The next novena we will pray is to a very persistent intercessor!

In fact, this Saint prayed for her son's conversion for more than 15 years. She wept and prayed constantly with faith and hope in God.

What was the result of all those years of prayer?

One of the great saints in the history of the Church!

We will be praying the Novena to St. Monica!

St. Monica was St. Augustine's mother and is a powerful advocate.

The novena begins on August 18th! That's just one week from today!

My next MRI is on Monday the 18th (this Monday) @2:30pm. I'm again asking for prayers. The Novena to St. Monica begins that day. Whatever you can do, I appreciate. I should have results on Wednesday the 20th at my oncology appointment. This is my first MRI since starting a new chemo cocktail. God is Good and Merciful and I have Faith in the Power of His Love for all of us.

"Lord, thank you for hearing my prayers. I pray for the desire to know and want your Will for me. I offer up the intentions of my heart for good appointments, MRI, and results on the 18th and 20th of next week. In the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, I pray. Amen."

Special prayers for you, Penny, that you will feel the arms of Jesus around you and feel His peace as you have your scans.  Ever hopeful for good news!

Feline....a big snicker about your aunt becoming a Catholic for her daughter's schooling and curious as to your cousin's schooling.  Did she continue in the church?

Grammy...oh yes, watched (mostly heard!) the Blue Angels. After mass, we went to pick blueberries at Mercer Slough & we watched them flying to their show.  I enjoy them...but also know how spendy it is, after the cancellation last year.

    Feast of the Assumption tomorrow...

    Love & Prayers

That's a wonderful thing!!!   My DS & DIL had not had our 5 yr old Grandaughter baptized, which was heartbreaking to DH & me.  When I got my mets dx 12/12, they left that day & drove home to WA from Long Beach, CA, even the dog.  They stayed a month (at which time DIL's mother became I'll with cirrhosis of the liver...she passed 12/13).  While here, DS announced he had spoken to our priest & Josie would be baptized on 1/4/13, with the stipulation their family would register at a church at home and Josie would begin her religious studies.  Praise The Lord!!!   Now...our DD, who is married to a Rastafarian from St Lucia, is considering baptism for 10 mo old Margaux. I pray that happens and that DD will continue in her faith as she raises that sweet baby girl!  Prayers for all of our children to follow in the path leading them to our Father.  Pope Francis surely was a gift from God for our needy world!  Have a beautiful day!

Ronnie-Kay am glad to see you posting again. Yes my biggest goal in life now is ti get my DS back in church. My DIL is taking my 2 grandkids (3 and 6 )to Methodist church which is better than no church at all.  I am so overjoyed that pope continues his travels and speaking out of injustices.

Penny- prayers and thoughts w/you. Our Novenas will continue. I like to watch the women of our Lady on EWTN. They discuss the Novena a lot.

Grammy...you are always on my "I want to call" list.  I know it would so fun...just to give/get a hug!!!  At blood draw Wed, one of my favorite nurses and I were talking (as usual) about her being a nurse 40 years.  She grew up in Seattle & said her mom still lives in Renton.  Where????   Your neighborhood...can you believe it?  I think we should consider moving :)

Pope Francis's visit to Korea to beatify their martyrs for the church,  was so interesting, addressing their society being too competitive regarding social/monetary goals.  He noted how much pressure it puts on the young people...you may have read about it.  He keeps bringing attention to the ways that our world needs to change to focus on what is "right & just!"  What a blessing!

Grammy...please tell me where to find ewtn.

How is DH doing Feline???  My prayers are for all of us :), our loved ones & scans...along with a multitude of other requests!  Love to all.

Grammy...I'm happy your wee ones are learning about Jesus :)

Praise God indeed RonnieKay, God willing your darling granddaughter will be baptised too. Grammy, I understand your love and prayers for your son. That is wonderful that your grandchildren are being given the Good News at the church they attend.

Penny thinking of you and praying for you for tomorrow.

RonnieKay thank you for asking, DH is ok, he has had 6 weeks off work sick followed by 2 weeks annual leave which he is currently on. He is away (you will not believe this) in SEATTLE. He has an Aunt  in Port Angeles and will do a little travelling around the area. He had originally planned this trip before his dx happened and of course had to postpone it for the surgery. It is a terrible thing to say but I was never so glad to wave him off in my life as he has been a bit of a bear this last 6 weeks. He has to have a PSA test the day after he comes home, then we see the surgeon 4 Sept. The surgeon will refer him back to the radiation onc who we have already met (same radiation onc that I had) and we will learn his further treatment plan then.

On a good news note: School holidays are nearly over and I was anxious to do a few nice things with my children before the end. Yesterday I brought them to Newgrange an ancient site in Ireland. I had never been there myself so was really excited to go. We went on a bus tour like tourists, it was great fun. Newgrange is 5,500 years old. This is older than Stonehenge in the UK, older than the pyramids, and obviously long before Jesus walked on earth. It is the oldest man-made roofed-structure on earth. The building's exact function is not known but it is aligned to the winter solstice, just as Stonehenge is aligned with the summer solstice. One of the theories is that it may have been something like a cathedral for these ancient people. Particularly fascinating was that it is built just like a Christian cathedral - facing the rising sun, and in a cruciform shape. The first known cross-shaped building ever made. Our tour also took us to see two high crosses at Monasterboice - enormous carved stone crosses from the 5th century, not long after Christianity came to Ireland, and to see the ruins of Melifont Abbey, an 11th century cistercian monastery. Ireland is full of ruined abbeys because Henry VIII laid waste to a lot of them. The good news is the cistercians are still here and have a lovely monastery not 10 mins away from the ruins.

    Love to all Susanna

St. Monica Novena - Day 1

St. Monica is a very powerful intercessor for all those to go to her for help.

She was the mother of St. Augustine who is a Doctor of the Church and a highly revered Saint, philosopher and theologian. St. Monica prayed for her wayward son and pagan husband fervently throughout her life.

After 17 years of prayer, St. Augustine converted and eventually became the great Saint we know him as today.

    Saint Monica Novena Prayers

Dear Saint Monica, you were once the mournful mother of a prodigal son. Your faithfulness to prayer brought you and your son so close to God that you are now with him in eternity. By your intercession and God’s grace, your son St. Augustine became a great and venerable Saint of the Church. Please take my request to God with the same fervor and persistence with which you prayed for your own son.

    (Mention your intentions here)

With your needs, worries and anxieties, you threw yourself on the mercy and providence of God. Through sorrow and pain, you constantly devoted yourself to God. Pray for me that I might join you in such a deep faith in God’s goodness and mercy.

Above all, dear Saint Monica, pray for me that I may, like your son, turn from my sin and become a great saint for the glory of God.

St. Monica is the Patron Saint of…

    Married women
    Mothers

MRI today 2:30!  Will keep you posted. Thank You, Lord for hearing our prayers and:

Thank You, Lord for allowing me to be alive and well this long. You have blessed me far more than I deserve or expected. You are My Rock.

Thank You, Lord, for trusting me with these sufferings, although with You as My Strength, the load has been lightened, and I feel that, with You at my side, I "can do all things" since you strengthen me.

Thank You, Lord for bringing me and my family closer to You. Our eyes have been opened and we understand so much more.

Thank You, Lord for loving me so much. Thank you for all the Blessings, especially the Gift of Salvation. You have loved me and my family so well that I feel no need to have a "bucket list", I feel no urge to "go there, do this". The only place I earnestly await is Your Presence in Heaven. I pray I'm considered worthy, that my sins, of which there are many, are forgiven, that I am welcomed by You and Your Mercy.

I pray, Lord, that you will forgive me for wanting a little more time here with my family before going Home, but I also pray for the desire to accept Your Will for me, even if that means flying to Your Arms before I'm ready. But I know that if I'm blessed with acceptance of Your Will, I will always be ready. And since I've been blessed with otherwise-good health and a symptom-free existence, I know there will eventually come a time when I start to deteriorate and will desire only You. I pray you accept me.

All these things I pray in the Mighty Name of Jesus, my Lord and Savior. Amen.

Susanna...You know that if ever the whole family takes a trip to see Auntie, my apartment is waiting!!!   It sounds like an amazing trip with the kids.  There's definitely nothing predating modern civilization like that in North America standing tall...lots of dinosaurs & buried artifacts, but what you describe is awesome, and with such relevance to the church!  What a great way to get the wee ones ready for a new school year...show & tell time!  I will pray DH has no psa showing when he retests!!!

Prayers to St. Monica today...I feel I'm keeping our saints very busy!!!

90% growth of cancer. It's still just in the liver - thank You, Lord.

Back on Perjeta, Herceptin, and Navelbine - all infusions. Require 2 weekly visits in a 3 week period, every month. Side effects are rough but it worked before - thank You, Lord.

I will be calling an Interventional Radiologist to see if he'll be willing to inject my liver with SIRT-spheres (radioactive microbeads).

    Thanks for all your prayers.
