Hey everyone, I too feel so sorry for losing Clair or anyone to this disease!!! Dab nastit!!!!!

I am in the Vail Valley part of CO. It is very beautiful and different from where I am from. The snow is melting very fast since it is nice and warm during the day so the rivers are raging. DD is feeling some better (at least she is awake more). So we have been trying to fit in some fun between PT appts. Yesterday we got our nails done and today it was facials. I have to go along to keep her company. The role of a caregiver is very strick. I have to admit I had never had a facial before, but now I am a convert. It was lovely!!

So sad to hear about cmbear.  Always a shock to learn of another soul gone from earth do to the beast.

I have added a remembrance icon to the top for cmbear.  It's a tequila sunrise.  Why?  Well, I remember she had done some actual bartending.  Also, she liked to show up here with many virtual libations for our enjoyment.  Also, she was from Orlando, place of many a nice sunrise.  So, see that and remember her (and not your own lost weekends!)

    ------------------------------------

Glossary of OP icons displayed up top:

Orange ribbon:  "Unofficial" ribbon of the hot flash.  Also, disdain of the pink ribbon.  Also, conveniently the color of Cheetos dust on your fingers.

Cheetos:  "Official" snack of Unity on this thread.  If you don't care for them, just say you do anyway.

Orange flowers:  Remembering PauldingMom, Lisa, who had similar flowers in her avatar.

25,000+:  That many posts and more!

Dragon boats:  Remembering reesie, Marie, who raced in them.

Heart cookies:  Remembering Marybe, who had a lot of heart & always took time to bake for an ailing friend, incl. mailing them to BCO friends.

Tequila sunrise:  Remembering cmbear, Claire.  See above.

O.K., that's enough.  Don't want any more icons up there.  Please!!!

So sorry to hear about Claire!  I've been off the boards for several months and sometimes being away helps maintain a little "denial" break!  But its going to take a long while to catch up on all the postings!Loopy  Welcome to all the newbies!  I passed my 2 year "cancerversary" without realizing it! (April 3).  Hoping to get my tatts this summer before I turn 60!  ....Hugs to all!

Very sorry to hear about cmbear :( I enjoyed her posts also. Good with the tequila sunrise El :)

Momine, love the doctors on protest!

Chacha, good to see you hon. Good luck with the tats.

On baby watch/wait ... dd is due 6/3 with her 2nd child. Neither of my girls found out the sex of their first, and Lauren didn't for this one either, so I'm very curious to know if I have my first granddaughter or my 3rd grandson. My prayers are for another healthy child. Talked to her today and she is doing so well - it's been a very good preg for her. She had a lot of issues with the first, nothing serious...just "stuff"...and this one has been a piece of cake.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Enjoy your Sunday ladies :)

Is Marlegal a 3x grandma yet?

Thanks E.  This picture represents all high school culture groups.  On the far left, in red (our school color) is the head cheerleader, our fearless leader who is a wonderful organizer of high school reunions & 60 birthday bashes.  Then there's me-in high school I went from being the "good" girl type to the major stoner by senior year!  To my right is the band geek who I went to grade school with & is an absolute hoot!!!! I hadn't spent time with her since girl scouts!! and last, but not least, is the brain-iac!  Plus she was the principal's kid!  Tortured teenage years!  Successful career, marriage & very lovely (I didn't know her real well in school for some reason Loopy

If I thought I could get away with it. HappyI live right next door to a high school & my daughter (19, almost 20) pitched a fit when I mentioned medical marijuana 5 yrs ago, so I don't think that will work.  But I have the utmost respect for those who choose to indulge.  I really see no difference between cannabis & alcohol as far as impairment issues go.  Edited to add: probably should have just pled the 5th Winking

I am so excited! I will be volunteering with the Canadian cancer society as an outreach volunteer! This will give me the opportunity to share information about cancer as well as my own story!

    Whoop!

Hockey starts again tonight ! Can't wait!

It may sound silly but I feel so good sometimes that I get scared that the chemo is not doing anything. So far SEs have been minimal thankfully but it makes me wonder

    Silly where our thoughts go!

Tonight we leave for Niagara Falls. Going to the shaw festival Friday, stomp on Sunday and we must hit buffalo!!  I told DH that sometimes I feel like I must live in a bubble while going through chemo.

He has encouraged me to go and said that it will be good for us as I have been getting depressed again lately. So off we go.

    Have a good day all!!!!

EPH, great picture! I was lucky enough to see the  Chuhily  exhibit at the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden before we moved. It was amazing seeing his glass work in such a natural environment! We went late in the afternoon so we got to stay and see it at night. Beautiful!!! And a great picture of all of you! Maybe you should talk to your daughter about her judgement of using medical marijuana. I have a friend that has her medical card and swears by it. I haven't tried it but have thought about it. Really, which is worse, taking a pill to relieve my anxiety and help me sleep or taking a few puffs? Just sayin!

On my own, i hadn't touched pot for 15 years. But a friend of a friend gave me some excellent brownies for chemo, etc. And, once in a while, if i am really hurting, i do taste a small sample, and it reduces pain greatly, and, motivates me to do more things around the house than i would otherwise do.  i keep it in the freezer, and take it medicinally. i am thinking about getting a card, and my girl friend already gave me an address. so there.

I was told that no one at my hospital would approve a medical marijuana license. But everybody knows somebody. Lol

I haven't had any issues with SEs but can't drink alcohol so........

    Lol

Barbe-I can not even beginning to express how in awe I was at that museum - definitely worth being on your bucket list.  I wasn't even familiar with Chuhily until a conversation between you (and I think Mad Beach).  you were talking about him.  So when I was told that the exhibit is there at the base of the space needle I made sure to go.  UNBELIEVEABLE!!!

OOOoooh, that makes me want to go SO bad!!! My brother lives in Vancouver and my sister in Portland, so we fly into Vancouver and drive down to her. We really should do it again with a stop-off in Seattle..... I needed to hear how amazing it was. I think it was a display in Arizona or some other desert area where Mad Beach and I were talking about someone`s pics.

I was out at the Dale Chihuly Garden of Glass a couple years ago, as a side leg to my Alaskan cruise.  I thought I had written about it on this thread, but double checked and found that it was on another (and I had posted the pic below.)  I didn't go for the paid admission, only seeing what I could from the perimeter.

    image

It wasn't the cheapskate in me that kept me from going in, but I had limited time that day.   Many years ago I saw a whole museum exhibit of his works (many of them smaller than more recent pieces.)   My then-toddler looked at one orb shaped one and exclaimed, "Baaaaaaw" (ball) and reached out.  Well, everything was roped off so there was no chance that my kid could try to bounce it, thankfully, but it was good for a laugh.  His work is far and wide now.  There was an exhibit in Phoenix, which is probably the one you mean, Barbe.  The Dallas Art Museum has a ginormous permanent suspended installation.  I think his work is fabulous!
