"Show me your ways, O Lord,
Teach me your paths;
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
For you are God my Savior,
And my hope is in you all day long."
~Psalm 25:4-5
I pray for God to put his healing shield around us and guide us through each day.

My heart goes out to all the military men and women who have in the past and are currently protecting our country and freedom. So many won't be able to spend this 4th of July weekend with their family and friends. They are in my prayers, and I thank them for their service to our country.
Adorable picture, Laura!!
Have a wonderful and SAFE 4th of July weekend everyone!
God bless,

Hi Sisters in faith! I have been praying for all of you while I was off the boards! I spent 10 days visiting my step kids in Wilmington, then came back, quit my job and started a new one...so it has been busy!
Apple....sorry for your loss...happy for your mom! Heaven...I just can't wait! I hope you have many good memories to sustain you until you see her again! And I just LOVE adoration! I go every Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9 PM at a nearby church. Candles, incense, songs of praise! And quiet time too! I bring Volume 2 of DFOT's books, " Conversations with the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus!" It is WONDERFUL to read during Adoration! If you don't have it, you can download for free from their website!
Fand F, I just listened to Molly and the tears were flowing! Just as with Apple....so happy for Saint....but gosh the kids go through so much without their mom nearby! Thankfully she obviously has instilled great faith in her children which is the only thing to get us through all the losses we experience in this short life! Thank you for sharing the link!
Nancy....how is your aunt doing?? Hope you enjoy your time off! The weather has been outstanding in NY, hasn't it?? Makes me grin!
Laura.....you keep kicking cancer's butt and and don't let the weight gain get to you! It takes time....I know I find myself obsessing from time to time, but I am getting better at acceptance of the foobs, the lack of strength, the flabby everything else BUT FOOBS! HA! Every once in awhile I recall the line from one of Anne's volumes.."Take care of your body, respect it, but don't idolize it". So wise...
So I just took the month of June off from Tomoxifen...I just wanted to see how I would feel without it. I just went back on July 1 and I am sooo tired today. Not sure if it is the T or just all the energy put into the new job. So I am just going to rest up this weekend and continue to put it all in perspective!
Blessings to our new Catholic sisters here....so glad you joined us! Can you imagine how our prayers are being multiplied when each of us prays for all our Catholic BCO sisters and their intentions? How generous are all of you! Of course, we pray for ALL our BCO sisters, but I am so comforted to know each of you is remembering all of us here! God is soooo good and soooo generous!
And may God continue to bless America! Happy 4th!

just sharing a bit about my marvelous VERY Catholic brother John. (it's a novel) Every Catholic in Kansas City knows him.. Estepp - have you run across him? you are a bit out of our area.
I have this marvelous autistic brother. He has been living with my mom who just died. She gave him the house (or the money therein) to provide for his future. He really shouldn't live on his own.. he needs support. I'd like to have come live with us on our new property which has 2 acres of virgin farm. He would adore taming and shaping it, being a farmer at heart. We could build him his own apartment or little cottage. He is totally independent of emotional needs. He just doesn't form close relationships or depend on people. We would totally benefit from his 'management' of the property but he does stupid things sometimes.
I don't want to dump his care on my husband tho if if I don't last a long time.. mr. husband says he'd be fine with that but I don't know.
-------- from my John Notes file... 2005
"I spent Saturday with my brother, John. He was born 16 months after I was. When my mom was just about to deliver, the nurses pushed his head back inand gave her a drug to slow the contractions. When he was finally born 10 days later he arrived blue with a cord around his neck. It was determined when he did not learn to talk, that he was brain damaged altho we consider him part of the autistic spectrum. He needed constant supervision as kid... he would walk off the porch, run away or do something socially unacceptable like take off his clothes, so I was his constant companion. He could count and build things. I'd set him up with sand, tinkertoys or blocks. He would build a building or count the pieces. He learned to talk around age 5, got into a special education class and revealed a marvelous aptitude for mathematics and memorization. He literally knew every baseball statistic he ever encountered and could do complex computations.. multiplying 6 digit numbers by 4 digit numbers in his head. He somehow graduated from college and got a job with the post office. He looks normal and seems to speak normally but he has a Jerry Lewis aura about him that is very unusual.
My mother sold her 5500 sq. ft. home and is moving officially into her small bungalow on Monday along with John. Saturday I helped my brother pack the things in his room. He's an odd one - a very obsessive compulsive type. He saves things just like my mom.. all the prescription bottles he's gone thru, all the toothpaste lids he's owned.. every receipt for every thing he has ever bought - neatly categorized and shoeboxed, spreadsheets and computer printouts itemizing expenditures by category. I am trying to throw these things out without him knowing.
He is a very Christian man, taking to the heart the teachings of the gospel. He grows spinach, corn and tomatoes for soup kitchens, mows the lawns of the poor elderly for free, and volunteers at a soup kitchen. John has probably grossed $500,000.00 in his career at the post office, and has probably given $400,000.00 away. In his closet were 10 shoeboxes of thankyou letters. Many of the letters were from missions in central and south America, Africa and New Guinea.. Hundreds of the letters were handwritten.
"Dear John, Thank you for the 50 dollars. My wife had not been to the grocery store in 3 weeks. We've been hurting for a long time and are touched by your generosity."
"Dear John, Thank you for painting my house (big sister Mary interjecting - "I wonder what it looked like"). Your friend Mrs. Sweeney".
Every year John does a thing called the Crop Walk. 3 months before the event, John walks the neighborhoods of Kansas City searching for sponsors to sponsor him per mile. 3 months after the events he walks to the their houses and collects the money.. every penny accounted for. The Walk I think, is probably 20 miles.. John walks it twice. The top donating person under John usually brings in about 100 dollars.. John somehow collects about 7000.00 a year. Every year they try to schedule a television interview with him. He says he'll be there but skips out to go collect the money.
He was really angry with me yesterday.. He owns about 500 board games.. They are all the same but he multiplies the components, so that Monopoly for instance, will have doubly populated neighborhoods and a bank of 5 million dollars. His games are a big problem because they really won't fit into the new house. He doesn't want to donate them because they are not finished. I kept breaking the rubber bands he has saved for 20 years to put around the boxes when he moves because they are so old. "Please Mary - be gentle with the rubber bands. They are my pride and joy."
I somehow got all his stuff over to the new house. He just called my up to ask me where the receipts for the spinach seeds were.. He has called me 5 times today about those silly seeds and their receipt."
--------------- last nite i had him come over for dinner. 2010 (July)
I told him that now that he was on his own he'd have to watch his manners.. and he did. People watch him eat and turn away because he is sooooo very slurpy. He said he was in trouble with the post office for going slow. He was going slow because he wasn't sleeping good because he missed mom.
However, he seems suddenly very clear thinking and open minded. I took a picture of him after dinner. this is probably one of the best pictures i have of him. It helps that he had a REAL haircut to match the suit we made him buy. (I think my other bro orchestrated that so his new girlfriend wouldn't be adverse to him). he usually freezes/cheeses up for the camera, makes a funny face or just looks off into the near distance.
I am the oldest of 9, John is #2. All the younger siblings have a totally different perspective of John. They found him horribly embarrassing while they were growing up.. and rightly so. John is the type who would go up to a mother with young children and ask if she was breastfeeding.. We still have to keep an eye on him. I have to teach him about getting stains out of his clothes and not touching his shirt while eating.
mr. apple will be fine about taking care of John if I pass on. I've taken care of both his parents in their dotage and failing and also his Down's syndrome brother. He's a loving, giving man and very devoted to family.
We are really family challenged at the moment . I have been feeding his father (and his brother 4 days a week) for 10 years now. Suddenly at 92, Grandpa is rapidly deteriorating.. He can't walk over any more. (He managed to renew his driver's license tho on his birthday.. but a week of deterioration has gone by).. I better go see to him. My kids are taking this all in stride fortunately.
John has gone to Mass at least once a day since he was 22.

Hi all you wonderful women! I've been so-o-o busy, first with work...getting ready for my time-off. Then with family arriving last week. The last of them are leaving today (I have to drive my son home later), but I have some quiet moments now with my coffee.
We used to have a family reunion every July, but with my father dying last September, and my older sister now not traveling due to her cancer, it looked like there wouldn't be anything this year. But my brother wanted to come since we may be putting the family house on the market soon, and this might have been his last chance to stay here. I suspect though, that the house will take some time to fix up and then sell.
I've been asking my aunt to come up this past weekend for as long as we've known my brother and his family were coming to town. She kept turning me down, politely but firmly. Then, out of the blue, last week she called and said she would like to come on Saturday. She had a few stipulations (had to be home early, no rambunctous dogs...), but they were easily met. I picked her up and she had a lovely afternoon with us, having lunch, sitting around the pool, and one of my brothers took her home at 4:30.
She's progressed to just using a cane, but she admits to sometimes using the walker because it has a seat attached to it. So if she gets tired walking down the streeet, she can stop and rest. She says she also thinks it gets her some sympathy service at the store and said, "At my age, I'm not above that."
I'm on vacation now until 7/19...two weeks which is longer than my boss likes us to take at one time. But things are quiet and my billing time would be very low anyway. What better time to take some of my vacation? Sometimes, my boss can be such a workaholic.
Apple, your brother John sounds like a perfect candidate for a little monestery. Five hundred years ago he would have probably become Brother John and fit right into the ordered life.
OK, maybe next week I'll start another novena. We need to pray for Lindsay Lohan's soul, lol. (Just kidding)

Hello my beautiful sisters,
Apple, I was so touched by your story of your brother, John. Thank you so much for sharing! I am enjoying the summer so far (off from work as a school counselor). These are my goals for the summer: 1. get in shape ( I have been going to the gym with my daughter almost every day) 2. See my grandson as much as possible (they live in DC, about 4 hours south of me), 3. pray my rosary every day (things always seem to go smoother when I do) 4. continue learning about dragon boat racing ( I joined a team of bc survivors). Thank you Jesus and Mary!

WHAT did Lohan do NOW?????? Nancy, I know your Novena ministry was missed.. you are a gem of a soul!
Ladies...
A woman here on BCO.. SHERRY.... is dealing with the possibility of another DX of BC. I think it is the same breast... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
She is a tough chick... has a GREAT faith in our Father...... but I KNOW... this is scaring her some.. just like it would us.
Right now.. as you read this.. could you PLEASE ask our Father to Heal her. IF there is any cancer there.........CLEAN her body of this before the doctor can see it on the MRI.
If she does have cancer... again..... OUR LORD can take it away before the doctors can see it!
Please ask our Father to help her!
"Lord.... I have a feeling, Sherry's cancer is back. ONLY YOU can take it away BEFORE the doctor's can say it is cancer. Father, I/we do NOT need proof that there is cancer BEFORE You heal her. I/we KNOW you can take the cancer away now...PLEASE do this for us Jesus. When Sherry tells us the tests come back clear... we will ONLY give the credit to you , knowing... YOU are the one who did this... YOU took it away from her..!
THANK YOU Father... Thank you SO SO much. I love you dearly! Thank you for walking the walk for me, as I am a sinner... and you are my Savior! Amen!'
I feels so good.. knowing that He can heal all... just by our 100% faith.
AMEN!

Estepp.. i promise you I'll come visit in a couple months.. my hair is long actually, but we're at 11 days and counting.. i spent the last couple days at the cancer center doing tests in preparation for my next drug.. a pill a day and a shot once a month.
Nancy.. I agree. John would be a perfect candidate for a monastery. We have 4 years to figure it out. I think he needs love, family love or just people around him.
prayers for Sherry.

Laura...Lindsay's going to jail for 90 days. I think it's for breaking her probation.
I'll be back regularly soon, but right now, on vacaton, I'm not following any schedule, and quite frankly, cancer hasn't been on my mind very much. It's a very relaxing feeling but I know all the old thoughts will be coming back once I'm back at work,
I've got to find a new OB/GYN. My doctor of over 30 years is retiring the beginning of August. I have one last appointment with him the end of July. Bittersweet...he delivered both my children and attended me during a miscarriage. And found my ovarian cancer so early that all I needed was the ovary removed.
He did the blood tests we needed when my ex and I got married.
I saw him every six months...more than any other dr, even my onc. Unfortunately, my bc didn't become palpable until just over a month after I saw him, just before my annual mammogram (he wrote the scrip but I procrastinated until after the holidays). But he got me through the beginning stages when I was sacred out of my wits.
When I last saw him, I was breastless but healthy. This last time, I will have breasts again and STILL be healthy, God willing.
Then the search begins for another dr as caring and worthy of my patronage.

Thanks for sharing your story Nancy. Hard to find a doctor when you have history with another...I hope you can!
Ladies. please keep Sherry in your thoughts...prayers...
I will try to find out more on her situation..

Will keep Sherry in my prayers. Let us know what you find out, Laura.
Big weekend here...daughter's wedding is Saturday! I should be in bed by now but am so wound up from such a busy day. I've really been overdoing it lately since my exchange 3 months ago, and my left breast is really sore and tender. Will have BS check it out when I have time.
Record breaking 95 here in the Seattle area today, but not as bad as some of you folks. At least summer has finally arrived here in Washington.
Have a great weekend everyone! Keeping you all in my prayers.
God bless,
~Jan

Jan...best wishes to the bride and groom. How exciting! I'll pray for their life together this weekend.
The heat's on again here in NY. 90s or higher all through the weekend, even into next week. Makes me wish I was at work where it's nice and air conditioned. We have central AC here at home, but it's costing a fortune to run 24/7. Here's what it's like: I'm watching the Today Show and it's raining pretty strongly there. I'm just 30 mles away and I still have sunny blue skies. Go figure.

We just did the " rain" thang again , here is the midwest... We had the great heat for a few good weeks. i miss it! I love 90+ weather. It is about my favorite. I have a pool... so this is great pool weather... Today is going to be no humidity and like 83 or so. Most people LOVE that weather.. me.... well.... I will be cold this evening.
Jan.. AWESOME the time is hear for your daughter!!!! How fun. Try to have fun at the reception yourself... not just running around WORKING.....hehe...
XXXOOO for a great weekend ladies.
We have the grandkids overnight Sat.. wahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

We've started having some rain...nothing major, yet, just some brief showers. But, the sky has stayed cloudy so I think that's how it's going to be for the rest of the day. Today in the 80s; tomorrow back up to the 90s. if we didn't get some rain this weekend, I was going to add that to the novena I start next week, lol.

Hello ladies! I have been keeping each of you and your intentions in my prayers! I started a new job 2 weeks ago and spent last week training up in Boston. NO TIME FOR MYSELF! I did manage to get to Mass 3 out of the 4 days, and I even got to visit sacred Heart Church which is where my MIL was baptized 95 years ago! She died this past April, so I wanted to visit the church in her honor....
Nancy...LOVE your picture! You look BEAUTIFUL!!! And did you lose weight with the hair length! FABULOUS! So glad your aunt joined you....familes can be so difficult and so fun!
Apple....your brother sounds like a saint! Thank you so much for sharing him with us.....I have an 18 y/o neice with CP....she has an IQ of 70, and many physical ailments....but she too grounds our family in innocence and we are blessed to have her. I often read that what the good Lord wants from each of us as we practice the Golden Rule...is humility! I find that to be so difficult...especially in a world of "me first", "I am the best", etc.....but these family members can really humble you and make you realize what is really important in life.
Prayers for Sherry, today! Prayers for my BCO Catholic sisters and all their intentions.
God Bless!

Hello everyone!
I've been getting ready to start RADS on Tuesday. Can you believe @ 10:00 p.m? Tech said they are swamped. Something isn't right about so many cancer patients. Also a little worried about some lumpy scars near MSX incision. Is this normal? I just couldn't take another recurrence...especially after reading a tread about recurrence after msx...No! I know the Dear Lord knows I can't go through this again.
Laura: I did PM Kittykat and gave her some info. I sure hope she can get into a study. I told her I'll keep her posted. I too feel the weight gain and lack of confidence. This bc sure works a # on you.
Nancy: You look incredible! Beautiful!! Have a great vacation.
Jan: Congrats on the wedding! I pray it is wonderful.
Apple: Thanks for sharing your brother John with us. What an amazing family you have!My son turned 11 on Thursday. I am so blessed I got to celebrate with him.
Continuing the prayers and intentions for all on BCO and Sherry. In Jesus name Amen!
