Some of my favorite memories are of floating the Buffalo River in NW Arkansas. We did it alot throughout my life. I loved playing Roller Derby on my skates. I loved the western TV shows on after school, like The Big Valley, Lancer, etc. I was horse-crazy and could pass the entire day playing like I was Audra Barkley and wore split skirts to ride in and drank a sasparilla at the saloon. And the books to read as a child? Nancy Drew, The Bobsy Twins, Trixie Belden, and The Archies comic books, Richie Rich comic books. One of my favorite Disney movies was "The Trouble with Angels" with Hayley Mills. It was a much simpler life then for sure.

If I was to pick my favorite memory it would be getting tickled with my Mom. We would get amused over some think really silly or stupid and we would laugh so hard no sound would come out and we could hardly breathe. It would make my sister mad cause she could never figure why we were laughing so hard. I miss her every day.
As far as a Holiday memory- at Christmas time it was going to see the (real) reindeer and Santa Claus and Riding the Pink Pig! If you are not from Atlanta I know that sounds weird but Rich's department store had the Pink Pig at Christmas time - google it - They brought it back but it isn't near the same. The old one was on the roof of the store and went around the giant Christmas tree with tremendous ornaments. And one year the weather was so bad they built the track around the roof of the store ceiling so you rode inside. This is before you went to shop in a store only for children and run by elves! It was Grand!0 -
Christmas carols on a 33rpm record, scratches and all (Mormon Tabernacle Choir), hot chocolate with milk/cocoa/sugar (no instant packets in the microwave), and the creche... my mother's pieces from a 1930's dime store. She'd get one every year as a little girl, spending treasured pennies... and my father's deep, deep voice...0 -
Crawling up in the recliner with my dad on Saturday night and watching tv with him after my little sister had to go to bed. One of the shows we watched was The Sonny and Cher Show.
I used to love our camping trips in the mountains. I loved being in nature, hiking, playing in the rivers and steams and riding my bike all over the camp grounds. I always made lots of new friends on each trip. It was great fun!0 -
