Luna ~ Did you even tell us you were having surgery?  I must have missed it if you did.  Glad you're home and it's behind you.  Be well, and I will pray that you don't have any complications, as it sounds like that's what's happened in the past, if you've had 6 surgeries!   Sending you healing vibes & hugs ~ Deanna

"Benefit" may mean a toxic, horrible quality of life treatment reduced tumor size but had no survival benefit. Or it may mean the treatment had a four month survival benefit.....

So true...Why do others not see this?

I hope you continue to feel better and better Luna.

As for Crunchy and Merilee, know you are not alone and lots of love is comin at cha!

Luna - you should have let us know you were having surgery! We would have sent you a wave of healing vibes and NO complications! Well, you're covered now. Be well and heal quickly!

Thanks so much for your thoughts for my husband.

Today is the day for Crunchy and Merilee. Let the vibes begin!

Getting my day started here in California, and praying for Merilee (and Julia for Friday) was at the top of my list.  Wishing you both peace going into surgery, the most competent surgeons, and pain-free recovery ~   Deanna

Lord, we are all praying for our sister Merilee. I pray that you are with her giving her peace about her surgery and the outcome. I pray that you guide the surgeons hands so that all cancer is taken out. I pray for a very speedy recovery. I know that she is in good hands with you Lord!!

    AMEN

I just came across this 2008 story someone posted on the Stage IV forum, where, not surprisingly, it and the poster are getting trashed.  Anyway, I thought it was worth reposting the link here:

Thanks everyone for your prayers and healing thoughts.  I didn't mention it ahead of time because it was a minor surgery compared to ones requiring biopsies and diagnosis.  It is past two.  Hope all went well!!!!!

Deanna-Is the lecture free or will there be a charge? I read his book. There is a lot of good information in it. I live in Orange County so, maybe we could carpool. I kinda hate going to hospitals now though. Is it on the UCLA campus?

Hi, makingway ~  Yes, it's @ UCLA.  No charge, but parking in any of the on-campus lots is $11.  They're usually in the medical center building, but this time it's somewhere else on campus, possibly because they're expecting a larger than usual crowd.  I'm out in the desert, so carpooling won't work for me.  But let's keep in touch on it, and if you go, we can meet there.  Not sure if I'd put the date in my original post, but I'll find the invititation and PM the information to you.  It's in the evening.    Deanna

Healing thoughts to you -  Merilee, Crunchy and Luna. When I picture prayer and good thoughts in my mind, the are like sound waves .... so please imagine them coming to you like your favorite song.

My last chemo was on Friday. I nearly didin't make it. Because I was having some lack of faith in this drug, plus depression and just plain wearines with the SE's  - I almost several times.

But  stuck it out and today I rewarded myself for making it... OK I'm a freak, I know most people can't relate to this but please remember I am a homesteader......

...my present to me is a pretty little jersey heifer named Ginger.  She comes home this Sunday.   I have wanted a family milk cow for as long as I can remember.

Julia and Merilee - So glad to see your posts and to know all went well.

Pill - I think a milk cow is super cool ! Wouldn't fit in a NYC apt but still. Reminds me of the time my sister went to her friends; thought she had the ugliest dog ever, and then noticed Purina goat chow in the kitchen. Hey, we're dumb city girls !

So glad to see that Merillee and Julia have gotten through the day and are on the mend. I know how relieved I was when surgery was over. Get lots of rest!

Luna and Pill-glad to see you two have both turned a corner too.

    LET THE HEALING BEGIN!

Oh, and Pill, I am so envious that you have your own cow! I had to give up dairy because I was so afaid of all the junk in it, but it would be great to have a grass fed, hormone free heifer. The only problem is, I am not sure I would like getting up early to do the milking. Wish you lived next door!

Fairy--amazing article. Thanks for posting. Great info and study sourcing. Where did you find it? I like to note the source and also so I can go read more. I did however read in the "Goddess" book that promotes health thru diet (forget the author's name) that there was a study done on genistein supplements that actually caused cancer to grow. That's why apparently there is the soy controversy, despite all the good things about soy. I haven't looked it up recently (I did when I read the book) but wanted to throw that out there as an FYI.

I don't eat too much soy just in case but do sometimes eat edamame or tofu. I think in food it is ok (vs supplements) b/c it's hard to overdo--although I know  there is so much "snuck" into our food!

Did some searching--here's one study from 2000 that says genistein may have both inhibitory and growth effects on cancer: (great....)

OK maybe this is the study from 2006:

    Happy Turkey Day, all!
