Seaotter - glad that your friend has been doing well after her kidney exploded - WOW! I told my husband your story. At this point we just don't know the extent of things. If it hasn't spread, the prognosis' that I find are all very good. Things don't look as good if it has spread, which I suppose is true of any cancer. He, of course, is at the point where he is expecting to hear the worst. I know exactly how he feels because I went through that in the beginning too. And, I am just starting to feel like I am on a good track and will come through my BC. Now, I have to encourage him to stay positive and not let himself go there without knowing what we are dealing with. It is so much easier to say it than do it. We all know that feeling, right?!
Viv - I do actually have an electromagnetic widget. I just have to remember where I put it and dig it out. I had bought one way back to test a house we were thinking of buying at the time (different husband!) Hopefully I still have it. I will go look right now!

Do you feel anything when you take resveratrol?
0 -
I wouldn't say I feel anything directly as a result of taking it, although in general I feel better than I ever have. But, I am also doing ALOT of things differently now than I ever have - diet, supplements, IV C infusions. It is hard to say which individual part of my regimen has which particular effect. The overall effect is great and I will guess that everything in my regimen is contributing to that.

I know what you mean, I feel better than I ever have as well

Although I'm not an official member, and don't want to be. While I was surfing this site I came across you guys. And I must say I relly can't believe that other members whatever there opinions would benegative towards you. Cap some of what your doing mut be pretty darn hard to start, at least the first few weeks and because its voluntary, you have to b bery stron woman.
Woman they I tip my hat to, if I wore one. Anyway I would love to be part of something like this.
Do you give a member a boot up the butt if they need it, (like a pep-motivation post). Anyway I would want to feel I was doing everything, and look at Jack lalane, and Mrs Lalane. I have an eighty-fie yr old man that put in my well, no bs e looks 65, said he has wine 2-3 glasses a week a lot of fruits and veggies and no fightig in his home, besides that he eats meat and carbs. But I know he benifited from that lifestyle.
I feel good knowing your here.

Deni, I'm sorry to hear about your husband. I'd be afraid of everything in the house too. I believe that there can be such a thing as sick houses. I lived in a home that in a certain area of the living room, my TV picture would become strange. When I moved the TV to another area, it was fine. I worried about it enough to move out. I figured it was an electromagnetic field that couldn't be healthy.
I was just reading something else for all of us. We might not want to be eating prunes:

I was glad to just read a more balanced article about Breast Cancer Awareness Month:
http://www.foodconsumer.org/newsite/Nutrition/4093.html
Looks like it was written several months ago, but it appears today as a headline story on Google News' home page. Love the last paragraph of the article, and so glad that Google picked it up to highlight this month! Deanna

Thanks Deanna - yes, it is great to see that prevention is being recognized more and more in the mainstream. But, we still have a long way to go! Thanks for sharing that article.
Rosemary44- thanks for your wishes. We don't know if we are being paranoid about the house. But, we don't care. We have actually been planning to sell for a while and this has lit a 3-alarm fire under our butts!
Saw my ND last week and he said everything looks great. It has been 7 months since my dx and I finally feel really comfortable with my regimen. It now feels natural. I have been reduced from 2 IV C infusions a week to only one per week. That is nice for the pocketbook, especially with my husband's battle starting and our not yet knowing what that will involve. I am getting him to start reading all of the nutrition books that I have read. He has already altered his diet to some extent since my dx, but is going to get more strict. For me, I don't miss any of my old ways and feel great. I wish I cared about prevention before all of this!
Happy Sunday!

Oh yeah and have done a number of castor oil compresses for detoxing my liver and we purchased a far infrared sauna after some research and have been using it for the last 3 weeks an love it!! Not completely oraganic in diet because it is diff. to find in every store and also can't do completely raw and be happy but do pretty darn well. Try to make green shakes whenever possible- aiming for once a day or every other day.

Here's what I'm taking: DIM, CoQ10, D3, E, B complex, A., C, Milk Thistle, Melatonin, and a multi. I take 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night...never have been that good at swallowing pills. The integrative doctor who I saw suggeted an organic vegan diet with fish allowed, only whole grains. I am doing my best to follow it, but I still have coffee with a little milk in it in the morning because I like my morning coffee.

Merilee ~ My current regimen looks like this: I3C, Tumeric/Cucumin, Green Tea Extract, D3, Iodoral, Potassium, Stress Formula B-Complex, Biotin, COQ10, EPA/Fish Oils, Calcium Complex, Vitamin E with Selenium, Sustained Release Vitamin C, Alfalfa, and Metanx (a B-complex RX).
I'm still undecided about Progesterone. Lorraine's most recent posts are extremely thought-provoking and persuasive, but I want to hold off until I am thoroughly clear in my own mind about it. Reading Dr. Lee's book now. Deanna

Oh boy, this is a long list but here goes: IV C, B17 (laetrile), Artemisinin, Milk Thistle, Fractionated Pectin, Iodoral, BrocColinate, Chlorella, Multi, Fish Oil, Super Curcumin, D3-5000 IU, Selenium, Resveratin, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, CoQ10, Essaic Tea, OncoMar, Maitake extract. I also take Vessel Care for high homocysteine levels, Migra-Clear Ultra for migraine profolaxis, and Kudzu for hormone balancing (genistein from kudzu is an isoflavone (like those in soy) that blocks estrogen receptors on cells to help balance hormones). I also drink green smoothies in the morning and fresh vegetable juice in the afternoon. Wheatgrass juice a few times a week. I try to eat as much raw as possible but have settled into a very clean, primarily raw diet. I don't eat sugar, processed foods, dairy or meat. I eat fish a couple of times per week. Whole grains such as brown rice, quinoa, millet, amaranth, etc. Limited soy and some flax oil. I think that covers everything!0

. Ouch! Dumping a suspected problem on someone else ?
Caveat emptor, I guess. I see the good 'ole American way is alive and well...

Here are most of the supplements that I am on: D3 5000 IU, C; E; CoQ10-100; B complex, Fish oil, A 10000, Milk Thistle, selenium (one brazil nut a day); DIM; low dose multi which has minerals; one asperin daily (full strength 325); and probably somethings that I have left out. These were worked out with the help of my internist and my integrative doctor.
My integrative doctor has me on a diet that could be described as a low soy vegan diet with fish. But I still have my morning coffee (with 2 tablespoons of milk) because I really like my morning coffee and life has to have some pleasure in it too!! I don't feel healther or better but for me the good news is that I am losing weight and not hungry....in just 2 months I have lost 7 pounds of the 30 pounds that I put on during chemo!!!
Have a nice day all!

Shepard,
I think it is unfair to assume that we are "dumping our problem onto someone else." I have mentioned previously that if there is a problem where we live, it was a problem that occurred during our remodeling. The walls were ripped out and we don't know if any old asbestos or other chemicals were released in the process. At the time, we were breathing in all of the crap and now we both have cancer. Judge if you will, but you don't know anything about us. And, all we know is that we are both sick and we are looking for a fresh start. We would like a master bath, which we don't have now, a full second floor, which we don't have now because we live in a cape cod style house, and so on and so on. We have tested the house for all environmental dangers, and it has tested fine - so I would hardly call this "dumping our problem on someone else." Really unfair statement.

Calypso: where do you get your green tea extract?
0 -
deni, I'm so impressed with your supplements and great diet. How often do you get the vitamin C treatments? I really hope you kick some major cancer butt, and your dh too. I was just reading about Norman Cousins who was dx'd with a peculiar form a arthritis back in the 60s and he sought out vitamin C treatments also with good success.
I'm currently reading Dr Horner's book Waking the Warrior Goddess, and I see she recommends turmeric also. Calypso, anyone else taking it, do you have any comments on how you like it, benefits you've noticed, shopping tips?

Mandy,
I get my Green Tea from the pharmacy at Cancer Treatment Center of America, they send it out to me when I run out. But I don't imagine their brand is any better than others, maybe. It's a 275 per capsule dose, and I take 2 a day.
I also order my Curcumin from them, it's CNCA brand. Only noticed that two capsules caused slight stomachache, so went to 1 capsule a day for now.
I swear though, that the Green Tea extract caused me to drop some weight. That's a good thing!

Althea - I was doing IV C infusions 2x per week. That is the protocol my ND recommends for the first 4 months of treatments. I was just reduced to 1x per week - this will go on for 4 months. It then decreases every four months. Total treatment time is 2 years. The goal is to kick some major cancer butt!
This is the curcumin (tumeric) I take. It supposedly has to be combined with pepper to maximize absorption. This brand has the pepper built in. I get mine through my ND but I see here at Vitacost.com it actually costs less!

I just bought some tumeric from Penzey's spices and since it is so pure, I am thinking of making my own capsules, then I can add the pepper to it. Has anyone made their own caps? I also got some cinnamon from them and might try the same thing.

My Osteopath was telling me that cinnamon can be problematic over time (toxic like), and she didn't want me to take too much or for too long, something like this.
Has anyone else heard this? I used to take but cut back and then stopped. But it is very good for sugar metabolism, which is very important. so I miss it.
If anybody has any info on this, let me know....
Spring.
