Sugar77- almost done!!! Yep, chemo sent me into  "chemopause" and I'm a few mos. ahead of you in treatment. Hasn't come back so figure it's done. Hot flashes were rough for a while but Vit. E helped. Your GP may want you to get a bone scan.

Cottage Dreams sounds great. Hope you have a blast and get to go somewhere fab.

    Hello Ladies-

Went to the doc on Friday, she prescribed me pain 800mg of motrin and antibiotics. Not sure why, I think she was concentrating more on the cramping I was experiencing, and not so much the dizziness. As of yesterday I was still having dizzy spells. It is not constant, and not so bad that I fall over. It is just like a wave that comes over me and I have to re-balance for a second. I think I just lost too much blood on my period, or maybe it is the Tamox in my system. I don't know if I will ever know. Today, so far has not been bad, but it is still early.

Michele-congrats on getting the cottage to get away! That sounds amazing and you totally deserve it :)

Juanelle-Good to hear from you! Take care of those aching muscles.

Love and hugs to you all

Paulding, I also went through chemopause.  Have you had your hormones tested?  How old are you?  I'm not sure if mine will come back or not since I'm 37 years old.  I wonder if a hormone test would be worth it?  My onc said sometimes it can take up to a year for the period to come back.

Sherri, you're getting there!  I'm also on my last week of treatment (I think that's where you are?), with 5 boosts to go before I'm completely finished.  My skin held up really well; just a little pinkness under the arm and breast, and a little peeling under my arm and areola.  I hope the boosts don't make it any worse.

Alicia, good luck in class!  Hope it's not too boring.

Juanelle, you're such a sweetheart!  Here's to a break from the long hours coming up soon.  Wow, you are working HARD.  I don't think I could do that just yet.  But in 1 week I start my apprenticeship, so I better get ready!

Anyone's husband being an ass?  Mine sure is.  He seems to think that I'm whining when I tell him that I'm tired or that my arm hurts.  He also keeps saying, it's almost over!, as if when rads finishes, there is no more treatment.  Heck, I'm having an oophorectomy in a few months!  Since when is surgery nothing?  And he keeps saying that I don't have cancer anymore, that the treatment means I beat cancer.  While I agree that I beat it this time around, he doesn't seem to understand the concept that breast cancer is never cured, that the fear of recurrence or mets is a constant threat.  I can only hope that he becomes more sensitive, but I'm not terribly optimistic.

    Blessings to all of you!

txstardust-I understand the whole-"your finished treatment, so you're all better." problem. In fact I gave a speech at my daughters college where I was introduced as a survivor. Survivor? Really? It's like some kinda limbo. Yes I've done what I can and continue to do what I can, but it could come back at anytime. Being triple neg. brings that threat up even higher.

Jburke1-Mom is on Tamox too and also has problems with dizziness. She can't do the treadmill well because of it.

I am 47 but my OB GYN didn't expect me to start menopause until I was close to 60. It runs in our family and I was a late bloomer. Since Chemopause she doesn't expect "it" to return, which is fine with me but is treating me for the same problems that post menopause. At first I felt badly. I wasn't mentally prepared I guess, but now I am fine with it. In fact the medicine that I am taking for bone loss prevention has given me the best finger nails I have ever had in my lifeTongue out

Hi Everyone,  I have been following the following through the Triple Negative Forum.  I could only wish for my husband to try  to win ME a makeover.  I haven't been able to make it link (or have I??), but I'm hoping you can cut and paste to get to the site. She has recently fallen behind on votes and the contest ends on April 22nd. Sorry if any feel this is inappropriate. Embarassed

    Hello everyone!

I haven't posted on this thread in a while and I read as quickly as I could through all the posts.

For txsstardust about hormone test: just like you, I'm in my thirties (33), and I'm chemopaused. My periods stopped in Oct. 09 after the first chemo and haven't come back yet. I recently got the FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) test done and it showed that I was not menopaused. Yeah !! However my onc. thinks that this does not mean anything, all he cares about is when my periods come back. He is more of a "I'll believe it when I see it" kind of man...

I also recently got the CYP2D6 test done and it showed that I'm a good Tamoxifen metabolizer. Anyone else got this test done?

    Jen,

Way back on my 40th birthday (when I was still having very heavy periods) the girls I worked with gave me some vitamins with iron as a joke. I took them and it made a HUGE difference in how I felt! A few months later some tests showed I was very anemic and I had a hysterectomy to solve the problem... kind of draconian but it worked.  Not recommending the surgery but you might look in to the vitamins.

    Cyber hugs.

    Hi Friends -

Michelle - great news about the cottage.  Happy re-do to you!

There is a lot of old lady talk here and you should all be happy to know that - NO - you are not ancient.  Those creaking bones and crabby muscles WILL calm down in a few months.  Good golly I could hardly move for a while, but it got better.  Around month 6 pfc, you should be feeling some relief.

Did any of you read the article in the Wall Street Journal about Tamoxifen and Evista?  Very interesting.  It says Tamoxifen is still the best at knocking down the recurrence rate, but Evista is at least an option for women who cannot tolerate Tamoxifen.

Love and healing hugs to you all.  XO, Mary

A big Texas Hello to everyone.  I am home early today, because I went to see my Med Onc for my 6 weeks check up for Arimidex.  All  is well and I don't have to go back for 6 months.  She couldn't believe how my hair was doing and how good I was feeling and how much weight I have gained.  OMG, if  I don't stop eating everything in site I will weigh, well I don't know, but  I have got to do something.

Pam, I  laughed when I read your post that I should go to Dollar General to buy the candy instead of picking it up.  Well, I did go to DG before the parade and did buy him some candy.  The last time I was at a ;parade with Carson, he wouldn't pick anything up but Tootsie Roll Pops, so I went and bought him some.  So that didn't help me.

Michele, have fun on that vacation, I am sure you are  ready for one.  I know I am and it wont be soon enough.

Sherri, 2 more treatments and you are finished with that part of the journey.  You have done well and I hope you continue to heal and never have to look back at this part.

Jen, I just hate to have dizzy spells, I haven't had one in a long time, but I know how you feel.  Sending you a big Hug to feel better.

Shelby, all husbands can be asses.  They just don't usually recognize it.  My husband doesn't want me to talk about, if the BC ever comes back.  I am not just going to shove it under the rug and forget about it, it will always be in the back of my mind.  Don't worry you are not alone out there.

Mary, good to hear from you, hope you are doing well.

Hugs to everyone out here that I may have forgotten.

Pam - we don't have Dollar General in Canada but we have a store called Giant Tiger that's probably similar.  "GT" is usually in smaller towns and cities but we have a fairly new one here in Mississauga.

Hi everyone...tomorrow's my last zap and I'm done.  We're going out for dinner to celebrate. My daughter's happy because she gets to miss tap dance lessons tomorrow night when we go out. This is her first year of tap and she doesn't really like it anymore.  However, we told her she has to stick it out for the rest of the year, which ends next month.

Sherri, so glad you are done..it sure feels nice to finish this crazy ride...It was a lot easier to get back to normal than I thought.  Now i can go almost all day without thinking about cancer...While I was going through treatment, I couldn't get through 30 minutes without it creeping into my thoughts.

A big Aussie "Giday Mate "

JUANNELLE I like what your grand son calls you and your husband thats real cute my grand daughter calls me tita dont know how that sounds like nanna but when she started to call me that my BIL looked horrified and said don't let her call you that i said oh i dont mind it sounds cute then my husband heard her calling me tita a few times and laughed his head of i said yeh its cute ah and he being Samoan said in Samoan tita means  mens genital area's now when she calls me tita my family laugh and say "ah dick head "

JoJo's remarks makes me think that so many of us have developed physical complaints post BC treatment that our doctors say have nothing to do with BC or treatment. I did not have chemo so can't blame things on that. But I was a STRONG healthy woman before all this BC stuff. I am over a year past DX and do not have my strength back, I am shaky, stiff (arimidex probably), unsteady and do not have my enthusiasm for new big projects. It is enough that I cook and clean and do laundry. Am I just a wimp? Hats off to you girls with jobs and/or young children!

Jojo - I think I might have some arthritis in my neck. I'm only 45 as well and too young for these aches...although Monday the 26th I'll be 46.
