    dlthm,

You are a brave girl.  I am telling you at this point I could not go without a wig, I never bought a scarf or hat to wear outside.  In the house I wear a wool cap.  I wear the cap in the house at all times.  Got a ways to go before I'm ready for that, but thanks for the suggestion.

Awww Waiting ... I don't think it was brave. For me, it was just me ... hair or no hair ....

You'd be surprised at the number of people that think it's just a hair choice. A gal at church who knows I run asked my husband if I'd shaved it for the Balderdash race that weekend :0)

    Hugs!!

Waiting - I finished chemo 3/22/12 and went on vacation to the beach in July.  My hair was very short but I didn't care!  The sun felt so good on my head and I didn't notice any stares.  I found myself caring less and less what people thought.  I deserved a vacation and so do you! I say wear your short hair proudly, let the water cool it and let the glorious sun warm your head!  Enjoy your summer, you deserve it!

Thanks-- IamNancy, C-squared, Kelloggs, dltnhm, I guess I will evaluate how the real hair is looking come early June.  It's just so short now, it's hard to imagine it grown out.

IamNancy, We usually go to Seaside, or Seaside Park, I've been to Belmar, Long Branch, Asbury, Long Beach Island, AC of course.  Haven't been to Wildwood Crest yet, maybe we'll check it out this year!

Hi - Sephora sells a product that is totally organic.. and it is a little brush inside a tube.  After you remove all your makeup and start with clean eyes, you brush it along your lid, just like eyeliner.  I also brushed it on my eyebrows.  They came back...    :)

Iamnancy, I go to the casinos. I wear a face mask and finger protectors and wash my hands frequently. I've been going since I began treatments in December 2012. I haven't got sick yet, hope it stays that way.

Waiting.... My parents have a condo in seaside. I love it at the shore. It's so sad what it looks like now :-(. Driving thru ortley and mataloking is horrible.

Iamnancy... I went to AC five times during chemo. Just brought Lysol and sprayed the room. But I never wore gloves or masks or anything. Funny during chemo I even went to the waterpark with my kids. And I never got sick. Everyone's different. I just wanted to be able to do everything I enjoyed and tried not to worry.

    melissa119,

I think a lot of folks think the shore is going to be up and running as usual.  Of course there is no way that much damage could be fixed and rebuilt.  Did they get the roller coaster out of the ocean yet?  Will they be replacing all the rides on the big pier?  There is no place like the Jersey shore.

I never changed my routine during any of my tx's.  Grocery shopping, Christmas shopping, restaurants (many times couldnt eat more than a few bites).  I caught a cold around New Year's, but can't really blame it on chemo.

Waiting... The boardwalk will actually be ready by Memorial Day. Casino pier will open the bottom half of the pier by Memorial Day. The top half next year. Fun town pier will open next year. It's just so sad. But it will be rebuilt!

I flew while doing chemo, and it was fairly late in the treatment too. We went to Paris for a weekend. We also went quite often to a friend's house by the sea, just to hang out. I never had a problem.

the north jersey shores got hit so much worse than the south jersey beaches - south jersey will be business as usual... boardwalks are all safe and rides are there.. North Wildwood, Wildwood. and Wildwood Crest beaches are just as beautiful as ever

This is my hair now. My last chemo was 11/4/12. It is really curly. I was in NC visiting my family and my granddaughter straighten the top with her flat iron. I am holding my youngest granddaughter Lydia. Her hair is getting very curly. She is my sweetheart. I miss her.

Jitersmom- I started using the Nioxin Shampoo prior to chemo and will continue to use it. They sell it at Wal-mart salons and I have scored big at Marshalls on occasion with it being less than half price. I even found the hair spray at a Marshalls in NC. I didn't even know they made a hair spray.

IamNancy- I lost about 75-80% of my hair and didn't have the nerve to shave it. Even if I had, my hairdresser said to keep using it. It gets the chemo out of the hair follicles and once you stop chemo it promotes growth. It has worked for me. My hair is now thicker than before chemo.

Here is a link for Nioxin products but I get them at Walmart salons or I get lucky sometimes and find it at Marshalls.

I see Nioxin products being sold at TJMaxx/Marshalls (same company) for discounted prices. I believe Ulta also sells it.

Nancy- I had to go look at the bottle. It does say cleanser at the top, but shampoo further down the bottle. I have the conditioner as well, but only use it once in awhile. My hair is too much like wire and I have to use a different conditioner and other products as well just to be able to do something with it. It's hard when your hair totally changes after 50 plus yrs. Hell it took me the first 50 to figure out what the hell to do with it and now I am starting all over. LOL

Dianarose - your hair came back very fast. I am going to check out if Nioxin products are  available in Canada. I can't wait until my hair comes back!!! Did you lose your lashes and brows? Have they come back yet? I agree with the other poster - you look great in the picture with your grandaughter - very cute!!

Just checking in guys!  I have been so busy and have been to two conferences.  But I wanted to say I got my first haircut!  I can't believe I did it, because it is still so short on top!!  But yes, you need to get the bottom trimmed to make it look better, till the top gets longer.  My wig fits so much better now and I don't worry about the bottom showing.

I'm shocked because I remember someone else here saying they got a cut, and I couldn't understand why on earth you would want to cut your hair when you are trying to grow it out.  Well now I do.  :o)

Dianarose~ What a gorgeous picture all the way around!!  You, your hair, your granddaughter!  And I just have to say I am SO jealous of your beautiful "locks".  You're hair must grow fast!  My final chemo was May 31, 2012 and my avatar pic was this March 23rd.  I've got 6 months (PFC) on you and you've got 6 inches on me!  My hair used to grow fast (would get cuts religiously every 6 weeks and that was pushing it.., I was ready at 4 weeks), & I thought it was coming back at a quick pace until I saw your pic!!!  Laughing  I am so happy for you!  You look "MAV' E' LOUS" and your little Lydia is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!!
