I am so glad, so many of you are enjoying this thread. I really thought with all of the downside of BC, we needed a little travel back in time, to relive some happy memories, that is why I started it!
NANCY....I love the drive in movies!! We still have one in my town, and a few in my area! I made it a point to take my kids every summer at least once. We did the same thing, in the pj's...and the back of the station wagon! Those nights were such great memories for me! I have been to SAO Schwartz...I think the slide is gone. : ( How much fun that had to be! I love NYC. I work for an airline, so I love to take, even a day trip there!
STANZIE....you have to find that drive in this summer and GO!!! I have to agree with you...this is a different time and place....I think it's sad that so many children will not experience the simple things that we did!
KEEP THE MEMORIES COMING!!

my3girls: I can just see it and it seems so nice... waking up and smelling fresh cut grass, running through the sprinkler what I would give to be doing that right now. My girlfriend and I used to pretend the Bee Gees were our boyfriends... it was a fight for Barry or Andy ( poor Robin) LOL

I remember sleeping late in the summer waking up with the aroma of coffee perking. The sound, perk, perk, perk, was so comforting and the smell so delicious. We have definitely lost something with the coffee makers now a days.
And watching fireworks on the fourth of July
And playing kick the bucket after dark
And roasting marshmallows
Thanks for bringing those memories back.

I remember being a little girl born and raised in the city (Philadelphia), and these are the things we did........no ipods, no video games, no Wii, no cell phones, just us and the good outdoors.............
Hopscotch, Kitty in the Corner, Buck, Buck, Freeze Tag, Red Rover, Double Dutch, Roller Skating, Skates that you put on your shoes, and tightened them with a skate key........Penny Candy....Tastykake's when they were 7 cents, and you got 3 in a pack.........Your swimming pool was the garden hose......Everyone ate dinner together.........Families all lived in the same town........Saturday matinee's, Catching lightning bugs.....Punks to keep the mosquitoes away in the summer............
Guess I better stop now, I'm getting lonesome for the good old days.
Guess I better

I know!!! I so worry about all the technology our kids are overwhelmed with..... Teenagers are even harder to try and get away from technology. Trying to remember what all I did as a teenager??
OK, so what are punks? I could use something for mosquitoes!

Stanzie............I'm from Pa., actually there is a very thick weed that grows in the swamps called "cat tails"........you pick them, dry them out, and when they are dry you can light them, and they put off a smoke that keeps the mosquito's away. They are thick in size.
Now that is the old fashion version of a Punk........The newer ones are very narrow, stiff, and have a wood like stem....You can buy them in a pack, light them, and the do the same thing, only our version was "cost free"....Leave it to the older generation to find a cheaper way.

I remember my Dad coming home from work. I'd be outside playing and I would watch him park his car and I'd run and he'd catch me and raise me in the air..then he gave me a dime for a fudge pop.
Love and miss my Dad!!!

Hey, Foots, I also went to GS camp! Singing around the campfire is hokey to some people but I loved it. I think it's what started my love of singing.
