Penny- I wrote a long note last night and somehow never hit send. I am praying for you daily and all of us. St Monica and St Augustine will interceed. Its not so good when the only choices are all wrapped with risk. I do know (retiredRN) that the chemo ablation done by interventional radiology can do a lot to blast those nasty cells, so hoping that may be an option for you. I pray any pain will  be under good control.  I am so sorry that you again must try to remain strong. The Lord is looking down on you so talk to him a lot. I do- Pretty sure my next door neighbor thinks I am talking to myself...ha. I pray while I'm driving too. Even that Dr who got the ebola virus said all tbe prayers said for him around the world helped.

Rene - you're so right.  When I came down with hepatitis-E back in May and had to be hospitalized, it went away on its own, without need of the anti-virus pills.  It was truly a miracle, and I attribute it to God, Who heard all the prayers of the saints, family, and friends.  Love, Penny

St. Monica Novena - Day 5

Dear Saint Monica, you were once the mournful mother of a prodigal son. Your faithfulness to prayer brought you and your son so close to God that you are now with him in eternity. By your intercession and God’s grace, your son St. Augustine became a great and venerable Saint of the Church. Please take my request to God with the same fervor and persistence with which you prayed for your own son.

    (Mention your intentions here)

With your needs, worries and anxieties, you threw yourself on the mercy and providence of God. Through sorrow and pain, you constantly devoted yourself to God. Pray for me that I might join you in such a deep faith in God’s goodness and mercy.

Above all, dear Saint Monica, pray for me that I may, like your son, turn from my sin and become a great saint for the glory of God.

    Amen.

St. Monica Novena - Day 9

God has blessed us in so many ways, it is often easy to forget His blessings. It is often easy to focus only on the bad things in life.

Today, let's thank God for all His blessings in our lives!

    Happy Feast of St. Monica!

I hope that this novena has brought you closer to God through St. Monica!

Here at Pray More Novenas, at the end of every novena, we always pray the following as our final prayer:

    Let us pray...

Dear Lord Jesus, I have specific requests that may only partially fill the infinite needs and desires that are in my heart. I ask that You answer me not only for those requests but also for a greater reliance on You to satisfy the needs and desires that You have given me.

Please grant the prayers of all those who prayed this novena with me. Bless them with Your love and make them holy!

May I seek You with a sincere heart knowing that it will profit me nothing if I gain the whole world yet lose my soul.

So, help me to see Your good and gracious purpose in all my trials. Help me to see Your blessings in every day and help me to love You more.

Thank You for everything, Lord Jesus!

    Amen.

Help with some clarification, please?  I've read where St. Agatha is the patron saint of breast cancer but also St. Peregrine is patron saint of ALL cancers.  A member of my choir sent me a St. Peregrine prayer card so I'm confused.

    Thanks and God Bless

I've heard the same thing.  Also, Blessed Zelie Martin, mother of St. Therese the Little Flower, suffered and died from breast cancer, so she's another good one.  St. Therese's father is also a Blessed but I forget his name.  I read a little booklet about the family - so interesting - very devout.

Walking my grandog in the sunshine in Cali, passing multiple churches, many pauses to thank God for His mercies.  I stopped for an iced coffee (pup needed water), just sneezed & a patio full of people said,  "Bless You!"  God is good!

I always admired when visiting my in-laws how they would sit down after dinner every night regardless and say the rosary in the living room together.  Since my DX, my husband started saying the rosary every night.  So I downloaded onto my phone the rosary and now I can say it where ever I am.  What a serene, peaceful time.  Hopefully, this will become our ritual as well.  God bless all.  We'll get through this!!!

The Novena for Marriage & Family

Our societies are built by families. And families are built by marriages.

When marriages suffer, families suffer. And when families suffer, society suffers.

So as we start The Novena for Marriage & Family, please join us in praying today for all marriages and families that are suffering in one way or another.

Let's pray for peace in their homes and in their hearts.

Let's pray for reconciliation for all.

Go to this website to receive daily reminders to pray this novena:

CJT...Rene and I both listen to the Catholic radio station rosary. I agree it's a serene, comforting time of day. I love that your dh has that special moment.  My dh has always been a much more prayerful (and altogether truly good) person than me!  I feel blessed when he says, "I prayed for you".  Thank you for your last sentence....we gotta believe!

    Mornin' All:
I am asking for your prayers for a friend whose son was in an ATV accident yesterday and MedFlighted to an area hospital.  The both of them need as many prayers as possible.  He is still in critical condition, presently in the OR for emergency surgery.  This young man is the greatest!!  When his Mom was going through BRCA a few years back, he was the most tremendous support for her.  She is a pediatric critical care nurse so being on the opposite side of the bed is the toughest.  Please keep all of that family in your prayers.

    Thanks and God Bless

My white blood cell count is still too low for chemo - even lower than last week. I've been so heavily treated with chemo for four years that my bone marrow has a tough time recovering after each treatment. I'm so tired but I have to trust in The Lord's Plan for me.

CJT511 Prayers. May God be with your friend and her son and their whole family.

Penny God bless you and your loved ones too. Be good to yourself. Maybe a bit of chemo-free time is good, you have been through so much - 4 years of it. Maybe getting a break from it will give YOU a chance to get stronger (as opposed to the cancer). XXX

Prayer is just amazing!!!!  Just got notice on FaceBook that my friend's son is turning the corner.  She was so afraid he was going to remain unresponsive but he squeezed her hand, opened up his eyes and started to cry.  Thank you all for your prayers for him.  I truly believe that we were the force behind this first step.  Please keep the prayers coming because this guy has alot of work ahead of him.  Thanks again.

    God Bless All

I just found this thread, and as I read it, my eyes are filled with tears.  I'm adding it to my favorite list   I became a catholic in 2000 and am still learning about this wonderful faith.  I were a St. Peregrine medal and I have a CD of the Rosary that I play at night after I am in bed. They say if you fall asleep saying the rosary, the Angels will finish it for you.  It's got me to rest many a sleepless night when the drugs didn't.

I would like to ask everyone here to pray for a friend I met on another thread when I was first diagnosed.   Her screen name is BigDbeatingBigC and she is from Dallas.  She was one of a couple of ladies who just reached out to me instantly and shared. Her dx was a little more serious than mine, and she was 2 months ahead of me in terms of addressing her treatment plan.   Not too long after being done, she started falling and her \blood tests showed slight elevation--after many tests and a head surgery with biopsy she has now been diagnosed with multiple myeloma and is having a rough time with the Zometa, the other thing she swallows that starts with a D and they are talking stem cell transplant.  Her anxiety and physical well being is declining.   God Bless to all for prayers offered up.

Welcome, Sandy.  I, too, was not raised Catholic.  My husband's grandmother, God rest her soul, led me to it.  I learn all I can about it - I have shelves of books LOL.

Prayer going up for your friend.  Please keep us posted.

Penny- am praying for a little respite for you.  Don't want you back in the hospital. Rest up.

CJ - prayers for your friend's son. Speedy recovery needed now.

Redheaded1- prayers for your friend also. Pray that some day there will be no need for Oncologists. The rosary is a must for me everyday too.I carry mine in my purse, and listen on Sacred Heart Radio every day. I find it so comforting - I never used to pray directly to specific saints but do now since I found this thread.

Prayers for your bone marrow to begin rejuvenation, Penny.  My counts were 12-20,000 when I started neulasta, now 5,000 is a big deal, bu that's fine for chemo.  I wish the navelbine wasn't so nasty...since it knocked the tumors out. Always prayerful.

CJ... Thanks to God for hearing the prayers of many!

Red...i like the thought of angels finishing your rosary.  When I can't sleep, I turn to prayers & find myself waking up....wondering where I left off :).  I have a sweet cousin whose daughter is a flight attendant with Alaska.  She sometimes takes quick exotic trips with her & visits churches to pray for me. She's brought rosaries to me from Rome, Paris & Dublin.  I cherish her & her love for me!

Feline...We took our little grandaughter to mass when we were in CA (parents went for coffee../sad face).  The Irish priest they had had just retired and their new one is from....Ireland!  I'm so happy that Josie's godmother was there and she said she was going to tell DS and DIL that they need to sign Josie up for religious ed and as godmother will help see she gets there, as she has a daughter that goes!  Thank you, Jesus!!!!

    God be with you all!

Redhead - prayers for BigD. Always sorry to hear of another sister's trouble - but that is what we are all here to help eachother for.

CJ - that is such good news that the young man is responding, please God his recovery will be a one way street back to health.

RonnieKay - wonderful news that you have some help with passing the faith on to your darling granddaughter. Sounds like a wonderfully conscientious godmother there.

We have some good news here in the form of Jamie's first post-surgery PSA test being negative, which is what it should be. As he had a very agressive cancer and one positive margin there was a bit of anxiety about this so thank God all as it should be.

    Love to all Susanna
