a good friend who lives in San Francisco came to visit last night and spent the night here in my temporary Sacramento home...so exercise this am was walking around and re-discovering the Old Town...then walking by the river and then over to the beautiful Crocker Art Museum (which I last visited at least thirty years ago: there is an entirely new building now in addition to the old, historic one). We got in a good amount of walking, that is the good news. I am keeping up my steps during radiation so yay for me...the bad news is that everything I saw seemed determine to increase my homesickness for Santa Fe: first there was a railroad car from the Santa Fe Railroad, and then we walked into the Art Museum and the current exhibit is of Pueblo pottery...including a wonderful collection from stunning contemporary Acoma Pueblo, less than a two hours drive from my home in Santa Fe....

6.5 mile run this morning, yoga and spent a few hours walking around the tailgating lot before the football game this afternoon. I am ending the day with over 23,000 steps. On the couch for the night with my book!I

Ruth did your girls win? Our girls lost a close one today and didn't make state.

No, we lost to Century (grrrr), but still came in second so are on the way to the State Tournament. We went right from the high school to the college to watch their Women's Volleyball tournament game. They happily won so are on their way to Nationals. So....I think I have seen enough volleyball for a couple days and I am now going to sit down & read a book also!

Octo, glad you have company and sent me looking at Crocker addition as it's been 30+ for me as well since my last visit. Falconer, I'm looking for a weekly or rather a mentor. Not easy out here, when most on offer is basic hatha, movement based or Mysore style ashtanga. TwoHobbies, have you been walking much around that lovely lake? Damp morning, not raining yet looks like it will arrive sometime today. I have Pilates mid-morning and then dreaded housework today for me as well. Been online shopping for Christmas as it's just around the corner~sigh.

Last night and the night before, I did not exercise. Tonight, I ran for half an hour in 1 min jog, 1 min run increments.

Gorgeous gorgeous picture, Heidi! And a very interesting article that makes perfect sense to me. Yea for us to be following NASA's advice before we even read it!

I will go to Dance2fit and yoga this afternoon, and then maybe drag out the outside Christmas decorations and get them up before it gets really cold again.

Octogirl- I am glad for you that you're having time with friends while you receive teeatment

Lilac- are you specifically looking for a yoga nidra practitioner? I understand what you mean about limited choices when living away from the city. Though this is Woodstock- Bob Dylan's famous headstand photo was taken here. I also think, to an extent, that we are moving toward being mentors ourselves, no?

Heidihill- stunning photo. Though I myself amnot ready for white space just yet. I liked the article too. Changes the perspective on illness, for the better.

I had a good yoga class yesterday but today was on the couch napping the afternoon away. I think I'm getting sick- wicked headache and general malaise.

Love it HeidiHill and super link; going to print and share that! Oh Falconer, I'm always the student and more for my slow-mo end of yoga spectrum and truth to your questioning. Hope this bug you caught passes quick. Ruth, I too was thinking of bringing the boxes in yet the trees have yet to arrive here (we buy fresh). Have a good start to the week everyone!

Love this picture! Can I send my part-Husky grand-dog over to play with Sammy? She adores the snow!

We didn't get to the outdoor decorations yesterday; maybe today. I will go to Dance2Fit & Yoga again tonight.

Heidi- if I were where you are I'd like winter a lot better.

LB- I know what you mean- well, for my money the best yoga nidra teacher was Glenn Black. He lives here but travels to Europe frequently enough. Maybe you could catch him there one day. For example, here’s a worship he did in September- https://www.soham.yoga/new-events/master-glenn-black-at-soham?locale=fr

We had a two hour delay today because the morning was rainy freezing drizzle. Headache is better today, thanks for the encouragement. Rain again after work so I walked for thirty minutes on the treadmill and watched Queer Eye.Then I did a little strength training with theweights.

It was actually a nice sweatshirt & sweatpants day here. We got all the outdoor Christmas lights up. Yea! And I ended up walking the dogs this afternoon too. DS had a plumbing emergency; so I went over to his house, let the plumber in, & got the dogs out of there so he could work in peace (the little one is too barky & the big one is too helpful!).

Beautiful day here yesterday and so was able to squeeze a 5mile run in and 20 mins of strength work after. No wind, 40 degrees, perfect running temps.

Tonight I have a gathering with some friends and will miss my group run but going to try to get in a bosu workout before and maybe some yoga also. Feeling a little stiff today. All this yoga talk...I am signed up for restorative yoga on Thursday this week. An hour and half of bliss! Can't wait!!

I LOVE my Bosu ball! I've used it for years but after I fractured my pelvis last year, my physical therapist had me do all sorts of strength/balance workouts on that thing.

Got in 5 and 1/4 mile general aerobic run this morning. Lovely moon, temps were perfect. We've got a cold front starting to move through tomorrow night and by Friday we'll be back in the deep freeze. Ah, life in Kansas.

Love my bosu too! So good and important for our strength and balance. A very worthwhile purchase and love having access to it at home!

Wanted to share a book recommendation

    https://www.marydejong.com

    Through A Daughters Eyes

    By Mary Dejong

Mary writes about her fathers diagnosis of cancer. She was a young child when he was diagnosed and spent 7 years of her childhood watching him fight cancer. It's a perspective we don't often see...how a cancer diagnosis affects a young child. It's a heartbreaking but thoughtful story. This is her 1st book and she does a wonderful job. I know many of us have children and wanted to share.

Last night, I did 3 sets of 10 ab reps separated by a break of about a minute in between, then jogged for 15 minutes and walked for 45 minutes total, in intervals.

I will check out the book, Runner, thanks. I think for most (if not all) parents, making sure that their kids come out of a family crisis okay is their number one concern.

Lots of fitness stuff for me today. Pilates, Yoga Nidra (so lovely!), walked the dogs, & went back for Barre (I didn't really need any more exercise, but our sweet young teacher is having a baby on Monday & I wanted to wish her luck). My Book Club meets tonight so I will counteract all my goodness with a glass or two of wine and a rich dessert!

Great walk before walk....got home too late to walk outside so walked in the house - paced around the family room kitchen and hallway - managed 13K

Stopped at King Soopers (part of Kroger chain) to pick up an Rx and got my second Shingles shot. They had been out for several weeks and just got more in.

Off to Pilates and tonight, BodyBalance/Flow, and Pilates after.

Walked with the Wednesday Women. Here are the inside walkers (two die-harders are still walking outside). We're wearing the colors of our local university because we went over and had breakfast there after our walk. College food has been vastly improved since my coed days! Mat pilates at noon.

Sixty minutes of weights today, I'm nicely shaky and I think/hope I'll be sore.
