Welcome 2teach! Good luck with starting your AI. It's always scary starting a new drug.
edj3: I'm almost finished with the first season of You. Read that the 2nd season has a really big surprise in the last episode.
Pat: Good to hear from you! Glad that stretching is helping your shoulder. I'm bet you're excited to start your trip.
Martaj: Wow! You have a full plate ahead of you. How wonderful that you got to mark AC off your To Do List. That's HUGE!!!
Hi Everyone! This kidney stone episode just about broke me physically and emotionally. I'm getting back on track. The 12 inch stent started to come out on it's own at 4am on Saturday when I got up to pee. Sooo, I pulled it out myself. Took a Vicodin. Sat in the den with only the Christmas tree lights on and zoned out watching Road House with Patrick Swayze until 5:30am. Just what I needed!
I slow walked at the park today. Slowly my spark is coming back.
Ruth: I took this picture today just for you. 72 degrees. Short sleeves. Delicious sun.

Holy Cow Ruth!
We had rain all day but just as hubby was just about home when we got thunder lightning n the rain started to turn to ice. Even had a couple minutes of hail! Thankfully hubby had just got the car tucked away for the night. I could hear him complaining about getting pelted with hail.
Exercise for the day was laundry

Jealous of your weather, Wonderland. Glad you are starting to feel a bit better.
So glad you're done with AC, Martaj. Other than being diagnosed and making all the decisions at the beginning, For me, AC was definitely the hardest part of all that followed.
I think ice is even worse than snow; be careful, Mommy.
I'm using the last of the leftover turkey (which has been in the freezer) in a very yummy casserole tonight. At that point the Holiday Food will be all gone.

I got my Subaru back from the shop today so no longer grounded. A radiator is truly a thing of beauty. I stopped by Pike Place Market for belly of pork for rillettes which I have promised a friend, by Uli's for amazing brats (cooking the cranberry ones right now), and by Bavarian Meats for amazing ham hocks for pea soup plus smoked pork chops. They have the best ones on the planet, I swear.
The place was packed so went by the wine bar to deliver two Christmas Puddings plus hard sauce. The banter was beyond fun. Came home with a bottle of sparkling Gewurtztraminer to ring in the New Decade. The last two were less than spectacular with the first being marred by the Y2K bug that never materialized (guess who was the point person?) and 2010 being the time I was in the midst of chemo (AC with 2 more to go, as had six all told). I remember celebrating with sparkling elderflower water. I'll take the Gewurtz!!!
Hoping to get up skiing in the next 2 days. More later as dinner awaits. - Claire

Ran a mile this morning in the brutal wind chill just so I could end the year with a run. Then I did 30 minutes of hard core abs.

Did 45 minutes on the treadmill today watching You.
Hi 2teach: I’m also a teacher- I have eighth graders...
Martaj. Here’s to the last AC and time moving forward. It’ll be behind you soon enough.
wonderland: that sounds awful. Really. Here’s to your spark returning- hope the sunshine helps.

Yes???? (If you had a message for me, Falconer, it didn't come through).
Interesting day here. The main streets & emergency routes are cleared out, but the side streets are not. To get down my street you would need an enormous all-wheel drive pickup......which we do not have. So, no newspaper, mail, recycling or garbage pickup for us until who knows when. Since my Pound class was on at 9:00 and it was 5 degrees, sunny, with no wind (or as we say 'pretty nice'), I threw my stuff in a backpack, bundled up and walked over. I stayed for a Senior Strong class (which is too easy for me.....but I was there already & there are no classes tonight because of New Years Eve). I used heavier weights & bands so it turned out okay. We are planning to go out to dinner tonight with some friends. Their street has been plowed out, so (unless a miracle occurs and the snowplows come by) we will walk down to the end of our street and they will pick us up...... crazy weather!

I was six pages behind which shows how little exercise I have done. We had the super warm Christmas Eve and Christmas which would have been perfect for exercise but I was sick. I have a New Year tradition of exercising the last day of the old year and first day of the New Year to set the tone, so yesterday I shoveled snow with the snow shovel, luckily only about three inches, and today I am heading out for a walk in the sunshine. I am glad to have missed the heavy snow that Ruth got!
That 1950s Betty Crocker cookbook is a great cookbook! My mom got married in 1950 so she had the original and it was worn to shreds so I bought a reproduction for myself. As a kid I made many a pie and raisin bread from it. Funny or not so funny references to how you should dress up for your husband before he comes home to the dinner you prepared for him.
Oct, glad you are done with your rads! Wonderland my son had a kidney stone in October and I saw that pain. Pat, hope you are recovering from your shoulder break.
Happy New Year everyone. My fitness goal is to focus on strength more in 2020. I feel pretty fit but I want to be stronger.

Happy New Year to everyone!
Wonderland- I hope your recovery is quick and smooth! That sounds like it was a difficult and painful experience.
Ruth- Holy cow; that is a lot of snow! I feel like we would need a week to dig out of something like that! I would probably just be a hermit if I lived there
2Teach- welcome! I teach pre-k and also live in CT. This is an awesome group of people on this thread.
Mommy- that thunder and lightning was crazy, wasn’t it? So unusual at this time of year.
Falconer- I guess it’s time to go back to school...that reality is sinking in today.
Lilac- are you a Les Mills Body Combat trainer? I seem to remember seeing you post about it. I believe they said we did #81.
I have really enjoyed being able to exercise in the morning on this break from school. I have done water exercise, swimming, lots of Zumba, Body Combat and using the elliptical. My muscles are sore but it feels good.My New Year’s intention is about focusing on more self care. It’s so easy to put ourselves last and I am working on changing that habit.

It DOES take a week to shovel out this stuff! Since our usual haunts were closed today, the Wednesday Women who could make it headed to Walmart (which is always open!). A lady with an enormous vehicle picked up two of us whose streets are yet to be plowed). We did more sales shopping than walking, but had lots of fun (which should be the main point anyway, IMO).
Wishing a Happy and Healthy New Year to us all!

Happy New Year all...oh Ruth, too much snow! Makes me think of our Christmas' growing up in New Hampshire...which is why I moved to Virginia 35 years ago!
I feel like Bridget Jones Diary...Day 1 - went to a kick-a.. 75 minute Vinyasa class, yeah me.
Came home to find out my SIL is in hospital with a spot on lung and brain...they have to wait until Friday for a biopsy to allow blood thinners to pass some, welcome all silent prayers for Joyce.
Hope we all have a good Day 2! TT

Happy New Year Women Of Action!
Ginger, I'm a LM advanced BodyBalance/Flow instructor and that is my only LM license (#87 is my new release). Combat is excellent and a big push this past year to make it flourish and grow here in the UK. Wonderland, thinking of you and hoping each day is better and better. Twohobbies, good to see you post . Trm Tab, thoughts for Joyce, very sorry to read of what she and all of your are going through. Would have enjoyed your kick a..flow class today - good on ya! Ruth terrific photos and your snow, wow. Pat enjoy your travels. Falconer, a bit of yoga today? Martaj - here is an excellent link on all aspect of prehab before surgery: https://www.kevinmd.com/blog/2019/06/shorten-recovery-with-prehabilitation-before-surgery.html
I've enjoyed this holiday and down time. Today was a drag as our water heater decided to pack it in and leak, dripping through the ceiling from the upstairs and onto the Christmas tree -ack! Tree is out of the house, our plumber Michael spent the day with us with new water heater coming on Friday. Anyhoo, let's all keep at it!

TT, thinking of Joyce and sending hugs her (and your) way.
The snowplow finally came through about 2:00, so DH and I just got done participating in a 'neighborhood bonding event' as we helped dig out each others driveways, mailboxes, curbs etc. Whoo hoo!

Got in a 3 1/2 mile run this AM. I think it's really unfair to have a hangover from two glasses of wine.

Took a long, very brisk walk today (it was sunny here, but cold!) and then did a bunch of housework and moved some boxes in the garage as a start to getting it organized (which I think counts as strength training), all after sleeping in, not that I made it to midnight last night!
Yay for getting the car out and getting the neighborhood at least partially clear of snow, Ruth!

Got a nice 3 mile walk in yesterday, along with classical stretch. Busy getting the RV ready, which may have to count as exercise today. Also graduated from PT, she gave me exercises I can do in the trailer to get my shoulder and arm stronger and not as tight.

Ran 5 miles this morning. My arm sure hurts from the shingles vaccine I got yesterday

Heidi that mountain behind you is stunning!

Heidi, if our winter keeps going the way it has started, I will NEED to invest in snowshoes!
I was able to DRIVE to my Zumba class this morning (whoo hoo) and followed up with running all the errands I've put off since Saturday. I also read all the papers and mail that hadn't been able to be delivered until today, and since we hadn't seen them for awhile, DH & I snatched the grandpuppies and took them for a nice car ride and a walk in the country. I'll go to Dance2fit and Yoga tonight.

Hi everyone I walked around the lake today for half an hour. The geese were beautiful and in abundance which made it even prettier. Yestetday was all about housework and putting away decorations.
Prayers for you and your SIL Joyce. Those things are never easy.

TT sorry to hear about your SIL. Hope that she has good care.
Did 45 minutes of yoga tonight.

Got in a 6.6 mile run today, which is good. I leave tomorrow for Manila so running options may be limited. Plus we'll be sticking with the US Central time zone hours while there which means first thing in the morning for me there will be late afternoon with all the heat and humidity that entails.

Happy New Year, everyone!
Ginger-I like your self-care focus for the new year. I really believe we can do this without neglecting the other people in our lives too much.
Wonderland-hope you feel better everyday
2Teach - welcome!
Ruth- I love your reports of the latest exploits of you and your girl gang.
Snow !!! I love these pics. Really brings back memories of too much snow . All the shoveling really is a great workout. Hated driving in it though
TT- prayers for Joyce
Lilac - sorry to hear about your water heater. I hope it didn’t cause too much damage
Octogirl- Hooray for Home!
Heidi - great picture of you snow shoeing. If I ever lived where it snows again, I would snow shoe rather than ski. ( I was never that good at it and the risk would be too much)
Pat - best wishes on your travels. Would love to see pics!

I had a great stretch of vacation over Christmas and New Years and was able to get tons of walking in. I also ran a lot more than normal. My goal is to run a half marathon in late September and tie it in with vacation. I considered running a half in the next month or two but I don’t think I will be ready and the entrance fee is $90-$100. Too much for not being serious. I will ramp up my running gradually instead.
I ate too many Christmas treats and gained a few pounds so it is essential that I get back on track with my diet

Happy New Year everyone! Mine started great with a 20 mile bicycle ride (still no skiing) and then, needing hair color, I slid by the drugstore which also has a care clinic. They were open and had the shingles vaccine. Unfortunately, I am one of the roughly 10% who have a reaction to it. I only wish it were a sore arm! I slept something like 28 out of 32 hours if that gives you an idea. So happy to be able to take in food and liquids today.
I am using this as an opportunity to jump start my revised eating plan for 2020. So glad that I timed this where I had a day of nothing pressing to recover. Still a bit shaky, and I think no more than a long walk today.
Ruth...invest in those snowshoes! A world of fun out there. Just make sure that you aren't the one to break trail. Jealous Heidi!
Snow will come, and I will get to ski, perhaps next weekend? Tomorrow looks very iffy, and skiing on slush with the rain pelting down is not my idea of a good time.
Happy to have these extra 3 days to catch up and get 2020 off to a great start. Wishing everyone the best year ever. As for 2021 being the real start to the new decade, this is a rumor started by the same group who downgraded Pluto from a planet. If this were true, the first decade of our lives would have started when we turned 1, not at birth.
Happy New Year and New Decade! - Claire
