    can I ask for prayers for my hubby, I am improving from some of the side effects that I have been having, hubby had an accident, falling from a tree about a year ago, long term concussion which should have subsided, but with all the meds he is on, he is getting crankier, continuous headache, ringing in ears and minimal sleep. I feel I need to place this in Gods hands as he seems to be regressing instead of improving. Thank you all

    Jerseygirl -- Will certainly pray for you and your DH.... I'm also praying that DH's doctors figure out how to help him and that you both get the support you need to get through your daily lives.

    feelingfeline- and all you ladies here. I need a prayer for tomorrow as I have been picked as a jury duty alternate juror on a very horrible case. I am praying that the Lord will guide me or dismiss me from the case which may be two to three weeks to complete. Thankfully I don't believe it will be a death penalty situation but one this grandma is very disturbed by. Shocked

    Grammy R -- Sorry to hear that you may have to serve on such a disturbing case. Praying for you! I've only been picked for jury duty once, and my boss wrote a letter so I could be excused.

    I've been absent for a while...also had a down time losing Penny...but praying for all to be healed, to understand the meaning of our journey & to find peace in wherever it leads us, as well as our sisters.  Grammy...if you are on the case, we know it's because you will have the wisdom to find what is right and just in the trial.  But i do hope they don't need you. 

    Our Camino walk at church has begun (our parish is St. James so it concludes on the feast day).  Lots of miles to walk and time in prayer.   Jerseygirl...definitely will remember your DH.

    ElaineThere-RonnieKay- ladies .Thank the Lord. I was the last interview in court after over 200 or more potential jurors. I said I was Catholic and felt I could be objective being a retired RN . When the defense asked if I would believe what a 10 year old child would say in this " Rape of a child " case. I said "yes "I would and that I have young grandchildren. I was dismissed. Anyway I went back to tbe waiting room and was told by other folks waiting that it was over as he had taken a guilty plea for reduced sentense. So once again the good Lord not only guided me but perhaps hopefully guided this young man. I doubt if I could have made it through a 3 week trial but wanted to do the right thing.

    Grammy, I am a retired Circuit Clerk and you said just what you needed to say...... I just hope this poor child victim recovers from this trauma and the defendant gets on the straight and narrow path.....

    The funniest thing I ever heard anyone say in court was when the Judge was getting ready to sentence a fellow and they have the defendant stand up, and the Judge asked "is there anything you'd like to say before I pronounce your sentence?" And the defendant took out his bifold wallet, opened it up, held it to his mouth and said "Beam me up now Scotty".......

    Grammy I have been on holidays so only saw your posts now. Glad you were spared the rtrial, I am sure it would have been distressing indeed, and thank gGod for the guilty plea and you saying the right thing.


    RonnieKay - XXX re Penny. No-one who knew her could be untouched, we are lucky to have known her. I thought of her a lot on hols and prayed for her and her family. She had only 46 years and I have just reached 48. Penny's life is a real reminder to be grateful for the time given and to make the most of it.

    feelingfeline..... When's your birthday? I just turned 48, too (yesterday). I think of Penny every morning when I silently say to myself, "Amen for the morning."

    Grammy..... Yes, I'm glad you were spared jury duty for such an unpleasant case. Hopefully, just was done.

    DS just registered to go to World Youth Day 2016, in Krakow. There are a whole build up of local events. leadership courses etc from now til next July for those going from the Dublin Diocese. He is just back from the Dublin Diocesan pilgrimage to Taize Monastery in France where it was 40 degrees in the shade so he is a bit brown! Taize is sort of like a permanent World Youth Day, it has become part of the mission of the monastery to host thousands of young people from all over the world in an atmosphere of love and fellowship. There were about 3000 young pilgrims there while DS was there.

    feelingfeline, your DS sounds like my DD. DD loves going to Catholic youth conferences and gatherings. I'm happy that DD enjoys sharing her faith with other young people, and that our parish has an active youth group that sponsors her participation in service work and youth conferences.

    Happy belated b-days to all the July Ladies My dad was 88 on July 2! I was 58 in April....we got some real young'uns on this board.....Love you all. Bet Penny is grinning about all of us remembering her AMEN in the a.m. Such a small thing making such a big ripple in all of our lives. Just proves it doesn't take a whole lot be a blessing sometimes.. RIP.

    We celebrated our Blessed Virgin Mary's parents, Saints Joachim and Anne today during Mass which in turn meant celebrating all Grandparents. I hope those of you who are grandparents feel honored and blessed today and those whose grandparents are still alive, get a chance to say hello and let them know how lucky you feel to have them in your lives.

    Thank you for your blessings!  It's truly a special gift to be surrounded by grandchildren at mass...how wonderful for you!  We celebrated the Feast of St. James at mass today.  It's usually our parish picnic but due to predicted rain/electrical storms, it's next week.  It's also the culmination of our Camino walk...our mini version of the pilgrimage to Santiago deCampostele, the place of St. James' burial.  I would love to devote a month to walking in our patron saint's footsteps.  Has anyone here done/hoped to do the Camino?

    Red...I love sharing my bday with your Dad & hope to be 88 some day...he'll be 115 :-)

    I wanted to post pix from today's celebration but doing something wrong-again!  Love, healing & peace to all.

    Today I became the godmother of my sweet baby neice! It was an amazing service at the national shrine of the little flower a truely beautiful church. So thankful for days like this!

    about 5 years ago I went to Spain for the first time and we drove along the route by bus that the pilgrims were making to compastelo. I was unfamiliar with the pilgrimage but when I got to the cathedral I was just taken aback, it was beautiful, old, cold, and wonderful. I am now 64 and do not think it could ever happen, but if and when I get to heaven, I would love to be on that journey, . It was marvelous watching all the pilgrims along the road, hundreds throughout out 8 day stay in Spain. Clean, green, just rich in history. Thank you God for allowing me to experience this in my lifetime.

    RonnieKay I have never done the Camino but being from Ireland, I know many people who have. The president of the photography club I belong to is just back from his pilgrimage and my next-door-neighbour's daughter has done it 3 times!!! She is similar age to myself (40's) but not married, no kids so has a little more ease in taking the time than some people her age might. (She is a wonderful "girl", she has also volunteered with aid organisations in Africa and Romania, using her own holidays).

    Have you seen the Martin Sheen/Emilio Estefez movie "The Way"? I was genuinely excited to see that film when it came out a few years ago and it did not disappoint. We just re-watched it (for about the 6th time) on DVD the other night. Every time I see it I see new things in it, It is a masterpiece. They filmed on a low budget, using no extras so absolutely all the people in the background are the real pilgrims that they met along The Way. The film team also experienced many miracles big and small as they journeyed along The Way. Many of the stories are recounted in the father/son book Martin Sheen and Emilio Estefez wrote after making the film.

    If you've seen it you probably know all this, if you haven't I really recommend it as a beautiful filmSmile
