Chloesmom, mine came in very soft when it first started growing back. I always rubbed it because it was so soft. It returned back to my old texture. Thick and wavy. It also came in an ugly gray. Not pretty like some of the women who posted. I colored it after it grew a few inches.

imageThis is about 10 weeks PFC. Had hoped it would be longer by now but it is curly and I have hair that could be an intentional style

Msj: Looks good. Did you color it?

Can anyone explain why, while your hair on your head is growing, your eyebrows, lashes and other body hair isn't yet?

I can't really see, but by feel, it feels like I have spots that are still smooth and bald on the back right side of my head. I am by myself, so can only feel and try to use a mirror. 6 weeks out from chemo. Long peach fuzz. Anyone ever heard of bald spots? I had such thick, pretty hair 6 months ago!

my hair is similar, Mysunshine. My bald spots are above my temples. It definitely seems to be growing more above my ears and round the back than on top....and it's white! Very white... but it's growing so I'm trying to be happy.

I did color my hair. I am using a salon that uses low chemical hair color. It is unfortunately more than 50% white but I can't blame it on chemo. I first went a medium brown which was much lighter than normal for me. Although my friends liked it, it just didn't feel like me and made me look older. The darker color frames my face much better and is close to my original color. Next up, low lights.

I did have bald spots as my hair was coming in. Sides and back came in much faster than top. I have had the sides trimmed up a bit so I have a style but not cut significantly.

whats thought on all the facial hair after chemo. It's getting long. Only had a little peach fuzz before so not used to this. How long til that gets back to normal?

live deliciously I'm three months out and plucking face hair like crazy. I think it will subside, but mine hasn't yet. It is ridiculous, and I spend more time plucking hairs than anything else I do

thought it was only me. Seemed to get a lot of fuzz on my face during chemo while all other hair was gone. And it's still there.

nope. Just got back from weekend in Big Bear, showered and 45 minutes of plucking. Growing hair where I don't want it. I figure if I didn't pluck them they would be about 4 inches long now. And hair on my head? 1 inch - go figure!

I thought I was the only one with facial hair. I'm debating on stopping the biotin. It's super fine hair, but it bugs me to no end.

Do eyelashes and eyebrows always come back? I see nothing....only about 1/4" on my head. How about pubic hair? Geeezzzz

Eye lashs & brows are on a totally different re-growth system than the hair on your head. And sad to say, the eye brows may come in and then fall out again, although that didn't happen to me. Anyway, the timing won't match.

I finished Herceptin almost a year ago. I had downy white chin hairs w/a few black specimens. Most of the long downy hairs are gone. I just head to the electrolysis lady for the black volunteers. Anyway, I'm still taking Biotin and it doesn't seem to really relate to chin hairs.

I've got that facial hair thing too! And it's super fine, fuzz...long fuzz that I see in my magnifying make-up mirror. (I don't notice in a regular mirror--but maybe that's my eyes!) Anyways...it's too much to pluck, maybe I'll try waxing? I hadn't thought about stopping the Biotin.

Eyebrows are pretty much back to normal...lower lashes okay too, but my upper lashes have a long ways to go. They are sort of "crooked" also, like they aren't growing straight out and they aren't long enough for the eyelash curler. If I try to put mascara on, it looks worse. I wish I could get the hang of the false eyelashes!

    Hello All,

Been awhile since I've posted, but I still love this thread and its supportiveness. At this point (last chemo 7/24/14) my hair is so thick it has to be thinned out when I get haircuts so it will lay to the side, and with my new short do, I need to get a haircut every 4 weeks! I love and am embracing my short hair!! I feel like I will never go back to longer hair and my previous styling regime - 45 minutes! - to get my super straight hair to have some body and curve to it. This hair is effortless and takes me 5 minutes!! I now get it highlighted (you can see my dark roots-I'm due to get some more next visit). My immediate post-chemo hair was very curly in the front only - that curl has nearly grown out completely and I'm back to my straight hair. Its so short, that I need only to put some mousse in damp hair, blow it quickly dry (no styling required) and use a bit of a mini flat iron in front to make sure the ends are straight. I get lots of compliments, but what I love most is the ease of short hair. I can actually thank chemo for that. Who'd thunk it-:)! In my post professional career, I took up acting about 15 years ago. I could not submit for anything as long as I was in treatment for a year, my eyes were watering (thank you dry eyes post chemo, but now OK!) and funky post-chemo hair. But now I'm brave enough to audition when that rare opportunity presents itself (I'm 68). I've auditioned twice recently. Didn't get the first one (for Medicare) maybe because my hair was still kinda weird in the front. But, with this current look, I was cast in a national commercial at the second audition, which filmed last Monday! Yay!! So much fun. Don't know when or where it will air. I live in Northern VA & was told it will air on West coast.

Want to give hope to all you ladies who are just post chemo and think you will never be happy with your hair again. You will. And a huge thank you to all of you who posted when I was bald and grew Yoda hair post chemo. Your posts got me through that phase.image

My first reaction was 'wow, you look great', when I read your age I did a double 'wow'. thanks for your words of encouragement, I have peach fuzz that I check daily (with a magnifying mirror :-) to see if it has grown. I'm 6.5 weeks PFC.

Cats, Lori, Nancy, Thank you so much for the compliments. As mentioned, I am especially grateful for the postings on progress when I was bald & waiting for those sprouts to appear. If you are still reading the thread - thank you Lago! And you too Lisa (another bc sister who ended up embracing her post chemo hair!).

Lori, I have been blessed with good skin and I do take care of it. I've worn sunscreen every day of the year since my early 30's. Also, with the acting, I've perfected the art of good make-up.

Hi mommom, yes I still keep track of the us hair obsessed gals! But haven't posted in a while but now time to give encouragement.imagethis is 8 wks pfc(I was a slow grower! Took forever!)

    imageThen this about 4mo pfc

rthen this at about 8mo pfc and after a haircut image. and nowimagemessy hair day! I don't care! I am 1yr 4 mo pfc. Have had many haircuts to keep it short. I colored it before, now keeping it gray as there is just too much gray to color and I like the white gray...most days. It came it grayer I think. I am 55yo. Sorry to take up so much space but I don't know how to put the pics together in a line although I've figured out how to make them smaller)

Happy hair growing girls. It will happen, I was one of those that was so slow I thought it'd never come back but it does even if different. Love the new you. When else can you try out a short hairstyle and it looks fabulous on all of us

What about us girls who are on Arimidex? I have been reading so much about estrogen inhibitors keeping hair from coming in and when it does, it is slow and thin.

Mysunshine - oh,oh... You've been haunting google again. Don't know about Arimidex, but Herceptin definitely slows growth. Someone else will post soon.

Alice - I didn't have hair growth during TCHP, but it started growing shortly after. I was on Herceptin for a year and that does cause the growth to be slower - but mine did grow nice & thick and darker than it was before I started. Good luck w/your 3rd treatment.

alice, no growth during TCHP for me. At 4 weeks PFC I could see some new hair sprouting. I watched and watched for new growth. It happens. Hang in there. :)

Minustwo, I just read about Arimidex. And, I see pictures on here of women and their hair growth while I hsve peach fuzz and nothing on the back right side. Most of what I learn is on this site. I am just concerned. With all we go through, it would be nice to get my hair back
