    Designer,

even better, as I age, I cannot wear the same pants that I did at the same weight. Life is funny that way "cough"

    Foots,

Yes, the popsicle sticks would be half stained with the food coloring if each flavor...

Designermom - I remember my sister ironing her hair with her hair at the top of her crown rolled in orange juice cans. I think you all were pretty brilliant using the air from the vacume cleaner.

How about those little paraffin bottles filled with syrup?  We would bite off the top, drink it, then chew the paraffin like gum.

I still remember 10 cent pay phones too!

I used to keep dimes in my penny loafers instead of pennies in case I needed to make an emergency phone call.

Going down to visit my grandparents in Florida over Christmas break.  Both sets of grandparents lived in the same building.  My sister and I would stay with one set of grandparents and our parents with the other set for half the week, then we'd switch for the second half.  It was wonderful!

Wow'd I'd remember that slide too if I had ever gone! How totally magical - love that.

You know I never have been to a drive in movie - supposedly there is one in town but haven't figured out where yet. sounds fun!

When I have taken my kids to toy stores it just never seems as wonderful as what I remembered as a child and have wondered if later my kids will have great memories of such things or are they too jaded by TV. I think they just see things differently and not it a good way I'm sorry to say.

Nancy, I remember going to the drive-in in pajamas too! My parents figured we'd fall asleep while they watched. They were 2/3 right - both my sisters would fall asleep, I'd watch the movie with them until the end.

Of course, that was at a time when you didn't worry about what was in the movie & could you let your kid see it.

    P.S. I'm also a NYC girl!
