I am keeping you in prayers, especially you who are sick, who are tired, who need heaven's intervention more than anyone! Remind Jesus you trust Him and you love Him so so much at that hour! Many miracles will be happening! No prayer, no request is small, as long as it means something to you, it means something to Jesus if it is not against love or charity!

At what point did any of you move past the "why did you let this happen stage God" or "if you are so almighty why don't you cure me/everyone" phase? I feel God's presense sometimes, usually at night sometimes the only way I can fall asleep (even with Ambien) is to imagine holding Jesus' hand....hard! But still during the day I'm so overwhelmed by my mortality, shitty luck being diagnosed 21 yrs before the avg age of 61...numbers, averages, medicine, doctors...I question the Lord constantly. This is quite a struggle for me...I know human DNA is fragile...and I even feel more guilty using plastic trash bags, heck I was rinsing a paint brush off the other day thinking how could I be so bitter with God when here I am poisoning our water supply...why would even God want to help someone this stupid?

Pray allot. Use your Rosary daily, even if you can't say the whole Rosary. I find in many times, it helps put me into a deep restful sleep. April 11th 2012---------I posted something awhile back, it had to do with moving on. I did not mean that the thread should disintegrate. I am Catholic. Those that came here were whatever their belief systems were. We didn't question or deny. We were by Laura Esteeps request in the header to be receiving of all. Ecumenical.
For those that stayed along time, we were just that, Ecumenical.
I'm asking that all that were here----come back. I know that you check in. I have talked with many of you by PM. You each have your own reasons for not being here. Each is a valid reason.
Why should you come back? Together we were a formidable source for our Novena's. Without a Catholic presence what do seeking Catholics do? If you have read the antithesis of the Catholic/Ecumenical belief you will see what I mean.
Many are active on other threads, Me too. BUT the core of our being is here. GOD, CHRIST, OUR BLESSED VIRGIN, SAINTS. If we fore-sake this thread, what does it mean when one of our sisters or brothers come seeking help.
So, many reacted recently when a person made a political statement--------that wasn't us. We were here.in force to make sure politics did not enter here -------------so, who are we.
I would even suggest that this be a religious thread with religious thoughts.
I have had many say to me that they weren't acknowledged. Perhaps this is not a function of this site. Perhaps this site is to be religious versus too much conversational. The novena's and prayers were never meant to be conversational. We have a purpose that is religious, we have a responsibility to pray together for the souls that have passed and the souls in trouble.

Hello all
Well a bit of good news. I go every 3rd Wednesday (which was today) to give bloods and if every thing is OK I get my treatment the following day Thursday, which will be tomorrow when I receive dose #23 of Herceptin. A SE of Herceptin is heart toxicity in that it can lower your Ejection Fraction. Therefore I have to get an ECG every 3 months. If your EF falls below 50% you have to stop the Herceptin and are refered to a cardiologist untill the EF comes back up. 2 ECGs ago my EF was down to 51%. Well this morning when I was at the clinic to give bloods I got the results of my last ECG and it showed that my EF was UP to 55%. Oncologist very upbeat about the result - but not half as upbeat as I was ! ! ! Just wanted to share some good news.
Take care and keep saying the prayers.

Well Frank------HURRAH---------excellent, so, Happy that you are 55%. Knowing that after your last evaluation, you have since had a worry b/c it was so close to the 50%. I would think , you may seem it strange for me to assume you worried, but been there done that, would have been natural. So, worry gone for 3 months what a blessing. Enjoy. May Our Father, Blessed Mary and all the Saints in Heaven protect you and keep the numbers high.

Just lurking in the background at the moment, but So happy to have found this thread!! Thank you Sheila for mentioning it! I so often wonder if I will be upsetting someone if I mention God in a post, or use the term blessed or so many other similar things (not that it stops me).
So hello to everyone here!

Welcome to our group Nancy. It's good to hear from you. I can totally relate to what you said about the Bible. Since I've been off work on disability since July I decided it was a great opportunity to read the Bible. Well, I didn't get very far. I find the Old Testament a difficult read. I'm currently taking the Alpha course and this week's topic is "How and why should I read the Bible?" Maybe I'll pick up some tips so I can resume my reading!
We found out this week that our wonderful pastor is being moved at the end of June. My daughters are very upset about this as he really connected with the youth in our parish. It's always difficult when a priest moves on, especially one who is treasured by so many.
I am going back to work on Monday after a 9 month leave. I'm looking forward to getting back to "real life" but I'm a bit nervous at the same time.
I haven't been on here much lately but I do mention everyone her in my prayers every day.
God Bless you all!!0 -
Hi everyone. So much destructive weather brewing, praying for safety for all.
Asking for prayers for my SIL, nearing the end of her battle with breast cancer these last 20 years. She is faithful, and has no doubt that she will lay in the arms of Jesus soon. She inspires me to get healthier.
I just opened my pink devotional Bible and it opens to, I kid you not, HEALING. It references Psalm 34:18 "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit."
And to close our eyes, and sit silently to hear God answer us....well, I went on a day retreat with our team leaders that will be taking the women on the retreat next weekend. The nun that gave the day retreat had an activity for us at the end of day that tied back into our discussions from the morning. We went around in a circle and told what the Bible passage she read (based on our retreat message). I told her I was hearing fear of cancer in my self.
So at the end of the day she had us go one by one and pick up these stone hearts with words on them. My heart said healing. I was the only one that got that word....so many of the words were spot on with what people were saying earlier. We just had to get away and get quiet to hear Him answer us.
Sunday novena, I'm in!

Sagina so sorry about your SIL. I'm happy though that she has faith. Your Bible verse. Today being Divine Mercy Sunday.
Michelle would it be to late to put together a novena to start today either for ST. Faustina or for Divine Mercy. I'll notify everyone if my incision isn't hurting to much. The reading glasses sit right on the last 1/4 inch So, I'll check back in later.

found a site that has the Divine Mercy Novena. It states that it is usually started on Good Friday and completed today, but that it can be said at anytime during the year. I will post today's prayer here. Then post the whole sequence in the prayer archives. I would feel better that the whole novena was available versus depending on my memory to post the prayer each day .Namaste.sheila. ___i'll notify everyone too, by PM.
the Divine Mercy Novena as I read the instructions can be accompanied by the DM Chaplet. I have include the Chaplet instructions here for those that wish to do so. The chaplet is optional.
The Divine Mercy Chaplet is a relatively recent but very popular devotion revealed by Our Lord to Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun. On Good Friday 1937, Christ appeared to Saint Maria Faustina and asked her to recite this chaplet for nine days, starting on Good Friday and ending on the Octave of Easter (the Sunday after Easter Sunday), now known as Divine Mercy Sunday.
The chaplet is most often recited during those nine days, but it can be prayed at any time of the year, and Saint Maria Faustina recited it almost unceasingly. A standard rosary can be used to recite the chaplet .
Difficulty: Easy Time Required: 20 minutes
Here's How:
Make the Sign of the Cross
Pray the Opening Prayers
After making the Sign of the Cross, pray the following opening prayers. The second prayer is repeated three times:"You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us."
"O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!" (three times)
Pray the Our Father
Pray the Hail Mary
Say the Apostles' Creed
Pray the Prayer "Eternal Father"
On the Our Father bead before each decade, pray the following prayer:
"Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. Amen."
Pray the Prayer "For the Sake of His Sorrowful Passion" Ten Times
On each of the Hail Mary beads in each decade, pray the following prayer:
"For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world."
Repeat Steps 6 and 7
On each of the next four decades of the Chaplet, repeat steps 6 and 7 (pray the Eternal Father, followed by ten "For the Sake of His Sorrowful Passion").
Pray the Concluding Doxology Three Times
After you have prayed all five decades of the Chaplet, pray the following prayer, which is repeated three times:
"Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world." (three times)
Pray the Closing Prayer
After the doxology, pray the following final prayer:
"Eternal God, in Whom mercy is endless, and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments, we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy Itself. Amen."

the first day of the Divine Mercy novena, Christ asked Saint Faustina to pray the following prayer for the sake of all mankind, especially sinners. She recorded the following words of Our Lord in her diary: "Today bring to Me all mankind, especially all sinners, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. In this way you will console Me in the bitter grief into which the loss of souls plunges Me."
Prayer for the First Day of the Divine Mercy Novena
Most Merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins but upon our trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon all mankind and especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion show us Your mercy, that we may praise the omnipotence of Your mercy for ever and ever. Amen

The following is the message I'm trying to c&p to everyone. This method has usually worked for me in the past, but isn't cooperating today so I figured I'd try C&P after writing this.
Hi, it's sheila starting the Divine Mercy Novena today April 15th. Sorry about the late notice. They first days prayers are on the main Catholic thread. The full 9 days are in the archives. I was being OCD about worrying getting the posted everyday so all nine days are safely posted in the archives. The chaplet instructions are on the main board and in the archives The chaplet is optional.
Please post intentions on main board and mmm5 has kindly said she would condense as usual.
Forgive me for no personal notes, incision is hurting b/c of my reading glasses and I'm blind without them for reading-----typings a hoot when you're using a magnifying glass.

Hi NAncy,
I love Immaculee! xo
Lord when I am full of fear and worry, help me to take my eyes off myself and to focus on you.
Take a moment to quite yourself within. Focus on your breathing and become present to God, who knows EVERYTHING about you and who LOVES you.

For the second day of the Divine Mercy novena, Christ asked Saint Faustina to pray the following prayer for the sake of priests, monks, and nuns. She recorded the following words of Our Lord in her diary: "Today bring to Me the Souls of Priests and Religious, and immerse them in My unfathomable mercy. It was they who gave me strength to endure My bitter Passion. Through them as through channels My mercy flows out upon mankind."
Prayer for the Second Day of the Divine Mercy Novena
Most Merciful Jesus, from whom comes all that is good, increase Your grace in men and women consecrated to Your service, that they may perform worthy works of mercy; and that all who see them may glorify the Father of Mercy who is in heaven.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the company of chosen ones in Your vineyard-upon the souls of priests and religious; and endow them with the strength of Your blessing. For the love of the Heart of Your Son in which they are enfolded, impart to them Your power and light, that they may be able to guide others in the way of salvation and with one voice sing praise to Your boundless mercy for ages without end. Amen.
