Catlady44, I haven't about the keranique. I made an appt with a dermatologist to see if she can help. I hate to obsess about it, but I can't help it. Still very little growth right in front. Everything else is growing but at a slow rate. I'll post back after my appt, if she gives me a miracle cure. I'm also leaving in 3 weeks for new orleans to have diep reconstruction surgery, so I've got a lot on my plate right now. Dawnann

dawnann, - curious to read update re your dermo appt. My hair is thin and awful, and top front is whispy and hardly grows at all. ugh

The dermo that I saw a couple months ago suggested rogaine (10%!) and twice a week red light treatments, plus a possible script for something (propecia maybe?) and a change in my blood pressure med. He seemed like it was all a sales pitch to get me hooked and build up his bank account. I never went back , and here I sit with a hair topper as I type this. I hope you get good suggestions and good results from your dermo! (and of course same for your upcoming diep!)

re eyebrows, - mine fell out after all chemo was completed, - but they grew back quickly, although not as full as before chemo!

AnotherNYCG, sorry to hear you didn't get any help from the dermo. I probably wouldn't go either, but I need to have a skin check too. Im curious, how long were you on chemo?

dawnann, I was on chemo for 3-4 months, but my hair had gotten thinner prior to chemo from tamoxifin and femara, and didnt recoup to what I'd had. A recent blood test showed 'within range' of ferritan (sp?) level, but I was told that it is low for hair growth. I am trying to eat more foods with iron to raise that and maybe it will help.

Hope you get good suggestions from your dermo!

Retzie, I haven’t lost my brows and lashes yet but my hair stylist recommended a makeup artist at the MAC Cosmetics counter to show me how to do my brows and lashes. The lash tutorial was especially helpful for me and he told me to come back when I lose them if I need help then. If you’re still having a hard time, maybe trying one of the makeup counters can help. If you have a MAC, they seem to do a lot of that

imageSo had my second haircut today since my hair started growing back. Was afraid to cut it again but realized i need to get it cut so it can grow back to my old bob. Here's my hair photos. First photo is 3 months after chemo ended, second photo is at 6 months and right after my first haircut and third photo is at 9 months post chemo today after my second haircut. It's getting there.

Leesa, I am so envious! Your hair looks great! I had surgery and chemo the same time as you and I am hoping that my hair is long enough by next month for color/cut. A year in wigs is tough! Here’s hoping ny hair turns out as good as yours. Thanks for your inspiration!

I did nothing to my hair during chemo. Last one was 06/26/17. Got a trim sometime late 2017. Now my hair is super curly. Never had curly hair before. For the most part I like it.

    Thank You Flynn😘!!

CSE70- Thank You!! Yes a year is a long time and I know how you feel. The first

photo I posted I had already had my hair colored and you can see it was just starting to grow back. My hair came back totally grey which I had never had before so my colorist used a really gentle color on what little hair I had and it worked. I've had it colored twice since then and each time we go a little lighter. So even if your not ready for a cut you might be able to color it. Getting the color first time was such a boost for me. Having patience is the hardest part and I get so upset sometimes still at the snails pace I feel it is growing at. When I look at

the comparison photos that's when I can see the progress. Best of Luck to you and I look forward to seeing photos!

Castigame- your hair is so long and looks awesome!!

Hi all, I am three years out of chemo and I dye my hair blonde. Since chemo my hair turns bright orange when I dye it. The only thing that doesn't turn it orange is bleach but that has destroyed me hair. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them. If so, what have you done to keep it from turning orange? I would think after three years this wouldn't happen anymore, but yet it does. It's very frustrating!!! Thanks!

Thank you LoveCanads! I’ll get by the MAC counter. Currently, I’ve been using Rogaine each night and Latisse on my brows and lashes. My lashes on bottom are almost back to normal but I need another 2 months growth on the top. I feel like my hair has slowed to a crawl on regrowth. It may be subliminal but I’m not seeing any progress. Two weeks until I’m back to work. I’m not ready but I must go back to preserve the insurance that is keeping me alive. Stay strong ladies! Thank you for the support I feel from this site

So frustrating, just wanted to share with you and ask if any of you has had similar issues. I finished Taxotere/Cytoxan chemo 11 months ago. I had no problems after my lashes grew back. My left lashes were alway thinner during treatments and post treatments. Now, 11 months later, My left lashes are shedding again. Not all lashes, but they have gotten thinner. In 1 cm. Area, I lost all the long lashes and I am getting new ones. A real bummer!!

So I got my hair dyed “organically” 3/1/18 - the color came out a reddish apricot color that I hated. - was supposed to be dark brown. Waited an appropriate amount of time and dyed it myself - darkest cool brown was the description. Nope. Darker than before, but not anything near what I want. It’s like my hair is repelling the color. Anyone else have this issue? My next step is to go to my normal salon I guess- been avoiding that because last time I was there I had hair down my back. Sometimes I hate the awkward “BC” talk!

imageMy last chemo was March 27, 2017. I decided to just keep the new gray color. My hair came back as curly and thick as it was before. Don't give up hope. My hair growth was very slow, but at least it was growing. I've had only two haircuts - one in February and one in March.

I just love that you have brows and lashes. I have stubby lashes that are translucent and my brows have grown back also clear and invisible unless I pencil them in. I still look as though I am on chemo three years later. Some day I'm sure it won't matter but right now it's a little frustrating.

    Hello All,

I am 8 months PFC. Having my port out in a couple weeks. Yeah! I'm looking for advice. My hair is about 3 inches long. Very curly in the back. Able to smooth front straight. It's just long enough to twist the very front along the hairline with bobby pins. Should I just let grow or try to have it shaped into some sort of a haircut. I had long straight hair before. It was lovely. Sniff! My hairstylist seems to have no suggestions which is disheartening.

    Loofa-you look great!

mollie: My eyelashes and eyebrows fell out 6 weeks after my last chemo. My brows are really thin and there is a lot of gray in them now. My lashes have fallen out in large chunks twice since May 2017. At first, they grew in long and beautifully curled, but now they are short and scraggly. I'm hoping they improve a little since losing a bunch a few weeks ago.

I lost my lashes 3 times. With the first time being complete and the others having some new ones here and there. I use Grande lash MD and my lashes are longer than they have ever been.

Can you use products like Grande Lash MD or latisse while still on chemo or do you have to wait till it's over?

Went to see dermatologist today. Waste of time. she recommended viviscal supplement and otc Rogaine. Thanks for nothing! I've learned more from you ladies on this forum and no copay. I finished chemo about a year and a half ago. Eyebrows very sparse too, but I draw them in. Real tired of the jack Nicholson hairlineDevil

dawnann, I'm sure you are terribly frustrated. Your hair actually is looking better than mine (almost 18 mos now from final TCHP), still very sparse in the top going toward the back. It's better than it was, but that's about all I can say. I can't go out of the house without a scarf or the wig.

I keep debating the merits of seeing a dermatologist. I'm not sure if I'm looking for them to give me some measures to help it, or tell me to stop trying as this is as good as it will get. What did yours think on the prospects for it to get there in time?

I haven't heard of that particular supplement Viviscal. Have been taking Biotin for a while after it became clear I was not going to see a fast result on the hair front.

dawn...was hair thin before treatments? I hope it keeps coming in for you you have some good length. I bet a hair topper could work for you.

dawnann, - at least your dermo didnt suggest 10% prescription rogaine as mine did , along with twice weekly visits for his red light treatments! ;)

I tried biotin with no results, I will see what viviscal has in it to compare to another supplement that my daughter suggested that I have yet to try.

In your photo, the hair that you have seems to be coming in thick enough, so there's hope for the rest to fill in! My hair is thin all over the top and doesnt seem to grow. I think I mentioned here that I rely a lot on toppers, - Sonata by Raquel Welch, and also Lyric by Raquel W work well for me.

Let us know how your new supplement is!
