I have been doing research about hair color. MANY over-the-counter hsir colors hsve ingredients that mess with hormones. I need to go onto Arimidex and am concerned about how to color my hair, even though that will be awile. I have learned that there are many make-up products, lotions, hair products and sunscreen products that can mess with hormones. 64% of the stuff we put on our skin gets absorbed. I do not think I would trust hair salons . They want your business. There are many websites that show ratings of safeness. Scary what we put on our bodies, not to mention, in our bodies!

Anyone have any answers? I will really need to color my hair.......one day!

Wow! Toby, your hair is amazing after such a short time! i am almost 10 months pfc and dont have nearly as much hair! My onc suggested minoxidil shampoo, if I wanted to try it. Is that what you are using? i am already taking biotin.

    Looking great tobycc!!

My hair was also very gray when coming in. I have always pulled a lot of red when coloring my grays. My hair stylist used a neutral brown on me. I believe it was 5N. I've always had medium dark hair.

Toby I posted two links from YouTube on the wrapping maybe a few weeks ago, that should take care of it. I do touch up with flat iron. Hair flipping around the ears and neckline makes it look very un-modern, I am having the same problem. Your growth is the fastest I've heard, I only had buzz cut size hair 4 months after chemo :)

I was all grey prior to chemo but I colored it. Decided to stay natural now, but between the color and the crazy curls it really makes me look older.

I'm 54. Yesterday I took my 80 year old mom to the hospital for a test. Mom was in the bathroom when the nurse called for her, so I got up to explain where she was. As I approached the nurse I said "my mom's in the bathroom". She replied, "Oh, I was just going say you look good for your age." So she thought I could possibly be 80!!!!

I'm a teacher. Prior to chemo when the kids would guess my age they would say 40- 45. But now with the grey hair they say 60. Sometimes it makes me want to color it again, but then I remember what a pain that was. Hoping when it grows out a little more a more youthful style will help.

debiann, gray is very in right now. From your avatar you look like you have a pretty gray color. There was nothing pretty about my gray. Mine was a mousy gray.

hahaha....I don't think she meant you looked 80!! I think she just told a very bad joke. Just for the record, you don't look anywhere close to 60.

I agree. If I had that nice shade of grey, I would go with it. I can't really tell because my top hair hasn't started growing a lot yet but the sides and back are dark. I am 52.

Thanks Slow Deep Breaths & trvler. I'm getting used to the grey, it does seem to be the new "in" color. It's grown since that picture and looking rather silly right now. Flips out funny at the sides and seems to have a mind of its own. Still kind of curly.I'm undecided about letting it grow out or more or picking a short style. I really like the purple highlights they are doing with grey. I think I should be brave and try it!

    Here's a more recent photo.

A few weeks ago I accidently deleted all the photos on my phone. I didn't really care at the time, thought there was nothing important lost, but I just realized all my chemo days and bald photos were on my phone. I'm not sure how I feel about losing them. Certainly not a time I care to remember, guess not having photos will make it easier to forget.

Haven posted a hair pic in a few weeks. tOk here another gray Head!.ive had a few haircuts, at least 4. Im14 mo pfc. Another trim tomorrow. I was brown naturally and colored it to cover the gray for many years but I had no idea of how gray I was until it started growing in. It came in very white which was ok. Now I'm showing some darker strands. I actually prefer the bright white hair but it is very different from my prior color. I'm keeping it gray. No more coloring for me. Maybe it makes me look older but right now I don't care. Just get a "young funky"style. You can pull it off

Below is about 1yr ago at 3 mo pfc and then at 6 mo PFC after my first trim. I've come a long way baby!

Lisa, you look beautiful. Thanks for sharing your pics and especially the timeline. Just curious and you may have said this in a prior post. Did you start to grow it DURING Taxol? I feel like I have a good 3/4 inch on the sides and back. I just had #9 today.

Lisa, I remember your pictures. You are another very lucky lady that has that pretty white color. If mine had come back that color, I never would have colored it. You look great!!

thanks. I love how everyone looks! We all have our own style and any color, length, curl or no curl is perfect because so are we! And I am "only" 55 so being this white is a little early. And my hair TOOK FOREVER to start growing! I had dd taxol every other week for 4 treatments. My hair didn't start growing until about 6 wks pfc. Not much there! Like baby bird hair. See...it'll come back girls even if you think it never will like I did. Have faith. This is 6 wks pfc so trvler if you have 3/4" that's awesome! You're on the way. (Also note the drawn on eyebrows and I have no eyelashes here. They fell out fully about 4 wks after chemo, just when you think you're done with the hair loss...bam! Your body forgot about the brows and lashes! Lol). I never showed these pics much before, but for some reason I don't mind at all now. I think its kind of cool and now that im on the other side. Ok enough pics of me for a while. Love seeing all of you beautiful ladies!

Lisa mine looked like yours did at 11 weeks. It's a month later an now it's staring to curl on top and the side and back are sticking straight out! I look like I stuck my finger in an electric socket.

this is 7.5 months PFC. I buzzed once when all I had was white fuzz and I've had one real haircut over a month ago. I take biotin, but don't use anything else.

Love the short hair Viceroy. Did you wear it short before chemo? Its a good look for you!

I got my first cut & color since chemo today (10 months pfc). It felt so good to sit in the chair and have someone fuss over me yet not stick me with a needle.

I didn't want to start coloring again, but stylist suggested adding some lowlights

    image

and I love it. She said it will be much easier to maintain than coloring the whole head. I'm kind of salt &pepper rather than white now. She used a cap, so the chemicals weren't directly on my scalp. She also used the straightener. Think I need to get one.

Thanks Trvler. It was a great day. Felt like myself, not a patient. However the smell of the haircolor really bothered me. Guess I forgot how potent it is, lol.

    Debiann,

    Your color looks fantastic.

Before chemo my hair was half way down my back. I had never had a pixie cut before but I have been really happy with it as it has grown out. That said, I probably won't keep it short.

Debiann, I found a hairdresser who uses a low ammonia dye called Tocco Magico. It's italian and mostly uses natural ingredients. It smelled good and didn't burn my scalp. There are also others available on line. Maybe, you could purchase and get your hairdresser to use them.

Thanks MJS, I'll look into that hair color. Good smelling would be nice, the stuff today was awful. I don't remember hair color bothering me so much before chemo, but I guess being away from it for over a year I was more sensitive today.

I've had one trim and two colors with highlights. I will be going in on the 31st for another touch up and possibly a trim to get to that bob look! It will be 12 months PFC the first of September and I never ever thought my hair would grow out. I have these curls all over my head that I didn't have before. I was wavy and somewhat curly underneath, but this an all over effect!

I like to play with them though!
