Regarding the quote:  I found it somewhere and no author was listed.  I thought the words expressed some to the trials and tribulations that those with illness endure.

Jazzy/Janet  Warm thougths and gentle cyber hugs as you go through this next phase.  I will be looking for your posts to reassure the gang here that you are doing well.

Kathy, Laura (if you are feeling better)  Lorraine, and Athena,  the next steps are close at hand as you travel that road to completion.  Know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers.  I hope that you get well by the 28thy Laura.

Sueg   The thought of 3 men doing design planning on your nipple reconstruction sounds hilarious.  I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall to listen to the dialog of this "planning"  I am glad that you checked in and know that you are doing well.

Coolbreeze,  I know that you won't be able to get to us to let us know how you are doing, but looking forward to hearing from you.  I have been thinking of you all morning and will continue to pray until I now that you are doing OK.  Time will help you as the days progress and just keep talking about it.  Deborah is so right get the @!%&!@ cancer out!  Every journey starts with that first step, no matter how hard it is.  Jan

I am so pissed, I am so crushed and I am so disappointed, I've been crying all morning. I just found out that I probably won't be able to have my exchange until Jan ! The hospital is overrun with new aggressive breast cancer patients and there just isn't enough operating room time to go around. I'm in fine shape I'll tell ya, I had an argument on the phone this morning with my PS's secretary who does the scheduling - you know where that's going to get me on the list.......... I'm just so fed up with all this, I just want to have this final stage over and done with so I can move on.

    Sorry for venting

I am scheduled for my exchange surgery on November 4th - two weeks from today! I can't wait! I was wondering if you wonderful ladies can help me out as to what I can expect. I like to be prepared. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Terri-I too would be devasted if they change my date. When were you supposed to have your surgery?

((((((Janet)))))Thinking about you and watching for posts here and FB.  I hope you are well.

((((Laura))))) How are you feeling?  Improving I hope.

((((Cool breeze))))-- think about waking up for the first cancer free, in who knows how long.  You're at a really tough part of the journey, but you will get past this and whatever else comes your way.  It isn't easy for any of us, we all have our trials over different aspects, emotions, and fears--but somehow we get thorugh it.  Someone on this thread, who I love and adore, reminded me to just keep moving--I think about that every day.

    Happy Day to All,

    Karen

Terri: Okay darlin'....I need to be your voice of reason here.  November was too early for your exchange.  You need a good three months between your last fill and the exchange, because you are going considerably larger with implants vs. TE's and also - your skin is really tight...very shiny and I can see some stretch mark striations in the lower pole.  So I am glad you need to wait from the standpoint of getting the best cosmetic result you can from this expansion.  I know it is freakishly disappointing to wait....but you want the very best outcome possible and I think you need to look at it this way.  Perhaps in December you can get in on a cancellation....my PS said they get tons of non-emergent cancellations in December - and exchange surgery is a non-emergent procedure.  But I think you need this additional time.  Hang in there and hang in here and the date will be here before you know it.....

    Hi Terri,

From your fellow Montrealer...we know we have a cruddy system and the hospitals are a disaster, but I have also heard that the longer we wait for exchange the better. Isnt this true?! I am at the Royal Vic and the wait time is no different. I have a friend that was due in early Aug and just got her scheduling phone call last week. Hang in there! Stay positive! I will be at your hospital tomorrow - 7th floor to see Dr. Panaschi - you know him?

Deborah: Thanks for being my voice of reason.... I guess I'm disappointed because all along he said that I would be done with everything come the fall, barring complications. Everything went so smoothly (knock on wood) no infections, no nerosis...nothing. I even asked in Sept if I could be exchanged by Xmas and he said yes. I guess as you said, it's better to wait and have a good outcome than to rush it. You're right as usual.... OK, I'm going to take a deep breath and relax. I know in the end it's for the best.

Kerkle: Hello fellow Montrealer!  I actually can't say anything bad about the Medicare system so far. Everything has gone really smoothly for me and I love the JGH and the doctors. I guess I was taken by surprise by the delay and just frustrated because these things are sooooooo hard and I haven't slept in bed since July! The thought of being on the sofa till Jan is very disturbing. BTW, Dr Panaschi is my doctor as well! Small world isn't it? Dr P is my ONC and Dr Sigman is my BS. Both excellent Dr's........

Don: I never had an actual surgery date but it was supposed to be sometime late fall end of Oct or beginning of Nov. It's now been pushed to Jan. The reason being that there has been an "outbreak" of new cancer patients who need immediate surgery and so everyone got pushed back. The secretary told me this morning that one of the cases is so advanced that her sternum is practically crumbling...how can I argue with that, I feel for that poor woman. Guess I have no choice but to wait my turn and as Deborah the "Breast Whisperer" said, it can only make for a better outcome in the end.

Laura - I am so glad you are feeling better!   Now, I'll be able to hear your voice when I call.  You were pretty hoarse.

Judy -- It is nice to at least have something scheduled, isn't it?

Terri - So, sorry about your delay.  I know you are disappointed.  I remember someone from Canada being on the cancellation list every day for weeks, and her day finally arrived.  Does anyone remember who that was?

Laura: Welcome back to the land of the living! Glad you're feeling better !!!!!!!!

Robin: I think it was Jean who's surgery kept getting delayed but I may be wrong.... I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a cancellation but I doubt it will be anytime soon.

Denise: Thanks - I really am disappointed but Deborah knows best and if she says (and you) that it's better to wait, then wait it is. Boy, I'm really going to have high expectations after this!!!!!.....lol

Coolbreeze:  So glad to hear that your surgery was scheduled and pray that you are recovering restfully.  You were on my mind.

Terri:  So sorry to hear about the delay.  I would be so bummed.  Is there anyone you can bribe?!?

Karen:  Can you post your final paper so we can all read it?

Jean:  Please add me to the list ~ finally.  My exchange date is 12/4.  A year and month after my original dx.  What a year . . . .

Girls, just a bit of information.

I had this asked of my twice this week.

If you have a revision, anything that will open your old scars... do not worry.

You PS "should" cut that first , or in my case, that second scar out.. and create a new smooth one.

You should not have the same scar. ....Make sure you ask this of your Plastic...

Mine said that if he left the old scars and just kept reopening them.. they get scar tissue and mucho other issues.

I just wanted you all to know this. I told my PS to make my scar straighter this time...lol... he said.." your scar is straight".. I said.. well... there is always room for improvement...:)

    anyway... FYI for you!

That's great info Laura - good to know. I know that I'm hoping he can fix my right side near my underarm - that's where my scar kind of split and stretched open once I got going with my fills.

Colleen: I wish ! At this rate, after my argument with my PS's secretary this morning she may schedule me for April!...

Thanks all.  Laura, SO glad you're feeling better.  My PS felt my skin was good so far, but he had a patient, while I was there!,,,whose radiated skin opened a little and she got an infection that he had to go in and close..She finished radiation a month before me.  So as I said- so far so good.

I think the one whose schedule kept changing was Yvonne?  I'm not sure...

Terri:  Someone was looking out for you..That date was too soon after fills were over...I know it's hard to be set on a date and then have it changed, but I'm sure it will work out ofr the best...Hugs..
