Well, it was a failed trip to the mastectomy shop...I got there and they were about to close....at 2:00, on a Saturday.  And they close every day at 4:00...So I guess I will have to take time off work to shop...at least they have about 10,000 to pick from....I may have to take a whole day off.  And to think I shaved and waxed and lotioned up for that.  I need all the stars to aline JUST right...

Michele - weren't you going to Oshawa for the weekend?

Darn it Michele - all dressed up and nowhere to go.  Hate it when that happens.  Hope you find a cute swim suit.  If so, we insist that you wear it in a new avitar photo.

Happy Saturday, ladies.  Hope you are all having fun somewhere out there....

Michelle I agree with Mary... you must wear your new swimsuit in a new Avitar photo when you get it.  :=)  I know you will be too cute!!!

Lisa hope your garage set went well?

Juanelle how has your down time went this weekend?  Hope you enjoyed your R&R.

    Michelle,

A well placed umbrella is an essential part of beach attire :-)

Pam, you and Michelle crack me up!  But I do understand.  I still haven't put on swimsuit.  I'm going on 4 yrs without having one on or a pr. of shorts for that matter.  My legs are to "heavy" for lack of a better word.  But still dredging along on this diet and hoping I will get in some before summers end, or at least do like Pam and place an umbrella to hide what I do not want shown.  :=)  Could I walk through town with an open umbrella in hand to hide my cellulite?  Wink

     - Luh-hove the umbrella, Pam.  Very kittenish.  Is it the tx that makes you sassy, or have you always been that way?  ;)

And Michele, you look pretty darned good to me.  You're young and beautiful.  Don't you worry about those newbies - show them how it's done, sister!  Celebrate your sweet self.   XO

Well JoJo, he's already made it to first base right? LOL or is that second base. I don't follow baseball much.  My DDs have a nurse whom we call Dr. McDreamy. I don't think he's to impressed with my saggy flabby self, but he sure flirts with my daughters. (age 20 and 19)

I think it  would be hard to  get the attention of the male radiation therapists. The job must just take away all the allure of a topless female. I only had one male therapist, a young guy who was subbing for the day. Otherwise, all female staff. I liked that better, but experience has taught me I can get used to anything! Who knew?

Three out of four rad techs were male. Very professional, and helped make me feel ok about the whole thing.

I oly had one female rad tech...so I had a lot of men looking at my tata.

  • mimi1964
    mimi1964 Member Posts: 851

Well speaking of rad techs I only had one male tech the other 2 were ladies.  I never felt comfortable with the male at all, but then he was close to my age or a little older.  It probably wouldn't have mattered even though I knew he saw ladies breast everyday and did rads on them and had for yrs.  I was just uncomfortable with any man looking at my boobies and I still am.  Too bad because I have a 3 month follow up appointment with my Rad Onc tomorrow afternoon.  I can't believe it's been 3 months since I finished up my treatments!!  I don't know what he will do tomorrow?  X-ray, skin check, labs?  I don't know... Oh well I guess I will find out.  I really hate going to the doctor.  I really don't like him and dread going to see him period.  O.k. that's my complaint.  I will let you ladies know how it all goes tomorrow. Smile

Renee- at my 3 mos. follow up I saw the doctor not the tech. All they did was kind of a general check. Checked for lumps, arm pits, reflexes and such. No x-ray or images or blood drawn. This is just my experience. Hope all goes well for you. (((((Renee)))) try not to sweat it.

    Hi ladies,

I have been under the radar again this week. This time it was my dad who was in the hospital over the weekend. He started having chest pains at the grocery store on Sunday and we took him to the ER. They admitted him and did an angiogram yesterday morning. Everything looked fine. The cardiologist seems to think it was more of a muscular thing and not vascular. He also tested positive for MRSA, so we had to "suit up" when we went into his room. He is home now, and I'm relieved as we all are. My DH is doing well, he hasn't worked too hard since his debut in the hospital last week.

I also had a rad onc follow up today. He said everything looked good. I just need to be a good girl and to my arm excersises. My muscle is so tight, i don't know if it is from Rads or just not using my arm the way I used to. I am having my 2nd follow up Mammo and ultra sound in July, then I will have my 2nd MRI in September. It is so hard to believe I am coming up on a year since I was DX'd. My life has changed so much, it is unbelievable.

Reading your posts about wearing a swimming suit got me thinking. I don't know if I will even put one on this summer. We will have to see. I need ot find one that fits right and hides what I want it to hide. The only problem is that my left breast is so much bigger than my right one, even my bras don't fit me right.

Mary and Renee, I am so sorry you two are having such a hard time on the Tamox. Sending hugs your way.

Hope everyone else is having a good day!

    Hugs

Good to hear from you, Jen.  Sorry about your dad.  MRSA is not cool.  Hope he is on the mend.

Officially, I declare that you and your family have had enough.  Time for fun.  I'm ordering up a big batch of it for you right now.  For that matter, I'll order some up for all of us.

    XO, Mary

Jen - I agree with Mary, you've had your share of family issues, you DO need some fun.  I hope everyone continues to heal.

I'm leaving for a very anticipated long weekend in FL on Thursday.  I had to find a new swimsuit, since radiation and comfort food has added to my girls, and my lumpectomy/SNB scar is in the most inconvenient spot on the outside of my breast.  Karma must have been smiling on me - the first suit I picked actually fit!  This NEVER happens to me.  Now I want to see if I can find another with the same cut.  It will be good to be away for a few days.

Thank you Mary and c2will, I agree, we do need some fun :) I am so sick of hospitals! (no pun intended!)

c2will- have fun on your long weekend! You deserve the get-a-way! Good for you that you found a swim suit, I am jealous!

Saw the Rad Onc today and got a good report and he did draw a CBC and cancer marker test.  I will have the results on Friday.  I've got to call for it.  He keeps bringing up having a PET scan but I'm not too fond of having that done right now.  I have very bad veins and you have to have and I.V. contrast done.  I'm going to think about it besides don't know if my insurance would pay for it at a 100%.  Otherwise he check me for lumps and check my skin, measured my arms and got my vitals and weight... all the lovely things and asked if I was having any probs.  Of course not, other than the Tamox and he isn't the doc that prescribed it.  O.k. that's what that was like and I really didn't mind it I guess because I am not longer getting rads.  It was a good appt.  I don't have to go back till Nov. if m blood work is all o.k.

Jen ~ so sorry to hear about your dad.  I hope he gets better real soon.

Renee ~ hoping those blood tests all come back good and you get a well deserved break till NOVEMBER!

Pam ~ I am with you... very much a shy girl off of the computer !

We are off for our family cruise on Friday ~ we go to Grand Turks, and the Bahamas.  I am so excited.  I got lucky with 2 swimsuits from Landsend that sort of hide my big hole on my cancer side where my lymph nodes were removed.  My implants don't look too bad or too good.  They are OK.  Can't wait till I get nips right now they look like a blank canvas.
    Hugs to all !!!

Jen sorry about your dad, I hope he feels better soon.  By the way what is MRSA?

Alicia, have a great vacation...sorry to hear about your hairdresser.

Renee, good luck with you checkup.

I am off sick today.  I have started a cold and feel mighty yucky.  I worked yesterday and probably should have stayed home.  I need to get better for this weekend.  I am visiting my grandmother.  She lives in a nursing home.  I only hope I will get to see her.  I don't want to get anyone there sick.  I havn't seen her in 10 years.  Wish me luck.

I think MRSA is a staff infection... anyway an infection of some kind.

Alicia -- have a BLAST on your cruise!

BTW, ladies, if you ever get a yeast infection DON'T use Monistat 1 ... I learned the hard way: it BURNS (feeling better now but ugh).  I had some minor yeast infection symptoms and thought the 1 day would be enough but didn't realize it's stronger!

Hi ladies.  I haven't don't much looking around on the boards until now.   I joined this group Nov 24, 2009.  Everything moved so fast it was scary.  I was told on Tuesday it was cancer, on Wed I had a biopsy on a lymph node, CT Scan, MRI, blood work, and EKG.  On Monday chemo port put in and by Thursday my first chemo.  My tumor was huge and they didn't waste any time. It was 10 x 10cm.  I had a horrible time with chemo and ended up not being able to get the last one after the 7th one put me in the hospital for four days.  I had my unilateral mastectomy on March 29 and will be starting radiation May 17.

Hi, Abby - Nice to know you.  Glad you're with us.  How are you doing post-mastectomy? Did the chemo do a good job on the tumor?  I gotta say I admire your memory about your tests and procedures.  I only had three rounds of chemo and I can hardly remember my name!  However I do recall that chemo stank good and hard.  Hopefully, radiation will be easier.  Let us know how your'e doing, will you?

Michele, sorry you're sick.  Rest up, friend.  Hope you get to see your grandmother.

Everyone else - love and hugs.  XO, Mary
