Theresa I just learned it today. It's been amazing how our novenas have occured in time of need.

Gina - I'm sorry you're having a blue day... I know the feeling well. You're right, it's best to give it all to God. You might want to look at the Surrender Prayer in the Catholic Prayers page. Float with the troubles, like you're on a raft in the ocean.
Laura - how bizarre about the chemo affecting my gallstones! I never thought I'd say, Hooray for Chemo! It kind of makes you pause and think about what else it destroyed, if it destroyed STONES! Our Creator made our bodies so resilient.
Gracie - yes, still praying for your Mom and I'm glad you're in a better place.
Betty - happy to hear about Ava Marie.
Janet - yes, it has been a quiet week. Maybe St. Therese is asking us to be at peace this week.
Skip sent me this very interesting article by Peter Kreeft (prolific Catholic writer) on how the sea can help you pray and he talks about the importance of silence, solitude and slowing down. I hope you all enjoy it.

I especially can relate to these paragraphs:
I think the natural effect helps cause the supernatural effect. It fertilizes the soil. It's like psychoanalysis: it's not religion, but it can remove some of the obstacles to true religion, like addiction, or obsession, or paranoia, or depression. I can't pray well if I'm obsessed, and I can't pray well if I'm noisy inside. I think we are sometimes too quick to pray, too impatient with preliminaries. Every house painter knows you have to spend more time in preparation than in actual painting. And every gardener knows you have to spend more time preparing the garden than seeding it. I suspect the same is true of prayer today.
Perhaps this was not so before the Industrial Revolution. Then, we had a very different relationship with nature and with time. Time was related to the cycles of nature and life-meaningful time, time measured by real events, not by clocks. We must learn to ignore clocks and return to real time. Only then will we escape the slavery of clocks. Clocks are our real Frankenstein's monster. We made them, and now they are stronger than we are.

Theresa --what day were we supposed to complete ST Therese's Novena? I think tomorrow is the 9 day? I would like to suggest that since we just learned that ST Therese lost her own mother to breast cancer. That if the completion is tomorrow we continue until at least MN SUN which is Mothers day. And that the concentration of the last two days ---if that is what we limit it too. Be offered In respect for St Therese's Mother and perhaps our own mothers
Remember we started ST Jude novena on his feast day. Then a few weeks ago there was an intensity about praying for our moms. And then today we find about St Therese mother having the disease that has so afflicted our lives. Mothers day being Sunday.
I don't have the answer, but I dont' think we should stop until after Mothers day. Who those extra days of intentions are offered for, are the groups decision.
MY suggestion is the 2 extra days for ST Therese's mother and our own moms .
Again what ever group consensus is Namaste----sheila

Hi Sas, in days of clarity (brain wise) I see all the work I have unfinished and can not complete it, and I know tomorrow might not be so clear headed, so I get a bit overwhelmed and have to remind myself I'm not alone.

Good Morning Sweet Sisters,
I think it is a grand idea to continue the novena until Mother's Day if everyone wants to do this. This would be a very loving way to remember St. Therese's Mother as well as to remember our own Mothers. So many of us were first touched by BC with the dx of our Mothers and we are much reminded of this on Mother's Day.
Hugs and Love to All,
Sandy

St. Therese - thank you for taking my petition to our Lord. Jesus, thank you. St. Joseph, thank you for getting it started (the contract) under your Novena.
Our settlement has been approved for tomorrow!! The last "official" day of the Novena! Coincidence?? Nope.
St. Therese's parents were Secular Franciscans!
She was a cutie!

Theresa------how wonderful , A guiding hand.
The material I read about St. Therese was from the Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oaks Michigan. They have her whole life story, I then looked at wickepedia. It verified re: her mother. The story on the royal oaks site is very interesting and sequential vs all the breaks you find in wickipedia. It will take about ten minutes to read. But it is an amazing story. I'm from MI. and couldn't understand how there could be two shrines , so, decided to look.
I've thought about it all day. It wasn't an accident. We have St Peregrine, but now we have St Therese whose whole family was touched by BC. I wondered when there was a sudden need for us to pray for our mothers and mothers with children, that somehow there was a meaning yet undisclosed. Now I feel we have that meaning. I will try to get the url and put it here in and edit to make it easier. Namaste sheila
edit---have no idea why it didn't turn blue for hyperlink, but this will get you there if you care to go

Sheila - put your cursor after the "m" in .htm, then hit ENTER, and it should turn blue and hyperlink.
Traci - how are you??
Paula - how are you doing??
It's been very quiet.

Theresa congratulations on the sale of your house! The power of prayer is amazing. My grandfather had a very special devotion to the Little Flower. He always had a statue of her on his dresser and pictures of his wife who had died and some other special people to him on the statue and kissed them and prayed to St. Theresa every night. I will always remember the great faith and devotion he had. Very happy to do the novena for two more days. Very much looking forward to Mother's Day. Just letting everyone know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Looking forward to prayers tomorrow. Namaste.

Shelia. I will take our intentions up to the shrine on Weds the 11th, I leave the 12 for VB.
Theresa, Congratulations
Prayers for everyone.

Everyone Please, if you have any new intentions add them. Betty has said above will deliver them on the 11th. The importance of this we know , but we don't know in spiritual life the outcome. Each of our novenas have had unusal meanings i.e. beginnings, healing, relationships to BC.

Theresa - fabulous news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to a Catholic school k-8 with Franciscan Sisters! We had a wonderful, and gentle teaching from them.
And as we have all heard surely before, there are no coincidences, just Godincidences!

Hi I am Catholic but since being my diagnosis in October I am having a hard time talking to God or praying. I keep thinking why me. I am a good person I did not deserve this. On top of having breast cancer, BMX and now TE'S, my husband is divorcing me. I have listened to all my friends and family but it does not seem to make a difference. I am angry at God. Am I alone in this or is this normal?
0 -
identtwins - you are NOT alone in this! Please stay with us, as we are a very supportive group. I am so sorry you're going through this. We are all good people who have cancer. The sun shines on the good and the not so good, and the rain falls on the good and not so good. It's only in heaven that we'll have perfection. It is said, even though you don't feel like talking to God or praying, do it anyway. God understands human emotions. Look at Jesus. He was betrayed and left alone and only had a few brave souls next to him when he died. He is with us all the way, even when we don't feel it.
We are in the middle of a novena to St. Therese, the Little Flower. You are welcome to join us... we are extending it two more days, until Sunday night and will add your intentions. Also, beginning Friday May 13, we are starting a novena to Our Lady of Fatima and Betty will be taking our intentions to the Basilica in NY. Again, you are welcome to join us. We have a Catholics Intentions page where you can post, and I'll post the St. Therese novena again today.
AND, we have Friday evening prayers where we all come together at 10pm east coast time and pray collectively.
You are in the right place! Welcome!

Day Nine (Will continue to Sunday 5/8)
Miraculous Invocation to Saint Therese
O Glorious St. Therese, whom Almighty God has raised up to aid and inspire the human family, I implore your Miraculous Intercession. You are so powerful in obtaining every need of body and spirit from the Heart of God. Holy Mother Church proclaims you 'Prodigy of Miracles... the Greatest Saint of Modern Times.' Now I fervently beseech you to answer our petitions
[List intentions/petitions]
and to carry out your promises of spending Heaven doing good on earth...of letting fall from Heaven a Shower of Roses. Little Flower, give me your childlike faith, to see the Face of God in the people and experiences of my life, and to love God with full confidence. St. Therese, my Carmelite Sister, I will fulfill your plea 'to be made known everywhere' and I will continue to lead others to Jesus through you. Amen.
Novena Rose Prayer
O Little Therese of the Child Jesus, please pick for me a rose from the heavenly gardens and send it to me as a message of love.
O Little Flower of Jesus, ask God today to grant the favors I now place with confidence in your hands... (petitions)
St. Therese, help me to always believe as you did, in God's great love for me, so that I might imitate your "Little Way" each day.
Amen

We can say the Novena and I will post some Motherly prayers.

God our creator,
we come before You
and lift up in prayer all mothers,
grandmothers, stepmothers and mothers to be
who gave the gift of life.
We give you thanks for their presence,
talents and gifts which they share in our church,
society and world.
May all mothers know of Your loving
and gentle presence
and may they always turn towards You
in times of joy, sorrow and glory.
We ask this in Your Name.Amen.
O almighty and eternal God,
Lord of both the living and the dead,
Your tender mercy embraces all men
foreknown to be Yours by faith and a good life.
Through the intercession
of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary our Mother,
and of all the saints,
grant Your merciful pardon to all mothers for whom we pray,
whether they still are living in this world
or have departed from this flesh into the world to come.
Especially, dear Lord,
grant the requests I now make of You
for my own beloved mother.Amen
O Holy Virgin,
in the midst of all your glory,
we ask you not to forget
the sorrows of this world.
Cast a look of pity upon all
who struggle against life's difficulties,
and who cease not to feel all its bitterness.
Have pity on all who have been
separated from those they love.
Have pity on the lonely and friendless.
Pardon the weakness of our faith.
have pity on those whom we love.
O Holy Mother,
show a mother's compassion toward the sorrowful
and those who tremble under life's afflictions.
Give them hope and peace.Amen.
