Here's something that might help with the teeth. When I went to the dentist two times ago, the hygienist recommended I use these little brushes in between my teeth to promote healthier gums, get rid of plaque etc. I know there are different brands; I use 'DenTek', it's in the aisle with all the dental stuff at Walmart & I'm sure other stores too. I've used them once a day since it was suggested & at my recent appointment, the hygienist ( a different girl) raved about what beautiful gums I had (which no one's done before, apparently it worked!). So it may be worth checking out for others too.

Suzie, have a great time in Vegas!!! Sure hope you go home with lots of money! Do I have to speak to my Dr before taking glucosomine...maybe that will help my leg pain and hip pain! I feel like an old lady and going up a flight a stairs is a killer..coming down is ok but up is just awful...I too hate to complain but.....

    hugs and prayers

The first month of Arimidex is wild with the soaking wet hot flashes - I would change my sleep shirt before I even went to the bathroom.  Into the second month, waaaaayyyy less and by the third month...warm flushes and still getting a few of those.  Not everyone will get all the se's and God bless if you are not one of them...it is no indication of it working or not - just you are lucky if you don't get them!

At seven months in, all is very tolerable and from the 6 month scan - seems to working pretty well as the onc is keeping me on it for another 6 months....yippeee!  I dread the day when it stops working and I have to get used to a whole new set of se's with another AL.  LOL

    Embrace the Day!

    Sharon,

You said "from the 6 month scan - seems to be working pretty well".  What exactly does that mean.  How do you (or the onc) know it is working....what scan?

Teeth again; I think it's the chemo that makes them sensitive. Try Biotene toothpaste and mouthwash.

I think Lowrider means her metastatic tumors have not shown growth in the scans that a lot of stage 4 women have routinely. Most of us I or IIs don't have those routine scans ( CT or Pet).

    Yeah for the good reports.

Patoo - are you still doing the cherry juice?

I'm sure we are all happy to have some warm weather finally. It has been a long winter. Have a great time in LV. Mowed my yard for the second time already.

Joy, yes, but it was only sporadically.  Actually just started more regularly again.  Mix it with tonic water and haven't been getting the leg and foot cramps lately.

    Notself...wahoooo!

Candle, the dark cherry juice, high in antioxidants and is supposed to relieve joint pain and arthritis.

Notself, my DS says it tastes like a bad wine but I like it (he doesn't like wine anyhow!)

Anyone know if tonic water is equivalent to seltzer?  Seltzer has no calories or sugar.

    Patoo,

I don't think they are equivalent... tonic water has quinine in it, doesn't it? Seltzer does not.

Tonic has 90 calories per 8 oz. serving. It has carb/sugar and sodium. Seltzer has 0 calories, no sugar, no sodium, no quinine. BUT!! it helps me with my cramps/charlie horses as I have them sooo bad...the quinine in the tonic is what helps.

Patoo...where do I get the cherry juice..I want to try it.

Tonic water will prevent malaria as well as cure cramps.  It's the quinine.   This is an interesting article from Wiki on quinine.

You can get diet tonic water at the grocery store. Sue, given the choice; I'd add gin, a twist of lime and a green olive or two....would probably also take care of the joint pain & charlie horses (for awhile anyway Laughing),

    Hi Ladies,

Below is a link to a newspaper article from a Toronto Newspaper.  The Ontario Government tabled new legislation - one part of which requires generic drug prices be set at 25% of the name brand.

Just thought you might find this a hoot!

Suzie, if you win big and we all land up in Vegas; we can try out various combinations of 'liquids to combine with tonic water' between the shows and casino runs!!!!!

    Hey sisters,

In the past few weeks the arthritis symptoms have increased dramatically.  I talked to onc and he is going to give me 2 week vacation from armidex and try another.  I have almost a 90 day supply which I would be happy to give to anyone who might be struggling with the cost of arimidex. xo

You are all funny with the posts about what should be the 2nd ingredient in the "tonic" cocktail!  Or, maybe the "tonic" is the 2nd ingredient and the vodka or gin the first!  Ruth, you're right - who would care about aches after a couple of those.

The juice can be pricey - about $15.00 in the health food store.  But that's the concentrate so can last a few of weeks.  I did manage to find some in the supermarket's health food aisle but it's not the concentrate.  It was about $6. a bottle and lasts about a week if you still mix it with the tonic (which I do).  The concentrate you only have to add 2 ounces to 6 ozs of tonic (or water or any juice of your choice).  Also, it's the 'Black' or 'Dark" Cherry juice.

Dark Cherry Juice is recommended as a cure for Gout which means it is probably good for kidney stones.

Look around...I found sugar free tonic.  It works. It has been such a huge relief to know that when my legs are absolutely killing me in the middle of the night I can drink a glass of tonic and within about ten to twenty minutes I can feel the pain subsiding.

My onc prescribed me my first bottle of Arimidex. I am to start in 3 weeks after I heal up from my surgery. I sure hope I don't get the SE's . I already ache from arthritis, have had it for years and I'm only 47. It will be an adventure, hopefully it won't bother me at all!Tongue out
