Theresa a very long response to your description of St Augustine's description pf peace and how it relates to order. I was very excited about it b/c it describes my recovery from all that has gone on. I was so excited that I had to add an intention "right now'" LOL's. MY intention is for Mary Kay above. But I forgot to hit submit on the post to you in my haste. Gone. But my intention for her sums up the essence of what I was writing to you. Thank you dear friend.

Sas,Krakow Poland is where the original Shrine is. That is where Sister Faustina is entombed. I thought the only other Shrine was in Stockbridge but I could be wrong. As far as bringing prayers and intentions to the Shrine I would be honored but would need you and Michele to help as I am not good with computers and the like. Just tell me what I need to do. It will keep me active on the boards because sometimes I stay away for long periods of time.

Noni--Thad's why this is so blessed.. you came at an unknown time, that was rare, in the midst of a novena that was close to your home that you attend often. Dozen"t  it give you chills, It does me. I sent  Michelle a PM if she doesn't answer soon say day 8 we are om day 6 then ........ The ideal is that Michelle collects all the intentions put's them om the intention page and you print off the one page.and then take it too the Chapel On the 9th day.. We have been blessed by so many of our novenas being taken to places I described , by members, I feel that our movena's are blessed in someway. I certainly feel since my return to the church, the speaker that defined the Divine Mercy novena was amazing . I came home and immediately looked up more history. It was a must do start today thing. everyone jumped in. Them you came. Noni think about that. You have moved on  dear one , Which is normal. But you happenned to check in at the moment you could accomplish something for all. If that isn't guided what is!  So, stay with us for the rest of the novena.. Continue for the days that you missed. I believe are intentions will be responded too. We never know how, It's perhaps something we need differently than we ask. But I will always share the storey of you coming at this point.  It is too special, to rare., too coincidental Pax and Namaste sheila

EDIT mmm5 has it figured out

Hello everyone, I'm back at work this week and trying to stay away from this site. I love this thread, but every time I come here, I wander to other threads and end up feeling worried when I read bad news.

I have been praying the Novena every day. Here are my intentions:

That everyone here will experience healing and the peace that can only come through God.

For my Uncle Pat, my husband's Aunt Vera and my friend Ken from church...all are having treatments for various forms of cancer.

As I return to work following my treatments, that I may be healed of cancer and be here for many years to see my two beautiful daughters grow up. I pray for strength to resume my normal life.

That the Alpha weekend retreat I'm attending next weekend may renew my faith and bring me closer to Jesus.

Noni, thanks very much for doing this!

    God bless you all.  Michelle

For the seventh day of the Divine Mercy novena, Christ asked Saint Faustina to pray the following prayer for the sake of all those most devoted to His mercy. She recorded the following words of Our Lord in her diary: "Today bring to Me the Souls who especially venerate and glorify My Mercy, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls sorrowed most over my Passion and entered most deeply into My spirit. They are living images of My Compassionate Heart. These souls will shine with a special brightness in the next life. Not one of them will go into the fire of hell. I shall particularly defend each one of them at the hour of death."

Prayer for the Seventh Day of the Divine Mercy Novena

Most Merciful Jesus, whose Heart is Love Itself, receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who particularly extol and venerate the greatness of Your mercy. These souls are mighty with the very power of God Himself. In the midst of all afflictions and adversities they go forward, confident of Your mercy; and united to You, O Jesus, they carry all mankind on their shoulders. These souls will not be judged severely, but Your mercy will embrace them as they depart from this life.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls who glorify and venerate Your greatest attribute, that of Your fathomless mercy, and who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls are a living Gospel; their hands are full of deeds of mercy, and their hearts, overflowing with joy, sing a canticle of mercy to You, O Most High! I beg You O God: Show them Your mercy according to the hope and trust they have placed in You. Let there be accomplished in them the promise of Jesus, who said to them that during their life, but especially at the hour of death, the souls who will venerate this fathomless mercy of His, He, Himself, will defend as His glory. Amen.

For the eighth day of the Divine Mercy novena, Christ asked Saint Faustina to pray the following prayer for the sake of all the souls in Purgatory. She recorded the following words of Our Lord in her diary: "Today bring to Me the Souls who are in the prison of Purgatory, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice."

Prayer for the Eighth Day of the Divine Mercy Novena

Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet, who must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood and Water which gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames of Purgatory, that there, too, the power of Your mercy may be celebrated.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded: Manifest Your mercy to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way but only through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion. Amen

Michelle - I was the same way with this bc.org community.  I would log in to Catholics and then get sucked into reading other threads, then I would get discouraged or angry, etc, so I stayed away.  Thanks to Sheila's continued promptings, I am here.  I will not stray to other threads! LOL

Thank you all dear sisters for taking my profession in this novena.  That is so sweet!  I'm a little nervous, being an introvert, to be the only one professing... I don't like being the center of attention in anything.  But the Holy Spirit will provide the strength that I need to not fall to pieces! :-)

My daughter has been suffering from poison ivy rashes and it won't come under control even after seeing a doctor.  Her old rashes are started to get better, but then new rashes came on her stomach and legs yesterday and she wasn't even gardening!  She's very discouraged, but will see the doctor again tomorrow, hopefully.  Her doctor did not return her calls last week, so I'm not too happy with this group of doctors.  Please keep her in your prayers.

    God bless! Pax et bonum!

For the ninth day of the Divine Mercy novena, Christ asked Saint Faustina to pray the following prayer for the sake of all the souls who have become lukewarm in their belief. She recorded the following words of Our Lord in her diary: "Today bring to Me the Souls who have become Lukewarm, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. These souls wound My Heart most painfully. My soul suffered the most dreadful loathing in the Garden of Olives because of lukewarm souls. They were the reason I cried out: 'Father, take this cup away from Me, if it be Your will.' For them, the last hope of salvation is to run to My mercy."

Prayer for the Ninth Day of the Divine Mercy Novena

Most compassionate Jesus, You are Compassion Itself. I bring lukewarm souls into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart. In this fire of Your pure love, let these tepid souls who, like corpses, filled You with such deep loathing, be once again set aflame. O Most Compassionate Jesus, exercise the omnipotence of Your mercy and draw them into the very ardor of Your love, and bestow upon them the gift of holy love, for nothing is beyond Your power.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon lukewarm souls who are nonetheless enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Father of Mercy, I beg You by the bitter Passion of Your Son and by His three-hour agony on the Cross: Let them, too, glorify the abyss of Your mercy. Amen.

Morning my dear friends in Christ, well I did go to the Devine Mercy Chapel yesturday and placed your intentions right up on the alter. What a truely amazing place. When my daughter was diagnosed back 8 years ago I couldn't get up there fast enough. A healing service was taking place and the priest laid hands on my daughter at which time she said their was the most heavenly smell of roses as if the chapel was filled with roses, however there was not one rose in the whole church and none of us smelt any roses, this was her gift and she often mentions it to this day. She had breast cancer in both breasts at 34 yrs old. I was devastated at the time but I new just where to go...to flee to My Lord. Now 8 years later or is it 9, June 25, 2004. By the way the day of her surgery was the date of the first apparition in Medjgorie, thought that was my little gift since I had been there in 1988 and have since been following all the messages given each month on the 25th.

So much is happening in the world all around us in this the century we are living in and we must look around and realize this is the hour of Mercy. Apparitions all over the world are taking place and I will never forget in 1988 when I was there we spoke to the visionaries and they told us if you new what God has prepared for you you would all be dancing, however there was great urgency in the messages and remember Our Blessed Mother told us that in Medjgorie she would remain with us until the return of Her Son and She still appears every 25th of each month with a message to the world, believe or not just open your eyes to the evil all around us..it must be stopped.

Michele I see in your prayers you always mention Immaculee, is this Immaculee Ilibagiza??? If any of you want to read an amazing account of apparitions that took place in Kibeho Affrica, just about the same time the apparitions started in Medjgorie, this book one of many books written by Immaculee. These apparitions took place as a warning to the people of Africa to come back to God and repent and change there ways. In 1994 genocide swept acoss Rwanda and left more than a million people dead during 100 horrifying days of savage bloodletting and mass murder. One of the most inspiring books I have ever read. Our prayer group had Immaculee come to our church to give a talk and she now just goes around the country speaking..Please just google her, there is so much she can teach us about Trusting in all things.

Sorry so long but my day up at the Chapel was just a reminder of how much Our Lord cares for us and all we have to do is Trust in His Mercy and to keep praying, so many accounts of miracles and testimony's of healings of all kinds. PRAY, PRAY, PRAY

Oh lovely sisters in Christ, I have been away teaming on the retreat - it was so amazing even on the side I was on - still a retreat for me too!

My SIL passed Friday morning.  She battle BC for 20 years. She was 52 she leaves behind three wonderful daughters each with 3 children, such lovely, gentle girls.  She raised them to be graceful just like her.

No doubt she is dancing with the Lord today, her birthday, her burial day.

She would not have a sad face or tear shed for her, rather just the memory of her and the strong hold of her faith.

    Hello sisters

just back from a marvelous week's holiday in a small town in the south of Spain. Beautiful hotel right on the shore of the Mediterranean sea and had a room overlooking the sea. Up each morning and out for a walk before breakfast in a dining room overlooking the Med. Then had an easy morning with mid-morning coffee in the town square watching the world go by. lunch at a pavement café accompanied with a glass of chilled white wine, then an easy afternoon of walks and reading by the shore. evening meal usually of fresh fish with a glass or two of wine. then out for a walk in the warm balmy evening air and a night cap before bed. Sisters despite the rigours of war, famile, pestilence and the curse of cancer - there is a God in heaven ! ! !

There was a woman from N Ireland in the hotel whom we would vaguely know. She was diagnosed with a form a cancer 20 YEARS AGO. She is still getting treatment and has had her ups and downs but you should have seen her. She looked great. It actually made my holiday to see her and chat with her. I just hope that I'm still about in 20 years and looking as good as she does. So sisters there is hope.

Got a CT Scan yesterday and will get the results next Wednesday when I next go to give bloods and meet with the Onc.

    take care.

Gina - I'm so sorry.  May her soul rest in peace and her family find comfort.  20 years is a long battle.  I am 52 also and know how hard it would be to say good-bye to my family if my cancer had taken a more aggressive route.  Yes, she is dancing in Heaven today!

Frank - great vacation!  Yes, there is a God!  That 20 year survivor does warm us up to hope.

Sheila - yes, PM me for a nursing discussion. Poison Ivy?  Becky is mending, finally.

I was reading one of my lessons last night and it was on sickness and suffering.  What a difficult but relevant topic. I still don't "get" it and will spend some time talking to my teachers next week about it. My one teacher has a husband who is failing and needs lots of attention and her adult son is demented, so he needs a lot of attention, and she took a fall and broke her arm 2 weeks ago!!  She is walking the suffering walk!  But we are called to unite our sufferings with the sufferings of Christ for the conversions of sinners.  And it takes our own suffering to bring us to our knees before our God.  Skip and I had the honor of seeing Father Groeschel this past weekend at the church in VA.  Awesome!!!  He talked about suffering too and how our own or family member's sickness is often the thing that brings conversion.  When we're happy and healthy, we tend to take God for granted.

    Happy St. Mark Day!

Gina, so sorry to hear about your SIL. God bless her family.

Frank, sounds like a wonderful vacation! Love the 20 years story!

Theresa, I also have been struggling with the question of why God allows suffering. I'm currently taking the Alpha course and we have spent some time discussing this topic. I know for myself that my cancer diagnosis has brought me closer to the Lord, which is a good thing. But, one of the things I read said we should ask ourselves "What does God want me to do now?" I've been asking but still haven't found any answers. This weekend is our Alpha retreat...lots of Holy Spirit topics...maybe the Holy Spirit will guide me to the answer! I'm really looking forward to the retreat for a lot of reasons...it will be especially nice to have someone else cook all my meals for two days!!!

Yes, Happy St. Mark day...our parish is St. Mark so it's a special day for me!

    God bless you all!

Theresa---is Becky the one with poison ivy-if she's on the mend than I won't PM you. The problem with things that disrupt the skin is it allows other bacteria an entry point. So if it gets worse Pm me.

About being shy and being the only one to Profess on your day. As you would tell each one of us dear one "Gve it to God and St Francis". Your happiness that day will be insurmountable.

Thanks for the pep talk Sheila. :-)  Yes, to your improved typing! LOL  Yes, Becky is on the mend.  They gave her antibiotics for the skin infection and steriods.  Hopefully, this does the trick.  Skip saw her briefly last night and said she looked a lot better.

Michelle - I haven't heard of the Alpha course.  That question, though, "What does God want me to do now?" is really a powerful question for all of us.  One of the things we do for each other is to be here for spiritual support before, during and after our cancer treatment.  But then we ask, "Ok, what else can I do for You, Lord?"  That prompted me last year to start teaching CCD.  I really felt nervous about it and felt I couldn't do it, but it's worked out great.  And I still find myself asking, "Ok, what else can I do for You, Lord?"  I think it's a question that is a lifetime question. :-)  I hope you have a fantastic time at your retreat and are blessed with many graces!

Today is Our Lady of Good Counsel Day.  The best counsel Our Lady gave for all of us was at the Wedding of Cana when she directed the servants (we are all servants, eh?) to do whatever Jesus tells us.  Thank you Mary, for your good counsel!
