Hello-------oooo- everyone. Bless all that are here. I have been absent by design and prayer. Our last novena, I prayed to be able to in conscious take a break and not feel guilty. That happened. I needed a break. I had just found out about the brain tumor growing and had to deal with it and after dealing with cancer since late 08----I prayed for a break. My mind said stay away from the boards(BCO).. I have popped in . I needed a break from thoughts of illness.
I have found sleep for those that were praying for that. If someone else has a problem with sleep, i will offer what I have learned.
I love you all so much --Namaste sheila

All I've read but the same as happened before- I went and played the quitar and loved it, came back to read past passages and too tired to do so..........to respond.........may I offer my music to you all b/c I was thinking of us all. It had all the sweetness through anger that we harbor. The beauty of guitar is it professes what we feel . MY dear husband never got that.
Greg grew from a family that never sang. He declined me playing the guitar. Though I was quite good. He declined singing. It was only last year at Christmas Mass, I turned to my son and said you can't sing ------------His Dad poohed poohed me so much ,I never realized my son never learned to sing.. I apologized. Guess what he's getting for Christmas ------Voice / singing lessons -----------he will hate it , but that's it. I will let you know how it turns out. It will not be easy, he doesn't believe he has a voice. Even a half voice in song is better than no voice. I wish I caught on sooner. Circumstances didin't allow. Namaste sheila

Let ALL our voices be heard! xo

Kay - you most certainly are correct about the saints. And what friends to have!
Sheila - yes, as valuable as these boards are, sometimes we need a break - so happy it worked out for you! And your sleep!!! Praise God! And it's funny about guitars and singing. Skip's family is big into singing - they got it from their Dad. Skip has a beautiful singing voice and plays the guitar like a professional. I'm sad that our church frowns on guitars at Mass - our church in NJ welcomed it and he had, what I called, groupies who stopped by after Mass and thanked him for his music. He has a great intuition at Mass and is not intrusive. Then he marries me, who only sings in the car when no one can hear! LOL Grandson Liam is a little song bird and we love to hear his little alto-soprano voice, but he's also shy about singing, even though we encourage it. Becky was telling me that they were decorating the Christmas tree and Liam started singing "He takes away the sins of the world oh Jesus Christ have mercy on us" (This is a 5 year old!) Then he realized he wasn't alone and stopped! I need to convince Skip to sing more at the house so as to be a good influence on the grandsons.

Theresa, the story about your Grandson made me think of my daughter when she was about 2. She would start singing "Alleluia" or "Lamb of God" at the top of her lungs in the strangest of places...on the potty, in the supermarket checkout line, etc. It was so cute! That's a shame that your church frowns on guitars during Mass. Our choir has 2 guitarists and the music adds so much to the Mass.

Hello sisters
Tried to post a pic in last post but it didn't work.
Will be on an organised walk tomorrow morning with one of the local cancer societies. Then going to an opera tomorrow night which is coming live via satellite from the NY Met. It is the matinee which is at 1 00pm in NY and 6 00pm here. There are 11 of them which come live during the season and they are all execellent. Any of you ever been to the NY Metropolitan Opera House?
Then I'm the lay reader this Sunday at 10 30am mass.
Michell we have a "folk type" choir at 10 30am mass on Sunday which has a 2 guitars, a couple of violins and a few other instruments. Then at the 12 00 mass we have the "senior" choir which is the traditional type choir.
Weather is getting a bit colder but no where near as cold as it probably is in parts of USA and Canada.
Take care all Hope you all have a good weekend.
Frank

Frank, I had to laugh at your attempt to post a picture. I attempted to post an article on the "Clnical Trials" board. I have no idea where is went when I hit send! I love the guitars at Mass, sometimes more than the heavy organ. You have a better weekend planned than me, Frank. Going to Queens, NY tomorrow to see my uncle who is in final stages of lung cancer. HIs wife is on oxygen tanks from emphysema and they never had children. Trying to get someone in to help them. Prayers for Joe and his wife, Cathy, please.
Good weekend to all of you and God keep you safe and healthy. Mary

Thanks Laura-------on a break getting mind in order or attempting LOL.
Mary-------is your uncle in hospice? They should have a Social worker that can make suggestions. SW are worth their weight in gold.
Theresa and Michello---cute about the kids. Guitars of all manner throughout history and the church still has trouble with them. They came from God just as all other instruments. Go figure.
Paula what was that question about a novena to John Paul was it?
Frank---never saw the opera---you're mor connected than us Yankees LOL.

Well we have let our friday night prayers go to pieces , we need to start thinking collectively again. We were such a force to be reckoned with. This is the season to capture that again. I could attempt notifying everyone like I did for Racy's novena, but my head was dizzy after that marathon of forward and back, and copy and paste. Bless us all.SAS0

Hi SAS, so good to "see" you! Here's my Friday night prayer:

Nite all, and God bless.

Sagina- San Antonia Gina---------If I were able to have a girl I would name her Sagina--------Oddly, enough when I had my hyster/oophs out when my twin sister had er+ BC in 96. I had the thought , this means no chance of ever having another child. 46 y/o having that thought. Then I think it was a close time that a 63 y/o had a child. Men have it so easy. Segovia the father of classical guitar, fathered a child in his 70's. He lived into his 90's.Tony Randal fathered children in his 70's. Were they blessed or at a loss. A child much loved, is never at a loss. I may not wake up tomorrow. What we do at this moment ,is this moment. A female friend woke up with pain several days ago, something told her to take an aspirin 325mg. She went to the gym within 4 hours and her friends said you don't look right.---------ER>>>>>>>>cardiology >>>>>>>stent.
She is here today. Why? I called and congratulated her on still being here. Sounds perhaps crude. She had a sense to take an aspirin 325mg, but denied other symptoms. God sent her friends that said you need to go now to ER
Why any thing happens. We believe in Gods plan. We at times so wonder why. Jennifer at 20 y/o ----why. David why. We have prayed for so many.
We must perpare our families for our demise---------not just b/c of BC------but life. Talk of this if you have small children. I taught DS from a small age, since Grandparents lived with us and one died while living with us, that if we died , it was in Gods plan.
As a nurse I was so often asked when there dear one would die. My first question was do you believe in God. If it was yes, my answer was always -------only one person knows and it is Him.I was never put in the situation of someone that had no belief. I was prepared fore that in conscious, but never had to go through it. I felt blessed by that. Had I had to deal with that , I think I could have come up with an answer.
Why am I writing this right know, a neighbor had a breakin last night. 5 cop cars and a scent dog. His reaction at first was to chase the guy,my neighbor is overweight/high triglycerides. Throwing system in to high overdrive. Even several days later could cause a fatal heart attack. Ain't worth it. Why here? This economy and the number of people on drugs. We have to protect ourselves. Look at your systems around your house to protect yourselves.
SAD thought but be aware-----------look to protect yourself. namaste sheila

Sas! Good to hear from you. I went all the way to my uncles place in ny today and he refused to open the door. He is down to 135 pounds but is a tough former marine and wants no help. I left the groceries with the doorman and left after banging on the door for an hour. The super tried to open the door at my request but my uncle bolted himself in. Oh btw, my stage iv bc mom was with me, crying. What a terrible day!

Sas, how about the Memorarie
Remember oh most gracious Virgin Mary that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence I fly unto you, o virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the word Incarnate, despise not my intentions but hear and answer me. Amen0 -
Hi everyone. Mass was awesome today, it just felt so good. We sang Grace like Rain, and it was a rainy colder day today, and you could just fell the warmth in the song! here's the chorus " Hallelujah, grace like rain, falls down on me, Hallelujah all my stains are washed away, their washed away...."

The Memorare is a good one. What don't we do that prayer every day BEGINNING on 12/8, the feast day of the Immaculate Conception. The 9th day would be FRIDAY, 12/16. I don't think I have a class that night, so I can mostly likely log in for 10pm prayers if everyone else is game.
Sheila - yes, we must prepare our families for our demise. Aunt Alba put in her will/trust that the family should go out to a nearby restaurant after the funeral and celebrate, it was her last hoorah! It was great. It wasn't up to one of the family members to have something at their house after the funeral. Aunt Alba already arranged for and paid for it. My brother did that too, he wanted everyone to go to the Moose and have a beer for him. We had a lot of cancer deaths in my family, so there was always ample time to talk about our passing. And there was time for laughter at our own mortality. I remember sitting in the funeral parlor with my two sisters talking to the owner about my Mom's arrangements. We were distraught with sorrow. My oldest sister was talking to him and fishing through her purse for her reading glasses, she said "I can't find my new glasses, I just bought them at Home Depot!" She didn't realize what she said (Home Depot the hardware store instead of Office Depot). My other sister and I looked at each other (you know the look you give to each other) and just started giggling and couldn't stop! It was embarrassing and delightful at the same time. So when the subject comes up with my kids or my husband about my death, I try to keep it light hearted and think about my sister and Home Depot.
We attended the Mass this Sunday where my SIL was initiated as a catechumen!! I started getting teary eyed and had to wipe my cheek a few times, told Skip my eyes were leaking after he whispered, "Now, don't start!" He admitted that he was getting a lump in his throat too. It was just beautiful and I told Travis that we were very proud of him. It's such a big leap of faith and he's really into it. They have a big class - about 20 of them came up for Father's blessing.
Prayers for you all during this second week of Advent!

I've been away for a while but I'm back! I will begin the novena today too (came on just in time!)
I had a hyst/ooph last Friday and have been recuperating from that.
I love the new translation even though I still mess up sometimes.
You all remain in my daily prayers.
Happy Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of our dear Blessed Mother!!!

Day One
Our Lady, hear our petitions and bring them to you Son.
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.
