Hair is growing slowly, eyebrows are almost back, little stubs of eyelashes growing, so I'm making progress!

I'll be curious if these actresses grow out their short cuts or just get extensions when they find out how long it really takes to grow it back out... I'll be watching for sure.

Discovered lower lashes today!! Wow. AND, some new growth in the eyebrow department. Transformed! (not. But still, progress is so rewarding)

I'm 4 1/2 months PFC and have had my hair colored three times. Twice in the last two days. Wednesday was Billy Idol/Eminem blonde, Thursday it went to a Rob Lowe chestnut brown. My hair is very short but its ok. While I was at the salon, a lady who doesn't know me complimented my hair and called it the Halle Berry look. She went on to say she wished she was brave enough to go so short. I simply thanked her and agreed its a brave and bold move. She had no idea it was a chemo hair don't, I mean hair do.

Got my hair colored and trimmed yesterday 9 weeks PFC.  I loved Rhianna's hair.  My hairdresser said I may have to get it colored once a month or so because of the fast hair growth.  I am okay with that if the hair growth is fast!

NCbeachgal - I'm just one week behind you & I'm now having fun watching it change as it grows.  I've developed honest to goodness waves, mostly at the back & my hair has been poker straight my entire life.  I know this may lead to the infamous chemo curl that so many are having a hard time controlling, but so far it's kinda cool! I just love marvelling at the mirror image of the back of my head - LOL!

auntienance - I'm not looking forward to losing my lashes a 2nd time (or 3rd) - they are more important to my self esteem than my hair & so much harder to hide...

myleftboob - Rhianna's hair looked super, and her choice of gown impressed me:  no upwired & miracle padded cleavage from her navel to her collarbone as so many others sport - she was one classy lady!

fhny2012 - many here have taken Biotin supplements & used Nioxin shampoo.  I take a B complex daily & make sure I get enough protein in my diet.  There was recent discussion about egg conditioning & apple cider vinegar rinses if you want to read back through about the last 10 pages.  I tried once to start at the beginning of this thread, but it's near impossible to read it all unless you've got a few days straight with nothing else to do...Undecided...like sleep.

I used to think I needed lots of VOLUME on top to look decent, but now that it's supershort & still flat on top, I'm not minding this look. I don't even mind not having bangs yet again, schatzi. But like you, crazyride43 - I know exactly what you mean about it seeming to get worse before it gets better as it grows.  I've thought it would be nice to "freeze" it at the stage you think it's looking pretty good, 'cause you know it's not ever going to be the same once it gets longer & then is cut...but, trimming to neaten up the nape & whispies can only help - I hope!

I'll update my photo journal next week...

CAYH, if it's any consolation, they don't fall out completely like they did the first time, they just thin noticeably. Mine are thin to begin with so I tend to get obvious gaps but I usually keep enough to get some mascara on those suckers. Fortunately, they do come back pretty fast, but it's still annoying.

Oh my. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade but my lashes departed twice. They are much thicker with this second regrowth than the first. Didn't lose them on AC. Lost them about three treatments into weekly Taxol. Regrowth started about 10 days later - like they were waiting to just pop right out. Started losing them 2 weeks after my last weekly Taxol. They started growing back in about a week later.

Different responses to chemos and such. Just so you know. :-/

Dltnhm, I shouldn't have implied that everyone's experience was like mine other then the fact that they seem to come back quickly. When I lost them the first time, They came back much thicker, which elated me. Sadly, that hasn't been the case subsequent times :-(

My lashes fell out ~ 6 wks after finishing 4 cycles of AC.  It was almost as if the new ones pushed out the old, because they grew back in very quickly.

I understand that a 3 month cycle is average for the life of our lashes, but since they normally fall out randomly, we don't notice.  After chemo, they pretty much fall out all at once, & begin their usual 3 month cycle all over again, taking sometimes more than a few cycles to totally randomize again...someone here said she was still experiencing regular fallout 2 years later - yikes!

Thank you very much , ncbeachgal!

Chemo - the gift that keeps on giving!

I lost mine during my 5th round of T/C and they are just now starting to sprout - 8 weeks PFC.  Still can't wear mascara because they are too short.

I bought normal shampoo for the first time in 7 months.  I had been using shampoo with biotin before and after hair loss but it is almost gone so I just bought some Herbal Essence and it felt great to be buying a normal hair care product for my almost normal hair!!!!  (The shampoo with biotin was very expensive so there was no way I was buying more now that my hair is growing quickly!)

Thought I'd finally join the Hair club since I'm almost 5 weeks PFC.  My head hair is starting to blossom and began its awaited appearance at the end of 3 weeks PFC.  My pre-chemo eyebrows are sparse but I definitely see and can feel the new ones slowly growing out.  Pre-chemo eyelashes for the most part have stayed; while some of the bottom lashes left.  New bottom eyelashes are emerging so all is good with the hair.

i was using Aveeno Baby Conditioning Shampoo while on chemo.  I'm now using Nioxin shampoo.  It doesn't take much nowadays to shampoo my head/hair.  I got the Nioxin at Marshall's and TJ Maxx recently and seemed like the shelves have been restocked.  Much cheaper there than paying retail.

Glad this thread is here and love to see all of the pics of everyone who is braver than I to post pics.

My lashes came back pretty quick PFC but I lost them again a couple of months later.  They are now back again and long and thick!  Hang in their ladies, the will be back!

    Kristen:  Love the pic.

Speaking of pics:  I wanted to change my avatar.  Attached the file and deleted the old one.  It won't let me attach any pic.  I can't figure it out.  I am getting error messages on BCO.  Has anyone had this issue and what do I do?

kjiberty - It took me several tries this last time that I changed my avatar before it 'took' .. but besides replacing it with the new pic and selecting it I seem to recall that there was one more step to making the change 'save' but I cannot recall and cannot locate it at this time. Ah chemo/rad brain :-( And to think I just did this recently.

    Edited to clarify.

I love the pics of everyone's hair. I just started chemo 8-23-12 and my hair has been cut short and is falling out. My scalp hurts.... Was there anything that you put on it to make it not so tender? Any vitamin or supplements? Any particular shampoo? Lotion? Thanks for any advice. Hugs

kjliberty- The shampoo I have been using (before, during and after chemo) is called Clinicure.  I used "cleanse" and "nourish".  I bought it through my stylist.  She recommended it.

melmcbee- I don't think there was anything to make it not hurt but the tenderness does go away once the hair stops falling out.  I put hemp lotion on every day and that soothed it.  I bought it at a beauty supply store.  The funny part was that there was a pic of a marijuana leaf on the front of the lotion!  The lady at the store recommended it because her son shaves his head bald and moisturizes with the same lotion.  Hope that helps!  A funny side note, I used a lint roller on my head.  After I had it shaved the pieces that were falling out were so short and were annoying so everyday after I showered I took a lint roller to my head so I wouldn't have hair everywhere.  A friend of mine used duct tape!!!
