Congratulations to ALL of you that are struggling to become smoke-free and those that have been smoke-free! It's not an easy task. I too have a zero nicotine e-cig which I use now and then. I call it my crutch, my binky. LOL Just don't like to chew gum all the time.
Just for today, I did not smoke!

Hello ladies. Congrats on not smoking today no matter how we achieve it. It's a big achievement and we deserve a big clap on the back!

Hope everyone is hanging in there and smoke free! Another week down for me! No major cravings, even when I wanted to kick my DH in the butt! Couldn't if I tried cause I'm still in too much pain but it sure sounded good one day.

Beckers, another week ... soon you will be counting in months. Where is Jo1955 .... haven't seen her on this thread. Is everyone taking a break?

WTG Beckers! Another day for me too. I had my windows open today and someone else's smoke came into my house. It was probably from 2 houses away. The woman there likes to sit on her porch and smoke. I could totally smell it and it did not smell good.

What has happened, folks started smoking again or what? Just for today, I've not smoked. Sadly, have thought about it but got up and did things instead and of course ate too.0

Still not smoking here!!!!!!!!! I don't know where everyone went. )

Way to go galsal and Beckers, both of you must be counting by months now? I think everyone is enjoying Indian summer and the start of the football season.

Hello ladies! I was thinking the same thing .... where did everyone go? Galsal, I hear you! Yesterday, my dear friend asked me if I wanted to have a glass of wine at her local pub. I had to decline because I told her if I did that, I wanted a smoke. Man, it's been 21 months since I have a smoke but it's still there. I don't understand the little devil!

JudiH, it was 20 mos. today and that first cigarette of the AM that my daughter has, just smells like heaven. They are devilish little cylinders!!

Ugh. Cannot stand the smell of them. I still get inexplicable cravings, but so far I have not acted on them. The worst of the craves don't last long anyway. So I'm still smoke-free. Basically been smoke-free since February 11th, so I guess that's 7 months. I've had an occasional six-pack of beer or less. Two or three times I'd say. Basically I avoid alcohol so that I don't screw up my quit.

I think they stink. It is when I get upset/angry that I want to smoke. Drinking and being around others doesn't get to me but stress does. Need to find new ways to chill out!

Bevdurrant,
Having just gone through this surgery, I would definitely quit for quite a few weeks. I had 8 1/2 weeks. I've heard the min is 3 weeks. My PS even nicotine tested me and he would have waited even longer. It's too hard of a surgery to risk complications. I never thought I could quit either.0 -

Bevdurant, I ran across a pic on yahoo images today of breast reconstruction on a patient that did not quit smoking. It was bad.

Bevdurrant - I'm so happy to hear you have 2 days!!! It was hard in the beginning but over this next week it stops nagging at you. I got one of those nicotine free ecigs at a smoke shop to use in the tough times and this group helped so much. Stay close. I had 8 weeks when I had surgery. The first week I used a patch and then an ecig beyond that for about a week that had some nicotine and i went to Las Vegas for a weekend so there was second hand smoke. So....I was probably only 6 weeks TRULY nicotine free at time of surgery. I have had a problem with an infected nipple because they saved my own but other than that, I think I have healed pretty darn well considering. Surgery is a great motivator. Keep up the good work!!!

With Flap surgery it should be longer than the minimum. TE placement = 3 weeks. Ideally 6. I'll have 4 weeks off nicotine and 10 weeks no cigarettes come "D-day". TE's and no flaps for me......I have nothing TO flap!

Great going ladies on the nonsmoking! Believe it or no, I'm 21 months smoke free as of yesterday. Now, I had totally forgotten about it until I came online and read your comments. When I had my surgery to remove the lump, I was smoke free 1 1/4 day, and 2 weeks smoke free before the next surgery - hard to believe!

I just felt a craving out of the blue. It was fleeting, but a sneaky bugger nonetheless!
