Just reading about watermelon seeds.  Apparently in one cup you get an DV of 139% of magnesium, 77% zinc, 44% iron and 61% protein.  Apparently they are good dried and in some asian markets you can find them roasted - not sure if the roasting would remove some of the goods though.

    here is an article:

it does seem ridiculously high.  i just sent the link to my gf who is battling blood pressure, now Im convinced she thinks im trying to make her fat - she said no way.  but..

..half of the fat is mono or poly fat.  almonds have 824 calories and 73 grams of fat but only 28% is saturated vs watermelons 53% making almonds a better option. I may eat the seeds a couple times a week vs my nuts that i have every day (fyi - ive lost five lbs since the last i was weighed - 3 weeks ago). http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/nut-and-seed-products/3087/2

About 50% of the watermelon seed is oil, thus making it high in calories and fat. One cup of dried watermelon seeds have 602 calories and 79% of the daily recommended value of total fat. 53% of the fat is saturated. The other percentage consists of monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats, including omega-6 fatty acids. These unsaturated fats benefit one's health by reducing cholesterol levels and decreasing high blood pressure.

    PS73-

Thanks for that info. Maybe I will try to dry some seeds in my dehydrator.

I love watermelon and I used to make watermelon juice - rind, seeds, and all - delicious - it is very good for keeping your system alkaline - but terrible in terms of raising insulin levels, so that is another thing I don't do any more since BC.

Nan, you wrote: "....You can grind all vitamins/supplements in a clean coffee grinder and put them in a smoothie..." I am glad you told me that: I was tired of swallowing those supplements (though I was determined to "soldier on." I am not sure I would be able to keep up with all this swallowing if I had to swallow medicine instead of supplements).

Thanks PurpleMe.  I posted the info hoping that some on this thread would know more about it than I and may have found more definitive info than I have been able to find.

I really like my Avalon Co Q 10 cream but have gone back and forth about whether or not to use it.  I have been using organic coconut oil as much as I can instead of the Lubriderm I have used by the bucket load for 40 years.  And that is working fine but sometimes I really just want something else for my face.  Besides, I just really liked the Avalon cream's effect on my skin.

With our society becoming more and more estrogen dominant, saying lavender and tee tree oil are in all the baby products so they must be okay doesn't really cut it though.

I was hoping someone might have seen some proof that they aren't estrogenic even though I realize that the study of three boys hardly proves the point the other way either.

Calcium D-Glucarate.....I have been taking 250 - 500 mg of Calcium D-Glucarate.  This was just a guess taking one or two tablets from the bottle.  I just saw an article somewhere (can't find it now) that I think said I should take 500 mg a day.

Appreciate advice on this.  I'm just winging it here.

    Thank you!

    Luna 5 -

I had the compound pharamcist, who is pretty savvy with BC patients, tell me that BC patients should take between 1500-3000mg a day of Calcium d-glucarate. Currently I am taking 500mg three times a day with meals.

    Patty-

I know what you mean about the pills. This does not mean it is the definitive word. Maybe others will have input from their research or doctors.

I was taking 3000mg a day and my functional med doc had me cut back to 1500mg for now, as  he said if you take too much it can affect osteoporosis and I am at risk for that.

    Hey ladies,

I just wanted to share my good news. I had surgery yesterday - bilateral mastectomy and my lymph nodes are all normal!!  I have the expanders in and they are about the same size as I was going in... as I was always barely a B. I am on cloud nine at the moment.

I tried the dilaudid but it just made me sick and dizzy so I am now on percocets and valium. Working much better.

I am having hyperbaric oxygen treatment in a few hours to help with healing. They were able to spare my nipples. I feel so blessed right now. There is free wifi in my hospital which has made connecting with family and friends that much easier.

    Love and laughter to all!

Thank you so much Merilee!! I saw that you are taking DIM. What if any are the side effects from that. I know the oncologists want me to take Tamoxifen but the side effects scare the crap out of me!!

For anyone willing to say a prayer for me....I am having my exchange surgery Monday.  Not sure of the exact time because there are a couple scheduled before mine.  This is my seventh surgery in 9 1/2 months (not counting the 2 oral surgeries)  Please pray that all goes well and that I don't get any more infections or complications!

    Thank you!

TT-glad to see you are over one more major hurdle. Full steam ahead.

Luna-did you have your amalgams removed??? That is the last hurdle for me. I am trying to figure out a way to pay for it. It is so expensive, and my dental insurance only covers a pittance. Where you able to somehow get it done with regular health insurance, since having this toxic mercury leeching into our systems is the same as having a daily dose of poison? I can't wait to get this junk out of my mouth. You will be in our prayer vigil tomorrow.
