I was just looking on the mentor site and it appeared that the gummy bears have been approved in the US.  Is it true and can someone tell me the pros and cons of them ??

    Thanks:)

I have the 410 implants, they are still in FDA study and some doctors are still accepting patients. Mine went in 3/9/09 in a single stage bmx and reconstruction.

They look good, they are quite firm, I'm not sure how much softer they will get as my chest wall relaxes.

Because they can't actually rupture, they are considered safer and don't require the MRI(s) that are recommended for the regular gel implants.

Depending on how much more comfortable I get with the firmness, I may switch them out for regular gels in the fall.

I just checked my measurements today at the hospital Sandy.. I am 30 around.

Why again does this matter? I checked the Mentor and Allergen sight and did not see where our measurements determine our width of the implants...

Jax, this is unbelieveable, so sorry for the trouble, I hope that the PS can get you put back together again and that the sutures will hold. Take care.  Jan

Brief update for me - I had my last fill today - yeah!!  I'm at 650 ccs now and met with the PS so he could see the results and talk about next steps.  My exchange surgery is scheduled for July 14 - he's ordering Allergan 550, 600 and 650 HP Style 20 implants and will figure out which ones work the best.  He says he always uses high profile for reconstruction patients.  I copied the measurements of each implant from the order form but now I need to measure my chest... .then I'm hoping  one of the experts here can give their opinion as to whether we're in teh right ball park for me or not .... I'm 5'10", 160 lbs, and used to be a D cup before my double masc.   I feel like Dolly Parton now ... I am huge with these TEs.  Can't wait for July!!!  sue

Jax you are such a trooper. Hope your healing has now begun!  What a fantastic outlook you have!!

I got my exchange date when I saw my PS.  August 24 is the first opening they have.  Hard to believe how indemand a PS is here.  I'm filled to 450 but he said I could go a little larger so I'm getting two more 50cc fills.  He's ordering Allergan 550, 600 and 650 HP Style 20s just like  suegmomof3 is getting.  I have Mentor 6200 450cc mid profile TEs.  I'm 5'1'' and quite the pear shape...  My chest measurement is 30". I was an A before and am hoping to help balance out the hips with the new tatas.  Any opinions on what my potential cup size will be are really appreciated.  Thanks!!!  Traci

Sue:  Can you obtain the specifications on your expanders?  Mentor or Allergan, style number and # of cc's [might not actually be a 650 cc expander. ]  Also, what is your ribcage measurement?  If you want to remain a "D" cup, the 550's and the 600's might not be big enough.  But get the expander details and one of us can help you.

Elaine:  I tell you, it just nearly breaks my heart to hear about all of you girls having so many complications with expanders and implants.  I pray this resolves soon for you and that your implant can be retained.  I am so sorry you are going through this trial!!!

hi gals I just signed in for the 1st time in several days

I haven't had time to read all but just wanted to say hi

Laura I did read your question from an hour ago

1 inch won't make a lot of difference

but in a gal that has a 30' rib cage and a gal that has a 36' rib cage they would need different width of implants

tomorrow night my hubby will be gone golfing and I will try and get on line once

Whippetmom:  My rib cage measures 35 1/2 " if I pull the tape tight ... 36" if I don't pull tight.  My TEs are 550s which means they've overexpanded them by 100.  The measurements that I took off the order form are as follows:

    CCs  Diameter    Width
    550      13.5         5.6
    600      13.8         5.7
    650      14.2         5.9

I really appreciate your expert opinion!  :)   sue

Hi all, I don't have a surgery date yet for my exchange, but I'll let you know when I know.  Reading your experiences has helped me a lot.

Jax and Elaine, my prayers are with you in fast healing!

Deborah, I measured myself at 31 around ribs.  I'm 5'2", 120 lbs.  I don't know what size my TEs are, but the PS mentioned using 550 cohesives at exchange.  He said we would talk about profiles, etc. later.  I am at 600cc now, and can't go any bigger, as my skin is too tight.

    Thanks, Deen

Sue:  I need to look up your expander specifications.  You have a 550 cc expander, but is it Mentor or Allergan and what is the style number?  We need the dimensions of the expander - your current width, height and projection of your expanders - to determine the appropriate implant size.  For instance, my expanders were:  Allergan 133 MX 400's.  You should either have a card with this number or the nurse can get this information from your chart.  But off the cuff, I will tell you and I know Sandy will agree - those 550's are going to be too small.  I think that the 650's would be the right size - perhaps even 700's.   Also, are you hoping to go smaller or do you want to remain a "D" cup?

Deen:  550 cohesives - meaning Allergan 410's?  Confirm this with him.  In any event, 550's would be a very good size for your ribcage, height and weight.  Just emphasize to your PS that you want him to use the fuller height 410's - to keep the width at a modest number.  You probably do not want an implant wider than 13.0 - 13.5 cm.  The greater the projection, the narrower the base width of the implant.

Just had LAST fill today!!!!!  I have already made appt. for my exchange which will be Aug. 26th.  I would appreciate if I could be added to the board as well.

I am still after all this time confused on cc's and cup size?  I do want to be a full Dcup, but that seems different to everyone I talk to.  I have expressed my thoughts with my PS so I am putting it in his hands to give me the best look for me.  I am just looking forward to getting these frying pans out and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Back from my PS appt. and I am getting 600cc mentor's :)  I am happy with how the discussion went.  I will not be getting nipples at the time of the surgery I will be getting them at an in office appt. afterwards.  She offered to deport me but since I have to get herceptin until February I turned her down.  I figured I would ride my year out with my beloved port.

I will also have a little pocket revision on my right side to make it more like my left side.

Well I am home.......didn't make it home in time to see the kids before bed......but got some big.....yet gentle hugs this morning......so I've got a new expander......and a drain........she only put in 120cc's so as not to stress the skin......so that feels like a big step backwards......but I am home.........so this is good news..........thank you all for your well wishes.......they say 3'rd time's a charm......so I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is the case........I will no longer be having my exchange on May 19th.........but PS.....believes I will be fully expanded before my birthday in July.......I hope this is true......I really want to put this part behind me.........and I worry for summer clothes.......going to have to get very creative......especially until this drain comes out.

    Cheers and Hugs to all!

I know I'm a little late with some of this wishes but good luck to Karen, Destinysmom  Linda, Mela4409,skipprcis.  I'll be rooting for you and hoping all goes well!

Tablover - I haven't had a lot of discussion with my PS about what kind of implant to get other than it NEEDS to match the remaining breast.  I do think that my torso is kind of short for my height (I measured from my belly button to below my natural breast and it is just over 6 inches and my total measurement from belly button to shoulder is 18 inches). So I do think that I naturally "hang low" even before they aged and sagged!  I do have a real shelf going on now with my TE and I told him I really don't like the look of it and want that gone when I get the implant.  I have been a little nervous about suggesting what kind of implant I want because when I've asked him about it before he said he'll use what matches the best with my natural breast.  Thanks for your input because I'll mention the shelf thing again just to make sure that he is aware of my concern.

((((((((((((((((((((((Elaine))))))))))))))))))))) you poor, poor girl!  Sending healing vibes your way.  I can understand what you're going through and it is so exasperating when your PS is so nonchalant about it.  Take care of that poor foob!

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((Jax))))))))))))))))))))))))Oh my goodness...does it ever end????? Hang in there Jax!  You truly are a good attitude poster child...How the heck do you do it! This has got to be the last time that you need to do this...GRRRRRR Happy healing to you!

Jean - so glad that you are so happy with your new girls...it is a real bonus that your DH likes them too!  It is really encouraging to read a bit of good and happy news...little bit of light at the end of the tunnel - Keep shining bright for us girlfriend!!

Congrats on getting  exchange dates Sue and Believe 1!!

I am trying to catch up on the past posts as I have been suffering with an attack of diverticultitis and have been away from my computer for a couple of days.  I have to do more reading on this condition and see what the heck I can do to avoid this happening again.  I think I am a pretty healthy eater and it is making me kind of angry...need to check it out and find out what I'm doing/eating wrong!  Of to surf the web....

    Take care everyone!

Jax, sorry for the step back, but glad to hear the expander is back in and you're not in a VAC waiting to heal and then starting all over.  You've been awfully patient and brave through all of this.  Cyber hugs to you.

hi ladies just hopped on and only read a couple post

Sue I agree with Deb you'll want to go with 650-800

It will be curious to see how wide your expanders are and if you like that width on you

With your rib cage being about 36 inches I would think you'd want your implant width close to 15cm (this is just a wild guess, I wonder what width some of the other gals got that had a 36 inch rib cage)
