A woman once told me that she did not feel the need to reach out to those around her because she prayed every day. Surely, this was enough. But a prayer is about our relationship to God; a blessing is about our relationship to the spark of God in one another. God may not need our attention as badly as the person next to us on the bus or behind us in line in the supermarket. Everyone in the world matters, and so do their blessings. When we bless others, we offer them refuge from an indifferent world.     -Rachel Naomi Remen

Carole, good news on Dh. Hopefully, the small gains made now will turn into nicer and more productive and free you up more and more. Wonderful when something can start to go positive. Also, makes the thought of having to do more later much easier to confront.

Betrayal, sounds like things are coming together fairly well this go around with less overall hassle for the most part. Hopefully it won't be much longer and you'll be back to having a home w/o items pulled into room where they don't belong. Also, improvements made to other things. Like the Gazebo roof. Sort of nice to have the old familiar become the new.

It rained last night and I think we have added a bit of light showers to it this morning. A bit of a surprise but we were getting dusty and the guys were hoping to get the mowers out to mulch leaves which was really going to spread the dirt/dust around quite well. I was waiting to wash my car, and guess it will be a few more days now.

I hope you all have a really good day.

DH had an appointment with our dermatologist today. He was concerned about a growth on his surgery leg a few inches from the incision. We both can usually recognize skin cancers since we've had quite a few. Sure enough, the growth was suspect and was removed. Getting in and out of my Prius wasn't easy for dh but he managed. I stopped at a Subway on the way home and got lunch.

I'm behind on cleaning the kitchen and tidying up the bedroom but there's plenty of time.

Jackie, we could use some of your rain. It's very dry here.

Had an appointment with Ortho today for knee injection and mentioned to PA that I was to see the hand physician in December to get my thumb looked at for possible injection. He looked at it and said he might be able to help me. He was able to order a hand x-ray and get me in to see the hand surgeon today. It's my right thumb and being right handed it gets used/abused a lot. Well, x-ray showed severe arthritis with no remaining joint space in distal tip so no injection because no space to inject in. Choices for future are using Voltaren, warm soaks and Tylenol Arthritis or fusion. Fusion is of last resort because I had him demo position thumb would be in and it would require over 2-3 months for healing which means immobilizing it for that time. So conservative treatment for now. It is really painful and holding a pen or even a fork and knife is difficult. I need a skeletal transplant! He ordered EMG to see if my carpal tunnel repair on this hand is failing. All those years of nursing have taken a toll on my hands, back, knees and feet.

Had some errands to run so went to CVS and then Michael's for some frames for water lily prints I bought at Giverny and the Orangerie.

Carole, glad DH was able to get suspicious growth removed from his leg. I cannot imagine getting into a Prius after knee replacement and I am short.

Illinoislady, how is Lil' Red doing? How are you feeling today?

DB finished the gazebo and made a new cupola for it because the other one was totally rotted. He put a green aluminum roof on it and it looks so festive. I love the look of new cedar shakes but I like the patina they get as they age.

Looks like I will need to add a second coat to the baseboard and paint some trim around the laundry room door because the painters tape did some damage. I don't mind this type of painting because I don't have to do much bending nor do I need to use a ladder. I can use the step stool to reach the higher parts of the door trim.

It is so sunny today that I had to draw the drape so I could sit in the eat-in area to use my laptop. It is now 75 degrees and so pleasant. I was happy to run errands and be outside.

Wedding gift for my niece arrived today and now I have to wrap it. I hope DB returns before the wedding so I can send it to her parent's house. I do not want to cart this to the wedding venue. It is about 29 lb.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Our rain is done here, but some dampness remains. Likely won't last all that long. Glad to hear that the 'bump' on Dh's leg was removed Carole. Always wise to keep a check on things like that.

Hmm, getting in and out of cars is a discussion I just had with Joe from Chevrolet in Salem who was trying to drum up some business — you know the song and dance of people are looking for cars like yours. Even though mine is old and has 160,000 miles on it. Well, I have an SUV because I can easily get in and out. I so wanted a sedan when I got my Equinox but my flexibility has been on the wane for some time. This mainly due to my stroke several yrs. ago leaving my left side weak. I do quite well as long as certain conditions are in play — like being able to 'slide' into a car instead of actually sitting down inside the car as I enter it.

Needless to say — I'm not going to grace anyone else with the car I love. When the wheels fall off then I will go get something else.

Betrayal, how great to get info on your thumb and issues there while taking care of your knee. What a neat thing to have something fall into our laps so to speak — a little bonus as it were. If I remember my friend Jo had the thumb repair, and it did take a long time. She seems happy now, but then as you say there is a time lag to consider because your life is fairly varied and Jo is able to have and does, lots of help to pick up the slack.

Hopefully you can keep going w/o huge distress.

Ah, Lil' Red. He is being his cute heart self. A little ball of energy. We have to think now (he's about 6 months) of getting neutered. My daughter (a groomer for many years) says he is a very smart little dog and will respond well to training and is giving us tips for how best to deal with those un-acceptable things that we hope will change in a short while. He is a super howler/whiner when Dh leaves to go somewhere. Something to work on there for sure.

I am doing okay. It's been a real tedious way to go. I'm not totally there, but I can finally feel progress though I'm still sort of congested and still a cough now and then. Still some fatigue, but it is long covid so I keep that in mind.

The sun is out even though only 51. It has been warming well enough (if not gray and raining) so I don't expect it to be bad today.

Sure glad that the 5th. will be here soon. Tired of the tv and this time of yr. and all the negativism connected. Will be good to have it over if a bit scary.

I hope you all have a wonderful day and great start to your week-end.

My Prius isn't the smallest model. The alternative transportation was his new Ford 150 Pickup. It's funny to me that dh prefers to drive my car if I don't need to go somewhere. He says the parking is so much easier with the car. Parking lots seem designed for pigmy cars. Plus the gas mileage is great. I love my car and miss it during the summer when we're in MN and his truck is our only vehicle.

DH is doing better every day. The therapist is here now. The surgeon's office finally got back to us regarding the skin wounds he suffered during surgery, probably from the removal of tape. I sent them photos. Today we're going to a wound care clinic. We will definitely be sounding alarms when he goes to his next knee replacement surgery.

Jackie, I hope you are feeling good today.

Carole - the only tape I can use w/o damaging my skin is 1) Medipore soft cloth tape by 3M, or 2) Hypafix - soft, non-woven with non-irritating adhesive. My oncologist recommended and both work. Hospitals usually have one of the other, but you have to ask. Still, I always carry some with me even when I'm only going to the dermatologist - just in case.

Why do we protect children from life?  It's no wonder that we become afraid to live. We're not told what life really is. We're not told that life is joy and wonder and magic and even rapture, if you can get involved enough.  We're not told that life is also pain, misery, despair, unhappiness, and tears.  I don't know about you, but I don't want to miss any of it.  I want to embrace life, and I want to find out what it's all about. I wouldn't want to go through life without knowing what it is to cry.

Slept poorly after the knee injection with both knees uncomfortable and my right thumb painful. So I took yesterday off from household chores and spent it doing some genealogy research. I had written a paternal family history which had many gaps that needed to be filled. So 12 years later and with an Ancestry membership I am attempting to fill in some of the gaps. I need to dig out my files because I know I have the details of what my pgm wore on her wedding day. I try to make them as personal as possible instead of just dry facts like census information, etc. I even have documentation from Ireland for my pggm thanks to a record she obtained from the church that was given to me by my uncle. I visited the church on one of our trips and the pastor was kind enough to let me look through the church records that existed from a time when Catholics were forbidden to practice so these were actually "bush" records but meticulous anyhow. My pgf lived in Philadelphia so this made doing some of the research easier as well. I have my ggf's wedding band and my gm's engagement ring.

The maternal family history was in some respects easier to document but even there I was only able to get back as far as mggp. I jokingly say I am descended from talkers and not writers. While we were on vacation one of our cab drivers in London was an American Civil War buff. When I disclosed that my mggf had served in the Union Army, he was so excited. He asked me what I knew about him and asked if he could actually know his name. He wanted to be able to track someone who actually served so I provided him with my ggf's name. I did not give him my contact info but with my luck he'll uncover some tidbit of info I'd love to have.

It was supposed to rain yesterday but as luck would have it we got the gray skies early but no rain. If there was a sprinkle it wasn't near here. Today is sunny and only in the 50's so far.

The wedding present I ordered for my niece arrived and it was the wrong color which I missed when checking out. The screen kept defaulting but I thought I had clicked on the right color when I placed the order. It was ordered from Costco so I called and was able to return it for a refund and then reordered the correct color which arrived on Halloween. I was notified I received my refund for the first one. Now I have to wrap it and hope DB will return so I can send it with him to her parents home. They live in the same town so it beats having to haul it to the wedding venue.

Slept better last night so now I need to tackle some chores including brushing Misty who is dogging me. Hope everyone has a great day.

Betrayal - don't know how you stand all the home repairs. Our life was only disrupted for weeks, not months, and we were stressed.

Yes, everyone, we like the new color and the new living chairs and couches. Painters did a great job and we were out off the house one day less than expected. Next on the list are rugs for bedrooms and den but that probably will wait until the new year when my stock broker assures me markets will go up again regardless of who wins. We still have 20 year old kitchen and laundry appliances so that is undoubtedly around the corner too. I don't think I've lived in a house this old since I was 10!

We're off to a fundraiser for the food bank tonight and tomorrow a friend and I are going to an art festival in a nearby town. Have to be home for the football game though.

Lines are long here too but I haven't heard reports of on site harassment like there was in '20. We did have a democratic office bombed twice but they caught the guy. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Anyone heard from Sandy or Mary?

Have a good rest of your weekend.

    Today, I choose awareness.
I choose to be aware of the beauty of life and living.
I choose to be aware of the simple truths in life.
I choose to be aware of the simple pleasures in life.
    I choose awareness of joy.
    I choose awareness of peace.
    I choose awareness of love.
I choose to see, to feel, to know,
    the presence of divine energy
in myself and those around me.
Today, I choose to be aware and to embrace all
that is good, noble, and divine.
As my awareness of joy, peace, love, and goodness
grows in my consciousness, joy, peace, love,
and goodness become the reality in which I live.
For this I am so grateful!
    And So It Is!

Happy Sunday. Overcast and rain predicted. No leaf mulching today. It will be a lazy day around here I do think. Well, there is always plenty to do inside.

We are in a jam now. Lil' Red has finally figured out how to use the kitty door. Now we don't mind that he goes in the screen room, but from there he could escape outside so we are going to have to work on helping him not desire to use the door ——- right.

Reminded of the intruders who find their way into your house through the pet doors. At my friend Jo's other house (she is in a rental now) they had a pet door that operated by the little magnet collars their dogs wore. When the dogs stood in front of the door it would open for them to go out. So, no one else could intrude inside. Always thought it the neatest thing. Our door actually only leads out to our big screen room — so we would likely have a lot of warning in advance if something was really able to find it's way into the screen room before figuring out there was yet another door.

Taco, eventually, you will have an old house made new — down to the appliances. I've loved my new washer and dryer. Well, more to the point since mine were 17 yrs. old and never touched by a repairman, ever, I love the feeling of security of knowing what I have now does not have a highly questionable shelf life. Although for the most part the old Kenmore's did fine — there were noise's sometimes and once in a while the water in final rinse would not all drain out of the washer. To fix or not to fix and part of me so wanted the fix but the other part figured that money could go to something new that if I'm fortunate will last a decent time and the last idea won out.

Hope you all have a really nice day.

Taco, glad you like the paint color and furniture. A kitchen renovation will cause major upheaval. When we had our counters replaced, I had to remove all contents in the lower cabinets. What a pain. Then the installation had to be redone. Afterwards we loved/love the new countertops which are white and lightened up the kitchen.

Betrayal, at what point did you begin driving yourself after the knee surgery? DH is doing great, becoming more and more independent. Yesterday he walked to the end of our driveway, which is quite long, and back. And his balance is so good that he hardly needs the walker. My fetching is much less required.

We didn't set the clocks back last night. DH likes this time change because he prefers the light in the morning.

Next week is booked with appointments, mine and dh's. After his surgery I had to reschedule several appointments including a haircut appointment. I still have a little hair color left. I think I did mention that I stopped coloring my hair for the third time to see if I liked the natural look.

    Happy Sunday to all.

    I’m behind.
Betrayal, we’re heading to Vegas 11/6-11/13 for the Adele concert, side trip to the Grand Canyon, a hike or two and we’ll visit with a cousin. Florida is on the books to leave on the 17th or 18th. Nothing booked yet, partner will probably do it once we’re back from Vegas and have an exact date to hit the road.

Carole, good thing your dh had the growth removed; and great he is now able to walk the distance of your driveway.

Jackie, I’m glad you’re feeling ok. Long covid can take a toll, rest whenever you can. Lil Red is an escape artist! Good luck keeping him away from the cat door.

Minus two, you’re proactive to bring the tape with you. It is best knowing you’re covered to avoid paying for the wrong tape being used.

Petite, good to hear from you! Those mini bunts look good.

Taco, it’s great that you like the paint color and the new furniture. Has to feel like walking into a new house. I had my kitchen cabinets refaced 10 years ago - just as much clearing out of everything as if we replaced them. I did get rid of stuff - so many coffee mugs, glasses, and whatnot.

Thursday, Halloween morning - I was out for a walk with a gf at the park. Once home I started doing yard & garden work. It was in the mid 70’s and we broke the record with a high of 79. I was quite happy to get extra yard work in. Trick or treating - I think 20 kids. I kept the lights on until 9 thinking with good weather we could get some older kids, but nope.

Friday was another beautiful day in the 70’s. I was back out doing more yard work. It’s not that we’ve ignored yard work, but some things usually get left until we’re back home in May. I went to Lowe’s and bought 3 bags of mulch, lawn bags and some clear caulk. I had sat pulling dead stalks out of the hydrangeas on Thursday, so Friday I put down new mulch. I used a bucket to fill and then go scatter the mulch. I was pleased with myself. But then I needed the heating pad for my back and ice pack for my shoulder. Is this the hood deeds not going unpunished? HA!

Yesterday we went to a new car show. Partner won tickets and he totally enjoys checking out the new cars. There are a few still under $30k, a few hitting $40k. But what amazed me was $82k up to $114k. Some of these electric vehicles cost a fortune. Yes savings in gas but wee oh, I’d need to do the math… like how long do I have to live to see an advantage!

Before the car show I pulled more caulk from the bathroom sink and cleaned the Devil out of that space before recaulking I hope not to do it again for another 10 years.

I still have the heating pad for my back. Today I have to dye my roots. I’ve been ignoring them, you’ll think I’m nuts, it’s so that in Vegas I won’t have roots showing. Timing is everything!

I want to run to Aldi’s, possibly early vote - only if there is no line, and my grandniece has 2 soccer games (indoor) today. So busy after my roots are done!
PS - it’s 42 now with a high expected to hit 52. It’s at least a 20 degree difference from Thursday & Friday; and I hear my furnace running.

    Enjoy your day!

Not redoing the kitchen - just will need to replace appliances.

Fun day with my friend. I bought a new ring and we stopped for Starbucks on the way home.

Sporadic rain last night and this afternoon. Don't think it was measurable - just sprinkles.

I voted by mail about 2 weeks ago. We've had a good early voting system for years.

Taco, it's not like I have a choice when the house needs restoration. The start had to be postponed because we were walking out the door to catch our flight to Zurich when we found the puddles on wreath boxes in the garage. I did not want to burden my DD with decisions that involved the insurance company and as it was she had to contact the appliance repair service, a plumber and pick a restoration company which was easy because our insurance only has 2: the one we previously used which was a hell NO due to poor coordination of repairs and this one. This one was a winner. Like you, I would much rather just redecorate my house than do a restoration. Glad you are pleased with the new paint and new furniture. My kitchen was updated over 20 years ago and I still like the cherry cabinets which I have had refinished about 2 years ago. I would like to get someone to come in to polish the granite countertops and reseal them. They could use a touch-up.

cindyny, enjoy the Adele show. I would love to see her but am not willing to pay the premium for her show tickets. I love the Grand Canyon and love that we were able to see the condors on several occasions. Dinner at El Tovar is a wonderful experience, too.

Carole, I would have that discussion with the surgeon and his OPT. They do recommend that you not be taking narcotics and I think once he starts OPT he might need them. You didn't say which knee he had done but you probably can resume earlier if it is the left knee and you are driving an automatic car. Mostly it is about the ability to make lateral moves from the gas to the brake comfortably which involves both extension and flexion movements especially to avoid an accident. I waited until the end of August since it was my right knee. He seems to be doing well with walking. How is he doing on stairs?

Had to laugh about Lil' Red the escape artist. You think cat door and he thinks dog door, good luck with dissuading him. Glad to hear you are slowly starting to feel better.

My cousin was able to unearth some family records for me to check out today so I played hooky after doing daily chores and was able to check out most of the leads. Anyone who does genealogy will tell you that sometimes a lead leads to more questions than answers or as we say sends you in pursuit of "bright, shiny objects" that may lead you astray but because you feel you are making inroads (on someone's family info, maybe not your own) you keep chasing them. I had some of that today so I quit for now. I need to let these leads percolate a bit to see if I can get back on track.

Tomorrow I need to see if I can make an appointment for the EMG I need and to catch up with the upholsterer about the chair Misty damaged. I can no longer get replacement fabric so I am hoping they can replace the panels with a velvet fabric. I want to place an order with Walmart, too, for home delivery. I framed the prints I bought in France and now need to decide where to hang them. I am running out of walls, lol. One that I framed is actually a plastic placemat and it is lovely framed. I don't think anyone will know it is a placemat. All are different water lily scenes.

It was a lovely sunny but cool day. We have not had rain in over 36 days so it is really dry. I'll water the window boxes tomorrow and the flowers on the porch. No rain in the forecast for this week either.

Hope everyone had a good day.

Betrayal, dh needed both knees done but opted for the left so he could be driving by Thanksgiving. He wants to go to his nephew's in Jacksonville, FL, for Thanksgiving. DH likes Thanksgiving more than Christmas. I'm not a holiday enthusiast and haven't been for years. Because of travel and motels, Thanksgiving costs us more than Christmas. I find that all holidays are highly commercial and are all about consumerism. You can get your fill of decorations just by visiting stores. Sam's Club is already ablaze with Christmas yard decorations.

This morning I'm glad for the time change. I have a 9:15 appointment and getting up earlier gives me a time cushion.

    Happy Monday.

We can stop waiting for life to become perfect and start working with what we’ve got to make it as satisfying as we can. We can accept, bless, give thanks, and get going. Today, we can begin to call forth the riches from our everyday life. Procrastination has robbed us of too many precious opportunities. Call a friend for lunch, begin to read or even write that novel, organize your papers. Try a new recipe for dinner, smile at everyone you meet, sit and dream before a blazing fire, pick up your needlepoint again, act as if you’re grateful to be alive, scatter joy. Think of one thing that would give you a genuine moment of pleasure today and do it.     -Sarah Ban Breathnach

Woke up to rain this morning — still on-going. It looked funny most of the day yesterday but did nothing so we are getting our what has become somewhat famous night rains. Still going on this morning. When I got up it was strong enough to hear it quite well on the roof with the household quiet. Slower now but still going. I had thought to see more progress on leaf removal from the yard, but obviously not happening today at all.

Carole, I am with you pretty much on the holidays. I always enjoyed them mainly, but since my health travails the last few years I now tend to see every day I'm given as a holiday so do not make big distinctions anymore. I do tend to think many of the 'holidays' are suited more to children as it is the adults who 'make' them happen and I do think those traditions are fine — but we are mainly on our own here and since every day is a GREAT day to celebrate for me, I just seldom bother with distinctions. Hats off to those who still enjoy - I mean no disrespect.

An Adele show sounds like something so very easily enjoyed.

Betrayal, I admire your family research and think it such a positive endeavor for those who choose to do it. Most of us likely could find some interesting people in our backgrounds. We are — in addition to so many other representations, Cherokee — so I also know how varied it can be. I have come to see myself more as an entity from the human race and so over time have not much concerned myself with the particulars. I try to embrace all others as much as one can.

Almost 9 a.m. as the rain continues. We are fairly wet. I think we were only starting to dry out well from last rain.

I hope you all have a really nice Monday. Will be nice to get tomorrow done with. I hope all goes well.

Some of the stories my cousin and I have uncovered during research have had us in stitches and others have had us glad that their eccentricities/sketchiness were not current issues for us. No murderers or those requiring incarceration but a few with some mental health issues, poor souls. I had researched with my cousin my maternal side of the family since she is descended from the first wife of my mggf and I am descended from his second wife. I had written a family history about this branch of the family many years ago and then decided I would do my father's lineage. For the most part they originated in Ireland and settled in Philadelphia (I live in the suburbs), the town where I was raised and the town across the Delaware where I had been born. Fortunately, most of the family history revolves around the Philadelphia region which made access to records easier.

I do miss the days when we haunted the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia branch of the National Archives, and the city records though not necessarily the civil servants we had to deal with. We were just reminiscing about how we met over 30 years ago through the Genealogical Helper and all the expeditions we took to local cemeteries in NJ and PA, historical societies in NJ and the slices of Sicilian pizza we ate at a local eatery. Now we mostly correspond by email, work on tracing reluctant relatives on Ancestry and Family Search, helping each other work through research brick walls (yes, we ignore family relationships in this instance) and exchanging ideas for new approaches. We allow each other access on Ancestry to our respective family trees so we can gauge what is available and what is missing. I used to research my pgm's line with another cousin and our escapades were pretty much the same but she died of MBC years ago and I still miss her.

I got an appointment for an EMG and had to laugh when she offered me an 8 AM appointment. Nope, I am retired so no real early appointments for me. It's in 2 weeks versus the first one offered which was February 2025.

Today, I am going to knock out the touch-up painting of baseboards, door trim and the panel in the upper hallway which I keep forgetting about. I did hand 2 of the Monet water lilies photos in my bedroom replacing 2 wall hangings that had belonged to my mother. They will go elsewhere.

The sun is out but it is somewhat overcast and we are now on day 36 with no rain. I have to go water the window boxes and rain is predicted for Sunday. It is supposed to hit 72 today so that's a plus.

Hope everyone has a great day.

    There is no physician like cheerful thought for dissipating the ills of the body;
there is no comforter to compare with good will for dispersing the shadows
of grief and sorrow.  To live continually in thoughts of ill will, cynicism, suspicion,
and envy, is to be confined in a self-made prison hole.  But to think well of all,
to be cheerful with all, to patiently learn to find the good in all—such unselfish
thoughts are the very portals of happiness; and to dwell day by day in thoughts
of peace toward every creature will bring abounding peace to their possessor.

It's quiet on the oldies thread. DH has an appointment with his knee surgeon at 1 pm. We'll vote afterwards on our way home. I'm dreading the outcome of this election, afraid of who might win. The candidate I won't be voting for.

Despite those fears, Happy Tuesday to all.

Happy to be playing Mahjongg tonight. I'll follow election results when I get home. I'm sure it will go on and on; I'm trying to focus on the fact that I can still freely vote thanks to those who've gone before.

Hubby brought home apples which is a hint for pie I believe. Now to generate the energy to make it.

Hmmmm, I can smell the apple pie baking almost with that little touch of cinnamon.

Carole, I think everyone feels concern today. It is raining again. I had hoped the report was wrong, but not so. We will go out later to vote and hopefully during a dry spell. Tomorrow is supposed to be 'nice' and I hope it is a good omen for all of us women including Vice Presidents.

Reader, I play a lot of Mahjong on the computer. I really enjoy it. Seldom beat the time on the three dimensional, but fun to try. I like to play games, but I'm a bit selective which one. I finished a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle yesterday. Dh usually helps but hasn't for a while. His glasses don't work well he says so he has a lot of issue with color making it harder to select possibilities for different spaces.

Getting over my Covid fairly well so we will soon be able to go over and see my friend Jo. Dh's glasses (his good ones) are actually at her house and have been. Tried to send him alone, but getting into the house can be tricky. I have a key, and it makes it easy for me but Dh always now being slow struggles now and then with things normally easy.

Hope you all have a good day. Betrayal, we are due to be done with our rain tomorrow and hopefully it will veer to your direction.

Saying hi to all and hoping it is a good day for everyone.

Busy day for me. I had a hair appointment at 10 am in a town about 35 minutes drive. Afterwards I spent $206 at the Walmart in this town buying nonfood supplies and grocery basics. Back home, unload, put things away. Lunch for dh and me. Then a short drive to a medical office to have a laser treatment on my back. The treatments may amount to snake oil but I've decided to give them a try since the cost is affordable.

Now, whew, time to relax and do my NYT puzzles.

The election didn't go my way but that has happened before. It is what it is. I can always hope for positive outcomes I don't expect to happen.

    Happy Wednesday.

I'm so with you Carole. I do think there is positive but then sometimes hope is the only best friend you have close so I'm keeping it.

Carole, hope DH got good news from surgeon. How long is the drive from your home to Jacksonville for Thanksgiving? He might find on long drives his knee will stiffen. It does sound like a plan though. Always more fun with family.

It was sunny and 80 degrees today. Nice out so I watered with watering can plants that have decided to hang in there in spite of the drought, I think we are on day 38 with no rain. Lawn is browning and easily dislodged. Unseasonal but I enjoyed it. Did laundry, flipped through clothing advertisements and they ended up in the recycles.

On genealogy I was able to discover that a good friend of my mother's was actually a distant relative and I know that I had found this link many moons ago when I did all research records on yellow lined tablets. It was nice to find it again. We lived in NJ and they lived in PA but I can remember going to visit them as a child so a nice memory. They had worked together when they were single and kept together with "girl's nights" when they met for dinner on occasion with other friends. So it connected my pggm's line (not my mother's line) to her via marriages over the decades. What do they say about 6 degrees of separation?

Needed to keep my mind elsewhere today so genealogy is a great escape and a reward as well since I learn so much about my family especially about how it was shaped by different times and experiences.

Hope everyone had a good day. Here's something that might brighten it for you as well.
