OH. I just went back and read Laura"s April fools! F U N N Y !! Jeanie

Laura ... I can't believe you tricked us all! I even told my DH - remember that lady who lost her nipple and TE due to infection? Well now her other expander has leaked and totally drained .. we were both feeling just awful for you! And then to read that you pulled a fast one on everybody ... thanks for the laughs!
Great to hear that Elaine's surgery went well ... I just got home from my 3rd fill. I had 70 ccs put in today which puts me at a total of 450 and 440 in each ... she wants to get me up to 650 and then have the PS meet with me to get his opinion to see if we're done ... then I have to wait 8 weeks for the exchange. So I've got 4 more fills scheduled and the appt with the PS is on May 4. So maybe I'm looking at a July 4 exchange? Yee haw! Well, I'm sure he won't do surgery on the holiday, but early July sounds great to me!!!
Hope everyone continues to heal from these seratomas, exchanges, and other problems..... wow! This is such a busy thread - it's the one I'm sure to check every day! sue0 -
Yeah Jeanie
Laura pulled an April Fools joke on us about one of her expanders deflating... She had us thinking she was on her way to the OR.......we are not talking to her.....LOL

I know you all have probably answered this question a dozen times.....but does the too tight iron bra feeling go away after the exchange? I am due for exchange April 14th and just can't wait for this feeling to be gone, I hope!
It gets worse as the day goes on and by bedtime, it just feels like I forgot to take this thing off!!
Have been able to sleep on my side for about a week now....so that has been a huge relief!
Thanks ladies.
Linda

Hi Linda, I am 2 months post exchange and I am just now not feeling that tight iron bra feeling. I can actually say my implants are comfortable, soft and I can lift, pull and even do push ups with out that digging in feeling. It is different for everyone, some ladies have instant relief, but, I took awhile. I am just now able to roll over at night without sitting up to readjust my foobs!! I have been driving my DH crazy, between the night sweats and the foobs, there is alot of action in my bed, and it isn't with my DH {, heheh LOL} Happy to hear your exchange is just around the corner! Join us at the Exchange city thread! Best of Luck, Gentle Hugs, Jeanie

Hi all: Tracey, sending up prayers for your friend tonight..
Lorraine, welcome home! Hope you got some answers that you needed.
Everyone with complications, trouble healing. etc...I can offer some good news I hope. My mtxmy developed huge blisters (eggplant purple) on the previously rads skin over the expander. Burst open like potholes. What a mess! My PS was able to patch me with skin from my C section and now, you can barely see it. It all healed up just fine, expander stayed in, all was AOK...so that was the "worst case" scenario, and it all worked out OK>
On the lighter side: I just got my new rose colored fipples, as the others were too light. I had jokingly suggested in an e mail that they offer glow in the dark ones, camo ones, holiday ones....well I just got my fipples, and they gave me a gift! They sent GLOW IN THE DARK SPARKLY ONES. Not joking!!!! My hubby and I had a huge laugh. Oh, can't wait to try these on.
Love and healing thoughts to all with troubles.
xoxo

Hi Linda with the tight bra:
I am now 6 months out, and it's fine. Since I had a lat flap, I need to keep the muscle stretched or else it will spasm out again, but a few good stretches and it's fine.

Thanks Annie and Jeans. As you know we are hungry for any information and encouragement! I appreciate your input.

Nana7 Linda - I had the tight bra feeling on just one side for a long time after my exchange (about 5 mos). I'm now convinced it was partly because I continued to favor that side because it was uncomfortable to pull or push with that arm. Only partly, though. I've also been massaging that side and that helps too. I still feel that tightness sometimes, but not often. That was my cancer side, and my BS took the tissue all the way down to the skin (I had less than 1mm clear margin that side), and he thinks that's part of it too. The right side has been really, really good ever since the exchange. Right side was prophy.
Annie, boy did that place have you pegged when they sent you the sparkly glow in the dark nipple! I can't think of anyone (except Laura maybe!LOL) who'd get more of a kick out of that than you!!

It's nice to hear that it is normal to feel some tightness after the exchange. I am 6 weeks out and I feel like I have a bra on. Not bad...I am just aware of a little tightness.
I love the sparkly fipples! Just image what Laura could have done with the glow in the dark ones if she had had them on April 1st!!!
Tracey...prayers for your friend

Oh Sandy, of course!! Hmm, maybe you should have dropped a hint like that when you went toy shopping to see what they might have given you as a gift! Good luck with your adventure camp! And I was congratulating myself for running after work today - ha! Oh here you go -- I'll race you next Thursday to see who can get back here to post first after surgery.LOL0

I don't find out til the afternoon before what time I have to be there. They call you between 3-5 pm to tell you the time. I hate that -- never know whether I'll have to arrange to have the kids taken to school or what.

Annie and Cathie,
Thanks to you and everyone who is praying for my friend. We went today for her biopsy and the radiologist dr said that she is very concerned because its a solid mass about 2.7cm and the one node stands out. She got good samples from both the auxillry node and the mass itself. She also said the rate at which it appeared has her concerned because she just had a mammogram a few months ago. So she should know something by Tuesday and I will let you all know. Thanks for your prayers, it REALLY does work. She is a very good friend I have known her for over 20 years and she NEVER missed one chemo with me the whole way through. So please send up prayers.
My boobs look pretty darn good if I do say so myself. Tonight at the support group meeting the ladies said they were beautiful. I think they look nice. I will post em on the pic forum soon. Now I am moving on to research nipples. I want a skin graft and my PS only does tattooing so I will have to search for another PS soon. I am weaning myself off the pain pills and I have actually been pretty comfortable.
Good luck to all the surgery ladies coming up. Soft boobs are the best!!

No, it was Annie who got the fancy fipples! Where did you get them Annie?
Tracey - I just cannot fathom what must be going through your friend's mind right now....I feel for her...having to go through a weekend and knowing she will have a hard time thinking about little else than what this might mean. I certainly will pray for her...

Linda1 ( hehe)
Did you decide on a surgery date?

Nana 7 - my exchange was 3-3-09 - iron bra and rib pain were gone when I woke up after surgery so I hope and pray you will experience the same. I can't say I have made friends with my implants yet, but they are so much easier to wear than the TEs! Good luck . . . April 14th will be here soon.
Annie - my husband wants to go to our rustic cabin in the mountains this weekend--no electricity--so I sure could use a set of glow in the dark fipples! I might need to improvise with some glow in the dark tape and use a flashlight to activate! Fun, fun!
Rockwell Girl - so scary to read about your daughter. Hopefully this was a once in a lifetime incident. Have fun on your adventure and good luck with your fibble surgery. We nippleless women are hoping to benefit from all your research and experience
Bukki, Tracey's friend, Bonnie, and all others facing challenges - you are in my prayers right now. To all the grandmothers and grandmothers in waiting... enjoy! I have six grandchildren, ages 1, 2, 3, 5, 5, and 10 and enjoy them so very much!
I am scheduled to begin PT again tomorrow because of continued shoulder and arm pain, particularly at night. Has anyone else experienced this type of pain following bilateral mastectomy?
Thanks, ladies for your continued support! Sharon

Sandy.. I hope you have a great time this weekend.. you never stop amazing me!

Tracey - I'm adding my prayers to all the others here and my heart is hurting for you. In some ways it is harder to watch someone go through this than it is to have it yourself. I sure found that with my mom. I'm glad that you're feeling well enough to give up the pain meds!
Elaine - SOOOOO glad that you are home and doing okay. I love the syringe bouquet! Wonderful to have some nurses with a great sense of humor...makes the whole thing seem more palatable.
Playmysti and Bkokie - Okay girls, you're up! Go get 'er done! Seriously...thinking of you and praying for you two.
Laura - not feeling the love hey?? It sounds like more than one of us told the "poor Laura" story yesterday!!! I shared it with the girls at work..."you wouldn't believe all this poor girl has gone through and always so cheery and fun". Today they asked how you were doing and I said "Laura who?" LOL

You Ladies with your BIG HUGE caring hearts never stop amazing me!!! Thank you soooooooo much for all the well wishes and prayers for my friend Naomi. She is holding up pretty good. But I remember the knot that stayed in my stomach the days leading up to the results. I told her that no matter what happens she is gonna be just fine. She asked me to thank all of you for your concern and kindness.
Kathie, I PM'd you but I never got a reply. Im am wondering if you got it. I sent it last week. If you didnt get it no worries. Cant wait to send you a pic of the new girls!!
Laura, what do you have like 6 or 7 more rads to go!! WOW easy peasy!!!!! Im soooooooooooooooooooooooo PROUD of you. I think you ROCK!!!
I am LOVIN the new boobs more each day. Soft and compliant!! LOL
Well thats it for me for the night my sisters..until tomorrow, luv ya ladies!!!

Elaine--congrats on your exchange and having everything look good.
About the surgical bras--I thought mine was very tight at the band--they gave me my usual 36 and I asked for a 38, which helped. The band sits right along the incision on my lift side, which didn't make sense to me--my reg. bras worked better for me, so I got clearance from my PS to wear whatever I wanted after about 2 weeks. All the PS's are so different with our treatment, aren't they?

Yvonne, LOVE the "Laura WHO?" question!! Too funny!!!
Tracey, I'm praying that Naomi handles the waiting ok without too much stress. This is just the worst time.
Suzie, my PS specifically didn't want me to wear a surgical bra -- he said they're "one size fits all" and he wanted me to wear a bra that really fit. You are so right that they're all different! You'd think there would be more of a standard MO!
Gotta take my son to school -- be back later today!

Tracey~ I hope your friends biopsy comes back b-9.
Okay I know that you had a ton of pain before your exchange has it gotten any better ?? I have had nothing but pain with my softballs (I mean TE) and I am looking forward to my exchange and I still have 2 months and 3 more Chemo. treatments to go. I am hoping that this relieves some of my pain.
