I'm offering prayers for all of you who have prayers and petitions...

It's been a long week for me...haven't had much time to read or post and I miss being able to just "be" while I'm on this thread...

I've been able to to offer my daily rosary up for all of you and those that have prayers and petitions...

I will compiling the list of intentions for Fatima tomorrow and getting those emailed to my sister.  If anyone has any last minute intentions, prayers, petitions, etc. that they would like to include in the list, please PM and I will include them...I have the original list that mmm5 had gotten together for the our lady of Guadalupe novena and have only had about 3 other people PM me with some.

I pray you are all feeling blessed tonight....

    lovemyfamilysomuch,

    I sure can!

De Colores means "of colors" in Spanish and is meant to reflect the many colors of Christ. The song "De Colores" is a Mexican children's song taken from folklore. It is a song that is sung during a weekend retreat called a Cursillo. It is a Catholic retreat that was started back in the 1950's.  It is now a retreat that is based on spiritual renewal for many different denominations.  It starts on a Thursday and ends on a Sunday.  Many laypeople partake in the weekend and there are guest speakers, activities, and time given to pray and reflect on your life.

People who make a cursillo are called cursillistas...

I myself, just love the song too...my mom was born in Mexico and it was a song that was sung in our house growing up...it makes me happy to hear it....and makes me think of God...so I try to incorporate it when I can...

If you want to know more, you can do a search on google and get much more information. I just wanted to give you a basic idea...

    peace and prayers,

    Tori

    Laura,

Did Judy call her MD about her pain? They need to address this ASAP. We all have different pain levels, and she may not be taking enough for post surgical pain. If she has percocet and she is taking one, she needs to take 2 every four hours until she gets up and out of her pain crisis. If she is taking 2 (I am just assuming they gave her percocet) and she is not being managed, then she needs to call the surgeon's office, go in and be evaluated, and then they can change it to something else. Please have her check her temperature as well. Even though there will often be a temp elevation after surgery, she needs to be taking 10 nice deep breaths every hour. (you can ask her if they gave her an incentive spirometer.) If she is 101.5 she needs to call the MD ASAP, although I would have a lower tolerance.

If they allowed her Ibuprofen, this is very helpful as an anti-inflammatory. take with food. You can take Percocet and Ibuprofen "together." Have her check the quality of her drainage, there will be blood and sediment, then it will change over to lighter color (getting progressively lighter, then to straw color.) Tell her to minimize her arm movement, and follow discharge instructions to the letter. No lifting arm higher than shoulder. No lifting over 1 pound.

and any concerns, do not hesitate to call the surgeon. Spiking fever....E.R.

    plenty of fluids as well.

    Hi everyone,

It has been quite a while, I know I have been MIA. I had my second surgery (axillary lymph node dissection) on Nov 10 (exactly two weeks after my left mastectomy when they found one sentinel node positive). Surgery went well, but recovery was a bit difficult. I was more tired, felt weaker and often felt dizzy. I had to stop percocet/vicodin since they do not seem to agree with me. It was also harder this time because my sister who came to help us had to leave three days after my second surgery so i had to handle the little ones (two boys 4 and 3).

Anyway, pathology report came back with another positive node so all in all, i have two nodes positive out of 12. I met with the oncologist on Thursday and she recommends 6 cycles of TAC. She also mentioned the possiblity of dose dense AC x4 and then Tx4 but said she preferred TAC.

Now, I have started reading lots of things about chemo, side effects etc. and am really stressed out. I feel totally drained. But in front of my husband and my kids, I try to appear very positive and upbeat. As I am writing now, I am crying. Just feel overwhelmed.

Hope all is well with you all. For those of you who are in the DC area, there will be a retreat for people facin serious illness at the Dominican Retreat in McLean from Dec 10 to Dec 12, and it is free. They call it "a time for spiritual renewal". you can call 703 356 4243 if you are interested.

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your thoughts, kind words and especially prayers for my two surgeries.  I know I cannot come here very often, not as often as I would love to. I don't want to be a burden for my husband and I do not want my kids to see me depressed and/or tired, so I keep doing (trying to do) the usual things at home; Only difference is I am not back to work yet.

OK I will stop the whining part now, sorry about that but here is the only place I feel trusted and understood.

thank you all for being there. God bless you.

I would like to share this, a card a I received from my sister:

    "You will win this battle

You're strong like a beautiful tree in the forest...

You have experienced the winds of change and challenge, and you are still standing. Like the roots of a beautiful tree in the forest reach down into the earth, your foundation of faith and spirituality will keep you firmly planted.

When you've done all you think you can, stay determined. When you're doubtful and frustrated, don't give up. When you can't see tomorrow, just get through today.

Keep on keeping on. You will win. Don't despair. Storms and the weather made that big tree strong, and it's still standing, too, just like you.

In the quiet of your heart and mind, you may sometimes have questions.

Stay positive, and allow yourself to hope and dream, to rest and relax. Believe that all things are possible, and you will be empowered. Believe that you will win this battle !" - Donna Fargo

    Prayers,

Your Sister's card has such a beautiful message. This resonates so much with me, that I would like to archive this to our prayers thread.

And to you, God Bless You. Yes, chemo is not easy, but we all react differently. There is medicine for side effects, and if Percoet and Vicodin don't agree there are other pain medications. You may not need any at all. You do not have to experience nausea either. I know you want to be strong for your family, but I would ask you to lean on your husband. Tell him you will need him to really step in, and the blessing is he is able to right now. Things are as they are supposed to be, and I would like to think God will open up avenues for work for him when your chemo is completed. I have more to write, and am tired now, but we will hold you up Sister, and pray for you. Talk to you tomorrow, and I am praying for a host of Angels to descend all around you and your family, for protection as you fo through treatment.

    LMFSM,

The shows were on Biography channel on cable. There is going to be a series starting in the first week of December that is all about people's stories of their experiences on the other side...the clips I have seen will be very moving, very spiritual, and comforting beyond measure :)

    Paula,

I will yodel at you. My kiddo is sick, and I am having a hard time trying to take care of her. Please send blessings for her. I may try Craigslist to see if anyone has an extra bag of Iams vet formulae, skin and Coat. She was at the vets on Friday, and she is still not herself. I feel so helpless! I did restart her antibiotics, as this is the only thing that keeps the distress at bay. They won't have the new food until January...

Traci ~ I'm sooo sorry to hear that your kiddo is sick again.  Have you tried calling their Cust. Svcs 800-675-3849 and have them search which vet's office orders this product from them in the last 6 months.  Even if it's far from you, they can always do a UPS ground delivery so you don't have to drive there.  What's your dog's name? Will be praying for you both.

My DH is driving back from California in heavy rain, please pray for his safe return home also.

I also want to suggest our mid-week prayer meeting (Wed night? if there'll be one), that we also put in our intentions for them to Revise the TSA scan/enhanced pat down procedure for BC survivors.  I've read horror stories esp. for the ones that uses prothetics.  The TSA agents are not all well trained to read the scanners and it's humiliating when BC survivors had to let the agents peek at the breast forms while being worn. When is this BC reminder ever going to stop?

(sorry, part of this rant should be in another thread)...

    Paula,

You are so sweet...I have called them, and we are looking at the first week of January for shipment. They have to put it though feeding trials with dogs on site. When this first happened, I called all of the vets in the area and basically they were required to ship any back to the company. I think my best bet will be someone who has extra supply in their home, that doesn't fall under the recall product codes. Flagyl keeps some of this at bay for her, and I have to have grain free products only, and some meats she is more allergic than others. My poor sweet boo. Her name is Delilah :)

I started to read about the TSA travesty, then got wrapped up in my kiddo. I think my dog stories are more off topic than the TSA issue to be honest. This woman's experience affects us all on a certain level. I would set off an alarm with my magnets in my tissue expanders, and I don't know how I would feel about this. Even as I type this, I have feelings of not wanting to be outed against my will. I agree with everything you are saying, and I don't think many of the screening agents would have the capacity to handle individual situations in the most respectful manner. Especially men, unless they have had a loved one go through this.

Traci ~ No problem on cut/paste to the prayers thread.  I will do that today :).  Let's all think about the best time for a Wed night prayer.  I believe 6:30pm PST is good for me.  I would like to hear from others.

    Have a Blessed Sunday!
