Hi sweetie pies, glad to see everyone is here and kicking cancer a*** as usual...that's my girls!!!
Tracey, you sound great! I too, did not know you were a "sweet petite" along with me and Laura....with the big ole ta tas too!! I am also a D. (and a Big C) but I hope to take my old saggy girl to meet my PS and have him take her down to size and get her a prophy when I am allowed to do more surgery. I'm banned for six months now. The old bod has to heal. I think us petite gals are like Jack Russell terriers...little, but mighty.
Laura, do I hear the sound of 75% done???????????? YAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! GO LAURA!!!! I see the light at the end of the tunnel for you!!!!
Oh, for everyone wondering about feeling coming back....I had lat flap and no feeling. My back was numb also. Well, along about 1 year later, I have my entire side back, more of my chest and can only not feel the very tip of my foob. I had a numb back, and just the other night, 1 1/2 years post mtxmy, my husband was rubbing my back and I said "hey! OMG< I feel that!!" I had not noticed it, it had come back so slowly. But it did.
Also: spasms: Get a good referral by your bs or PS to a physical therapist that works with bc patients and get some good stretches and work them religiously. It's really important to keep those muscles stretched out or they get like tight rubber bands. It will help, it really does. Also, try a small dose of a mild muscle relaxant, your GP can advise you if you talk to them about the spasms.
Good luck all, and love you all! I am still "restricted" but I broke out and went to see my kid in PA yesterday. I even drove for an hour!!! Then my hubby wrestled the wheel out of my hands by tempting me with a peppermint patty and I gave it back, but ohhhhhhhhhhh it felt sooo good to get the heck off the couch and out of the house!!!! To say nothing of seeing my darling daughter!!
2 more weeks of enforced quietude....................................

Support Bras:
Warner makes an entire line of wire free bras. I was hesitant to spend a lot on a bra till I firgure out what size fits best and is most comfortable during the day, and until all the side swelling goes down. The hooks are all placed so they don't rub andd they have no tags inside them.
I found them on line and then located Kohls as a retailer, I was very surprised at the variety, and to find that i could buy a warners version of ths same $70 bra I had been buying at victoria secret, without a wire and no tags for under $30. The had everything from sports bras, lightly lined, unlined, padded, low cut back close and front close. The had sizes A through DD, they may have other sizes online. I thought it was a great short term option, till everything settles into place, and they were much more comfy than anything else I tried.

Annie - I am so psyched that you are back up and at it! You are one tough lady. And yes, great things come in petite packages - I am 5' 2 3/4" - note the 3/4" inches, it is important at my size!
Laura - Way to go. You are nearing the ends of your rads! And you seem to have some of yourself back (referring to April 1 post )
Sandy - You really know how to live your life! I think there are a few of us that live through your adventures! Keep on trucking lady!
Bigapple - Everyone keeps posting about bras at Kohls. I am definitely going to have to check them out post exchange.
Nips and Exchanges this week - My love to you all. Take care, rest easy and look beautiful!
This site is a godsend!

Laura, Annie, Jean, Tracey--I'm also a sweet petite! I'm just 5'2", so I'll join the club! What should we call ourselves? The sweet petites? The mighty mites?

The Ta Ta Tiny's0

Hey, Laura, mine aren't tiny! I am tiny, but my reconstructed girl is bodacious, and her sister will soon be "supersized" to match her!0

In 1987 and 1988 I lost my two sisters to breast cancer despite chemo, surgeries, and stem cell transplant. My only living sisters is seen at M.D. Anderson, on Tomoxifen but ruling out ovarian/utrine cancer. All mammograms, needle biopsies, blood test negative. cancer is on my father's side-although he has none- we lost my grandmother to breast ca (had it twice), my paternal aunt had pre-ca and had mastectomy 25 yrs ago, paternal cousin (dtr. of aunt) also, pat grandfather died of skin ca at young age, my 2 pat. uncles died of brain tumor (age 30yrs) and liver ca (age 40yrs). I have been seen by hematologist/oncologist for 10 yrs. who took care of my sister and since advocated mastectomy for myself and my other living sister. I had total hysterectomy last April due to severe Anemia and now will see oncologist f/u for Tomox. I have three sons and I want to know I did everything possible to be here, see them graduate, etc. My oldest sisters dtrs. have become 'my girls'- thought they are 27 and 28. They were 100% behind me and I knew they feared the loss of another "mother". God Bless all!! Connie

My exchange was last Thurs and I think my drains are coming out tomorrow. I am so excited to get those out!! I already feel so much better with the expanders out! My foobs aren't as big as I was hoping for but who cares! They look pretty natural all ready. I had the 410 gummy bear implants. I am a little sore but other than that doing well. I have had some leakage around the drains but I think I have it under control. I think I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. I even have a little bit of hair. Ha!

CristlC .... CONGRATS!
What size were your expanders?..
0 -
my expanders were filled to 610.......... I dont know how big these implants are. I will ask tomorrow at my appt. They seems a bit small but then again the expanders were toooo big. he said I have a large chest area so in order to fill it and make it look natural this was the best size. They do look very natual on the top slope and on the side. He said if he had put larger then it would have looked too big. Who knows. Right now I am just happy it is done. I guess I will reserve judgement for a while.....????? I told him plenty of times I didn't want to look like I had a "boob job" or pamela anderson!

Hey Ladies,
Many of you have been praying for my friend Naomi. Well she got her biopsy report back today. Its positive for invasive breast cancer w/1 node involved. She was in ok spirits just trying to be strong for her 15 year old daughter. Now she will begin the ambush of Dr's apts. It is really strange but she had her mammogram last Wed, the same EXACT date as my mammogram last year and her biopsy the same date as mine. Except I was dx 4/4 of 08 and she was dx 4/7 of 09 She never missed 1 of my chemo sessions. Now I will be there for her. She has to wait on the estrogen receptor pathology, but so far they know she is most likely stage 2. This whole thing just blows my mind! Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks soooooooo MUCH for your caring spirits, you ladies are awesome.
BTW Laura I LOVE the Ta Ta Tiny's...waaaaaaaayyy cool!!

Connie - Your family has been through enough. You will be there for your sons and your nieces! Hugs!
Christi - Yahoo for getting those darn drains out! I haven't even gotten mine in and I want them out already! And I agree, soft is great, regardless if they are not quite what you had hoped!
Tracey - I am so very sorry about your friend Naomi's news. But at least now she can move on and get her treatment. I think the unknown is the worst!
"TaTaTinys w/ the big foobs"?? Or at least some of you fit the bill!
Take care ladies! - Jean

LASTLY... I hope the exchanges today went 100% great !!! Please post when you can!

Hello ladies!
I have been a busy, busy girl these last few days and have only had a chance to read and lurk! Between changing dressings for my dh and myself I think I'll change my career and go into nursing!! I'll get some one-on-one time with you Katie and I should be good to go! LOL Seriously though - dh is doing great and I don't think he minds not washing dishes. I'm getting kind of tired of washing his right armpit but hey - what the heck is a good wife for anyway????
I got some good news from my cousin last night - she was told she has fibrocystic breast disease (which I know nothing about) but she was overjoyed that it wasn't bc! I told her I had asked you all to pray for her and she was sooooo touched by that and greatful for answered prayers. Thanks so much to all who offered support and prayers for her.
My hurts heart for Naomi and also for you Tracey. Tell Naomi that when she is ready for us that we are all ready for her!! This is an awesome place to get you through the crappy times and I'm sure she would benefit from all the advice and expertise that people so freely give. As much as there isn't anything good about bc, she is very lucky to have a friend like you to draw support from now. You will be a wonderful support for her!
Laura - Only a few more rads - you can see some light at the end of the tunnel!!!!!!! YAHOOOOOOO!!! I am so glad for you!! You might have to get up on a step stool to see the light though!!! LOL You Tiny Ta Ta!!!! This is one sisterhood I'll have to pass on as I'm 5'8". Any other non-vertically challenged sisters out there? Feel free to sign up for the Towering Ta Ta Sisterhood (though we still want to play with the teeny girls, don't we??)
CristlC - celebrating the drain removal with a happy dance for you!!! What a relief!!! I'm with you Jean - DON"T WANT THEM.....NO NO NO!

I guess I'm a Towering Ta Ta sister also..........5'8" here.....Tracey tell Naomi we are here for her....as others have said.......she is very lucky to have a friend like you.
Laura........almost done.....way to go!
ChistlC.....so happy to hear no more drains......I hope you will become comfortable with your new girls
Sandy.......looks like an awesome weekend!
To everyone else.........continued healing and good thoughts for you all......good luck to all those with upcoming procedures.....
As for me........still draining seroma.......but fingers crossed....no redness or fever....... feeling like there is no progress......so for now I am still a lady in waiting........I want some soft boobies......hopefully one day!
Cheers and hugs

Laura......don't worry I am good and mad.......but that doesn't seem to help either.........I don't get it Yvonne......what the heck is up with us?
0 -
Well, Laura DID say "Ta Ta Tiny's" not "Tiny Ta Tas"!LOL Jax, I'm closer to you -- about 5'7" -- so I'll get into the "tower" group. Relative to all those "petite" sisters, anyway! (One thing I have NEVER been is petite!!)
Yvonne, that's great news about your cousin!! Just tell her to keep a good, close eye on things -- when your breasts are fibrocystic it's much harder for a radiologist to see any cancer on a mammogram because the tissue is so dense. My mom (86 years old) has fibrocystic breasts and is constantly called back for second and even third mammograms.
Cristl, so did your drains come out today??? Hoping they did!!
Connie, I can totally see why you went with prophy bmx. That's so great that you've been there for your nieces. It sounds like they were very young when they lost their moms. Good for you for making a tough decision!!
Tracey - more hugs to Naomi -- I wrote a longer message on the October thread.
I went for my pre-op with my PS today for my fipple surgery, and now I'm getting excited!! I told him I did NOT want much projection but he wouldn't commit to how much they'll shrink. The good news is no overnight stay and no drains!! And I get a tummy tuck to boot (because of my skin grafts), but it sounds like that's going to be the painful part. He said he has to close the tummy incision in three layers, so two layers of internal stitches. The grafts are coming from really low on my abdomen, and he started talking about how if I'm going to shave, I should do it on the morning of my surgery and not the night before because there would be a greater risk of infection if I do it the night before. I asked him why I would want to shave, and he said that he uses the same steristrips to close the tummy incision as I've had both times on my foobs, and, well, if I don't shave, and then have steristrips to peel off ... you get the idea!! Ouch!! So I'm going to be breaking out a brand new, sharp razor on Thursday morning! The funniest thing was that he had an intern in with him today, and this poor young guy just stood there turning pink throughout the conversation.
Marilyn --- are you getting excited for Monday???
