Busy week trying to reacclimate to being home from our trip to Ireland. The trips were wonderful and ones we would do again since they hit on the areas we love. I still have some photos I will post later. The last tour was a rainy one so that put a real damper on our trip to the Aran islands where it was a downpour and made the walk to the fort a no go due to concerns about falls. We settled for a decadent slice of Victorian Sponge cake and hot tea instead and enjoyed it immensely.
I got laundry done quickly, but had to sort through gifts we brought home for family members and cleaning out the suitcases of clothing items unworn plus the other trip paraphernalia. I usually restock the personal items bag before I store it in the trip closet. Luggage ready to return to attic when DH gets to it.
Then it's getting back into the daily routine of household chores, pet care, cooking and cleaning. We did do a picnic with DD and DSIL on Monday and had burger, hot dogs, potato and macaroni salad and cucumber salad. It was something we did not have on our trip so it was a nice welcome home.
Had a pain management appointment yesterday and when I showed up at the office where the appointment had been made and always use, I was informed my appointment had been made (in error on their part) for the hospital office clear across the county. There were 4 employees talking behind the receptionist who was trying to check me in and I had to keep repeating my responses. There was some sort of office drama they were caught up in and they were totally engaged in ignoring everything else including the volume of their discussion. I ended up canceling the appointment and did not reschedule. I later sent an email to the PA about what had occurred. I was angry that they had screwed up my appointment.
I went to Produce Junction for some fruits and vegetables as well as flowers for my patio, and the window boxes. I got some beautiful flowers in hanging baskets, some flats of flowers for the pots on the patio and some vines for accents for the pots. Today I was able to make a good start on the patio flower arrangements. I had planted dahlia and lily bulbs in planters before I left and they are growing nicely. I finished the 3 window boxes, too. I still have some planters to do, but after making multiple trips carrying flats and pots from the garage area to the patio, and then filling multiple pots, I was tired. I sprayed all arrangements with Deer Off and hope it does its job.
DSIL reported a doe with twin fawns was visiting the yard, but we have yet to see her. They did get a few of my hostas, so the survivors have all been sprayed, too. The weeds are on my radar and I ordered mulch on Amazon! I was able to find a good price for 80 bags on a pallet and home delivery. It was cheaper than Home Depot and is a Scott's brand. It will arrive next week.
We bought some pottery in Kilkenny at Arch Pottery and it will arrive next week as will a vase we bought at Waterford. DH fell in love with it and insisted we had to have it. Unlike him to do something like this, but it will be a family heirloom.
Have ironing to do and will probably tackle it over the weekend. Next week we have a trip to the Reading Terminal Market and bus tour of Philadelphia planned.
I had trouble scheduling my follow-up mammogram and ultrasound. Normally I could call and get an appointment within a week to 10 days, but was informed first available was 7/23. I could get an earlier one where I was initially dx and took it, but then had second thoughts due to it triggering me. However, scheduling agent told me due to my complaint of breast pain for the past month, she would message center. I reached out to MO to tell her about breast pain via portal. I then get a call back from scheduling agent and have a Monday 6/1 appointment. MO's office called because she wants me to see her NP after I have the studies. No call from them to schedule it though and was told they would call me.
taco, how are you doing? I hope you are more mobile now.
Chris, no post from you in awhile, so I hope all is well.
carole, glad you made it to MN safely.
cindyny, enjoy reading what you are doing now that you are back in NY.
Hope everyone had a great day and waving "hi" to everyone.

Betrayal, welcome back! I totally enjoyed your pictures and look forward to more. You certainly hit the ground running on your return.
Carole, we’re not getting real hot days but we are getting cool nights. Last night when I went upstairs it was freezing. We put a fan in the guest room across the hall, blowing out - which pulls in cold air to our bedroom. I turned everything off, and clicked on the electric blanket. Crazy. It 57 & raining now!
I started doing the PT exercises for my shoulder yesterday. It takes over an hour to complete, and today after more, I felt sore. From doing no weight work, to doing 20 reps 3x is a lot. I’m no longer a gym rat, going on 5 years I’d bet, so I'm guessing its just muscles I haven’t used. There are 18 exercises, broken up over the days (10-12 different ones per day) and I’m doing them on both arms.
Met with my thorasic surgeon today to follow up on my lung CT. Confirmed all are stable. Even showed me small scar tissue on the lung from radiation. When I had rads (left breast) I did hypofractionated and I mentioned their concern for my heart. He pulled that up on the CT and showed me my heart too. Said all looked good. I left there a happy camper, he’ll see me in a year after another lung CT.
Then I went to Paul Mitchell to see if I could get in for a hair cut. Luck was on my side and I was seated. I finally got a great cut, she took off about 3” of sun & heat abused hair. Now the funny part - we’ve never met before, so how I do my hair vs how she did it were stark opposites. I can’t think of who I looked like so you’d get a picture. Face framing - but curled away from my face, bangs, and big loopy curls in back - that did look nice, because she took pictures and showed me. I didn’t have the heart to stop her because I know it’s not permanent. But I did thin out/whisp my bangs once I got home, and tomorrow night after my shower I’ll get it back to my normal. Bottom line is, it’s cut and I’m glad. I still don’t know what it reminds me of… maybe something from the 50’s? Or just a mix of two different styles.
Tomorrow thankfully is the weekend and no doctors. I plan a CVS run for allergy meds and I think that’s it.
Hope you all have a great weekend.4 -

Yes, Betrayal. I am back. Computer got a malicious pop-up. Didn't have enough money to get it fixed. Asked a friend if he could pay, he agreed. I took it out to the shop, she fixed it for free. LOL on me.
I am doing a lot of doctoring in June. Physical therapy, she did a thorough evaluation, found a lot of problems. Has me scheduled for twice a week. I get the final appointment with my plastic surgeon. He has done both hands and my right breast. I hope I never see him again! An appointment with a dietitian. Then dental appointments, going to get some decent dentures. Then I have a counseling appointment. Then a visit with a rheumatologist. I found out how I got my hearing loss. Smokers with Sjogren's syndrome get hearing loss which starts as a little "cookie bite" on the audiogram, which I had. If they don't quit, it progresses to total hearing loss. I quit smoking because I thought it was a possibility for me. My ex-PCP handed me off to a hearing aid vendor who specializes with age-realted loss, he wouldn't even show me the audiogram, and my insurance only paid for some real crappy ones. Hopefully with this diagnosis I will qualify for better service on this problem.
Tippy is not going to be happy!
Making progress on my writing project. Just praying that my reviewers will finally give their approval soon.
My grandson is getting baptized this weekend. I will be getting pictures, and maybe a video. They finally yielded to the pressure of three of Jimmy's grandparents. The fourth doesn't need to know.
No travels, no serious medical problems. Tippy did get a sore back because his tail was too heavy. It is now trimmed way back. Sad, but what Tippy needs, he gets.
4 -
Chris, I am sure you will be glad to end your relationship with your plastic surgeon. Are you satisfied with his results?
Sorry Tippy's weighty tail gave him back issues. He's such a companion to you and I'm sure he is out of sorts when he's in pain. Was he able to tell you using his buttons.
Hope you get a video of the christening and some photos, too.
June is either tests or doctors for me as well. I am really getting tired of having to see them and so far I have a few in July, too. Hope you can hearing aids and dentures that improve the quality of your life. A bad cough years ago left me with a hearing loss in left ear. When hearing returned tinnitus accompanied it. I use hearing aids to dampen it.
Today was a lovely day, sunny, cooler with a nice steady breeze. It was really cool this morning so I decided to iron, and I made some potato salad. When it warmed up I decided to weed and then to remove ferns that were growing in the lawn. Once I dug them up, I decided to plant them on the front hill that I am trying to fill with ferns. It's too shady for any other landscaping. I had to dig out the ferns I planted last year that didn't make it and weed this area before I could plant the ones I had available. Then I watered them and the patio flowers I planted yesterday. I had watered them yesterday, but found today's wind was enough to dry them out. Mission accomplished.
cindyny, glad you were able to get your haircut. Your experience with a new stylist made me laugh. Never know what their thoughts are.
Interesting what you said about radiation tx. Glad your CT was stable and doctor showed you lung scar. Makes me wonder if anyone will ever tell me what is due to radiation. I had the maximum permissible radiation prescribed to my left breast and it left me with complications.
Hope everyone had a great day and waving "hi" to everyone.

Quiet thread lately. Hope everyone's doing okay.
Carole, you must have a really good camera to get such a closeup of the loon! Betrayal, thanks for taking with us to Ireland.
I too feel like it's doctor month, plus twice a week PT. I am doing well. Using a cane outside but fine inside. Could bend 113 degrees at 2 weeks. Hard to sit with my leg down for any extended period of time but bridge keeps me distracted enough that I'm back to that. No golf until the end of the month though. Too bad because we've had a week of really nice weather for Phoenix in late May. AC during the day but the house is open during the night. Chris - hope you can get all the medical help you need. Just makes me mad!
We had dinner tonight with Bella's Mom and her caregiver. Great evening for all of us. The caregiver is quite the young woman. Only 19, works as a caregiver 5 days a week and is going to junior college on line with plans to be a speech therapist. Just the kind of immigrant we need! Jie looked better than I expected but has more surgery coming up.
Have to brag about "my Ella." A freshman in high school, she was first in her class of almost 600 taking all AP classes - and keeping up with her skating. And more than that - she's a really nice kid. Again this year, she and Maureen brought me a Mother's Day gift. I'm really glad they are in our lives.
Debbie's doing well. Needs to see the cardiologist next week and then should be able to go back to work. The good thing about the surgery delay is that Maine's paid FMLA started May 1st, Her HR person has been great in helping her get all the paperwork together.
Ken's watching the ball game and swearing a lot. I'm headed for the tub and then my book. Just finished "54 Miles". Liked it but not as well as the one before it - "The Last Thing I'll Surender." My niece recommended the new one by Sockett (author of "The Help") but I haven't gotten it yet. Book club read "Horse" which I also enjoyed although I know nothing about horse racing. Did recommend it to my great niece who wants to be a large animal vet.
Big hugs to all who need them, especially the new ladies who are suffering.

A pleasure to read newsy posts this morning, especially since the news was mostly good.
Taco, I took the photo of the loon with my phone and cropped the photo. Goodness knows how many photos of Mamma Loon are out there! I wish I could see babies before she whisks them away when they’re “born.”
One of my pleasures here in lake country is spotting the white swans. There seems to be some agreement among the swan population that each small lake (we would call them ponds) has a pair of swans.
We had a second successful farmers market yesterday. Dh’s new lower priced items, spatulas, scoops, and honey dippers, attract a lot of attention and get people to stop at our booth.
Betrayal, your gardening season has begun. Weeds in your flowerbeds beware.
Happy Sunday to everyone.

He didn't know "back", so he was complaining about his belly.
My hearing loss started 25 years ago. And unaided I cannot understand speech. If I could quantify it, I have lost about half. It slowed down about five years ago, when I vaped to quit smoking. The hand to mouth habit was very strong.
She sent me a photo. I will post it later.
Yes, I agree. We are here to help the newcomers. I was too busy coping with my health issues (instead of resolving them). The vacation did me a lot of good.
3 -
carole, I saw my first loon ever in a lake in a small Welsh town many years ago. I had to ask a native what it was and I have been fascinated by them ever since. Glad DH is making some sales at the markets.
I love swans, we had a pair locally until they drained the lake where they lived fearing a dam break, and they were relocated or died off. The River Shannon in Limerick has many swans and we were able to see the cygnet/swan evolution where they had both colorings. I took photos and will try to post them. A neighbor has an inflatable one in his pond to try to keep the Canadian geese out and I can't say it has been a success, but it does catch one's attention.
Yes, I am back to gardening and happy to be able to do so. It has always been my therapy. A fellow traveler mentioned she had a cleaning lady and asked if I had one, I told her "no", I'd rather have a gardener than a cleaning lady any day. I don't think she liked my reply, but it's the truth. I'd like to have someone to share my vision and work division with. When you see the gardens in Ireland, it makes you well aware of the shortcomings of my garden. Of course, climate dictates I will never be able to achieve their gardens, but the splendor of theirs leaves you breathless. One can dream though.
Chris, I meant to say I am keeping my fingers crossed that your reviewers give you the thumbs up on your writing. You have been working hard on it and deserve some positive feedback.
Taco, happy to hear you are mobile and getting out and about. Resuming golf will be a bonus and hopefully more pleasurable now that you knee is fixed. Happy to hear that Debbie is well on the road to recovery. Ken's cursing at sports on TV caused a chuckle from me.
Today is another nice day and my plan is to attack the stone wall in my hidden garden. I had weeded and cleaned the upper area of this garden prior to the trip. The wall needs some serious attention because one section seems to lose some stones every winter. I put them back, but realize I need to identify the root cause in this section before it causes more failure. So I'll dismantle that section until I find the stable portion, remove dirt or roots if they are the cause and then replace the stones in a balanced manner. I believe there is no mortar in the wall and we have no idea how long ago this wall was even built since it took me about 2 years, after we moved here, before I even knew it existed. I transplanted ferns there since it was shady and they have thrived in the flat section and installed a flagstone walkway the entire length of the upper and lower sections. I still need to weed the lower section and may get to it today, if time and energy permits.
I spent over 3 hours working on the wall and found additional sections where the rocks were unstable. So I dismantled each section, dug out massive amounts of dirt that was pushing on the rocks and removed large amounts of pachysandra which was contributing to the instability. I ended up doing this to about 5 sections of the wall. It seems the lower part of the wall is mortared in place, but the upper is not. Some of those rocks were very heavy and if they had landed on someone's foot, they would have a serious injury. I tested each area after to ensure the rocks were stable in their new position. It was like constructing a jigsaw puzzle to find the best fitting rock for the gap.
There are strategically placed drainage pipes and I cleaned dirt out of all of them. I asked DH to help at this point since I wanted him to transport the dirt to the pachysandra area that DS had used the rototiller on. Most of the pachysandra I planted there did not make it. I loaded a Home Depot bucket with dirt and DH moved it for me. I swept the flagstones once the dirt was gone and repositioned some flagstones on the walkway leading to the hidden garden. This dirt is very rich looking and I am hoping when I plant the pachysandra, it makes it this time. I am tired and still want to water the plants on the patio. I do need more plants and hope to go to Produce Junction after my mammo tomorrow.
I was told by my MO's office nurse that she wanted me to see her NP after I had my tests and that someone would call me to set up the appointment. When they hadn't called by Friday I figured they would call tomorrow. Imagine my surprise when I entered the portal to complete permission forms for the mammo to find that I have an appointment with her on Tuesday morning at an office a good distance from me. I sent them an email concerning the lack of communication. Fortunately, I don't have a conflict so I will see her. Just think this was very inconsiderate.
DH went to get dinner from Royal Farms. I have potato salad so we just need the chicken and biscuits.
I hope everyone had a great day and waving "hi" to everyone.

Went outside at 6am and weeded flower beds until 10:30am. Some of the weeds were over 3 ft tall. By that time it was 89 degrees and I was dripping wet. Still have 3 more beds to go - and need to plant the plumarias (two months late). At least the other three beds have afternoon shade. But not sure that helps with it's 96 degrees. I've asked one of my local friends to call & harass me every day next year if I don't get the weeding done by the end of March.

Left to right, Jimmy's aunt, her father (and James'), James, Maggie my daughter, Wendy who is James' mother, and her husband. And Jimmy, front and center, he is only 15 months old. And of course, Father. He is from someplace where they have an excess of priests. Maggis says he does well with both Spanish and English. The parish is mostly Hispanic.
I have four baskets out in one of the garden areas, beets and turnips, green beans, brussels sprouts and summer squash with a few nasturtiums. I have nasturtiums and some baby cucumbers planted in baskets hanging from shepherd's crooks on the northeast side of my apartment, and mint and hostas in the ground on the north side. I have some old wood chips with landscaping cloth under that I am going to get rid of, and plant it with clover so the maintenance guy doesn't have to weed-whip it (and attack the mint). My cleaning lady is coming tomorrow, and she will help me with that— I have a deal with her to get rid of my carpet machine. It is too much for me to handle anymore. She really wants it.
Mggie first got Jimmy a suit, but he was too active, and it immediately went cock-eyed. The romper is so much more appropriate and is white.

We are all of us stars, and we deserve to twinkle.

Jimmy is adorable.
Gentle rainfall started last night as we were going to bed. It was still falling when I got up. Dh will play golf and pull out his rain jacket when necessary.
I will go to the gym and also to Walmart to pick up a prescription and buy items on a list.
We had fresh asparagus purchased at the farmers market for a side dish last night. It was good but had me going to the bathroom during the night. Just like fresh green beans. Natural diuretics.
Minus, I can empathize with gardening in humidity. I would go inside soaked to the skin with perspiration. This year I left home with weeds in flowerbeds. I need to hire gardening help since my former dedication to large scale yard care is gone.
Betrayal, I don’t see Canadian geese here. Maybe the swans discourage them? They can be a nuisance.Thinking of Jackie and Puffin.
Happy Monday to all.
3 -
carole, the swans do chase Canadian geese. Funny that you mentioned Jackie because I dreamt about her last night. It was a sad dream and she is sorely missed. I think of Puffin often as well. Both were lovely ladies and both gone too soon.
Chris, lovely family photo and a happy occasion.
Mammo was read as NED, but I am still on 6 month follow-up rotation. Don't understand and will see NP tomorrow for her take on this. They said U/S was not indicated even though I had an order for one. Part of my dx was ILC and that is not detectable on mammo until it gets quite invasive, so that is always at the back of my mind. I once asked MO, if I had a recurrence what would it be DCIS, IDC, or ILC since I had all three on bx. She said "ILC." So the concern continues.
Lovely day and I ran to Produce Junction for more patio plants today. I got 3 pots of reduced patio planters for $14 and all thy need is some water and TLC. I also bought some hanging planters for my shepherd's hooks and will spray them with deer off to see if that will keep them from being eaten. I will fill some other planters with flowers previously purchased and today was able to get Dracaena spikes for them. The ones I had from last year did not winter over as they have in prior years. They were much cheaper at PJ than at Home Depot; I got 3 for less than the price of 1.
Today's plan is to work on the pachysandra I pulled yesterday. It's probably 2 or more hours worth of work and requires a lot of bending. I may use the hoe to dig holes rather than a shovel. Less labor intensive. Need to change out of dressier clothes into gardening clothes and apply sunscreen.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day and waving "hi" to everyone. Harley07, where are you? ChiSandy? Other MIA's? Hope all is well.

Good morning. I have been running around with all my activities. I have a LIFT brunch this morning and card ministry this afternoon. My friend, that I have been driving, is now able to drive herself. One activity off my plate. I am planning a run back to NC around the 10th or 11th. A family vacation is planned the first week in August. I am looking forward to that! Hoping there will not be any storms to deal with.
Chris - nice family photo.
Betrayal, welcome home.
Cindy, you sound busy. Hoping the pain won't slow you down.
4 -
Carole, I too should hire for weed pulling! It gets too much with both houses.
Chris, great family picture.
Betrayal, I’m running to multiple doctor appointments too. I hear you on the price of plants. I’ve stopped doing so many annuals.
Petite, it’s good you’re staying busy. And I’d bet the gathering in NC will be a lot of fun.
Today we planned to put up the screen house. First off, I couldn’t find the carpet that goes down under the screen house. SO informed, or reminded me, we threw it out at the end of last season!Well I called a local carpet discount company and was told they had it, outdoor fake grass, at $1.89 a sq ft. I was looking at $293! Nope. I’m not sure how much longer we’ll be putting up the screen house - it’s a pain, we’re getting older, I’d like a permanent structure. We have 2 brand new solar covers for the pool. One kept getting a lot of water on top and the only way to get it off was dumping it back in - full of pine needles and debris. So rather than pay near $300, or drive 10 miles away to see if a store had it (fear of losing momentum) I told SO we’d put the solar cover down and erect the screen house on it. You know you’re a redneck when.. I could hear that comedian in my head!
We got the screen house up with less trouble than I remember which was nice, but still exhausting. Then I cut back the solar cover, even used garden staples to hold it down nice by the door. Took out and cleaned furniture, pulled pillows and cushions out, end tables, hanging twinkle lights, even set up the Roku tv and all is working. And I put last years deck rug down upon the solar cover. Tomorrow I’ll be shipping for a new outdoor rug and new cushions. If you’re new here, I need to cover the entire lawn area where the screen house goes. The first year I left grass, and cicadas came on up through the earth inside of my screen house! That meant I didn’t go in there until they died or were removed; I actually can’t remember how I ended up back inside it. Funny, not funny.

Yesterday's visit took me 45 minutes to reach and then dx was supposition and left with prescription for lymphedema PT to left breast. Not first time I've had it, since it occurred during radiation. Think having to lift and carry heavy carry on precipitated it again. Might be aggravated by gardening, too. So called today for appointment and first available is July 27. I know PT so she said to make appointment and she will give me chance at cancelation. Scheduling secretary was unhappy about how long it was away and how company doesn't like to schedule that far ahead. I told her I'll take it because I don't want to miss out. Not many lymphedema trained PT's in area and she is P/T.
Today was coach trip to Reading Terminal Market followed by a coach tour of Philadelphia sights. When we arrived we were greeted by our guides who gave us the hx of the soft pretzel and then gave us 1/2 a pretzel. I saved mine to have with mustard later. Then they escorted us to a diner inside to have half a cheesesteak, a shared side of cheese fries and a soda. The tour showed us various food vendors including produce stands, bakeries, bars, and we got to have a small, baklava smoothie, slices of tomato pie with the best crust I have ever eaten and dessert was a glazed doughnut from Beiler's bakery. I saved mine again. We had about 20 minutes to shop (far too short to really do much), but I managed to buy some snickerdoodle cookies, apple dumplings, and some cream filled buns. DD picked up some raisin cinnamon buns and DSIL bought a Moroccan leather wallet. Had far too many carbs today.
Changed when I got home to plant one of two buckets of pachysandra. Will do second one tomorrow in morning before it gets too hot. Supposed to hit 90 for next few days. Watered plants and will water patio plants.
Doing third load of laundry and that's it for today. I didn't sleep well last night and think I will tonight.
Not hungry so sent DH, DD and DSIL out to eat.
Regan recovering well from dental cleaning and one extraction. Can't have hard treats so she is sulking. Will give her doggie ice cream tonight.
cindyny, love your stories. Quite creative to recycle solar pool cover.
Hope everyone had a great day and waving "hi" to everyone.

Everything we do in our growing up has been done before. But it needs recognition and validation each time for each one of us - public, private, and secret.

Went out early to finish planting second bucket of pachysandra. Once finished planting and watering it, and what I planted yesterday, I morphed into other garden chores. I pulled weeds from the hill, took the loppers and trimmed the dead branches off the Japanese holly and then went to the junipers to trim one dead branch off one. I also trimmed a few dead branches off the Golden cypress, but noticed that branches damaged by the deer over the winter show new growth on the tips.
I repositioned the metal animals (composed of discarded garden implements, springs, and gears) that DH had pulled out of the shed. He always places them facing out so you cannot see what they represent, so I turn them so you can see their bodies. They need to be repainted, I bought the paint so I just need to carve out the time to do them. It has to be a calm day so the spray paint doesn't spatter. There is a light breeze today, so it won't work.
I washed sheets and have a load of towels to do after I get cleaned up. I plan on doing inside chores because it will be too hot outside soon. It is already 80 at noon, but the humidity is low today, so it is tolerable. Headed to 90, so a reason to stay in the AC.
DB is coming tomorrow to start on list of chores not in our skill set. He took a train tour with another brother, so I want to hear how it went. That brother has major heart issues and is really not in good shape. Ironically he was the most physically fit of all of us and was a former runner, jiujitsu black belt (from age 15) and gym rat. Always remained lean as well.
Need to get back to work here before inertia sets in. Hope everyone has a great day and waving "hi" to everyone.

betrayal - sorry to hear you have lymphedema flaring up. I hope you can get in sooner than end/July. Enjoy the gardening but be careful not to overdo it.
Waving ‘hi’ to all and thinking of those not feeling well.3 -
Betrayal, I envy you being able to work in your garden. I haven't felt well enough to even purchase flowers this year much less plant them. Hopefully that will still happen!

I was up and out early for a walk in the park with a gf. It was hot, so we kept it short, but it was still enjoyable.
Then this afternoon I had my cardiologist appointment. Everything was good. He even asked if I wanted to continue to see him as nothing is wrong. I said yes, due to my family history. I am going to do an exercise stress test at the end of the month.
Then later in the afternoon I got in the pool. It needed the old “walk around with old dish towels on my feet.” It cleared up a green algae tinge that we couldn’t brush off from outside. The pool was about 76-78, once you’re in it’s comfortable considering it was 84 outside. Then once out of the pool we had to wash off the solar cover - it was covered in pine pollen, pine needles and bird poop; what a mess. Everything completed. I put in clarifier and chlorine. Tomorrow I’ll put in some algaecide. It never ends.

No society can surely be flourishing and happy, of which the far greater part of the members are poor and miserable.

harley07, I am hoping she gets a cancelation before 7/27. Right now I am so swollen, I feel premenstrual and I never enjoyed it then and most certainly don't now. Bad enough I felt like I went through menopause multiple times with the AI's. Thank you for your response.
Temp outside is 86 at 4 PM, but feels much hotter. No breeze today and while humidity is still lower, it feels sticky when you are out there. I have been limiting outside time to running out to apply a coat of spray paint first on powder room shelves and next will be the stork yard ornament I have in backyard. It is made from the base of a shovel, the neck is a pipe, and the beak is made from garden shear blades. The legs and feet are made from rebar pieces. The legs, feet and beak need orange paint which I have, but I have the white out to do the shelving, so just its body, neck and head will be done today. Had to scrub it to remove algae so will let it dry before first coat applied.
I want to paint the frame of the powder room medicine cabinet mirror and think I have the paint. I will save that for tomorrow.
DB was here to start on my "to-do" list and made a significant dent. He needs parts to effect some of the repairs, needs to get a new lock for the back door storm door and to buy a new ceiling shower light to replace the one we have which is difficult to reinsert after changing the light bulb.
I have indoor household chores I can do and will get a start on them. The powder room is done and once DH is out of the laundry room, I will clean that one. Kitchen, family room, and foyer will be tackled over the weekend. Dining room and living room just need a dusting.
Have doctor's appointments next week: Monday is cardiologist; and Tuesday is Pulmonology. Then a break until end of month when I see ophthalmologist. DH and DD celebrate birthdays this month. DH on the 16th and DD on the 21st. We are having a family party for DH on the 14th when everyone can get together at the Bonefish Grill. They provide a private room and as a surprise I invited the DB and DSIL, who stay in touch, to come. We haven't seen them since December when we were at her father's funeral and luncheon.
Unfortunately, the DB who does the work for us, his wife has a very sharp tongue and said some unforgiveable words directed at me at my mother's funeral. It was loud enough that everyone heard her. We no longer speak or mingle, so I can't invite him without her. Her daughter did seek us out at my niece's wedding and was quite pleasant so that link has not been severed.
Now that all the nieces are married, we no longer have family get togethers except for showers and funerals. I missed my niece's baby shower in May because we were in Ireland and it also was the same day as my BFF's birthday party. Ireland saved me from making a decision that would have hurt someone.
Guess that's about it for now. I am hoping the stork is dry so I can apply a coat of paint. I'll wrap the beak, legs and feet in saran wrap to protect them from the paint.
I hope everyone had a great day and waving "hi" to everyone. Stay cool.

Apologies in advance for length:
I went out early to attempt to secure a side door on my extended portion of the garage. I think it’s been 5-6 years ago that I had our front entrance replaced. Old one was custom- side lights (6 panes), transom lights (6 panes) and door (3 x 5 panes); replaced with same custom - all newer products vs wood & glass. I kept the door thinking I’d use it on the garage. At some point we did put it as the side door, but the door frame is out of whack (technical term there HA!). It’s like “there was a crooked house” song. So it was more wedged in there, than secured. The door is unusable, there is a post that holds a regular electrical outlet, and special pool outlet, partially blocking the opening of the door (don’t ask LOL).
As wood will expand and contract, if there was a good gust of wind and the main garage door was open, our replaced door would fall out and hit the pole. Not a big deal, all recycled material, but you know I’m not here 6 months so I wanted the door to stay put in the opening.
Last night I came up with a plan. This morning I went out to clean out the area inside to get to the door. I had 3 bags of topsoil stacked there. Once I saw the inside of the door, I remembered it had one of those slide locks. All I needed to do was drill a hole big enough for the slide to fit in. And on the inside of the frame was an “eye” circle ⭕️, all I needed was a hook.
This took me on a side mission to find the hook in the mess of bins that hold all sorts of junk - my dad would say Fibber McGee’s closet; except think Tupperware type bins, in an old dresser. OMG I did purge a lot but could have done much more, kept my focus on the hook. Never found one.
Ended up at Lowe’s and bought a heavy duty eye hook lock for a gate. Installed it and I’m done. One extension cord I threw out, didn’t work at all - I saw an old repair, all copper wires hanging out of it.
If you’ve read this far, lord bless you.
It was 87 here! All the bins I pulled out are still out. It’s too hot on my back porch to futz around getting the bins back in the dresser. That’s tomorrow mornings job.It pretty much took me half the day. My cousin who hasn’t retired yet when he said he was retiring last year… he’d probably have framed it out nicely on the outside. And he still can, when and if he starts working on it. But framing isn’t in my wheelhouse. CHECK that off my list.
