Just wanted to share for the post chemo gals from my friend who owns a beauty salon...
She said she uses the following (in place of Latisse) to grow her eyelashes/brows:
1/4 part Aloe
1/4 part Castor oil
1/2 part Vitamin E oil
I just got a litte jar this weekend and mixed mine up so will let you know how it goes. I also saw this on makeupgeektv.com.

Dianarose...is Nioxin a supplement? I am taking bioten, my hair came back gray and black, and the back grows faster than the front, my nails are still a mess

bestock my hair was shoulder length and very thick. The day it started falling out I had it cut short. I just wasn't up for buzzing it. I actually wish I had cut it even shorter because of the mess. Oddly enough I wear it shorter now. I would vacuum by bathroom and pillow every day. I highly recommend getting a lint roller too. Many of us not only used it on our clothes but on our head too. Damn, sucks that you have to do this again.

Hi,
I went to my favorite Hair stylist today and she colored my orange hair to a pretty brown. She trimmed it up a bit. I have thin hair in the front. I wont look too bad for surgery . I have surgery next week. I am having tubes and ovaries removed on Tuesday. It will be laproscopic. My Gyn said a 45 minute procedure. Then I am done, unless I get my direct to implant surgery refinement done.

I hope this is helpful it's been 2 years and 3 months since my last infusion and as you can see from my avatar my hiar is very long now. I did cut my bangs since then they were past my chin.

Thanks ladies!!!!! Much appreciated! One question ....so do u have to cut/trim the fuzzy hairs off that first come in after chemo? Did you keep trimming those until u saw the five o clock shadow where u had hair all your head?

runnergirl2 i had those long hairs that never fell out and when the new hair came in the kind of broke of but at 15 weeks I had it all evened out. Before that I was still wearing hats so it didn't matter how weird it looked.

Runnergirl2013 I thought my hair wouldn't come back so I didn't pay attention. I think it might have even started growing before chemo ended. I don't remember ever having that white fuzz stuff.

Runnergirl2013 Here is one more link http://hairpleasegrow.webs.com The first cut I had was at 32 weeks PFC and it was just around the ears and very little on the back nothing on the top.
You could wait until it gets a little longer if by then you do not like the texture then you can always cut it. My hair did feel fuzzy in the beginning but it felt more normal as it grew. The good part is that you will probably see more growth now.

Thanks so much ladies for the photos and caring about me! I know I need to be patient but it is so hard after all that we have been through! As u know the hair growth is a huge sign of normalcy and I can't wait!

Hi ladies just jumped over from another board for some advice. I have or HAD very coarse curly hair until two weeks ago. I wore it kind of in a short curly bob. ANYWAY when it started letting go I cut it to about 1.5 inches..then decided after it really started coming out everytime I moved my head Id just buzz it down to 1/4 inch. BIG mistake...its so stubbly its driving me crazy. Dont know if this is because its kinda coarse and curly anyway. So the question is...what do I do now ??? razor it down to get it smooth or just lotion it down? HELP

Starynights, I know it sounds a bit barbaric, but I had my husband buzz my hair down to the shortest setting, then used a lint roller on my head as the hairs were falling out. They were like little needles! I also washed my head really thoroughly a few times a day and lots of stubble came out in the shower. The lint roller was what saved me and got all those prickly little stubbles out!

Starynights - my husband had to shave it - with the buzz cut the tiny pieces of hair felt like sharp needles when I tried to lay my head down..hope it doesn't come back the same way..

The top of my hair is finally growing, it's at an awful stage right now. So much curl to deal with, looking at the pictures of me I look better in the shorter hair!! April 10th will be one year post chemo for me.0 -
Starynights - my method sounds barbaric too, but it really wasn't & afforded much relief:
I used duct tape, stuck to my sleeve or pant leg first to soften the adhesive a bit, then stuck it to my bristles & peeled them right off...kind of like waxing. A soft, fluffy towel laid over your pillow helps make sleeping a lot more comfortable too.

Sandlake Thank you. Just keep taking those pictures, we would love to see your timeline. I have been meaning to put one together and finally did it, two years later, I am a little slow... Those awkward stages are tough to handle but they will pass. At least you have more options now.

Thanks, IamNancy! Previously my hair was thick, coarse & poker straight - always using the blowdryer & large barrelled curling iron just to get some volume! The curl I had grow in post chemo was very welcome but short lived.
Last trim, I had it thinned out majorly as well 'cause it was just getting poufier/bigger. I will say the colouring used to make it softer in texture, so along with the gray (can I call it "ombre" pewter?) the coarseness is more apparent now. I'm determined not to go back to the chemicals though...one day I may even get used to this...maybe

Getting my 6th haircut tomorrow. My last treatment was 6/28. My hair has really taken off! I do love it short, though.

So happy for you. It looks cute but there's something about being able to get it longer on YOUR terms that feels so good.. and to be able to feel it around you... rather than the fake hair...
