inolia, I am glad you did not have any node involvment, that is a whole different story when that happens.  I hope all goes well for  you and you have a good speedy recovery.

Inolia-Welcome to our group! I am glad you found us and you will find a lot of support here as you enter your journey. I am glad yours was caught early, your DX is very similar to mine and I didn't have to do chemo either. Good luck to you!

Pam-There are massages my rad onc tought me to do, and the PT shows me stuff I can do at home. But the massages they give me stimulate all of the lymph nodes in my neck and chest area. They massage the ones in my neck and move onto my upper chest area, then to my arm. We do some light stretching and range of motion activities, then we go to the gym for a little more range of motion work. I did not have a sentinal node biopsy I had sentinal node axillary dissection. I had the 4 sentinal node injections on the day of surgery, then during surgery he removed the nodes sent them to pathology and had the negative node report while I was still on the operating table! Pretty impressive! So, when he met my husband after surgery, he could report to him with certainty that I had no node involvement, and my husband was so relieved as you can imagine. the recovery from the nodes has been tough and I wonder if I will ever get full feeling back in my arm. But I am getting used to it.

I am glad you didn't hurt yourself when you fell :) That is a fear of mine too, just everyday things that you never really worried about now you have to have that worry.

Take care and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Good morning everyone, I  hope everyone had a great weekend.

I am still feeling good after my TX on Friday.  I just want it to stay that way, but will probably start feeling the affects today.  I was tired yesterday and went to be at 9:00, however as you can see I am up bright an early this morning, so I don't think I really got more sleep.

Juanelle ~ so glad you are still feeling good.  I hope your SE's stay to a minimum.  I am glad you have this week off and can stay away from the germs, as well as hopefully get some extra rest !  I go this afternoon for TX #2.  I am dreading it.  But it will mean 2 down - 6 more to go.

    Good morning Juanelle,

Isn't it the hardest thing to willingly receive a drug that you know is going to make you feel sick?  And then wait two or three days for it to hit!  Bless you and all who are going through this.  How is your appetite?  Can you eat normally?

I hope you are not the designated chef for Thanksgiving.  If you ever had a "get out of jail free" card... this  is it!

Thinking of everyone on this journey.

Alicia, I like your picture.  Is that a wig or your real hair...My wig looks a lot like that...The day I picked up my wig a lady asked me where I got my hair done.  She was looking for a new hairdresser.  I told her it was a wig.  She was surprised.  I was excited.

Hi Michele ~ yes that is my wiggy. and yes I love your pic too, it looks REAL !

Pam ~ I am designated chef for Thanksgiving.  Is it bad to be hoping for an infection or a bad side effect from this weeks chemo?!

    Have a good day GIRLS!

alicia, good luck with your tx.  Maybe, this one wont be so bad as the last one.  I am glad that I don't have to work this week.  They are so good to me.  I am blessed to have such a good place to work.

pam, yes is is hard to face the fact that we have drugs put in us that have the potential to make us so sick.  It is a crazy deal, but we seem to be willing to do it to get those extra years we need.  At least that is the way I am, I don't want to ever do this again.  I am going to have Thanksgiving at my house, I am centrally located and everyone likes to come here, but I am not doing all the cooking this time.  I will cook the turkey, ham and sweet potatoes, then it is up to everyone else to bring something.  We always have too much food, so we will not starve.  My birthday is the day before Thanksgiving also, so there is more reason for me not to cook.

michele, you do look so different in your wig, vs bald, but it really is a pretty wig. You really look great. I am glad the lady asked you where you got you haircut, it had to make you feel good about the wig.

Thinking of the wigs...I bought mine at a salon and it cost me $350...then a few days later I saw the exact on on line for $95....Thank goodness my insurance is paying for that rippoff.  Now at least I know what to look for in a wig and I will buy it on line next time...I am shopping on ebay, they have great prices.

How do you get your insurance to pay for a wig? I am starting the process of looking but thought I had to pay out-of-pocket.

Michele and Alicia- Both of you look beautiful in your new do's! But Michele I have to agree with Alicia, you looked good bald also :)

When all of this first started, that is one of the first things I asked my husband, was if he would like me bald and he was so supportive. He said "of course I think you would be so hot!" He is too sweet, I am a lucky gal!

Juanelle- Hope you are feeling well still and getting plenty of rest.

Alicia-Hope your TX goes well for you today and your SE's are kept to a minimum.

Here's wishing all of you ladies a fantastic day!

    Hugs to all!

I think a husband who thinks you are hot when bald is a keeper !  What a nice thing to say.  Are the wigs comfortable or hot?  Do you have to wear some kind of liner?  I would think your scalp would be sensitive.  I have unruly frizzy hair so a wig would definitely be an improvement most any day of the week... but I will settle as I know it has got to be really difficult to loose your hair.   Just one more of the parade of indignities BC imposes on us :(

Well, at least if you are hosting Thanksgiving make the others do the clean up!  I did half of my grocery shopping today, all the nonperishable stuff.  Will wait and finish up next week... the bill will be less of a shock this way.  Can't find canned spiced peaches so I am in the middle of making my own from a web recipe.... using regular canned peaches.  Hope they come near what I remember.  Dh and I are probably the only ones who will eat them anyway.

    Best to everyone.

Thanks Jen,  I don't mind being bald...it sure makes getting ready in the morning a lot easier...I think my husband has a thing for bald chick as well.  Thank goodness.  Although I find it hard to feel sexy with my bald head, one boob, my PICC line and my mangie nether region....What a sight...I'll never be able to do porn again...LOLLaughing

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.  Treatment # 2 down !  Just feeling a bit drunk/dizzy.  But I am ok ~

Michele... you are so funny, at least you were porn worthy..  your day will come again.

Hubby says he will kiss my bald head.  We shall see~~  He says at least mine will grow back. (his has disappeared on the crown of his head)  Wink

Pam ~ I think the wig is itchy but I only wore mine 1 time with my boy cut under it.  I bought liners, not sure of the whole thing.  Embrace your unruly hair sister !

    Hugs all around !!

    Hooray for Alicia... 1/4 done!

Jen, I am trying to not sleep on my op'd side and notice my arm just feels better if I can stay off of that side.  Also doing more stretches and some massage.  Thanks for planting the idea,

Hello Wonderful Women!  Just posting quickly to say hello.  Week 7 post chemo is going well.  Will know by end of week if radiation is next or if a BMX will be necessary.  Yipes.  Managing to stay calm through it all.  It's been good to read up on each of you.  What a great group of ladies you all are - take good care this week, OK?  Much Love, Mary

Hi Ladies I hope all of you had a great day.

Juanelle -  I hope you continue to feel well with little or no side effects from your chemo.

Alicia -  I hope you are doing well as well after your txt #2.

Micheleboots - just in case I need to have Chemo and purchase a wig where did you find one at?  I do know that my insurance will pay for one and cover up to 80% of the cost.

I went back to work today and I really enjoyed not being stuck in the house with nothing to do but rest.  I was tired and hurt a little when I got home but nothing major and I worked a full day.  I  also found out that my boss did not use any of my vacation time while I was off and had surgery.  He paid me for the time I was off like I was working.  I have a great boss and a great job.  I am truly blessed!!  I still haven't heard from the Onc that is suppose to call and make me an appt to see him.  I'm not sure how long I should wait for the office to call me?  I'm not really a patient person, but I also don't know if the surgeons office has even had a chance to contact them yet about making me an appt.

    Hugs and Blessings

Mimi,  I bought my wig at a wig salon here in Ottawa.  I paid about $350 for it, then saw it on line for $95.  I can send you all the info if you like so you can order one.  Let me know.

Alicia, I was never porn worthy.  But at least in my mind I can pretend...Keeps me laughing, keeps me sane.

Changed my picture to my Hot Biker Chick photo...It is a great little doo-rag type scarf.  They can be found at www.designwraps.com I bought mine at a shop here.  It is nice for around the house.  It has a butterfly design on the front.  I thought it was cute, and different.

    Later ladies..

    Dear Renee,

Hope you are healing fine from your surgery. You should  ideally search for an oncologist independent from the surgeon. This way you will get an unbiased assessment of the surgical procedure and the associated pathology report. Chemo is started at least 4 weeks after surgery. Use this time to find a good oncologist. Ideally one at a teaching hospital. Make an appointment with them whether or not the surgeon's office makes one for you with an oncologist they typically send people to.

    Thanks for the information ladies!

Micheleboots - I would definitely appreciate it if you would send me the information as to where I could purchase the wig.  Just PM me.  By the way, you can call me Renee, my grandchildren call me Mimi.  LOL!

Juanelle ~ how are you feeling after TX# 2.  Thinking of you....

Renee ~ glad your boss is treating you right !  Try not to over do it...

Micheleboots ~ I love the scarf !!!  YOU have the best bald shaped head.  Your tiny and just look adorable.  THAT is it now I am done giving you compliments your head will swell and not fit in your WIG!  :)

I feel crappy,  low fever (body temp)  probably low white count.  Treatment ran late last night my veins wouldn't cooperate.  I go for Neulasta shot and fill of my pancakes this am.

    Hi all,

Hope I qualify for the class of 09. You sound like a wonderful group!

I was diagnosed with IDC in 12/08 due to a routine mammogram.  Had a mast 2/09, no node involvement, immediate reconstruction with Alloderm and silicone implant, went on Arimidex and had a reduction and lift on other side for symmetry 11/09.  Had a clean mammogram prior to reduction, but was dx with a new primary IDC on the reduction side last week.  The Onc says it is very early - it wouldn't have been found if it wouln't have been for the pathology review of the tissue taken during the reduction.  So, guess I will go with a mast on that side - just as I was bonding with my new reduced and lifted boob!  Hind sight is 20/20 - should have had the bilat to begin with, but I am so blessed that both my cancers were found early.

I didn't realize that reduction surgery can mess up the lyphatic drainage system in the breast and make mapping for sentinel lymph node biopsy difficult if not impossible.  The BS said if they could not map a sentinel node, they would do a axillary lymph node dissection (take all nodes).  I said, "Wait a minute - I need more information".  Yesterday, the Onc said taking all nodes would be "overkill".  She said if the nodes will not "light up" on mapping to have no nodes taken because the cancer is so early and not aggresive.  If determined that it was needed - I could go with rads to axilla.  I like that idea much better!  Anyone out there with this situation??
