Thank you Lovestofly. I am holding on to the stubble, it's not much but I have had a very difficult time adjusting to a wig. God bless your confidence I wish I had it. I would prefer a ball cap, but it's not appropriate for an office setting

Molliefish, I understand. I found myself getting weeping with my last chemo approaching. I think I too am craving normalcy, life as it use to be. I hope I will be there soon. Great to hear work outs are going well

Veronica, were there or are there any restrictions or concerns with the fake eyelash glue etc? I friend had said we aren't able to use it due to infection, but maybe that's just while on chemo??? Thanks for the tips.

Myra, I was excited because the brand Bibo that you mentioned in your YouTube popped up in my FB and I was able to order the face primer and foundation. Looking forward to trying that. Had my 3rd of 4 infusions yesterday, so will be moving on the phase 3 in a few weeks!

Thanks for all the tips in advance on this thread. Dara

It's extremely hard to get false eyelashes on with no lashes to attach them to.

trvler I could never do it...but good eyeliner hides lack of lashes well.

I agree with Jill. I gave up on the lashes and just used eyeliner.

Oh. Em. Gee!! I went to Sephora today and got a lesson on applying lashes. I LOVE them! They are Sephora brand and look very natural. I also got an adhesive for sensitive eyes with a thin brush applicator. The band that fits over your lid is so much thinner than the brands i've tried before from the pharmacy. Thank you Veronica!!

Thanks for the false lashes tips! I'm just over 6 weeks PFC and have baby lashes now.

Yesterday one of my rads techs had fans for lashes! I wear glasses, so even if I wanted them, I couldn't wear them that long.

When I had practically no lashes, I sort of glued them to my lid and used black eyeliner. As I've gotten more lashes, I realized I was actually supposed to nest them on top of my real lashes. When you don't have any, though, or very few, it's hard to tell the difference. Now I use Pixi bottom lash mascara - what will they think of next - on top and bottom lashes, then use Ardell (crap, chemo brain) demi wispies fake lashes available at Walgreens. No, they're not as fab as my extensions, but they're pretty enough.

I'm posting, though, because DBF read an article where peppermint was tested on mice against Minoxidil and shown to be just as effective in promoting hair growth. I mixed some peppermint oil with almond oil and have some straight peppermint oil and switch back and forth each night before bed. I'm almost 8 weeks PFC, but I had hair fallout about 3 weeks after PFC. I think the peppermint might be working. The reason I say that is because I'm sure more gets on top than on the sides because I sort of shake it there instead of making a real effort to evenly apply it and my hair is definitely thicker there.

It could be placebo, but it also feels nice on my scalp. So maybe this will help someone else. Happy hair growing!

You know, I never realized the hair growth part happened so freaking slowly. I don't know how fast I imagined it happened, but I think I pictured chin length way quicker than it's ever going to be there. Lol on me more time, BC.

I'm using peppermint oil in almond oil, too! I also infused the almond oil with some dried rosemary. I'm out of rosemary oil, and I didn't buy a rosemary plant this year. It's been 2 weeks since I started this oil along with serious scalp massage. I can see new growth almost every day. My husband thought I was being ridiculous asking for a hair check so often until he saw the difference. Could be coincidence, but at least it feels good.

OHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm getting some rosemary on my way into H-town on Sunday. DBF managed to kill my rosemary bush while I was in treatment. Scared Herb garden reconstruction will have to wait for next year, I fear. The oregano bush I was gifted was killed during a week hospital stay. I live with DBF and two adult children. You'd think someone would love me enough to keep some of the things I love most alive. (But I'm too sensitive about my plants, lol)

I just love the tingly feeling!!!!!!!!! It just feels like it's opening up my pores and letting the hair free to grow, grow, grow!

Frill - Sorry to read about the dead herbs. I'm horrible with keeping plants alive inside. I like to grow herbs outside for that reason, but rosemary doesn't survive the winters here. I infused the oil with dried rosemary and tea in hopes that it would darken my hair. I do have muchless white, but I don't know if it's from the infusion. I do love the tinglies from peppermint oil!

    Wendi - That's quite a serene desk!

DaraB: I didn't try to put the lashes on until about two months after chemo. I had heard about risk of infection during chemo, but afterwards I don't think it's a problem.

    hi all,

I don't get on this site often enough this days, but I was reading some of your comments and concerns. Like Frill stated, hair grows extremely slow and it seems slower when you're watching and waiting.

Postchemo, I was very conscious about my eyelashes since it grew in patches. Anyway, I saw my dermatologist and she recommended Latisse. She wasn't sure if insurance covered it, so she gave me the sample kit (5 weeks worth, I think). And that was enough to even out my lashes, nothing extraordinary, just enough to not make me self- conscious. She also recommended Biotin since my nails kept breaking and cracking plus it helped with hair growth. The first yr post seems to be very slow, but now coming up on my 2nd yr, my hair has just sprouted, its past my shoulder now.

I hope the remedies you're trying helps. Just adding some input out there.

Hi Myra, I do Crossfit at home. I have a friend who prepares a months workouts and emails them to me. I had to start out really slowly and didn't really feel normal until May this year. That's 6 months, give or take, after my final Chemo.

One Latisse tip that my person gave me was to use an eyeliner brush rather than the brushes that come with the Latisse kit. Wow - talk about waste and overpackaging THERE! You wind up using a ton less and can be more precise, so a month's supply can be stretched longer than that. I use one drop a night and can line my lashes and brows twice. I paid out of pocket so I want to make every drop count. I know with the Revitalash it took more than a month to notice a difference and I had lashes. Now, I don't notice any heart stopping lashes, but they're definitely longer. My lash extension person said my lashes grew really fast, even during chemo, before the big fallout during FAC, so I don't know if there's anything new. Still, I think it takes time, time time (singing to myself in my head) to work.

Wendi: Wave!!!!! I recognize your picture from chemo or November surgeries or both! I hope the peppermint oil works for you! If nothing else, it feels good and it feels like you're doing something. I did notice today, it's been two weeks of steady peppermint, and I feel like I can see a difference. That would be just about one month from the post chemo fall out and I think I am catching up pretty steadily to where I was before. The sides are starting to fill in way more. I should start taking pictures to make sure I'm not imagining things.

Izzyfran: It's good to know the hair growth speeds up. It feels like it's so slow right now, but I try to tell myself I'm starting from ground zero. Plus my body's working on a lot of stuff besides just growing hair. It might be low on the body's priority list right now. Maybe I should set up a conference call. The body might talk about rejuvenating cells and replenishing stuff, though. Lol!

One more question, does Latrisse darken your eye color? I'd heard that when it first came out.

Hi all, i'd like to offer a comment and question about the Latisse. I have been a Latisse user for at least a year prior to my diagnosis. I had also heard about changing the eyecolor but I have not experienced any changes. I was also told about using an eyeliner brush. If you do use an eyeliner brush, rather than the daily brushes supplied, please be sure to wash the brush every day. I generally put a drop in the lid, use one of the daily brushes rovided to get the fluid, and that is usually enough to swipe both eyes lids. I have had great success and would highly recommend the product.

I am on a protocol of 12 weekly Taxol and Herceptin treatments (I did not have any other prior chemo drugs) and still use Latisse on my eyelids every night. I'm not sure if I will eventually lose my eyebrows and eye lashes but I was told with the just weekly taxol protocol, I will have some to all hair loss. I am starting week five, and I've lost about 90% of the hair on my head. Eyebrows and eyelashes are still intact

I never considered using the Latisse for my eyebrows. I may just give it a try

    Thanks. M

I read up on Latisse, and I think as long as you don't get it in your eye, you will be fine as far as eye color.

I didn't lose my brows and lashes until the end of taxol. They came back pretty fast.

Akioli, OMG, your hairdo is adorable!

I checked out Latisse and I'm a little concerned about the ingredients. It says it contains prostaglandins which have a hormonaleffect on the body. I'm trying to avoid all the Parabens and phytoestrogens in products that I can. Wondering if this is a bad idea....

myraknits- I'm with you when it comes to parabens and phytoestrogens. Iambs found other cosmetics that are paraben, phylate , phytoestroge free that claim to grow lashes, just not sure how well they work. I too am looking for options, please keep me posted if you fimd an alternative.

Ladies, I love the hair styles posted...hoping one day soon to post a pic of my sprouts<

Love the hair pics. Everyone tells me I have so much hair but to me it's too thin on top for me to totally ditch my wig. I'll post a pict as soon as I can figure out how to get it from my phone to my laptop.
