I am so sorry your dad is back in the hospital and things are so unknown. You have your hands full! And the financial problem with your hospital just add to the burden. Don't give up in your fight with them. My insurance denied $200 a day of my radiation fees, they considered them investigative and not proven medically necessary. I said I should have been told. It took almost six months and MANY phone calls. They kept billing me less each month and I held out for not owing any of it. They finally agreed. I kept asking if I was the only one whose insurance denied the full charge. No one would ever tell me.

Thanks Ladies for all the prayers, things just got worse they have called the family in on my dad saying things don't look good. I'm on my way to go to the hospital... only GOD can intervene now!!! I am praying for a miracle. ]

M360 ~ I am so sorry you are feeling so down about your surgery. It does truly sound like so much to bear. Don't give up on the chemo. Hopefully they will come up with a chemo-cocktail that your immune system can withstand. Just try to stay in the moment for more than that is truly out of our hands. I KNOW easier said then done. Prayers for you........
I have my 6 month check up with my breast surgeon who did my masectomy. Guess she will be feeling up my sore 3 week old implants...... I can't find it in myself to feel myself up. Too afraid I'll feel something ~

Love to all - and sorry for the ladies I missed in my list. Reading about all of you and sending good thoughts and wishes. I've jumped in the tamoxifen conga line, and it has been kind of rough. Not doing well. It has spurred on a full blown case of fibromyalgia. Just awful. Don't know if I can hang in there with it. Doc says I must. Am taking a breather for a few days, and will start on a half dose soon. Hope that will be easier. Don't know how I'll manage when it gets to be over 100 degrees here. Don't think I will be able to go outside - I'll fold like a cheap tent. Is anyone else getting started right now?

I am so sorry Tamoxifen is giving you a bad time. I am on Arimidex and exercise is what keeps me going... don't know if it helps with T also. Know you will get good advice on the Tamoxifen thread. I think being younger makes it all rougher. I hope you can find a way to stay on it and stay sane! Hurting all over is no good. My doctor recommended Aleve over other OTC pain killers... helps some. And a heating pad on really hurting places helps.

Mary - nice to hear from you and sorry Tamoxifen is causing you so much trouble.
M360 - my prayers are with you that you'll feel better and that there will be a chemo regimen that will work with your situation.
I'm done 13 of 21 rads as of today. It's actually gone faster than I thought but I will be glad when it's over. However, I do have some sense of security while in treatment because I'm triple negative and there is nothing else in terms of treatment options after this.

Good to hear from you although I'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling well with taking the Tamoxifen. I've been taking Tamoxifen since 2-3-10 and am currently on a self-imposed and probably not Onc-approved reprieve from it. I've just been feeling really achy and my legs and feet hurt, especially the heels....and the hot flashes (here goes one now!) are very draining. I stopped last week because I am scheduled for my exchange surgery on April 15th and I am afraid of blood clots....yeah, I asked my PS, and she said keep taking it. Not what I wanted to hear, so I stopped it anyway. Probably I should have called my Onc, but didn't. I have to wait 2 days to hear from them anyway and I'm just not that patient any more!
If you don't mind sharing, I was wondering about fibromyalgia....how does the diagnosing process work, like with tests, bloodwork, etc.....I hurt all over!

Psalm, I have had fibromyalgia for over 21 years. It was a secondary diagnosis after a spinal injury. Originally they check trigger points and if you have a number of trigger points that are swollen red unable to be touched etc. I was also given blood test for inflammation regarding this. I also have been given everything under the sun to treat, from spinal blocks, to Neurontin (which at 4,000mg a day still didn't help), tens machines. I found manipulative massage worked the best along with trigger point release and last year I was given Lyrica. I gained weight on it and wanted to be taken off but the doctors said I must stay with it. I took no pain meds even after mastectomy, and second opening of chest. But fibromyalgia pain at times makes me sleep with a burn apparatus so that sheets don't touch. There is a thread for women with BC and fibromyalgia.

Pam, thanks for asking...My good breast is still my good breast. The doc at the clinic where I had my mammo/US said all was good. I guess my onc will let me know more about what could cause this discharge.
Magob, I will be starting tamox soon, perhaps next week...or so...not looking forward to that...there is a thread called bottle o Tamoxifen, with lots of good info. I think for most the SEs don't last to long...like give it a couple of months.

mary, sorry to hear about the flare up. My dogs are not doing their job, we may have to trade them for cats. I started my Arimidex about 3 weeks ago and it doesn't seem to be bothering me at all. Or at least I can't tell the difference between the arthritis and the Arimidex SEs.
michele, glad you have at least one good boob. It feels good to get a good report doesn't it?

Hi Ladies,
I haven't posted here in a while as for whatever reason I keep ending up on the Stage III site, I guess I need that "comradery" whatever that may be, seeing we are all in the same situation Had my Power Port taken out today which I suppose should be a reason to celebrate, but me, being the way I am of course I am already projecting the future. For God's sake, it's a not win situation here---- you want to be done with the awful chemo, but on the other hand you want make sure you are "poisoning" any cancer that may be lingering in our bodies.
Does it ever get better? I sure hope so.

Sharon, yes indeed it does get better. I know it feels like an eternity some times, but it will come to an end. Now that treatments are over for me, I find that some days I don't think about cancer for several hours at a time...where during treatment, I was thinking of cancer almost constantly. Keep plugging along and remember we are here for you...

Psalm - fibro is usually a diagnosis of elimination, meaning that they rule out all sorts of other stuff, and then look at the cluster of symptoms and diagnose fibro. If you are just starting to feel icky because you started tamoxifen, you might want to ride it out for a while. You'd really know if you had it because the tamoxifen would magnify everything. For example, my eyes burn and contacts just pop right out due to dryness, have headaches, nausea, wound up and jittery like I've had an IV drip of expresso, weak weak weak - huffing and puffing up the stairs, and sometimes just about pass out due to heart pounding. Tightness in chest, hard to breathe. Had to go to the hospital for an x-ray because they were worried about a clot in the lung. We're talking major stuff here. Muscles and bones hurt. Balance is crappy, to the point that it helps to hold on to someone's arm if I'm going down steps. And very little sleep due to pain at night. You'd KNOW if you have fibro almost as soon as you started taking tamoxifen. I'm rooting for you - hang in there, and PM me if you want to know more.

Magob, I hear you on the heat in summer - I'm in TX too, and those 100+ days are going to be a nightmare, especially with the hot flashes I'm still experincing. Yuck!
Alicia, I hope you are feeling better, and that the PS doesn't hurt you too badly. I understand your fear of "feeling yourself up: - I just went for my gyn annual exam, and I was sure that I felt a small lump in my "good" boob. I had my gyn check it out, even though my med onc checked it just two weeks ago. I guess that fear will hang out for a while.

All was good at my check-up ~ she said where I feel tender is the edge of the implant. Too give it time to heal. I have to make a gyno appt next. (ugh I hate dr's)

Alicia - the gyno said he couldn't feel anything, and he was very thorough. I think I'm just paranoid! Good news about the checkup, hope the tenderness goes away soon.

txstardust - Sure my dads name is Billy Joe, please add him to your prayer list! By the way all my lovely ladies... he made it through a grueling surgery and was awake and able to speak (very softly) when I left the hospital. What he had was very rare, but it is not hereditary thank the Lord! It is called a Sub arachnal arterial venous fistual (hope I got that right). It was behind his right eye and they had to cut away part of his skull go in and cauterize the fistual and then cut it out stitch everything up and then put the skull back with wires and staple him up 4 hour surgery. After they did and angiogram this morning. They didn't start surgery till 3:45p.m. and it was suppose to have started at 2 p.m. He has a long recovery of 2 months ahead of him.

Oh Renee, I'm glad he made it through the surgery ok! I know he has a long road ahead, but with all the prayers and the wonderful family he has seeing him through this, he'll have lots of support along the way.
