my new hairstyle today. Almost 1 yr pfc and about 10 months for hair growth. Have had 2 trims. Today went for another trim and my hairdresser wouldn't cut because he loved the length and just showed me how to use a curling iron!. New experience for me as always wore it in natural curls which were very tight curls. The color is new. colored it brown (my natural color) before BC but it came in a "nice" gray color. I'm keeping it gray! No more coloring anymore for me! Gray is the new hip color I hear!

ahh thanks everyone! So nice! Las Vegas bound tomorrow for vacation. Will bring my new curling iron hoping I can reproduce the style again, will still wear it curly head though if I cant! Have a beautiful Easter and Passover everyone! Happy spring and I hear hair grows faster in warmer weather so bring on the warmth!

Deem, hang in there. I finished chemo April 20 2012 and shed my wig on July 4. It feels like it's taking forever but I promise it will come back! 3 yrs later and I have thick (curly) brown hair to the middle of my back. I really thought it would only take a few weeks to come in but in truth I didn't feel comfortable going wigless for a couple of months. Best of luck to you and congratulations on finishing chemo. You are a warrior.

Have one more final round of TC to go on Tuesday. All my dark hair and stubble from when we shaved it 2 months ago has fallen out, but I have white fuzz growing. Look like a baby chick. Does this stuff typically fall out later? Didn't expect anything to be growing as chemo still happening

Chloesmom Congrats on finishing chemo on Tuesday.  Welcome to the other side!!!!   I had 4 rounds of TC as well and never lost all my hair.  I went from baby chick fuzz to what my son calls "my scared chicken" look.  It sticks out in every direction and curls at the same time.  I now use gel to calm it down and try to make it look somewhat tame.

Hi Choesmom, welcome to this forum. My white baby chick hair gradually changed color to a light grey and now I'm a darker grey. My hair has been stick straight my whole life so this new head of curls has been a pleasant surprise. It feels like it takes forever to grow back, but it's such a relief the day you finally go out with the wig or cap.

HomeMom,  Your hair looks great!  Your style is similar to mine.  I got my second hair cut a few weeks ago, as it was growing so fast.  As my stylist said when I

sat in the chair, "You DO image

have a Carol Brady mullet going on!"  Lol!  So true!  So while I was loathe to get another haircut, I thought it was the only way to get any kind of style. She cut lots off the sides & back & trimmed the top a little.  I have friends who love it and think it makes me look younger (just celebrated my 68th bday:-).  At the suggestion of someone on this thread, I got myself the world's smallest flat iron to tame the curly stuff in the front (never had anything but stick straight hair before).  I use Chi 44 Iron Guard to protect it from the heat.  I also use some spray wax, Goldwell Unlimitor 4, at the suggestion of my hair stylist.

I am so so happy not to wear my wig.  I hope I was able to change my profile pic from one of me in the wig to this one.  BTW, the wig looks very much like my "old hair."  But for right now, I'm grateful for every new hair on my head:-).

Thanks guys! MomMom did you get your hair colored? It looks awesome! I keep getting told not to color mine, that gray is "in" and it goes well with my skin color.

    Lisa, looking good, very stylish.

HomeMom, no more wigs for you! That looks like a deliberate hairstyle. Your curls look soft and even, now your are going to see the growth happen. Specially since they say hair grows faster in the summer. You look beautiful!

MomMom, you are an inspiration! I could only hope to look that good at 68. Love the hairstyle, it is very flattering. Too funny about your mullet.

Thank you ladies for the compliments - you are very kind.

Homemom, yes, at about 4 months post chemo I first used some demi permanent hair color which I put on myself at the recommendation of my hair stylist.  She cautioned me to definitely not use anything other than DEMI permanent as it was obvious my new chemo hair was not my previous strong hair.  My previous hair color was light brown & I had blonde highlights every 3-4 months.  I could not take the new mousey brown hair color.  I will tell you what I used, but don't recommend the same thing to anyone else, as it all depends on YOUR chemo hair color.  I used Color Brilliance ion demi permanent crème hair color no ammonia, shade 9NB-9.07 with ion Sensitive Scalp 3% developer 10 volume (half of the 4 oz bottle - you can save the other half for next time).  You mix the 2 together in an applicator bottle (which you can clean out & use again).  You can mix several colors together if you want, but again, you need advice from a professional to tell you what products & what colors to select.  These products are from Sally's Beauty & they are cheap - about $4.50 each & they frequently go on sale.  I've used it about 3 x now (about every 5-6 weeks) - it gradually just fades away.  It covers & somewhat changes your entire hair color, but it will be truer to the color shade for the hair that is grayish.  The gray hair that I've always had is at my ears & some at the scalpline - so that actually shows up blonde with this hair color, which I love.  Hope this may help someone, but get advice from a professional.  What I don't like is the same hair color all over & this demi perm. stuff gives you variance - at least it does for me.

I don't know if I will keep it short forever, but one thing I do LOVE is that it only takes mere minutes to do my hair!  My pre-chemo hair was great, but it took about 30-40 minutes every morning to blow it dry, spray it within an inch of its life & use the curling iron all over.  Ugh.  I do not miss that one tiny bit!

    Paula

Wow Lisa.....I love your hair. Mine grew back as " corkscrew "chemo curls.....totally unmanageable. I go for my first hair cut in 2 weeks, 9 months post chemo. Hopefully some of this curl will relax........

I'm almost 4 months out and feel like I have the makings of a mohawk going. I teach high school, and my senior boys all want to see me with a mohawk, lol. I told them if I have enough hair to do it before graduation, I will. But no shaving the sides! :)

    Hi All

My hair grew back thick and curly. I had thin straight hair always.

Started taking Femara 6 months ago and have lost 1/2 my hair and it is still falling out.

I called Novartis today to ask what to do but they said it's the Femara and they don't know how long it will be before it stops. Or I may be wearing a wig again.

The 3 drugs for HER2 positive bc all cause hair to fall out. Sorry to give bad news but this is a fact.

    God bless all.

Hi Ladies, I am 5 months out from my last Taxol, and I called today to schedule a trim to tidy up my wild hairs! The back has grown so long that it shows under my wig. A great problem to have. So still a long way to go..........at least it is something before summer. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Here is a picture of my hair 14 weeks PFC. I got a buzz last week to clean it up and they did take some length off, but I am much happier with my do.
