Taco, good news that you're recovering ahead of schedule.
It's June 14 and we're running the heat pump this morning. Yesterday was a miserable day for me at the farmers market, thanks to the wind blowing 10 to 20 with gusts that threatened to turn all the vendors' tents into hot air balloons. I wore three layers and must have looked like a witch with windblown hair. Our sales were the lowest of the summer. Only small items. There were people out but not our kind of customers.
We picked up a carrot cake decorated with Happy Birthday and dh's name. His birthday was last Monday. Back at home I made a broccoli salad for a potluck party for Mark, who's selling his camper and boat and leaving the campground. People were dressed in warm clothes. There was ample food, as always, and the gathering was congenial.
The sun is shining this morning but it's still windy and will be windy tomorrow.
Happy Sunday to all.

Very quiet on this thread, reminding me that Jackie aka Illinois Lady posted every day.
It's sunny this morning but was low 50's when I got up. We're relying on the heat pump to warm up the 5th wheel in its noisy fashion. The day is supposed to warm up to about 75 but still be windy. DH will be heading to the golf course and I will be driving to town to the gym. As nearly always, I have a list of items for the supermarket. Plus a trip to the bank and the liquor store.
I'm looking forward to enjoying the deck again with some MN summer that isn't hot or cold and windy. I know my poor blooming plants in pots on the deck haven't been happy. Still, I'm thankful that we didn't get the huge hail that battered a town to the south of us a few days ago. It broke windows in houses and windshields on vehicles.
Happy Monday to all.

The very word 'secrecy' is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths, and to secret proceedings.

Awaiting mulch delivery today after 2 failed attempts to deliver it. First time they got 1/2 way up the driveway only to discover the mulch was not on the truck and the second delivery was also a case of no mulch on the truck which they discovered early. So today was the new date and they claim it is on the truck.
DH's birthday is tomorrow, but we had a family party yesterday so all could attend. We went to the Bonefish Grill for dinner and had reserved their private room several months ago. Everyone was permitted to order off the menu and DGS wanted to know if he could order a lobster tail extra to go with his rainbow trout. When I mentioned he had said he wanted the twin lobster tails he said he changed his mind and was "saving me money" which amounted to a whole dollar, lol. So everyone enjoyed the Bang Bang shrimp and Blackened chicken egg rolls as appetizers and their meals. Dessert was mostly Key Lime pie, or Drunken coconut pie for most. So it was DS's family, DD and her DH, and my DB and DSIL who were the surprise guests. They live an hour away and I was so happy they were able to make it.
Bonefish had done a nice job decorating the table with a long Happy Birthday decoration and small vases of flowers. DD and DSIL made a special trip to Five Below to buy additional decorations including balloons, a birthday hat which he actually put on so we could get a photo, and boxes of mixed candies including Hershey's kisses, peanut butter cups and the small Hershey's bard and Kit Kats. DH was dreading this party, but he seemed to have a good time.
Everyone cam back to the house afterwards and stayed for a longer visit. we gave DS's family the gifts we had brought them back from Ireland. I had also gotten DGD some items at Five Below and she was pleased with them.
DGD is in a boot for what was initially dx as a bad sprain and later dx as a bone chip on a growth plate so she will be in this for most of the summer. She is forbidden to go in her GM's pool and it looks like she will be unable to attend the annual trip to Wildwood for a week. She can't take the boot off except to get a quick shower and must sleep in it as well. DS has been displeased with poor communication by the Orthopedic docs who say one thing and later call with a change in plans. I encouraged him to get a second opinion at this point. She had been discharged from the boot at an appointment and several hours later (post-x-ray which should have been available at appointment) and told to get the boot back on ASAP. No need to wear to bed, and then a call hours later, saying boot on 24 hours/day. She's only 10 so getting this healed it critical for the future growth of that leg. DDIL is also concerned that her heel is turning white from being confined in the hot boot.
DD had given DH gifts from the PGA which was held here and DS will do some new fencing chores that DH needs assistance with plus he got him (and me) a Nothing Bundt cakes for tomorrow. DH wanted a new Italian leather to replace the one he bought when we were in Florence and was able to find one online so that was my gift to him i addition to the party.
I was able to spend some time printing out individual and family group sheets for parents, and as many grandparents as I had information on. I organized them in one new binder for the present, but my intention is to create a binder for each family that I have written a history about. I also purchased clear archival pages to store the documents I have on each family such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc. I have so many records gathered during research that I need to sort through and just keep those that are my direct family. I'm not sure what I will do with those that bear the same surname, but turned out not to be related though. I hate to just toss them, but am not sure if some historical society would accept them since so many do online research today and don't want paper records.
Massive thunderstorms rolled through last night and thankfully watered my wilting patio flowers. The claps of thunder were exceptionally loud and flash flood warnings came through on my phone. We needed the rain and it came in a downpour that lasted for hours.
It is sunny, warm and looks to be a lovely day. Hoping all of you have a wonderful day and waving "hi" to everyone.
I agree with carole, so many of you who have not posted lately are missed and we need to hear from you. It's been very quiet here.

I don't post often here as I am still in active treatment and am unsure whether I fit the profile for this forum although I am 73. But I actively read along and enjoy reading how well you all are doing post treatment. But here is a little bit about my life that I posted on another forum today.
My DD and DGD are still on their Caribbean cruise and we have the responsibility of the dog. My DD wanted to take my DGD to Universal Studios and Harry Potter World for her eleventh birthday, and then they went on a cruise with her brother, my son, who often joins them on their vacations. My DH doesn't want the dog to have to stay in her crate for the six hours we will be gone for my appointments tomorrow so he has decided to bring her and sit with her in the car, take her for walks, etc., while I deal with my appointments alone. He hates driving and doesn't want two round-trips, and really doesn't mind sitting in the car. He is an avid radio operator and spends the time I am inside the hospital on the radio. I think the dog will be ok but it his extra work, and it will not be hot tomorrow. We can't leave her loose as she has a tendency to run outside and bark if not crated. Our usual friends and family who love to watch her are all away. My problem is I will have my purse, my oxygen tank and the cooler with my feet and hand ice mitts so I will need a wheelchair or something to get around and carry things as they are heavy, and I can barely make it to the infusion center without extra baggage. Fortunately it is all at the hospital so hopefully I can get enough help. Should be an interesting day!

Last Tuesday I had 2 gfs visit. We hung in the screen house and had a gab fest. I might have already told you . 🤷♀️
Thursday I left on a girls trip. We went to Greenwood Lake - a place on the lake rented thru VBRO. But it was 91 and humid to boot! The place says it had a beach but was truly a spit of dirt with 2 lounge chairs. I went out on the dock, other ladies screaming - they saw a snake in the water. Hiking all around but at the high temperatures we did none. So no swimming & no hiking.
Fri: We went to a movie but it was Sci-Fi which I hate. But I figured go with an open mind. After 30-45 minutes I left and sat in the lobby. I was able to catch up on emails, texts, etc. All good.
Saturday: the town had a street fair, full of vendors. We had an enjoyable time. Spent some money, then headed out to lunch. Restaurant was great, the food was very good too. And they offered a boat tour of the lake. So after eating we took a 1.5 hr tour. It was very informative, beautiful scenery and heard the history to it all.
Sunday we packed, cleaned up and hit the road.Cove Castle - restaurant, boat tour, even a wedding venue. They had a band at 5:30, and at 8:30 they were putting on the Knicks - giant screen set up outside.
Derek Jeter and his sister redid this place. It recently sold for $6 million. There is a mini Statue of Liberty; infinity pool, and so much more.
This home has marble pillars- it’s where Babe Ruth stayed. I can’t remember if he owned it or rented it.
The lakes history goes back to it having a 3 story ice house, where they’d store the ice cut from the frozen lake - 2’ thick. Then 8 or 9 large resorts would pick up passengers by boat from a train stop - rich and famous vacationed. Further along many boxer’s trained there; major music venue where big names played; when NY drinking was 18 and NJ was 21, I believe he said there were 70+ bars and clubs along the lake, and I assume near by, for all those NJ youths coming to drink in NY.
That’s where I’ve been. I did stay up, when everyone went to bed at 8:30 to read, to watch the Knicks. Nite owl can’t phantom going to bed at 8:30, and the Knicks did not disappoint. I don’t normally watch basketball but I felt vested in it because it being NY. Not proud of the actions of the few fans destroying property and/or beating on Spurs fans - unacceptable. I hope all are caught and prosecuted.
Today I spent an hour scraping the char off the side of the garage. Face mask KN95, gloves, glasses and black shorts & shirt. It’s WORK. I sent a text to a guy who does vinyl siding. I hope to get an estimate to side it. I don’t even care what color, as it faces the neighbors who nearly burnt it down. I’d like Cape Cod gray to match everything, but if the contractor has leftovers from a previous job and can give me a $ break, I’ll go with whatever. I showered & did laundry as soon as I got in the house. I also drained inches of water out of the pool from downpours last night.I did about 6 boards and I think it still needs a palm sander to go over it all. Fingers crossed the siding guy can give me a deal. I have no idea what it costs; we haven’t sided anything in 30+ years.
That’s it. We’re headed out to dinner at 5 with another couple. Tomorrow I have a follow up on my shoulder. I’ve been doing PT at home and I think I’ve avoided getting a cortisone shot.Intolight, ((hugs)) to you in treatment.
taco, glad your knee is healing well!
Carol, it sounds like you’re doing well.
Chris, I’m passing on your info for ancestry.
Betrayal, you’re busy as always.Anyone I’ve missed, apologies, I didn’t take notes. Good wishes to all!
3 -
Cindy, I hope you get a real good deal for siding in a fire red or orange for the side of that garage. Maybe alternating strips?
I have been having urine tests positive for blood lately. X-ray found an opacity on one kidney. They now want to do an ultrasound. Some kind of stones or other. Jolly time.

Even though people may be well known, they hold in their hearts the emotions of a simple person for the moments that are the most important of those we know on earth: birth, marriage and death.
1 -
Cindy, I like Chris's suggestion for colored siding facing your neighbors. LOL.
Intolight, good to have you check in. You definitely "belong."
What a great birthday gathering for your dh, Betrayal.
Today I'm meeting MN friend Judy for lunch in Park Rapids. We met Judy and Ron at the farmers market when they were vendors, and their tent was behind ours. Judy recently got really bad news when she had a small growth removed from her uterus. It was positive for cancer. She will have a hysterectomy and testing for lymph node involvement. I'm encouraging her to hope for a good outcome. Knowing a cancer survivor has been good for her. She will have her surgery at Mayo.
Happy Tuesday to all.
2 -
Following along but I haven’t taken notes so my apologies if I miss anyone.
Intolight - I hope your treatment day went okay. Sending hugs your way
Cindy - I second (or third) Chris’s suggestion for red/orange stripes of siding on the garage wall facing your neighbors. The uglier, the better. Scraping the charred siding must have been quite the workout.
Taco - glad the knee is getting better. I’m impressed you can walk two miles!
Carole - we are also having cooler weather in the Chicago area. I’m much happier with the cooler weather but severe storms are forecasted for tomorrow. Last week storms moved through our area but we just got rain. Others that were south and north of us got tornadoes and significant wind damage. Today is high 60’s and I have all the windows open to air out the house.
Betrayal - what a fantastic birthday celebration for DH. I’m sure he knows how much he is loved.
Weekend before last was busy. On Saturday I drove 5 hours RT to Wisconsin for my grandniece’s bridal shower. My side of the family is very small so while there were 30 women in attendance, only my nephew’s wife and I were from my niece’s side of the family. I also know that my niece and her younger daughter do not care for large gatherings (same with me) and that hosting this gathering was difficult. The bride to be is very extroverted and has lots of friends. All this to say that it was a lovely shower. On Sunday, DH and I drove 6 hours RT to a different part of Wisconsin for a family get together on his side of the family. This was the first time in three years that all five siblings were together. One of his nephew’s is moving to England this week for a three year stay as part of his job. I know DH’s sister is sad that her only grandchild will be thousand of miles away.
Both gatherings were wonderful but I was exhausted. We’ve cancelled our March 2027 cruise from Buenos Aires to Barcelona as we are focusing more on land trips right now. I’d still like to do this cruise but we feel we have a longer time horizon for cruises and that we should do the more difficult land trips now. Maybe we will go back to SE Asia but that is dependent on airfares and the world.
Yesterday we went strawberry picking. A perfect day - 70, sunny and light breeze. We picked two quarts as it’s only the 2 of us and I’m not a baker. We did freeze some of the berries. We may return to this farm next month for blueberry picking.
Waving ‘hello’.4 -
Harley - don't get too excited about the milage - I did it over a day, not all at once. PT said I could try golfing next week but my PT appointments are the same time as golf. I may go hit a few balls on Sunday when it looks like the course will be pretty deserted.
IntotheLight - Of course we want you here and I'm sending big hugs for your journey.
Cindy - sounds as if you had one really good day and I'm sure lots of laughs. I have a friend who would love to organize a girls trip to northern AZ but I won't leave Ken overnight. He forgets to take his medicine.
Chis - holding you close too. What more?
Spending lots of time adding pictures to my Storyworth book. I'd like to get it done for our 60th anniversary in August but may need to settle for Ken's birthday in late Sept. If you've never done anything like this, I highly recommend it. It's been very cathartic for me and I think Ken and Debbie will enjoy it. I think some of the questions are somewhat "dumb" - like my favorite TV shows when we were children - but I've elaborated a lot in other areas. Found some great pictures of us when we were young.
Diamondbacks game is one and I will find my Kindle.

I am older than many of you "older folks" .
I was diagnosed May 2026 at the age of 74.
6 -
Jerimanelle, you are younger than some of us "older" folks. I'm 83. Welcome to our forum. Feel free to share whatever you want to share. We would love to get to know you.
I made a blunder in returning items to Amazon and am a bit worried. I received four items in a box but was instructed to return them in separate boxes. Instead I put the items in the same box with one of the labels and the four printed barcodes inside the box. I got an email about the item that evidently was identified in the label but haven't gotten any further communication. The total cost of the four items was over $300.
It's cool and cloudy this morning, 55 degrees, with an increasing chance of showers in the afternoon. DH is planning to go to the golf course. The men in the men's league are diehards. Rain doesn't stop them from golfing unless it's a downpour with thunder and lightning. I will probably go to the gym. Today is Wednesday Weigh day. Currently there are only three of us on that forum.
Hi to everyone.

The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique.

Did some laundry today and have 2 loads for tomorrow. Finally got a good night's sleep over sleepless night before. I don't know why they happen and do try to figure out why they happen, but so far unable to determine cause. I just know they are happening more frequently now.
Tomorrow night I will get together with some nursing school friends at one's house about 30 minutes from here. She has moved since the last one I was able to attend so I am looking forward to seeing her new home and to see her again. She sold her condo and moved in with a daughter. Her daughter's ex sold the house she had been living in so she had to find a new place and my friend decided to go with her. It's probably a wise move since she was widowed and living alone. I'm looking forward to seeing who all will be there. It seems the group shifts by who's available at the time.
The mulch I ordered from Amazon finally showed up today and the brave truck driver backed up the driveway to in front of our garage, However, the driveway slopes towards my neighbor's and trying to remove a full pallet of 80 bags of mulch with a pallet mover wasn't going to work. So DH proposed plan B which was to remove half the bags and then get the pallet off. So DH helped stack the bags in front of the one garage door and when they got it down to just 40 bags, the driver was able to maneuver the pallet around to get it off the truck. Thank goodness he was younger than the first driver was, but it took great effort on his part and he was sweating by the time he finished I offered him cold bottled water to drink and one to go and he took both. I did tip him because he worked so hard to finally accomplish a mulch delivery which was tried last Wednesday when it wasn't on the truck, rescheduled for Friday and they were a "no-show" and then another reschedule for Monday when again they were a "no-show" . Seems they are subcontractors and 2 of their trucks broke their gate lifts trying to delivery these pallets which weigh about 2,400 lb. They were down to their last truck according to the company, but the truck they came with today was not one of theirs. I'm just happy it finally got here so I can start to prep the areas that need to be mulched. I don't have enough bags to do all the areas, but it is a start.
Finally was able to make an appointment to get ears pierced again. After having the torn lobes repaired I had to wait for 3 months for them to heal, then I didn't want to deal with newly pierced ears while in Ireland, and the appointments she had offered were in conflict with my social schedule. We don't do much socializing, but both times she offered, I was busy. She's going on vacation so I have an appointment the weekend she returns. I miss wearing earrings and had even bought 4 pairs while in Ireland. So once these heal and I can insert my own, I'll be happy and will be able to wear earrings on our October cruise.
Will seem funny to have to pay someone to do this. When we were student nurse's we "borrowed" 18 gauge needles from the hospital and using alcohol cotton balls and ice cubes for numbing, pierced each other's ears. Of course, we bought gold studs to use while they healed. We weren't allowed to wear earrings, even studs, in clinical so we covered them with band-aids. I am sure our instructors realized what we were doing since if they looked they would have been able to see the earring backs, but they luckily chose to ignore it. I even pierced 2 of my brothers ears. One classmate fainted after her first ear, so the student piercing her ear quickly pierced the other, thinking she might change her mind once she regained consciousness. I didn't like the popping sensation caused by an earlobe that was somewhat frozen so I just told them to skip the ice for the second ear. Surprisingly we were pretty accurate with making sure they were even. She uses a needle that inserts the earring at the time of piercing so hopefully she can get them even, too.
Last few days have been warm, but humidity has been low. DH has been puttering around the yard doing some sprucing up down by the road. He'll move the mulch for me and I'll do the actual placement so we both get a workout. DS and DGS are going to come help, but with this weekend being Father's day I don't think it will be this weekend. DGS is only 15 so getting a summer job has not proven to be happening and he needs money for when they go to the shore in July. He'll come work for me to get some.
DGD has a fracture on a growth plate, is in a boot and cannot go to the shore because she can't go in a pool or in the ocean. She is a really good swimmer now and was looking forward to this vacation. If she goes, she will just make life miserable for everyone else, so DS might just stay home with her. I would take her, but she would be bored and would drive me crazy with her whining. I could take her for a day, but not for the full week.
Chris, in my thoughts as you face this challenge.
Taco, so glad you are able to resume golf. Sorry you can't go on the girl's trip.
harley07, where would you like to go in Asia next? I would have loved to see Angkor Wat in Cambodia, but we waited too long to travel to Asia. The air flight is too long for me now. Our longest flights were to South Africa, Egypt, Kenya and Tanzania, but they were shorter that one to Asia. I do not have any regrets about my African trips, they were well worth it.
jerimanelle, welcome to this forum and I encourage you to reach out to us with any questions you have and any support you need.
Hope everyone had a great day and waving "hi" to everyone.

To make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health, our circumstances. We must try. I didn't always know this, and am happy I lived long enough to find it out.
1 -
Taco, there is more.
Management told me that they begged and pleaded for upper mangement to make an exception for my dog. Evidently all the crack-down has to do with untrained dogs who threaten people. Tippy behaves well and responds well to a promise of a treat as we get close to a tricky situation. I saw one woman leaving sad, I suspect she was given bad news. I am sad for her, but that dog is out of control. My brother complains no end about the dog problem in the community where he is a manger.
I am having PT twice a week for the results of a bad sprain 40 years ago. Tippy and I are taking short frequent walks while I concentrate walking heel-to-toe. Also riding 40 miles nearly every week to the dentist for dentures. My driver is a good, dependable friend.
Along with that and the kidney issue I am going to have an appointment with a rheumatologist for hopefully a diagnosis of Sjogren's disease, which explains my hearing loss and a few other things. Then hopefully get back to the audiologist and decent HA's. And maybe there is a way to prevent or slow down the loss. I am getting lost in conversations with multiple people more and more. And more dependent on lip-reading.
I have begun knitting a large project. It is a scarf in a fisherman's rib stitch that is very bouncy and thick and warm. I am using the continental method with yarn feeding through the fingers of the left hand. Much easier on the hands and easier when you are doing a rib stitch. My driver to the dental appointments has always knit continental, Norwegian variant. Norwegian entails picking the yarn off the left index finger, I tend to pick it off the left middle finger. A friend of hers taught her how to knit. The friend was from a primarily Norwegian community in the area.
Betrayal, good you are going to be able to get your ears re-pierced. I pierced my own when I was sixteen. They are a bit out of line, but serviceable. More sensitive nowadays, I just got stainless steel wires, and I am going to get rid of some cheap posts.
Harley, I'll bet you went past Tomah on your trips through Wisconsin.
Carole, I will be praying for your friend Judy.

It is official. She found a fluffy little thing waving around in the pee. Anchored on a thin stalk to my bladder wall. Surgery July 2.
3 -
Chris - I’m glad you can get the bladder surgery relatively quickly and hope that you have a good outcome. I admire your persistence in getting your health issues resolved. I hope that you are able to get the hearing issue under control and get good hearing aids. We lose so much when we cannot communicate. Good on you for continuing the knitting.
Betrayal - Angor Wat is certainly intriguing but there is not much else I’m interested in Cambodia. Given the heat and humidity in SE Asia I need to plan a trip that allows sufficient time in air conditioned places or I will wilt. We are looking into Singapore and Malaysia as I have a desire to visit the Malaysian side of Borneo to see wild orangutans. We would fly to Singapore for almost a week and then onto Borneo where we have a lodge reserved for three nights. The best viewing is at lodges deeper in the forest than what we have booked but given heat/humidity/rain and my wonky knee I don’t think I can do the longer trips which are deeper in the forest and require muddy, uneven hiking to see wildlife and several hours on a small fishing boat to get to the lodges. We would also visit Penang/Georgetown and Langkawi in Malaysia. So a mix of cities, nature, wildlife, food and a beach vacation at the end in Langkawi. None of this is set in stone and will very much depends on airfares and world events. I have not booked the airfare yet and won’t for awhile.Waving ‘hi’ to all.

jerimanelle - welcome to the place none of us wanted to be. "Older" is very flexible. I just turned 80, diagnosed at 70. As you will notice, we are here to support and encourage you but we also talk about issues specific to our ages - grandchildren instead of children, problems of aging, etc. The "child" I talk about is 56. We try to stay away from politics and religion. There are other threads for that on BC.
One of the hardest things is waiting for a plan. I urge you to look for other threads that are specific to your diagnosis and treatment, especially in the beginning. I still am in touch occasionally with my "starting chemo Feb. 2017 group."
Chris - I keep hoping you will one day be able to tell us everything is, at least, under control. How great you have a friend to be your driver.
Thinking of all of you who are dealing with weather issues - some days I think I'm lucky that it's 110 degrees instead of watching water overrun its banks. Be safe.
5 -
Wish we lived close, so we can all be friends and enjoy life together. I see many nature and animal lovers here, you guys are so great.
4 -
Good morning. I have been running around all over the place. I have been the substitute teach for 2 yoga classes and doing all my usual activities.
Chris - hoping all goes well with the bladder issues.
Betrayal - love the birds
justforher, welcome
jerimanelle, welcome
Cindy - the cedar siding on my cabin is painted red
Hi, to all those I missed harley, intothelight,

The happiness of this life depends less on what befalls you than the way in which you take it.

Gathering of former nursing school classmates was fun last night. One came late because she thought the get together was today. There were only 6 of us because several others had scheduling conflicts and one bowed out last minute due to being involved with organizing the paramedical support for a team participating in FIFA.
We had such a good time talking about school days and the antics we got up to due to restrictive curfews and class demands. Our class was 125 strong when we started and attrition began around Christmas the first year as students were invited to leave due to poor grades, behavioral issues and not liking the program. I think by the time we graduated 3 years later, the class was less than 70. We ranged in age from the two youngest being 16 to older students who were second career people. We have lost many over the years. Many of our clinical instructors were ex-military and treated us as if we were in the military rather than student nurses. They barked orders at us, dismissed any independent thought and would ignore questions we raised. One, even when we were graduate nurses and licensed, acted like we were still her students and yelled at us, but finally we could answer back.
I was really tired when I got home because the directions I got online underestimated the mileage and the travel time. I actually called my DD to see if I was traveling in the right direction and fortunately she knew exactly where I was on the back roads. She told me to continue on the road and gave me some pointers for places I would pass. I prefer to have places I can recognize to direct me than road names. I took a different route home because the back road wasn't heavily traveled and I wanted some company on the road.
Work at 4 am with such intense pain in my right hip and I could barely weight bare on it as I made my way to and from the bathroom. It took me quite awhile to find a comfortable position and the pain was radiating to make it even worse. I had sat on a very high bar stool at my friend's house and must have jarred it when I got off, causing a flare up of my bursitis. I've never had pain like that before with the bursitis and with osteopenia, I was concerned I had broken my hip. It was still tender when I woke this morning , but I was able to get downstairs with no issues.
I wanted to weed the area where the junipers are in preparation for some mulch. There weren't as many weeds as I expected and it looks like I won't have to put more than 10-12 bags of mulch in the area. However, I discovered that one of the junipers is tipping over and needs to be righted. Given it's height we will need DS, DGD, DSIL and DH and I to pull it upright and secure it so it remains upright. I don't know why or how it tipped and its not easy to see from the patio. We'll secure it with some guide wires and hope for the best.
I also wanted to weed under the Japanese maple and to trim back the branches that are rubbing against the bay window. It didn't take long to do. I also clipped off some dead branches. Next weeding area is the spot where I transplanted ferns 2 years ago and they have filled in nicely. If I weed it, there will be more room for fern spread, and eventually I hope to not have to weed it at all. I will put some mulch in this area to suppress the weeds.
Weather was nice today, warm, not too humid and there was a nice breeze. I hope the weekend stays the same so I can get more gardening done.
harley07, your plans for your trip sound great. I wanted to take a cruise that covered that area, but vetoed it when we learned how long the flight was from CA.
Chris, I am hoping this last finding is the last you have for awhile. You deserve a break from all your medical ailments that have cropped up lately. Glad you have a friend who is willing to drive you to get your hearing addressed. You will feel better once you can hear what you have been missing. Now if I could only get DH to wear his hearing aids, he misses so much and I get tired of repeating myself.
petite1, you have been quite busy lately. I am impressed that you teach yoga classes. I loved yoga.
justforher, a negative PET scan is great news. Do you have a treatment plan yet? Thanks for chiming in and I agree, it would be nice to meet face to face.
Taco1946, interesting to hear how you are doing with your family history book. I hope Debbie appreciates what you are doing. I work on genealogy in spurts and just made a plan of what is next for me, now I just need to find time to execute it and decide which family I start with. My cousin and I occasionally discuss how we get distracted by chasing leads that are nothing more than "bright, shiny baubles" and unlike her, I don't want to chase down 3rd and 4th cousins and their families. I don't want a "names bank", I'd rather have a somewhat cohesive family story for each generation that I am directly descended from.
Hoping everyone had a great day and waving "hi" to everyone.

True friendship multiplies the good in life and divides its evils. Strive to have friends, for life without friends is like life on a desert island... to find one real friend in a lifetime is good fortune; to keep him is a blessing.

I noticed they removed my tiny picture. It showed as a “?” in blue as me. So I had to look back and Input out a picture of a sunset. 🤷♀️ My old beach picture I couldn’t find.
I thought I posted a few days ago, but I think I was distracted and never hit send/post.Anyway, you ladies had me laughing at the red and yellow siding for my garage! I did get an estimate for $1,800. He has no left overs, so it will be Cape Cod gray, with white aluminum caping the soffit and window trim.
After the siding is up I can get the fence taken care of. Then I’ve got a company giving me a price on driveway seal coating too. I think it’s time to do it again.
Today I ran to Lowe’s to return the 5 gallon pail of Kilz 3 primer - because with siding I won’t need it. So fortunate with using their credit card I had 365 days for a return. I checked out fencing while I was there, not impressed but figured I was there I had to look. Then I found some canna lilies on clearance. They’re lemon yellow cannas, and I grabbed 3 for $3.84 each. Once home I had to plant them. My hydrangeas aren’t looking great, so I put the cannas between and towards the back of the garden. And as I dug holes for them I realized the garden needs more mulch. Next trip, now that I’m carrying a large credit.
I also picked a ton of weeds, then went into the backyard and deadheaded more roses, and picked up green pine cones tossed down from high winds. We were under a tornado watch a few days back. Weather was whacky - sunny, black with wild winds, and some rain; on rotation all through the day. No tornado, just wind damage locally.
Once again I didn’t take notes, and I think I had to go way back to catch up.
Chris, glad you’re getting in for your bladder surgery sooner than later.
Petite, you’re super busy. I didn’t realize you taught yoga!
For all new to the group, welcome. As you’ve read we talk on just about anything.
Betrayal, it sounds like you had a nice gathering. Your hip acting up sounded painful, glad it was ok enough to get down the stairs. My swallow test results were in and read to me quickly, when I wasn’t expecting results. She mentioned 4 different things and said my dr would go over it at my follow up. Said maybe change my meds, and even said therapy for a slow swallow? (I think). Then I tried to read the results on the portal. But I can’t get in, so I had to request access. They called me to say they’d send me a link for access but report wouldn’t be there for 5 days. I still haven’t gotten the link. Need to call on Monday.
It’s late and I’m headed to bed after helping SO with baseball MLB package.Wishing all a happy Father’s Day.

Happy Father's Day. It's in the mid 50's here this morning and sunny. I have loving memories of my own father, who died in 1995. Dh has similar memories of his father.
Yesterday was a very nice day for the farmers market, sunny with mild temperatures. We were busy with some good sales, making the 9 to 1 pm time period pass pleasantly.
No plans for today.

We spent the day in the backyard. Ended up a crazy day. Here’s my pool:
I said it was “vandalized” like the reflecting pool in DC. Storms took their toll, so much pine tree debris was in it. I had to dump the DE (earth pdt in the filter) and replace it; added liquid chlorine and a bag of chlorine shock. Put the vacuum in it tonight, just got it out with help from a head lamp I put on. LOL
It’s all cleaned up, for now. I’ll put in another bag of shock tomorrow morning. The rest of the day is calling for rain. Today’s weather was perfect so I can’t complain.
I did take a break to read my book while I added water to the pool. Anyone who owns a pool knows where this is going… so I kept reading until I jumped up, having over filled the pool. Then I had to drain some water, adding work to my day. Haha!
I’m hoping you all had an enjoyable day, with less work than I had.4 -
Certain springs are tapped only when we are alone. Women need solitude in order to find again the true essence of themselves; that firm strand which will be the indispensable center of a whole web of human relationships.

Cindy, the pool looks clean and inviting.
Today I had emails from Amazon giving credit for my returns. I was charged for postage, $1 each, for the two kindle covers that were sent to the wrong address. The two kindles were to be sent to one address and the covers to a different address. I sent them all to the kindle address. Live and learn. Now I can order larger kindles. Paperwhites. The one plus for newer kindles is that they're lighter than my old one that is being phased out. DH's kindle is still working ok but when I asked him if he would like a new one, he said "Sure."
It's cool again this morning but the forecast calls for a nice day for dh to play golf. Yesterday was the first day in weeks that we sat on the deck, enjoying the outdoors. With all the weather violence around the country, I have no complaints. Today is a typical Monday for me. Gym, supermarket and Walmart with a list.
Hi to all. Hope all those undergoing treatment are progressing toward good health.
