Me too Tyler! Though it does look great!
Wouldn't a girls getaway at the Hotel Del be great right about now?

Where is the Hotel Del? Is this my east coast provincialism showing through (not for the first time)?

Rain, it is an affectionate nickname for the historic (built in Victorian era) Hotel Del Coronado, on the beach on Coronado Island, in San Diego. It's a California thing. We are probably the ones being provincial. But we'd love to meet you there....

It sounds wonderful, and I'd probably love to go there! It's been ages since I've been to San Diego, but I enjoyed it.
Sadly, my travel time this spring will be devoted to college visits (suggestions welcome). We're starting with Philadelphia in a couple of weeks.

Thanks, Sloan! Looks terrific! I can't wait to try it. My hair has always been extremely curly. Right now it's very short, very gray, and very curly.

I did it!!! I came to work without any covering at all on my head. Yes, it's very short and there's still a few spots that need to fill in but guess what... I DON'T CARE!! This is very liberating.

Hurray, justmaximom! You are brave. I am trying to talk myself into that but am not quite ready yet. Soon!
Do you happen to live near Kansas City?

Thanks Celeste. I'm actually in the St. Louis area.

Justmaximom - yay! It is so liberating! Good for you!

Yay, Justmaximom! I bet it feels great!

Octogirl - Oh man I love Hotel Coronado!!
Wahoo! Justmaximom!

I visited the Del once. I always wanted to stay there.

Justmaximom, you are my hero!
Sloan, yes, Hotel Del = Heaven. I've visited several times when we've been in San Diego to see relatives, though I've only stayed there once for a conference. I think I had the best seafood and avocado salad of my life there, enjoyed outside with a view of the ocean. My DH has a fifteen year old sweatshirt from there that is so ratty that the neckband is separating from the shirt, yet he refuses to part with it.

Figured it was time to post a pic of my hair 5.5 m PFC.

Trvler - Looks great! I can't wait until I have more than an inch of hair! It seems to be taking forever. Do you take biotin?

Trvler, your hair is beautiful!

Thanks. I do take biotin. I can't really say if it helps or not.

Trvler, your hair looks amazing. Only 5.5 months out, that's great!
Sloan, your hair is so cute. I've been blowing out my wavy hair for 20 years, never even heard of wrap strips. Where would one get them?
I'm probably about 5 days away from the big fall-out. I bought a wig this weekend and to my own shock and surprise, I liked a synthetic one so much I ended up buying it instead of holding out for human hair. I actually think it looks really good and my husband likes it. It's a bob, much shorter than my current shoulder length but I've had tons of bobs in the past and always liked them. It's weird, I never worried about drastic changes to my actual hair but feel I need to warn my office before my first wig day.
I also ended up getting a hat with hair, whatever they're called, and a head cover so I'm ready. It was kind of fun playing with all that stuff. I bought from a shop that specializes in cancer hair issues and the owner was so sweet and helpful. She could have ordered a human hair wig for me (she just doesn't keep them on hand) but I really did get swept away. I guess if people keep asking me if I'm wearing a wig I can always go get a human hair one.

Paxton, so good that you have a wig that you love and you're ready!
Very few people at my son's school know about my diagnosis. This morning I chaperoned the fourth grade field trip, and one of the other moms said "Your hair is lighter. I really like it!" I've been wearing the wig for five months, and comments about my "hair" still take me a little off guard. Guess this means I have not been the topic of gossip among the other parents, which makes me happy!

Peachy, I got so many compliments on my 'hair' I began to realize my wig looks better than my real hair.

Paxton - I chose synthetic also & passed on the human hair. Absolutely no one ever guessed. Many people said the short cut made me look 10 years younger. LOL

Paxton: good job getting ready! I know I felt much more prepared once I had the wig situation taken care of.
I've gotten many compliments on my "hair" from people who had no idea. Which made me think it really is a good wig.
Allison, you have a lot of hair! You're a couple of weeks ahead of me PFC, but mine isn't nearly as long. They say Herceptin slows down hair growth, so if you and I are a comparison, that might be true.

Sloan - you are too cute! Love the tips! Thank you!
Trvler - wow, look at all that beautiful hair you have! Amazing!
Thanks for sharing!!!

Paxton - Yeah, I'm 51, so I've been blowing out my hair for a long long time. (Loved the 80's when big hair was in!! haha) When my hair gets to be at least 2-3 inches long I can start to blow it straight with a round brush style it. But, for right now, it just sticks straight up...hence the wraps. You can buy them at beauty supply places that carry products for multicultural hair. My local doesn't carry them, so I get them on Amazon. I get the Wrap It strips with a velcro cap to hold it in place. They are a little more expensive on Amazon, but $7 for a bunch of them is cheaper than the haircuts I'm not getting...
Dee --where do you get your color conditioner?

Sloan-here where I live in Central Canada there isn't a huge selection of multicultural hair products. I may have to check out Amazon. My hair was curly before, but not quite this curly. It gets kinkier everyday. It seems to go every direction....I may need to get it trimmed to even it out. I just don't want to loose any length. Yours is quite a bit longer than mine.
I bought my conditioner at a hair place in the mall. I just told them I wanted a product to color my hair that was gentle. I am not risking breaking my new hair off with a permanent dye. Just ask at any hair supply place. They may have a similar product.

I have not posted on this thread yet but have been reading along with all of your posts. It is so nice to see the pictures and hair growth and such positive reinforcement from everyone. It is amazing how much we all want our hair to grow back at such a fast pace. I am 11 weeks PFC today and can say I am seeing it growing in faster. I just started taking Biotin this week in hopes it helps the growth along. I can say the top is really slow so not sure when I will have enough guts to go without my wig. M y daughter is getting married in June so really hoping I have enough hair by then to at least style some way. These posts give me encouragement.
Like reading positive posts and seeing pictures so keep them coming. At some point I might get enough nerve to post a picture
Have a great week.

Duzy, glad to have you here! My last treatment was November 5, and I'm hoping to look presentable sans-wig for my birthday in June. We can think happy hair growth thoughts together!

Sloan...looks great! Mine pretty much stands straight up at this point. I use Surface texurizer cream. It gets it to lay flat.

tjh - I tried to Google Surface texturizer cream, but I couldn't find it. There is a Surface texturizer paste in a greenish container, is that the one?

Yep...I got it from my salon. I just use a small dab, rub my hands together and the rub it on my hair. Then it stays down. It is very wirey. It was very straight and fine before chemo.
