    Amen!

    May Jennifer Flores rest in eternal peace! Lord Jesus, please help ease her family of the sorrow they are going through.

    Sagina, thank you for letting us know.  I will now move her name from healing prayer to the faithful departed.  BTW, is Jennifer a friend of yours or a family member (I can't recall).

    About Susan G. Komen foundation, I just read a post this morning.  "Quote" - Someone was talking about how they get so much donations and they are successful in promoting "Early Detection" but as we all know "We need them to FIND A CURE", that's where the funding should go to.  Especially the "Early Detection message" leads the public to think that "if you have early detection, you will be ok because they found the cancer early.  We know that it is not necessarily true.  IMO, that foundation needs to step up in "scientific" research now that they have generated enough "awareness".

    Namaste!

    Barb, thanks for the reminder that today is the Feast of our Sorrowful Mother.

    Let us pray to Our Lady of Sorrows :

    Mary, Mother of Sorrows, you experienced the poverty, the rejection, and the misunderstanding that was Jesus' fate.  As he hung on the cross, you stood at his side and watched him writhe in pain and knew the desolation that wrung his soul.  By his precious blood and your tears, stand at our side as we feel the pressures and pains that weigh on our lives in this world.  Be with us in trials and tribulations, and hear our special prayers for assistance........Holy Mother of God be our Mother too, today and forever. ~ Amen.

    Sagina --- We were guided by a Spirit to pray so hard for her in her last day---------I wish Squid was here she believes so much in the Angels---------MICHAEL, RAPHAEL, and GABRIEL.  I'm going to delete  a couple of messages above. Those that come here regularly, will likely understand. Those that don't understand our beliefs, would think them to weird. But all that joined in Jennifer's prayers will. Let her soul be in heaven with the help of the Angels that protected her. Blessings for us all Namaste sheila-------------edit: I changed my mind--------If giving up my life to save a young one could be done, I would do it for the same reasons that I said.

    I have to accept God's plan. I didn't nor did anyone here want to see a wonderful young person die.. Death of anyone is a loss.  We have had several over the last year. Perhaps in the near future we can do a novena for the young ones-----or all

    I come from a huge family-------I coined a phrase one time for ---The young ones, the middle ones, and the old ones. But we couldn't agree on when we crossed the line to the next group and had LOL over it.

    In nursing/medicine and psychology, they have defined ages, but until you really fit that groups profile----------you are as young as you can be.

    Mary (Mkkjd), I know how you feel as I went through watching my mom deteriorate in a matter of several days at her nursing home back in April.  After her passing I realized that she had experienced a medical miracle, we as well as many people were praying for her to experience the least amount of suffering and side effects from her disease.  Our prayers were answered and she had the minimal suffering.  Pray that you will stay strong and have faith and ask for guidance from our Lord.  Namaste!

    Good evening - I am actually here for Friday night prayers.

    Mary - we are all with you.  I lost my Mom to a brain tumor (she was a breat cancer survivor over 20 years) several years ago.  I lost my brother to pancreatic cancer.  I'll post a psalm for you tonight for prayer time.

    Psalm 116

     1 I love the LORD, for he heard my voice;
       he heard my cry for mercy.
    2 Because he turned his ear to me,
       I will call on him as long as I live.
     3 The cords of death entangled me,
       the anguish of the grave came over me;
       I was overcome by distress and sorrow.
    4 Then I called on the name of the LORD:
       "LORD, save me!"

     5 The LORD is gracious and righteous;
       our God is full of compassion.
    6 The LORD protects the unwary;
       when I was brought low, he saved me.

     7 Return to your rest, my soul,
       for the LORD has been good to you.

     8 For you, LORD, have delivered me from death,
       my eyes from tears,
       my feet from stumbling,
    9 that I may walk before the LORD
       in the land of the living.

     10 I trusted in the LORD when I said,
       "I am greatly afflicted";
    11 in my alarm I said,
       "Everyone is a liar."

     12 What shall I return to the LORD
       for all his goodness to me?

     13 I will lift up the cup of salvation
       and call on the name of the LORD.
    14 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD
       in the presence of all his people.

     15 Precious in the sight of the LORD
       is the death of his faithful servants.
    16 Truly I am your servant, LORD;
       I serve you just as my mother did;
       you have freed me from my chains.

     17 I will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to you
       and call on the name of the LORD.
    18 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD
       in the presence of all his people,
    19 in the courts of the house of the LORD-
       in your midst, Jerusalem.

       Praise the LORD.[a]

    Sweet Sisters, Thank you for your prayers for my surgery on Wednesday. Revision surgery went well but was far more extensive than I had thought it would be. I am feeling a bit better each day and hope to be feeling well in a couple of weeks.

    You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

    Mary you gave me chills.  I have many times been in the pew and knew the words were meant for me, talking to me....I enjoy now getting on line and reading the readings the week before I go to mass so I can reflect on what the readings mean to me, then I am prepared (like an exam) and everything means so much more to me....I hope you are finding what you need from Him today.

    LMFSM~so sorry to hear, prayers are with you and your family.

    I need everyone's help here for a minute too, Jennifer's family has asked me to sing at the service.  It's not a mass, but many of our songs transcend the bounds of different religion.  I think I need to sing a song to the family about family not necessarily about Jennifer passing. I know Be Not Afraid, third verse, is fitting but any other suggestions?  Mass songs, Christian songs.....thanks.

    On the Sunday after I was diagnosed, I went to Mass and felt like the Gospel and homily were speaking directly to me. The Gospel reading was "come unto me when you are heavily burdened". After attending Mass that Sunday, I felt such a sense of peace and felt for the first time that I just might get through this!

    Gina, Be Not Afraid is one of my favourites! A few other thoughts on hymns: Here I Am Lord, On Eagle's Wings, Eye Has Not Seen.

    Ellie - I'm so sorry to hear about Grandpa Andy.  He is in our prayers.

    Please keep Skip's Aunt Shirley in your prayers.  She had a stroke and is in ICU.

    Gina - how about Precious Lord, Take My Hand - (Transcends all of the Christian faiths)

    (I've included links to YouTube videos)

    Precious Lord, take my hand
    Lead me on, let me stand
    I am tired, I am weak, I am worn
    Through the storm, through the night
    Lead me on to the light
    Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

    When my way grows drear
    Precious Lord linger near
    When my life is almost gone
    Hear my cry, hear my call
    Hold my hand lest I fall
    Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

    When the darkness appears
    And the night draws near
    And the day is past and gone
    At the river I stand
    Guide my feet, hold my hand
    Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

    Precious Lord, take my hand
    Lead me on, let me stand
    I'm tired, I'm weak, I'm lone
    Through the storm, through the night
    Lead me on to the light
    Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

    Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring

    Jesu, joy of man's desiring,
    Holy wisdom, love most bright;
    Drawn by Thee, our souls aspiring
    Soar to uncreated light.

    Word of God, our flesh that fashioned,
    With the fire of life impassioned,
    Striving still to truth unknown,
    Soaring, dying round Thy throne.

    Through the way where hope is guiding,
    Hark, what peaceful music rings;
    Where the flock, in Thee confiding,
    Drink of joy from deathless springs.

    Theirs is beauty's fairest pleasure;
    Theirs is wisdom's holiest treasure.
    Thou dost ever lead Thine own
    In the love of joys unknown.

    Friends I asked and received Windlasses permission to repost this here. I think it fits us all. It helps decribe the strange post event feelings allot.

    Are you completely done with all of your treatment, surgery, etc? That could be part of the reason too - it's hard to feel like you did all that, and now Kablammo, it's just suddenly over. It feels like cancer kidnaps you, holds you at gunpoint for a hellacious couple of months (or years), then just dumps you out by the side of the road and says "thanks for the ride."

    mkk - Precious Lord is a great song.  My husband lead the Saturday evening Masses in music when we lived in NJ.  He is not an organist but plays the guitar very well.  Every once in awhile, he would sing one of those old time religion tunes and the congregation loved them!  Precious Lord was guaranteed to bring folks to tears.  There are many Catholic churches that would not permit either the guitar or old time religion hymns because many folks believe the organ is the only instrument for liturgy.  It's a shame.

    Sheila - thanks for posting that.  It's very true.
