thank you for the prayers for my bro. He is hoping to have a mild leukemia (like my other brother's). He is meeting with the oncologist Wednesday. I fear from his symptoms that it will be much worse and am hoping and praying that he gets 'good' news Wednesday.

I started a novena today leading up to the feast day on March 3 for Saint Katharine Drexel for the intention of all of the women here. Saint Katharine Drexel is literally our local saint since her shrine is just down the road from me. I had never known about her until I moved to this area a few years after she was beatified, and was here when she was cannonized.

Hello everyone,
Quick update...Did my bloodwork and got an EKG (all okay)..had to answer a few questions with the study coordinator and double check insurance verification,,I'm pooped. BUT tomorrow I will find out friends..Its all in God's hands. I'll find out also if I get randomized for the new drug. Looks like chemo will be on Wed. Let's keep on praying!!

Pure: The PARP clincial study is chemo with or without the new PARP inhibitor for TN - met bc. This is a very promissing new drug for us TN's who can become chemo resistant. I am almost there.
St. Peregrine & St. Katherine: Please continue the intecessory prayers for all our sisters & brothers suffering and provide peace and comfort to us all.

LMFSM - no guilt about mass, it is more important that what is in your heart and soul than checking off attendance in mass! Mass always helps me connect more but I try not to have guilt when I can't attend, that is not the point IMHO.

Day two of the Novena to St Katharine Drexel. She was born into a very wealthy Philadelphia family that founded Drexel University among other accomplishments. She is the Foundress of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. They have a focus on bringing the gospel and the Eucharist to Black and Native American peoples. They have a significant presence in the area around New Orleans, including Xavior University, and run an orphanage in Haiti.
The Motherhouse for the order can be seen from Route 95, just north of the Philadelphia border. St Katharine is enshrined there.

Hello!
Just received the call from UCLA & I'M IN!! I start tomorrow. Unfortunately I didn't get randomized for the new PARP drug (It will be chemo, Carbo & Gemzar) but they will monitor me very closely and if they see progression, I can crossover to receive the new drug.. Nonetheless, I am happy. I didn't have Plan B if I didn't get in..so whew. I will be doing chemo each Wed. on day 1 & 8 then take a week break for a cycle of 21 days. After 2 cycles I'll get a CT scan. I'm in the trial for 2 years or until progression. Let's hope this works!
Michelle: Thank you so much for your kind thoughts & prayers..(they're working)..You are too sweet. I know your DH will find a better position. I am praying.
Laura: I am also praying hard for your business to survive. You're an incredible spirit! We love you too

Oh yeah, Thank God for answered prayers. You are in the best place in the west. I have done much work in my professional life at UCLA and it is just the best and the best Docs around. You are in good hands. I just think you are going to do great, my prayers are for your continued health! Carbo is a very strong chemo and it works! Watch your white counts (neutrophils) and make sure you get neupogen or neulasta when needed. Strong, long term chemo can be tough but it has saved many! (my Stepmoms best friend is a 12 year survivor of the same type of situation)

Thank you Michelle. I am a little bummed I'm not getting the PARP now but it's all in the Lord's hands. Yes UCLA told me they're going to watch my counts (& everything closely). I'm also having it on Day 8 so I'm ready to do this & kick this cancers butt. I'm happy to hear about your step-moms friend. I need all the motivation I can get! But I know God is with me. (Do you know how many rounds she did?) I'm going to try to stick with it as long as I can.

Hi everyone, I haven't been posting for a while ( my hip's been bothering me again) but I have been reading and Jeannine that's great news, I'm glad for you. I did manage to get to Tuesday night Mass and I said prayers for everyone while there. When I was leaving I met a lady and she introduced herself and we talked about my hip bothering me and this virtual stranger said a prayer for me and my hip. I thought that was so nice. I have been running into the nicest people lately. I'm always glad when I go to Mass, but I was especially glad that I went last night.

Jeannine my Stepmom's friend was on chemo for one year! (really harsh chemo)
I would also look into taking COQ10 it specifically targets healing the heart muscle and may be beneficial to you.
Tarry - are you on Anti Estrogen meds? If so many many have had problems with their hips on these meds.

Hello!
Day 1 @ UCLA went great. Was there for 3 hours but the time flew. Took my water, banana, Joyce Meyer "Never Give Up" book and Ipod. So far no SE's. I was a little bummed at first I wasn't getting new drug at first but when I found out I made it out of 3 people I was content. Many didn't qualify. Dr. told me she was very happy I made it (her patient did not) and that I can get drug later. She said only because of my perseverance and efforts did I get in. She said I was an inspiration to all. That got me choked up. I must say the Lord does answer prayers and if it wasn't for staying steadfast in faith, I don't believe I'd be in. (& we KNOW that's hard to do).
Apple: I am putting your lil' brother on my prayer line. He's lucky to have your love and support.

How is Lent going for everyone? I've found it's been easier than I thought to give up wine...I just don't buy it and when it's not in the house I don't miss it. Maybe if it isn't such a sacrifice, I should give something else up?
