of its own...and curl!  I had curls before chemo and cursed them my whole life. Anyway, I'm all for the punk rock band!

I still rub my head, and I think it's good for stimulating the circulation and growth.  I also believe the sun and fresh air helps too.  I stopped wearing my wig and now I go topless most of the time, hats sometimes.  It feels so much better.  Herceptin is slowing me down too so hang in there Eileen, you will get there!

Ladies I am not on herceptin and my growth is still slow. I don't have patches but the problem is that I don't have full skull coverage. So you can still see my scalp. I really don't want to go topless until I have full coverage. I am 20 wks pfc and have noticed some women have more coverage even after 10 wks. I guess it all depends on your hair growth prior. The number of treatments you had I am sure is a factor too. Still working on the eyebrows as well they have been gone since Feb and to date I have a scattering of brow hair. Ughhhh!

I am still on Herceptin and am taking a supplement called Purvana in a time released gel that contains 2500 mcg Biotin that seems to be helping with the hair growth and also for strengthing my nails. It is by wellgenixhealth.com .....promotes thicker fuller hair, healthier skin and stronger nails....all in one.

Sandlake, I have a Mac too and this website doesn't like macs or iPads , you have to upload it to a website like flickr or snapbucket and get a like to the photo from here.

Tutorial for uploading to photobucket and posting here: linky

Nkb don't be afraid to ask help. I think it took at least a year before I could open water bottles again. Considering I was drinking water all the time on chemo and Herceptin. Granted I still drink a lot of water but most of the time I use my own PBA free bottle. On chemo I wanted to be sure no germs. Yes I would ask strangers. Hell do your really care what a stranger that you most likely will never see again thinks?!

Lago- thanks. Don't really care about what strangers think, but, would like to stay competent. Good to know that it takes about a year Just amazed at what seemed so easy in the past, putting on shoes and socks are a challenge now.

One thing I am really learning to do is offer concrete help to people if I can think of something useful I can do. I no longer want to say if you need anything let me know.

When my DH went backpacking during one of my chemos (which he really needed to do) he didn't want me to go to chemo alone, the people i thought of asking were the ones who spontaneously had said they would take me if I ever needed them to- not the ones who said if you need anything let me know.

Neuropathy can take up to 2 years to disappear. If it hasn't dissipate by then my NP says it won't. My issue with my fingers was the nails.

BTW I ended up going to my last chemo alone. Couldn't catch a cab so I took the bus to the train then had to make another transfer. On the way home I got a cab. It was snowing a little that morning. Sheet of ice when I got home. Got out of the cab and fell right on my ass. I chuckled and thought "figures." The next day I had to see the dermo about my nails. A friend drove me to that. I was spacey from the emmend and benadry.

My stylist recommended a shampoo and conditioner with biotin and I've been using it since I first saw hair regrowth.  My hair seems to be growing quickly and its getting thick.

Whatashocker- It is called Clinicure.  I think you have to buy it from a beautician or at a beauty products store.  I have been pleased at the rate of growth so far.  My hair always grew fast before.

Goodie - throw a temp color in there....use some type of brush around the temples if the grey is there.  I had a good amount also, but from what I can tell, it's not there as much on the new growth.

AEM47, you look fabulous. Love your hair! I love your blue shirt, too!  Where's the photo taken?  It's nice scenery.

When I look back now at pictures of my super short hair from a year ago, I actually am proud of myself.  Proud that I kept keeping on keeping on.  I don't cringe, and I don't have bad memories about it.  I look at photos on this thread of women who are bald and then less bald, and it makes me feel proud that you, that we, are brave and moving forward, dealing with what we have to.

Divine - that beach is in Scituate Mass.  Its a little penninsula that was an old navy base that the airforce now owns.  The old quarters for the navy have been redone into cottages that they rent out...very peacefull pretty place.
