Penny glad you found one.  We have several churches here with perpetual adoration, but not every part of town can do that for safety sake, really sad.....

I don't know the difference between the liberal and not ones....same neighborhood churchs for me since I was little.  We did have two priest from Spain come in for one year that immediately stopped all female presence on the alter, alter serves etc.  I don't know what order they came from either, they were gone in a year as was 3/4 of the congregation.  The wonderful young priest we have now has spent the last two years rebuildling the congregation and has succeeded beautifully.

Sagina - to each their own!  I just prefer a more traditional mass, even in latin.  Definitely one where we're encouraged to kneel before communion and receive the eucharist directly on the tongue.  I've found many priests actually change the words in the liturgy - and I'm not talking about the changes that were effective this past Advent.  I had a priest actually say that confession wasn't even necessary!

Having said that, communion is still valid, no matter which catholic church, as long as it's not in schism with the vatican.

    Hello Sisters

Next Saturday is the 17th March.  First sister back to say what is special about the 17th March gets a prayer said for them.

Was away at the weekend to go to a football match on Sunday. Went on Saturday stayed overnight then went through to the match. The church to which I went on Sunday has a notice board at the back and puts up a list of the names of the recently baptised children. Our church gives the names in the parish bulletin but the church on Sunday has photographs of the child and parents at the baptism which I thought was a nice touch. It also had on the other half of the notice board a list of names of parishoners who have died in the past year with a little wooden cross under each name which I also thought was a nice touch. We put the names in the parish bulletin.

Hope all is well with you all.

     Take care.

St Patricks Day? At least that's what the retailers and bars say.  Our river that runs through the city (huge tourist area) is dyed green for the day!

    Did I win your prayer?

Yes it's St Patrick's day - the patron saint of Ireland. A day on which Irish men all over the world drink too much, sing maudlin songs, talk about how lovely the "auld sod is/was" and get homesick lol. St Brigid is the patroness and her feast day is 1 February.

Gina before this day is out I will mention you by name and say a prayer for you. What city do you live in and is there a lot of Irish decent people in your city?

    take care all.

I'm in San Antonio Texas.  We are a mix of people from many different settlement communities.  We have a festival here in June called Texas folklife festival, it celebrates all the communities and all the food!

Father Kevin is in one of our parishes, he is from Ireland, not sure where, but I will find out.   My daughter enjoyed the University of Notre Dame in Indiana for a while until my dx when she transferred to a school in Texas.  They are the fighting Irish!

Frank------St Patrick's day here is an abomination of what it means in Ireland.  There it's a recognition of when Christianity was brought to Ireland by St Patrick. Here it's a day to party and get drunk. I fear two days in the year. New Years Eve and St Patty's day. People go out intentionally, to get stupid on drink. My Dad  owned an Irish Tavern In a large city. After a few short years after he got his license , I stopped going home to help out. Couldn't deal with the crazies. It's been since the late 70's since I've gone out on St. Patricks's day.  My Dad's place was painted white with green shamrocks around the top. -------------------bummer ..........St Patrick brought Christianity to Ireland. And is remembered here by drunkenness.

    Hello sisters

SAS unfortunately that is how St Patrick's day is celebrated in most parts of the world however aren't most holidays celebrated that way. For obvious reasons I drink very little alcohol now but on St Patrick's night I will indulge myself to two pints of the black stuff ! ! !

The all Ireland club finals are always held on St Patrick's day in Croke Park in Dublin. (Croke Park is the 4th biggest stadium in Europe) The hurling final is first followed by the football final. I usually go down to Dublin for them. I have my tickets bought from last week. For the first time in many years 2 northern clubs are involved - one in the hurling and one in the football. Now first sister to reply back who has ever been to a hurling match or can tell me something about how hurling is played gets 2 prayers said for her.

In the meantime sisters "Beannachtai na féile páraig oraibh" which translated from the Irish means "St Patrick's days greetings to you all"

    Take care.

Sagina yes I have heard of Notre Dame and that their nick name is "The fighting Irish". It was set up as a catholic university is it still recognised as such?  Notre Dame is French for "Our Lady" does any one know why is was originally named in French? As promised I mentioned you by name and said a "Hail mary" for you.

     Take care

awww thank you Frank.  Here's the weird connections.....my daughter went to Providence High school an all girls school run by the Sisters of Divine Providence who also run a university here in town called Our Lady of the Lake.  When we took my DD to orientation weekend, we found out that the school is called Notre Dame de lac.....Our Lady of the Lake.....my DD also went to primary school at Mount Sacred Heart run by the Sister of the Sacred Heart....the university has a Basilica on its grounds....The Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

When she got there the first week she signed up to teach CCD.  That was my proudest moment, 1300 miles away from me and she did that all on her own...

Thank you for the prayer.  I started to go the praytherosary.org site to say it with others....

Frank, Happy St. Patrick's Day to you! We'll be wearing the green and celebrating at my Mum's tomorrow night. This year, Niagara Falls will be lit up green!

My mother told me that, since St. Patrick's Day always falls during Lent, they were allowed a one day reprieve of whatever they gave up for Lent on that day when they were children.

Sorry, I haven't been on much lately. I'm trying to get back to normal life! I hope to be back to work sometime next month. I do think of you all and mention you in my prayers every day.

HAPPY ST PATTY'S DAY TO ALL.

fFrank you always ask such fun questions. Hurling here is vomiting, but I now that's not the response you want.  Have some great fun at your games.

Michello------we all understand----it's normal. Remember we all thought we used to know what that word meant. Now we keep trying to find it. It's now this elusive nebulous something that we once knew. Good luck and prayers with going back to work.

Sagina that was sweet about your daughter. You have a right to be beaming MOM.

Hello, to all that fly through  Blessings on us all. Have a safe day Namaste

To all- Just got a call from my insurance RN case manager. SX approved by them in less than one day after submittal. So, moving along. "Let it be". I've given it up to God. I was severely depressed about it. Then finally decided to give it to god and I will just follow along.

Going to go and say some prayers of thanksgiving. L&H's&P's all this has been a long journey. For those that don't know , I found out about the brain tumor the same day as the breast bx Jan23  2009. Watchful waiting since. It showed by MRI in Sept 2011 that it was growing. It's taken from then till now to get here. It doesn't have Malignancy characteristics which are "no edema or Mass effect", but we all know until the final path report is in , we worry. -----SAS

Yeah SAS, God is Good as we all know.  Someone posted on facebook this morning that if letting God be in control is like dancing.  If two people try to lead, it doesn't work.  One person gently leading, and one following makes the two as one, and the dance is beautiful.

So glad your dance is going so well!

    Love you always, gina

Sagina --what a beautiful thought-Yes at this moment, I am dancing with Him and he is leading L&H's sheila

With this thought in mind , I realize how much of the time I was trying to lead.

The thought meant so much to me Gina ,I had to repost the two on another thread. Hope you don't mind?

FYI - The US Government / Hillary Clinton has placed the Vatican on its “financial crimes” list of “potential” money launderers. According to the State Department, the Vatican made the list because it is considered “vulnerable” to laundering and because it had recently put a program into place to prevent financial abuse,” which apparently implies guilt. JPMorgan Chase has already closed all of the Vatican Bank accounts in Milan (the financial capital of Italy) – effective as of March 30th. Glenn Beck (a Mormon) who just recently went to the Vatican himself, has a phenomenal commentary on this (just go to the link below to watch). Make no mistake. We’re getting hit from all sides. This administration is aggressively pulling out all the stops to control or bring down the Catholic Church. Please talk to the people around you and let them know what is going on. Blessings. http://web.gbtv.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=20177695&topic_id=24584158

Redwolf--------this Catholic thread is in transition. your words have great value, but previously this was a site for support. It fell apart . But based on PM's we do not want it to become political.

While your statement has immenese meaning, it dosen't belong here. We want to be a prayiny site----not political. You can start your own thread.  You may disagree, but it's important to keep the prayer / learning thread from the political. Thanks Sheila
