karen...yuck! We already had a school storm day 3 wks ago! Crazy fall weather! The snow melted but the temps have stayed crappy. I am living on a prayer that we don't see anymore accumulations for another month or so. Glad you got out for a walk...I bet it's beautiful out! I love the Denver area! Enjoy your storm day!

Lilac..you sound as busy as ever!! Having a group to run with in the dark is one of the reasons I decided to register for group. 2nd reason is, it gets cold in ND in the winter and I can only take a treadmill and indoor track for so long before I want to poke my eyes out from boredom! It's nice to have people expecting you to show up and makes those frigid runs a little more fun when you can all bitch together about how cold it is! And I really want to run a full marathon again next spring so this will insure I get my wkly long runs in in Jan & Feb. Those are the runs I tend to skip when it's cold. Easier to talk yourself into a quick 4miles when it's -10* outside than a long run of 11 miles! Why do we live here???

Ran 5.5 miles last night. Strength, yoga and foam rolling tonight

It's back to work tomorrow!! Semi-productive day today. Made a dent in the furnace room - threw out junk and took a few bags to Goodwill. Still lots more to do. Went through 2 boxes from my parents - it was all pictures - found my mother's wedding picture she was gorgeous!! A few old pictures, but many were ones I sent my folks of the kids and DH and me - took them out of the frames and gave the frames away. Forgot about 2 boxes of votive candles in glass holder (one blue, the other purple) that I bought for older DD wedding in 2009 and younger DD Bat Mitzvah in 2010. Need to give them away. 2 dozen light blue are new, but the 3 dozen purple have been lit but still a good amount of wax to burn in them. Lots more to go through - some from my late parents and more that is ours. We have a big crawl space too that is easy to put stuff in and out of sight out of mind. We have 2 wetsuits that we haven't used in close to 35 years - I guess its time to give them away!!! I figure it will take a good while (year plus) to go through it all and get rid of stuff - and there will still be too much left. Need to finish the furnace room before the crawl space. I was tasked with going through all my folks stuff and we are now having to do the same with my MIL. I don't want to leave it all for my kids in 20+ years!

Didn't get any work for work done though! I need to do a 45 minute presentation on Monday afternoon that I want done before the week-end. Its on special education for new SW staff (who get very little special ed training in school). Also managed to get a haircut.

Finally hit 15+K today - couple slow walking days this week - Yesterday I didn't even get to 10K!

    Sweet dreams

Karen - great progress with cleaning out. That’s a great way to spend the unexpected time off of work. I really need to make time to do the same and FORCE myself to actually get rid of stuff. I also don’t want to leave a ton of work for my daughter to deal with. I did learn that she doesn’t want any of our belongings. She’s not sentimental about stuff plus she has her own decorating style. So that should make it easier.

I have been running a bit in the morning in the dark with a flashlight . Other mornings I go to the gym and lift weights, but most of the time I’m late so I have to cut my workout s

GoKale4320 I use knuckle lights (you can find them on Amazon)--that way I slip one on my hand and don't have to grip it.

Zumba & Yoga this morning, ran around with the puppies at the Dog Park this afternoon, hope to get more exercise tonight by running up & down the stairs answering the doors for Trick-or-Treaters.

Had fun with the face paint before using it on the little DS this morning.

imageDoes walking the cul de sac count as exercise? Did that tonight with two six year olds.

chair cardio - I find it a nice way of keeping abs strong to do seated sometimes(used to do it all the time after hurting my knee)

Very cool, Falconer! My face looks 'normal' but I'm wearing a pumpkin tee shirt, a 'meet me on the web' spider sweatshirt and pumpkin earrings. You can count walking around cu de sacs if I can count running up & down the stairs to pass out candy (we live in a split level house). I love Halloween!

I am also struggling with calf cramps at night. So exhausting! I am taking flexeril and drinking extra water so I may have to try the soap trick if it doesn’t get better. Loopy

My classes are so busy at school this year that I am hitting 10,000 steps by 3 pm.

My mom has recently been diagnosed with lymphoma so I am going with her to the oncologist tomorrow to learn more about it. The upside is missing the day after Halloween craziness at school.

Karen- our basement is the same. Between getting a lot of stuff when my MIL passed away and all the stuff my kids have stored it’s a bit of a mess.

It was warm and humid today but supposed to get colder tomorrow. Keep that snow away!

Ginger, so sorry to hear about your mom. I hope that she is receiving good medical care. She is fortunate to have you by her side. I also took flexerol one night this week to relax the muscle tension. Our gift today is a two hour delay thanks to downed trees and power outages. So the Halloween after effects will be a quick in and out!

So so sorry about your mom's diagnosis, Ginger. Hope you got some good answers and a treatment plan at her appointment.

We had lots of Trick-er-Treaters last night (including a puppy and his little mistresses, luckily I have some dog treats on hand!). Our Aqua Zumba teacher was sick today so we did Water Aerobics instead; it was okay but not as much fun as Zumba.

edj3 - great idea about the knuckle lights. Thanks!

Falconer - great makeup. I miss trick or treating with kids

Ginger - sorry to hear your mom is ill. Hoping they make a good treatment plan for her. Leg cramps- maybe try stretching out the muscles really good before bed. Husband says this helps him.

I ate too much candy last night. Boo! DH took leftover candy to work. Whew

Thankfully, my mom got pretty good news at her oncology appointment. The lymphoma is very slow growing and early stage so for now she doesn’t need any treatment. Will do bloodwork and see dr again in 3 months. She will be 91 in 3 weeks and her doctor feels that it could take a very long time before she would need treatment so that’s a relief.

No power at our house and could be multiple days before it’s restored. I am glad to still be visiting my mom until tomorrow! Unfortunately, there’s lots of leftover candy here. Loopy

    Hi all,

New to this site. Just finished up Taxol and Carboplatin. 1 week off and start AC. I finally got some much need energy back. Went to YOGA class with a couple of cancer friends. It felt so good to stretch and move without leg pain and having energy. Will try to keep it up. Very cold here in RI only 32 this am. Looking forward to following this site.

I'm triple neg, Braca neg, stage 3, so this break in chemo for a week was much needed. I'm also on a trial/placebo drug every three weeks.

Lot's of leaves down from storm the other day, might tackle some of them today. Tractor with leaf bagger!!! That should be enough excerise for today, besides walking my golden, (aka) beast. His name is Grady but he is huge

    Have a great Saturday

    Welcome Martaj!

It's Support Your Local Businesses Day here; so what can I do but go shopping?! I'll do some sort of indoor exercise later today. It is gloomy and cold around here.

Hi all...sorry I've been missing in action, but I did get some exercise today in a beautiful place: walked three miles on the Lake Tahoe trail. The weather was perfect: cool and sunny, no wind. Here's a pic from the trail....

Hello all, I walked for 25 minites around the lake today, gingerly, testing a knee I've been treating for a little inflammation. I did ok but am researching indoor swimming options so I have alternatives. It felt good to move!

I have been lurking, but not posting. Back on the exercise wagon after a fabulous time in London where I walked 8-12 miles per day. One of these days was exploring the Royal Botanical Garden at Kew with the French guy who rents a room from my friend Margaret. Great time, but I did turn down his offer of "dinner" while my friend Margaret was in France. Dinner would have been good though - he was a chef in a former life. Now does IT support.

Last week was endless work as I paid for my two weeks of fun. Got back on the bicycle with another ride scheduled for today. I also need to grind out some work as took yesterday off. I must be part squirrel as have been stocking the fridge for winter. So it's full of amazing vegetables. I also have the ingredients for muesli, as detest granola, and muesli was what I had for breakfast most days while in London. Simple, and it's a good way of ensuring you eat enough fruit. I have oatmeal and emmer porridge plus dried fruits and nuts to put in. I need to get a large storage jar, plus I would like to add wheat germ. Hoping for a tasty result.

Tonight will be the big Poulet de Bresse challenge. I have a French recipe, courtesy of my admirer, which I shall attempt to replicate to the extent possible. I have dried morel mushrooms and I got a local free-range chicken yesterday. I also got dry sherry, and I have the other ingredients on hand (cream, butter, shallots). How can this not be fabulous!!! I wonder if I should make wild rice? (Veg are no problem.....need to use up some of what I bought, and I have quite the selection!)

Think that I will head for the farmland for my ride as always glorious, and should be empty now that Halloween and pumpkin season are over. (Though will wait for things to warm up a bit.) I still need carrots, so will look for those at the farm stand I will pass. I love being outdoors, and we have been having glorious weather. Life doesn't get better than this! - Claire

Interesting Ruth info on effects of sitting! I don't get too sit often during my work day but do find when I get the chance to sit down in the afternoon I find myself tired also. Best if I keep moving during that time!

I love shopping local too! Warm sweaters sound wonderful! The local running store I shopped at yesterday, opened 2yrs ago and is less than a mile from my house! Love to bop in there! Yesterday I got the chance to get in there and have them fit me again for new running shoes. I have been wearing the same running shoes brand and model for the past 10-12 yrs. Asics gel Nimbus. Replacing 2x-3xper year. I told him I have been having some PF and Achilles aches and pains for the past year and half. Told him it could be my meds (armidex), from chemo, or maybe I need to be fitted for a new shoe. The employee that helped me yesterday said the Nimbus is still a good fit for me but also had me try 2 other brands. Hokas and Sauconys. I have not been as in love with my Nimbus for the past 2 or 3 shoe models that have come out. They did do some changes around that time and I have heard other complain too. I ended up buying the Saucony Triumphs. They felt so wonderful. He also told me I seem to be a bit harder on my shoe and should try switching out more often too. Hoping this will help my feet issues! Realistically it's probably effects from chemo or Armidex. But anyway excited to try them out today! ☺

Runnermum, no....think it was a subtle change in shoe design. The margin between bliss and agony can be extremely small. My last pair of cycling shoes is just a bit smaller and narrower than my old ones. I have a large toenail that is iffy looking.

I wear closed toes otherwise for obvious reasons. Off for my ride as starting to warm up. Planning on 20 miles today; did 25 yesterday in glorious sunshine. - Claire

Thank you Claire! I am so hopeful it helps and you made me more hopeful! Spring after chemo I noticed some numbness in toes about a mile into runs. Chalked it up to possible nueropathy. The next time I bought shoes, I tried a half size bigger and no more numbness. When he fitted me yesterday I needed a 7 1/2 in the Asics which is the size I moved up to a year ago. But in the Hokas and Saucony he fitted me in size 7s. They have definitely made the new Nimbus models more narrow! Have a great ride todag!!

Yes, I remember all the paperwork, paperwork, paperwork very well!!! SickTired

Our substitute yoga teacher (from India) led class today. Very interesting. She is very a deliberate and focused on form, which will be good for us I think.
