I just bought some Chai Tea last night and am drinking it now.  Yummy, have never had it before, but I like spicy hot tea.

Oakley, 13 years ago when I had B9 Atypical Hyperplasia the BS gave me the option of watching it or having a lumpectomy.  I asked him if I was his wife what would he want her to do and he said surgery, so I went with surgery.  My BS this time around was a female and she had no problem expressing her opinion to me about what she would do ift it were her. So I had another lumpectomy

    Hello, everyone

This is my first post on this thread.  The cider and hot chocolate sound delicious.  I tried green tea for the first time recently at the suggestion of the dietician in my Onc's office and found I like it, so make mine green tea.

I know what you mean about the same abbreviation meaning different things...PE can also mean physical exam, and SX can mean surgery or symptoms and these 2 always confuse me.

I guess in those cases you need to analyze what  the topic of the sentence is about.

Meece - Tá cístí leis sultanas agus shilíní agus braoin uisce beatha déanta agam cosúil leis an císte sa pictúir agus tá cúpla 'cherry logs' déanta, dhéanaim mar bronntanais iad.

What am I missing about the comics!!!

Eph - I have two words for you - google translate (or 14 years of the Irish educational system!!)

Did anyone PM Patoo or would that be too intrusive?

It's been very cold here the past week (20 degrees), snow etc and now there's been a slight thaw and it's freezing again so now we have ice - whoops!!  We are not use to this kind of weather - no chains etc so cars stranded and having to walk to mom's - it happened again last January but that was the worst we had had in generations and now it's happening again!!  I still have no Christmas shopping done!!

Ainm, I had to Google about the grapes, but the cakes sound yummy and festive.  Is that a special whiskey?  (I have never tried any, so don't even know what flavour it would add).

Ainm, lig tú an cat as an mála!

Actually I didn't start using Google until lately.

It started raining tonight, we need it, and perfect timing, I did all the outdoor decorating yesterday.

Okay, all.  I'm here.  Been back from Nicaragua for 3 weeks but just continued to stay off the computer as it takes on a life of its own.  Was also under the weather a few times these last 3 weeks although I'm not calling it the flu, so just resting when not involved with seasonal "things" and occasionally lurking.

Missions trip was awesome as usual.  We flew into the capital of Managua and then a van took us 2 hours up into the mountains.  No physical work this trip, just playing with kids for a week.  We prayed with/for them, did face paintings, made balloon animals, performed little skits and passed out candy, toothbrushes, beanie babies, etc..  Each morning and each afternoon we went to a different village, called out at doorways (since most shacks have no doors) to let the people know we were gathering near a local church, which was usually just a dirt floor with a roof, and to come down for fun and treats.  I wish we could have done a soup kitchen as many don't get to eat every day.

Most of the shacks are lean-tos with no doors or windows and dirt floors.  Electricity is hit-miss and there is none in most places after 5pm.  Interestingly many have TV's, a very few had satellite dishes on top of metal roofs.  Where the signal came from I have no clue.   We also went into some schools (church groups are allowed although it's a Marxist government).  Children usually only go up to 5th grade in the villages.  If they can go to one of the cities for higher education, they are "qualified" to be a teacher if they finish high school.   Generally though the people in these villages have no hope whatsoever as there is nothing to aspire towards.

Puts things so much into perspective as we are truly blessed in this country.  BC or any chronic illness/disease goes untreated as there are no medical facilities - none, for the villagers.  You live with it and just pass on.  So sad.   Maybe this is why I had to stay away from these boards a little.   Understand, this does not negate the trials that my sisters here undergo, but it's hard to get back to "our" reality immediately on returning.

I did miss you all, however, and will try to come on more often although it's a busy time of year right now.

    We missed you, Patoo.

That trip sounds awesome.  I remember going on vacation to the Dominican Republic and how it made me really feel bad that I was enjoying such a vacation and the people were living in cardboard houses, literally!

I am so glad that you haven't been away for an even more serious reason.  Good to see your smiling face!

Meece, I remember that also a few years back on vacation in Jamaica.  I remember the cardboard houses we passed on the way to our resort.   I think it's the same in many places.

Twin, the missions field is right outside your door.  This season let's really look around us and notice the lonely, elderly, depressed and reach out to someone.  Many only need a kind word.

    Night friends.

I used to attend a church that had signs as you left the parking lot.  They said "You are now entering your mission field".

Yes, some of the children at a school where we mininstered.  I also attended a church with that sign as you exited the parking lot (and you thought I made up that saying all by myself!)

    Just a quick nighty-night ladies.

We sing this in church sometimes

Here Am I (By Mercy Me)

On the other side of the world
She stands on the ocean shore
    Gazing at the heavens
She wonders, is there something more
Never been told the name of Jesus
    She turns and walks away
    What a shame [oh yeahh]

Just across the street in your hometown
    Leaving from his nine-to-five
    Gazing down the road
He wonders, is this all there is to life
Never been told the name of Jesus
    He continues on his way
    What a shame [oh yeahh]

    Whom shall I send?
    Who will go for me?
To the ends of the earth
Who will rise up for their King
    Here am I, send me
    Here am I, send me

    Whether foreign land or neighbors
    Everyone's the same
    Searching for the answers
    That lie within your name
I wanna proclaim the love of Jesus
In all I do and say, Unashamed

    Whom shall I send?
    Who will go for me?
To the ends of the earth
Who will rise up for their King
    Here am I, send me
    Here am I, send me

How beautiful are feet of those who bring good news
    Proclaiming peace and your salvation

    Whom shall I send
    Who will go for me
To the ends of the earth
Who will rise up for their King
    Here am I, send me
    Here am I, send me
    Here am I, send me

Hey just got home from my 2nd job-found out tonight I'm supposed to work everynight thru Thurs the 23rd (I've been working this week since Tuesday) I can do the shifts, but I can't work on the 23rd cause of a prior committment.  Anyway, I feel like I'm missing out on all my buddies lives!

Have some cocoa & a couple cookies for me-whoever's up! I'm hitting the rack-my regular job gets me up at 6AM everyday
