CAYH you look so fabulous! Your hair has grown out into such a great style. In my humble opinion, there is no need at all for a wig - you are incredibly stylish just as you are.

I am 10 weeks PFC and I have hair but still can see part of my scalp! I still look like a chemo patient not someone with a hip short style. SOON I hope!

cayh - it looks very nice, don\t think you need a wig - love it.

Cayh- love it. I like the gray

CAYH: You look pretty good for 56, wow! Your hair also looks amazingly thick and healthy. I've thrown the wig away about three weeks ago, and my hair is much shorter than yours. You don't need it any more; it looks as if your hair has been cut to look like this. So darn cute!

Cayh, you look great, who needs a wig!

Onvacation: I'm right with you, will be 10 weeks on Tuesday, and I do have hair but I can still see alot of scalp. Cannot wait until my scalp is totally covered. can.not.wait.

Cayh, agree with all above. Ditch the wig. I love the way your hair looks and I think the color is sophisticated looking and cool. The silver with the dark, Looks like you tried to get it that way on purpose.

I agree with everyone - CAYH - ditch the wig - you have an actual style and tons of hair - go for it!
KCB - so with you there - coverage is my next goal!

CAYH....I agree with everyone else. I think you look great! If I had that much hair that looked that good on me, I'd never consider a wig anymore!

Love74, I was about 35 weeks pfc when I got my extensions and my hair was about 2.5 inches long. I am in Australia and the extensions I got are two wefts attached to strands of one's own hair (no glue) at the sides and back plus a toupe for the top.

Wowie - what a nice boost from you all to start off my day!!!
I live in a small town & have not wanted my hair screaming chemo patient since my situation is not common knowledge. It seemed such a short time ago that my head was always cold - wore a soft cap when sleeping even. Then the heat of summer made me glad to have so little hair that I could stay cooler (most times - at home anyway). It's all part of the metamorphosis, I guess.
Thank you, thank you for all the nice compliments - you've given me the confidence to ditch the wig! It felt so odd yesterday when I tried to adjust it onto my head - like it was skewed & not covering in front of my ears as it used to - making my ears stick out more in fact & I just couldn't seem to get it in the right spot...yak!
Am calling my stylist this morn - it's been 5 months since I've been in that chair & that's one I look forward to sitting in. I'll bag my wig & have her colour match it for future reference, in case I decide I cannot love the gray. That option is always open...So nice to see the March group trickling in: Kim, it was ~ 12 weeks before I had a full, pettable bunny head that my scalp didn't show through anymore, so hang in there! & Hi KCB - you'll get there - you will.
Have to say that I loved scrolling through this thread & seeing progress pics - post them if you can please - it's so very inspiring!

I think I may have been one of the few who really liked my wig (below is the wig model, not me :-)). It was like my old hair, but it held it's great style and the red and blonde streaks were a nice change. I always colored my hair with a red/brown, but the wig rocked. Never any touch-ups etc. I really want to have these streaks put in my hair when it's longer. It was funny how many compliments I used to get and people asking who did my hair, etc. Most of the time I would just smile, but it was definitely a pick me up during a really crappy time.
CAYH, I had no choice, but to ditch the wig. The new hair make it difficult to ware. I tried the hair stocking thing, but at that point it seemed silly and I think I had even less hair then you at the time.

I think I've decided that losing the eyebrows is not a totally bad thing for me. I never really did much with them before chemo except regular waxing and stray hair removal. They were very light and I really didn't pay that much attention. Now that I have to fill them in, I really have a better shape and they do a lot more for my eyes I think. In fact, during chemo I paid a whole lot more attention to makeup in general, I was so determined not to look "sick" or to let my baldness rule my appearance. One of the nicest things said to me was by one of my chemo nurses when I told her I was going to a Look Good Feel Better class, "well you don't look like you need it, you always look so nice when you come in here." I really appreciated that.

Rocky I liked my wig too, but after 6 months of wear it is starting to look frizzy on the ends. It is long like yours, so i bought a short one to transition to my new hair when I go topless. i am going to Florida this weekend so i am going to try it out there. Hopefully I will be be wearing the short one to work next week and then when i have scalp coverage my new pixie style. Probably all in my head that this will make it easier, but going to give it a try.

Thanks Racy! I think thats the same kind I was looking at. If I don't like my hair when its 2.5" long then I'm definitely going to get them!

I thought about getting my long wig cut short to make the transition, but then I also wore I blonde shoulder length halo type wig with a hat every so often so I thought... who am I kidding.

I loved my wig too! I sure spent enough on it! I wore it for a whole year too! Sometimes I wish I could just put it back on to look like my old pre BC self with beautiful long hair. Not to be for a while I guess ... maybe will look into extensions?

Mama- how long is your hair now?

My TC x4 regimen ended July 19th and I still have almost no hair: a few odd hairs are about an inch and a half (you can count these on your hands and feet - so abotu 20 white hairs) and then I see many hairs that are a fraction of an inch (like 1/16 of an inch) beginning to sprout. I cannot wait until they grow out. I am not just getting impatient I am getting scared that there is so little growth. Anyone else?

Hey ladies. I had my last chemo 10/7/11, and last Herceptin 8/3/12. I hate my hair. It is about 4 inches long, and frizzy. Did any of you ladies that have grown your hair back have it cut and styled on the road back to longer hair, and how long did it take? I am not sure if I should just leave it be, or get it styled.

VVH - you're right on schedule as to what my regrowth has been: at 7 weeks I only had a "5 o'clock shadow" that I could really only see if I looked real hard in a certain light, & wasn't convinced it was only wishful thinking, but it was there. You're at 8 weeks now & sounds like it's just beginning for you too.
Take heart - you should start seeing faster progress from here on out. Try taking weekly or biweekly pics just so you can compare - it does really help calm your fears!

Vvh you are right on schedule. Patience is the hardest part of this.

Southamptonmom, My last chemo was the end of Nov. 2011 and I haven't had a cut or style yet. I've got about 5 inches, but I did cut the first inch off in Dec. 2011 and went bald again (long story :-)). I'm am leaving it now because my "style" is what I do with gel, etc. There are many in between stages when growing out hair. I remember as a kid growing out my bangs and also growing out a perm so I'm just hanging in there and putting my hair behind my ears for now.

Rockym, would love to see a picture of your hair.

My son and DH are getting haircuts right now, I think that my hair might actually be longer than theirs right now for the first time since I buzzed mine. Another milestone for me. Theirs still seems to grow faster though damnit.
Well my sons is still longer on top, but close. His is still way thicker though. I got my DH beat though.0 -
Southamptonmom....My hair is about 3-4in long and curly and frizy. I am getting a REAL hair cut in less than 2weeks. I am going to go for a pixie hoping all the chemo curl will be grown out.
My sister said to use heavy conditioner to weigh it down to help.

I'm tucking, too, and using gel and a rolled up bandana. There are so many cute headbands, but they don't stay in without hair! I just can't stand it. I have a wig, but never wore it. Now that the weather is cooler, I may try again. Argh...
