Welcome back, mnmom. :-) Penny

So thankful to God for letting me be home, alive and otherwise-well. I still don't feel "all better" yet. My heart rate is abnormally high, I get shortness of breath just walking from one room to another, and I have a lot of muscle aches and pains. I feel pretty weak - now would be a good time to get your revenge on me. I couldn't throw a punch to save my life lol. There seems to be a disagreement between the hospital and my pharmacy on the antibiotic. It's in a class that the pharmacy has me allergic to. The hospital knew this but wanted to give it to me anyway (they prescribed it to me not for the sinus infection but for one they feel may be lurking somewhere else in my body), saying they'd be monitoring me and just because I'm allergic to one doesn't mean I'll be allergic to the other. The "sinus infection" may also be a reaction to the navelbine chemo - I had the same symptoms before, so I'm on a steroid for that also.
Anyway, the hospital got my liver functioning normally again and I'm thankful to God for that. Now I have to try to get bloodwork done twice this week to be sent to my oncologist. But first I want to talk to her today and get her spin on the antibiotic thing, also on how she wants to treat me, since this chemo combo worked but almost killed me. I have a friend on a stage 4 breast cancer board on the same combo who experienced the same thing - her oncologist decreased the dosage and she's doing much better, the cancer is even still dying praise God. This combo is just so new.
That's my story for now. Will update you as I can. Don't forget to thank Jesus for listening to our prayers!

Penny you are so right. I was thanking God for your life every time I woke up last night, Praise God. (Tamoxifen ensures plenty of hot-'n-cold prayer moments in the night, not complaining. Increases prayer life should be listed as a beneficial SE perhaps?). That sounds very positive about the other lady whose onco decreased the dose. God willing your onco will find the right balance for you. Be sure to make yourself get loads of REST! You need it, your body needs it. (We women/mothers are kind of programmed to keep on going no matter what, it's hard to fight the wiring.) You've been through one hell of an ordeal from the part of it that you've posted here.
mnmom - hi! Nice to know you have been with us all in spirit.
Love Susanna

What a wonderful gift to find this thread! I am Catholic as well, although I came to the church after growing up in the Lutheran faith. I married a Catholic "boy"...from one of the 5 Catholic families in the farm town I grew up in. We married in the Lutheran church, with dispensations from the Catholic church. After 1 year of marriage, I became Catholic...39 years ago.
I pray that our loving Father bless our bodies and spirits....that He gives us strength to meet/beat this cancer and that He blesses those who love and care for us. I love Sacred Heart Radio's Rosary, GrammyR, and find myself sitting in many parking lots at 1:30
I'm especially thankful that Penny is healing at home today! Blessings to all...thank you for posting beautiful words, prayers & novenas...all which make life in this place even more lovely.

RonnieKay- welcome - you are blessed to have support of a wonderful family- even some kitty cats I think. My cat Layla has been such a blessing over the last few years. When I needed PT she made me bend down to pick her up , when I was too sick she lay next to me in bed all day. From your profile I see you have been thru a lot too. God will give us the strength to handle each day as it comes.
Basia- welcome also. I too was a " cradle Catholic" and even though a spiritual person I somehow felt tbe pull back to God after my first BC diagnosis. It is SO comforting to attend mass now, even tho I don't get there some Sundays when not physically up to it. God is still w/us all the time and I gladly accept prayers from friends now as I pray for them too regardless of them being Catholic or not.
On readings from this upcoming Fourth Sunday of Easter read Psalm 23:1-3a,3b-4, 5,6 (1)
The Lord is my Sheperd there is nothing I shall want. In verdant pastures he gives me repose; beside restful waters he leads me; he refreshes my soul.

Rene...probably my favorite verse...every day! Mass feeds my soul, and our priest is such a divine gift to our parish...I often feel the hand of Jesus when I have the Sacrament of Healing. We are surrounded by kitties...3 grand cats . Two are pixie bobs-dogs in cat's clothes. They are love bugs.
Penny...1 month ago I had a rapid heartbeat, hard to catch breath & passed bloody stools. My gp sent me to the er (onc said to go to gp). After finding a hemmrhoid, they kept me on the heart monitor, did lung xray, Doppler on legs, blood tests & sent me home saying all was good. Onc said a week later I was probably dehydrated or needed salt. My heart test (herceptin-led) the next week was great. I will share your reaction, as well as Woody's with my onc tomorrow. Sorry, I probably should've shared this on another thread.
Basia...Blessings to your family in celebrating your daughters' Holy Communion! What a joyous day!
Peace & Love.

Rene, RonnieKay You are cat lovers. You'd NEVER guess I am too!
My last cats died aged 20 and 18 right before my cancer dx. Then day before yesterday a starving, timid tom arrived in our neighbourhood. Of course I am saying someone may own him. Of course the kids are listening to me NOT.
Perfectly appropriate to mention cats on Catholic thread!! Catholic means universal. All of us part of God's creation.

Headed back to UPenn. Throwing up, fever, heart racing, short of breath. Hopefully they won't have to admit me. Thank You, Lord, for this quality time with my husband.

Penny- prayer coming out tonight again. It sounds like a very good hospital so they will get some answers for you hopefully tomorrow. Gentle hugs. Took new pics of my kittie today so will post soon.Psalm 57:
" Have Mercy on me God, have mercy on me. For in you my soul takes refuge. I will seek shelter in the shadow of your wings until the time of danger is past."

Penny- so happy to hear you were heading home. I prayed for you ad all of us here while laying on the MRI table today for 45 minutes and then hour and half drive home. I recall my early nursing days when us ( the actual nurses) delivered food trays along w/bed baths, meds, comfort and anything else needed. Your lucky to get a wet wipe these days...ha.. anyway Penny back to your own bed s always nice.
I need a little prayer tonight myself ladies as I await my MRI report and see my MO tomorrow afternoon. Praying for not further mets spread. Perhaps bad arthritis would be the better result.

The next novena we will pray is toMary, Undoer of Knots
Since Pope Francis was elected, the devotion to Mary, Undoer of Knots has grown tremendously.
The devotion comes from the second century. Saint Irenaeus explained it, saying, "The knot of Eve's disobedience was untied by the obedience of Mary; what the virgin Eve bound by her unbelief, the Virgin Mary loosened by her faith."
Basically, the Blessed Virgin Mary can undo the knots in our lives!
Whatever has separated us from God and hardened our hearts - be it violence, pride, the absence of peace, anguish, despair, depression, sickness or discord -- Mary has such compassion for us and prays for us to her son, Jesus Christ.
We will begin praying on May 15th -- that's less than one week away! So be sure to share this novena with all of your friends and family before then.
They can sign up to pray with usHERE.0 -
Will await the 15th, Penny! Steadfast prayers, Rene!!!!
